A driver, Sunday Lawal, 33, who allegedly obtained three bottles of Hennessy and food valued at N75,000 from a bar attendant under false pretences, was on Friday arraigned in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
The accused, who resides at Bola Ajibola Street, Ikeja, Lagos is standing trial on a two-count charge of obtaining under false pretences and breach of peace.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp. Raji Akeem, told the court that the accused committed the offences on July 9, at Royal Club, Oba Akran, Ikeja.
He said that the accused fraudulently obtained three bottles of Hennessy and food for himself and his friends at the club on the pretext that payment would be made after eating and drinking.
Akeem said that the complainant, Oluwaseyi Joseph, claimed that when he approached the accused and his friends to pay after eating, they started making flimsy excuses.
The prosecutor said that the accused claimed that there was a problem with his ATM card and he did not have enough money to pay for the drinks and food he bought.
He said that Joseph immediately notified his manager that the accused and his friends had refused to pay their bill after eating.
Akeem said the manager immediately notified the police, who arrested Lawal and took him to the station for further questioning.
The offences contravene sections 166 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Section 314 prescribes a 15-year jail term for obtaining under false pretenses.
The Magistrate, Mr T.O Shomade, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
It was a great re-union for a 62-year old woman who recently got married to her 75-year old lover as her children gave her out to the man for marriage.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the woman simply known as Geraldine from Isoko got married to Mr. Joshua from Urhobo in Delta State after their children consented to the marriage.
The marriage reception took place at Agbara where the woman lived with one of her children, while she moved to her new husband’s place after the marriage at Omiyale in Ejigbo, Lagos.
It was gathered that Geraldine separated from her husband after they had five grown up children while Mr Joshua lost his wife seven years ago.
It was learnt that they were lovers in their youth days and Jehovah Witness teachers before they separately married.
The marriage between Geraldine and Joshua started after the former love birds met at Agbara, expressed their emotions and resolved to convince their children to consent to their marriage.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that after their discussion, Geraldine first called her children and told them that she was lonely and needed a man that will take care of her emotional needs since she has separated from her husband.
She also reportedly told them that she had a lover before she married their father and the lover lost his wife some years ago and was also lonely.
She said since both of them were lonely, it was better for her to marry the man so that they will take care of each other.
It was gathered that the children were initially against the decision but when their mother threatened to kill herself if they did not support her, they soft pedalled. Thereafter they consented and gave her to Joshua as wife.
On the side of the man, it was the same thing because the children saw it as adding extra burden to the family but had no choice than to consent to make the man happy again.
When P.M.EXPRESS visited the new couple and asked to know how they were coping with the marriage, they said it was easy for them to settle down because they have known each other over the years.
On their sex life, the man said they were slowly active and declined to make further comments.
Wale Ojo, a Nigerian born and American-based actor gave a reason why actors marry each others.
While granting interview with HipTV, Wale Ojo revealed that he is such a traveler that does not stay in a particular place for a long time in spite of the demands of his career.
“I have been to five countries in past months. I don’t stay in one place at a time”, he said.

A young female suicide bomber has been apprehended in Konduga Local Government Council of Borno by security operatives in the area.
Satomi Mustapha who lives in Konduga said that the suspected Boko Haram suicide bomber was nabbed by security operatives at an Internally Displaced Persons IDP camp.

“I don’t have any grudge against Kemi Olunloyo. The truth is that I see a lot of brilliance in her but it is just that her way of doing things without having ethical values is what makes people get pissed at her.
If she had initially written something like I saw Seyi Law’s daughter’s picture and I think he should watch the weight of his baby so that she doesn’t become obese, that would have been better because it is a piece of advice. It is a better approach and not calling my baby obese without having the necessary precautions like taking the baby’s weight, height, eating routine and other things.
If she had done all these things before coming to the conclusion that my baby is obese, that would have been medically fine. If we were in the US or UK; providing a baby’s medical report on social media without the approval of the parents, I know what it entails and the amounts she would pay as fine.
The cyberspace is not limited to a country, it is worldwide. She claims to be a citizen of the US and my child is a US citizen. I could decide to sue her in the US and she would pay out of her nose. She could even be the one to pay the money that would send my child to school.
Some people are brilliant but they take their stupidity to an extent that they ruin themselves along the line. Brilliance without caution would make you become foolish.
This woman can be very good sometimes with some of her reports and she could be blunt at other times with her write-up and we appreciate that but when you operate as a person, you need to be careful with your choice of words. If you want to be blunt, it has to be with evidence. You don’t just say you are blunt by writing falsehood and that is where she has a problem.”
Former Niger Delta militant leader, Mujaheed Asari Dokubo has weighed in on the alleged $90 billion fraud charge levelled against Nigeria’s former minister of Petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke.
In a video published on social media platform, Facebook, Dokubo, branded President Buhari and his cabinet members as liars.
He stated that if Madueke had looted $90 billion at the current exchange rate and returned it as widely reported, the government would not need to borrow from foreign institutions to finance infrastructural development across the country.
Dokubo, who was visibly angry, accused Buhari of embezzling N30 billion naira from the oil sector when he was petroleum minister and head of the PTDF fund under the Late Abacha regime. He also lampooned music artists, Davido and Donjazzy for condemning the former minister without first seeking the truth.

“Nigeria is now a country of liars, ruled by liars, and managed by liars. How can somebody just wake-up and claim Diezani embezzled $90 billion? Multiple that amount of dollars with the value of one dollar to the Naira and tell me what the sum is.

Captain E, the son of the renowned actor, Omotola Jalade has revealed how he started music at his very tender age.
In a conversation with Hiptv, the 19-year-old boy said he got inspired by the beat of an HipHop artiste while he was in secondary school and spurred him to produce a similar beat.
Captain E also revealed that he has always been inclined to music since he was young as he grew up playing all kinds of instruments like Guitar, Piano and Saxophone.
In an interview with Nigerian Tribune‘s Newton-Ray Ukwuoma, rapper and video director Abdul Rasheed Bello popularly known as JJC Skillz and husband of award-winning actress Funke Akindele Bello disclosed how he met his wife, his career, and family life.
He also disclosed that his music is on hold as he is focusing on his movie directing career with two major productions Jenifa’s Diary and Industreet.
When asked if he had taken a break from music, he said: “Yes. My music is on hold, because I needed to focus on this great opportunity that came to my doorsteps. Jenifa’s Diary is a big project, you can see we have been winning awards here and there. We as a family, have our hands full already in different productions.”
He disclosed that he had certificates in TV and video production, and had worked in that industry for 2 years.
“I actually studied TV and Video Production in school. After my studies, I went on to take on MVQ course; which is like a work training course. I had 9 straight A’s during the course from script writing, directing, all. I did it so passionately, I came out with distinctions. Because of my grade, I was able to get a job with an amazing advertisement company. I was their assistant editor and worked there for 2 years. So, I had a background in entertainment, directing, editing, it’s what I studied and it’s now my profession. But I left all that for music,” JJC Skillz said.

What are the challenges of film production, directing?
It hasn’t been easy, but God has been there for us.All I can say is he who findeth a wife, findeth a good thing and obtained favour from the Lord. Most times, as a single man you carry almost all your burdens alone. You’d have to worry about what you eat, and my cooking skillz it’s not really that fantastic. But when I found my wife, I knew I had found my better-half. Now, when I think about things, I share it all with my wife. We wake up from same bed in morning and head to our field, because we are both in entertainment. She’s the actress, script writer. I’m the director, editor. She’s very hard working. I don’t know anyone like us in this industry. She works day and night. We wake up every single day, with the mind set of making ourselves happy. So, challenges are nothing to me anymore.
As busy as you have described your wife and as budding as your skills are in cooking, how does your wife still have time to cook for you? Or doesn’t she?
Why not? Yes, she does. It is said that the best way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Definitely, she cooks amazingly, but I told her to stop, so she can get enough rest. Most times, she would insist, because she wants to take care of her man. But I always insist, as we now have chefs.
Was it her cooking skillz that attracted you to her?
My wife is a fantastic cook, she’s an amazing woman. Everything about her attracted me to her. It’s not only one thing that attracts a man to a woman, but definitely, the cooking is a plus and my wife has it all. I would want to eat her meals for the rest of my life.
So, how does it feel being married to a popular actress?
To be honest, I lived the better part of my life in the UK, so I didn’t really know who Funke Akindele was. When I met her, I just met someone that wanted a director for her TV show; Jenifa’s Diary. That was in 2013. We have been going on for a long time, people just found out in 2016. We were very low keyed, because we are two popular people in the entertainment industry. We had to protect our privacy.
He also debunked rumours that he had a quarrel with his cousin Moe Musa, which led to Moe leaving his house.
“Those who instigated such reports are very stupid! People just say and publish whatever they want without proper investigations and still get away with it. Mr. Moe Musa as at then moved to the next block after mine. I lived in block H, while he is in block G. I spoke with the agents that got him the apartment and he moved in. He used to be in a room in my 3 bedroom apartment, so when my relationship got serious, he moved on. That’s not even the main reason. Moe has been in Nigeria then for almost 6 months, so he felt it was time to get his own place.
To be honest, when you first relocate to Nigeria, you’ll find it very hard to stay alone because you don’t understand the system yet. The way things work in Nigeria is different from the way they work in other countries. Moe stayed with me for a while, so he could get used to the Nigerian system. How to get food, how generator works and other confusing stuffs,” he said.
He also talked about Olayode Juliana (Toyosi in Jenifa’s Diary) leaving the series.
I don’t know why Toyosi left and it has nothing to do with me. Just like any character in a TV series, she can go and return. The only permanent character in the series is Jenifa. Falz has gone and came back, Toyosi has gone and maybe would come back. In the script, Toyosi is married and has gone to France with her husband to live for a while. So, anything can happen. When she comes back, you’d see her on screen, if not, then that’s what the script said.
How did you meet Funke Akindele?
She wanted someone to direct her TV series, then I was about to embark on recording the JJC album then. Her sister introduced us, because she knew I was into music video directing. So, when I met her, she told me she did a movie sometime ago and would like to turn it into a TV series. We started working together and preparing for the shoot, then one thing led to another. Here we are today, the rest is history. We just clicked.
It sounds like love at first sight.
Well, I would say so, because first time I saw her, I was wowed. She also told me the same thing. We tried to keep the whole work as professional as possible but along the line, emotions ran high.
How was the proposal? Bank W’s style?
[Laughs] I’m a romantic person, so I gave her a dose of it. It wasn’t in an open place, because only very few people knew at then.So, that very day, she came home to meet flowers, candles everywhere; quite a romantic set up. When she saw it, she had no choice than to say ‘Yes’.
You are both celebrities, how do you succeed in maintaining your private life?
Private life, work life, we take it all one day at a time. We don’t worry about outsiders and what they would think, we just do what pleases us. Every single day, we say our prayers and talk about how the day would go. It’s quite a unique and complimentary relationship and I’m enjoying every bit of it.
During the Hallelujah Challenge, you received a prophecy of a twin birth. Are you expectant?
Yes. Soon! God’s time is the best. We are working on it.
How did your kids accept their new step mum?
Well, before we got married in London, we all had a good relationship here in Nigeria. The kids were always seeing this beautiful woman around daddy, and she always makes him happy. They might be away and in different continents, but they are part of our daily activities. She is also very close to them, they met her digital first. They didn’t know she is an actress then, because in the UK, they hardly watch Nigerian movies, but they love her so much. They all love each other. It’s a perfect blend.
I remember my daughter telling me, ‘Dad make sure you marry her. She’s a keeper’. And I did, I followed my daughter’s advice.One of my songs, Save The Last Dance’ was written for my wife, she really saved the last dance for me.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) today July 28TH, 2017, secured the conviction of a traditional ruler – Umar Kabir Danbaba before Justice Nasiru Saminu of the Kano State High Court on a one count charge of Cheating.
According to PoliticsNgr , the convict fraudulently obtained the sum of N1,470,000 (One Million, Four Hundred and Seventy Thousand Naira ) from the complainant for the purpose of securing and allocating mining site in Zamfara State but instead diverted the money to his personal use.
The suspect who looked distraught was gradually led out of the court premises in the company of security agents and prison officials.

The 6 boys who were kidnapped from Igbonla College in Epe have been rescued.
According to Sahara Reporters, the boys who were kidnapped some two months ago by men suspected to be Niger Delta militants, were rescued alive with intervention from the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.
Although they are yet to be reunited with their parents, The Guardian reports that the boys are currently at the Government house in Akure, Ondo State.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni reportedly confirmed their release but declined to give any information on the circumstances leading to it.

If I saw the photo on the left a year ago I would’ve instantly thought so negatively about my body, that all my hard work from working out was non existent, that if someone looked at me they would’ve never thought I’ve been working out for 2 years and think I wasn’t trying hard enough. But the thing is is that all bodies look different. Nobody’s booty looks round and peachy from all angles. Nobody’s body looks the same from all angles.
Don’t eat less or miss out on your favorite meals/drinks or over exercise to “look good for a holiday” or to “look good in bikini photos” because there will always be angles that are “unflattering” that might make you feel bad when you see them. Instead workout and eat healthy because it makes you feel good, not as a punishment. Start loving and accepting your body at all angles with all your “flaws”, instead of trying to fit into societies image of ‘beauty’ because that image isn’t inclusive of all individuals, which is so messed up.
Don’t hate yourself just because of bad photos, they do not define you as a person. You look the best when you’re living life to the fullest and happiest. Pictures released by South Yorkshire Police capture the remains of a jet black Ferrari 430 Scuderia after it crashed off the side of a motorway and transformed into a fireball.
Officers said the Ferrari driver left the road in wet conditions and slid 50 metres across a field before the vehicle burst into flames near Barnsley, South Yorks.
At the scene officers revealed the driver, who survived with cuts and bruises, said ‘it was a Ferrari’ with ‘a hint of damaged pride’ – before saying he ‘only had it an hour’.
Police offices lifted the lid on the reason why motorists were stuck on at Junction 37 of the M1 earlier today after posting two pictures of the wreckage on Facebook.
South Yorkshire Police Operational Support posted:
‘Afternoon folks, were you stuck in traffic this afternoon on the M1 south around junction 37? If so, here’s why.
‘Officers were deployed to a single vehicle collision with reports that the vehicle had left the carriageway and burst in to flames.
‘Road conditions were wet at the time and as officers arrived on scene it became clear there was a vehicle well alight.
‘Colleagues from South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue were in attendance squirting water all over some kind of sporty motor some 50 or so meters down a banking.
‘As we are an inquisitive bunch, we found the driver and were amazed to see he only had minor cuts and bruises!
‘Officers asked the driver what sort of car he ‘had’ to which he replied “it was a Ferrari”.
‘Detecting a sense of damaged pride he then said: “I’ve only just got it, picked it up an hour ago”.
‘The serious part of this post: Over the past couple of weeks there has been a number of collisions where driving styles have not reflected the road & weather conditions – please take more care.
‘Ps. Here’s a couple of pictures of the previously mentioned sporty motor – for those who aren’t very knowledgeable on cars, it was a Ferrari 430 Scuderia.’
One person has been confirmed dead while seven others injured as a 40-foot ride malfunctioned in Ohio States, United States.
Acccording to the reports from CNN, the Fireball’s structure parts, including a full row of seats, split up and fell at the Ohio State Fair leaving behind casualties.
Eyewitnesses narrated the experiences on the hazardous event.
Kaylei Bellomy revealed how strange it was for her to have seen such machine malfunctioning.
“Everybody was running. I got ran over trying to get out of the way. I just don’t think I’ll ever ride a ride ever again”, she said.
She was just some moments away from getting on the ride before it collapsed.
Another woman Rhonda Burgess said her son was also waiting to get in.
“The ride had four riders per cart. This piece snapped off and the riders came out of the cart,” she said. “At least two (people) flew through the air at least 20 feet before landing on their backs on the concrete.”
The accident left Tyler Jarrell, an 18-year-old from Columbus dead, and seven others between the ages of 12 and 14 injured. Two are in critical condition and two others in serious condition.
According to Michael Vartorella, Chief Ride inspection for Ohio’s Division of Amusement Ride Safety, “(The ride had) been looked at about three or four times over the course of two days. It was inspected at a couple of different stages and it was signed off” on Wednesday.

“My brother laid a good foundation for me, but I would have preferred if he was around and had probably decided to retire at a good old age, instead of stepping into his shoes when he passed on,” he noted.
The lawmaker said he would always support a bottom-up style of development in the country that paid close attention to the grassroots by strengthening local government councils.
On his part, Adesina likened Adeleke’s victory at the polls reflection as a new era of bridge building in Nigeria’s democracy.
He said this would further strengthen political institutions for future elections.
“The expectations from you will be obviously very high because your late brother, Sen Isiaka Adeleke, was very popular, large-hearted and kind to a lot of people, and I know you are getting ready to fill the big shoes,” he added.
A newly wed lady identified as Chinyelu has revealed how she met her heartthrob/husband Ifeanyi via social media in the United State.
