Nollywood actress, Praise Sam Ogan is a damsel who is quite open about her convictions. She is an embodiment of intelligence, beauty and sex appeal.
She is not one who hides her opinions, she says it as it is. In a new interview, the quite busty actress talks about her passion for acting, most challenging movie role, sex before marriage, among other issues.
Read below:
Have you always wanted to be an actress?
Yes I have always wanted to be an actress. I mean from childhood. I am just an outspoken person so growing up, I was always called to lead kids in church. We act, sing and present. This happened in my childhood. So my love for the camera and the audience came from there.
When did you finally decide that acting was going to be your career?
Some years back I took that decision. I started acting three years back and stopped. I started again in January 2016 with a movie titled Wife for rent.
Have you ever found it difficult to come out of a character you played?
I have never found it difficult to come out of a character.
What will you regard as your most challenging role so far?
A role I acted as an Interior decorator is my challenging role so far. In the movie titled My Prophecy, my makeup was heavy in order to portray the role I played. It was challenging for me because I hate makeup so much. So I wasn’t myself at all .I acted directly with two actors, Yul Edochie and Ken Erics as an upcoming actress
What was it like acting with Yul and Ken?
They made it easy for me. I enjoyed every bit.
Why do you hate makeup?
I don’t know oh, I just don’t like it.
How has your journalism background helped you in your acting career?
Being bold works hand in hand with these two. So facing the camera comes with so much.Journalism has made acting easy for me.
What part of your body gets you the most attention?
My smile and my deep dimples gets me the most attention.
What is that one thing people hardly know about you?
The fact that I sing than I can do any other thing is one thing people hardly know about me. In addition, my marital status is very rare to know.
What is your opinion about pre-marital sex?
I am not holy or perfect but let us face the truth, as a Christian premarital sex is known as fornication, which the holy bible is against. It is wrong. Whatever good you do, you do it for yourself. You do bad? You do it for yourself. It’s a personal race. God would still have mercy on whom he would have mercy.
How far can you go when it comes to playing a romantic role?
I won’t go nude not just because of what people will say, but because I have a family who are more important to me than the world at large. I can only caress. I am even scared of kissing these days because of hepatitis B and so on which kills faster than HIV. A lot of people don’t even know. I am on point with my 3 course vaccine.
Is it possible to do without premarital sex in this generation?
It’s a personal race like I said, I can’t speak for anyone. Celibacy is normal. There are people who are seen as spoilt and wild, but they are celibate.
Can you have sex with your love interest or husband in a movie?
Nobody will do that. I have not seen or heard of that. Even real hubby and wife won’t go having sex in front of a director, DOP, PAs and so on. It’s not possible. You people believe and imagine too much. All we do is just make believe. That’s why it’s a movie. Nothing goes down biko! I have not seen that before. That is why we are good at what we do .If we our acting isn’t genuine, viewers will complain. Now we are trying to make you believe it’s real. Happy imagination to you guys.
Do you intentionally flaunt your boobs on social media?
Very funny, it’s showing by itself. That’s why God kept it at that position. Even if I tie wrapper, it would pop out.
Who are the individuals who inspire you in the movie industry?
Mercy Johnson and Joseph Benjamin inspire me. The passion they put into whatsoever they do inspires me, in the movie world and outside the movie world. The fact that they are down to earth is everything to me.
Have you ever been heartbroken?
Yes, you need to be heartbroken at some point so as to appreciate love when it finally comes your way.
How did you come out of that phase?
I am not the first. There is always a way out. Everybody has his way, I can’t share my way.
Who is Praise behind the cameras?
I can’t even say who I am. I have multiple personalities. But people say am a very bold and outspoken girl. I know am a shy girl. This life is just complicated. If you meet me personally you will find out.
When you are at home, what’s your favorite outfit to wear?
I don’t wear cloths at home to be sincere.
What new projects are you working on?
I call this year, big 2017. I am very sorry to say, all plans and projects are top secrets.
What’s your definition of a sexy woman?
My definition of a sexy woman is a God fearing, clean, confident and cheerful woman.
How has the ongoing recession affected Nollywood?
Recession is now a normal thing .It’s affecting everyone even individuals not just Nollywood. I don’t know much because I am not a movie marketer or a movie producer. I am sure they feel the heat more .I am sure the recession would be dealing with the movie marketers.
How has it affected you?
On a personal level, the recession is not affecting me in any way. No difference. I am still balling in grace.

Looking very beautiful and unassuming, four-year-old Adamu Rukayya cuts the image of a vibrant, young girl. And as expected of children of her age, she would always join her friends in the neighbourhood to go to school and play around the house during their leisure.
But things took a horrible turn for Rukayya on October 6, 2016 when she took ill and her parents took her to a private hospital where she was (allegedly) wrongly diagnosed and treated for a wrong ailment. Unknown to her parents, that was the beginning of a pitiable experience.
The wrong diagnosis, according to her uncle, who identified himself simply as Abubakar, led to serious complications such that one of her legs had to be amputated. And since then, she moves about with the aid of crutches.
Notably, one question the little girl had been asking everyone who cared to listen to her is, “Where is my leg?” Abubakar added that little Rukayya, who apparently does not have full understanding of what had become of her leg, still tells everyone that she wants her leg back.
The parents of the little girl had become too depressed to talk about the incident, but Abubakar in an emotion-filled narrative, told Saturday PUNCH that when Rukayya complained of headache that fateful Thursday, the parents simply took her to Salama hospital, which was like their family hospital.
According to him, the girl was treated, she was given some drugs and was discharged to go home. But two days later, her health condition was worsening, thus, they took her back to the hospital and she was admitted.
Abubakar, whose account was further amplified by the founder of Global Initiative for Women and Children, Mrs. Hafsat Mohammed-Baba, who had taken the matter up and shared the story on the organisation’s Facebook page, explained that when the girl was admitted, the parents were told that transfusion would be done through one of the veins in her leg because they said they could not find any (vein) on her hands.
But after the transfusion, he said the leg became swollen and when they raised the concern, they were simply told to take the girl home, raise the leg affected up and administer “ice therapy” on her. According to Abubakar, the transfusion done through the girl’s leg was the beginning of the tragedy.
Mohammed-Baba said,
“When that didn’t work, Rukayya was taken back to the hospital on October 12 where the parents met the hostile staff, and when they examined the leg again, they found out they could not handle the case anymore, so they (the parents) were referred to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital at Shika.”
She explained that the girl was immediately taken to the emergency room of the hospital, where the doctor in charge examined the leg and told the parents the leg was already infected and might be amputated to prevent the infection from spreading. He however assured them the hospital would do its best to salvage the situation.
Unfortunately, there was no improvement, thus, the following day, the leg was amputated.
Meanwhile, according to the test conducted on the girl at Salama hospital, the parents were told that Rukayya is a sickle cell carrier, thus when the parents got to ABUTH, they also told the doctors on duty the girl was a “sickle cell carrier”, thus, she was admitted among other SS patients.
But by the time another test was conducted on her to ascertain her genotype, it was revealed that she is AS and not SS as they were told at Salama hospital.
Abubakar lamented that if not for the wrong diagnosis in the hospital, the little girl would still have her two legs intact. He stressed that till date, the family had not heard from the hospital, and that instead of showing concern and taking responsibility for their action, they had even denied giving the girl blood transfusion on her leg.
Since then, the little girl has been constrained to use crutches and she has resumed schooling, but not without asking for the whereabouts of her leg.
Worried by the development and with no clear understanding of what happened, Rukayya, who is in Nursery Two, keeps asking her parents why they took her to the hospital to have her leg “removed,” thus, she keeps asking for her leg, especially when she sees her friends playing around the compound or when she sees them walking the way she used to.
When Punch spoke to Rukayya on the phone on Friday morning, she sounded feeble, and all she could say was “Hello…my leg.”
“She makes us cry, but we leave everything to God,” Abubakar said, adding, “Up till now, we’ve not heard anything from Salama hospital, and they knew about what happened. The little girl has resumed school and she uses crutches now. When they brought the crutches to her initially, she said she wouldn’t use them. She said she wanted her leg back. Sometimes she asks, where is my leg, and that makes everybody cry.
“Salama hospital is the cause of this, but we have been admonishing the parents to take heart. The hospital is not very far from their house, but they couldn’t even come to see the girl or show some sympathy, maybe because they know the parents are not rich and they cannot make noise about it. That is why they are not showing concern. But we appreciate the founder of GIWAC for taking up the matter.”
Responding to the allegations of wrong diagnosis, the Manager of Salama hospital, Mr. Kehinde Adetunbi, told our correspondent on the phone that the information being circulated about the incident on the social media was false. He however directed the doctor who attended to the girl in the hospital to talk to Punch.
The doctor, who would not disclose his name, said the blood transfusion was on the girl’s right hand and not on her leg. He maintained that the girl is a sickle cell carrier, as revealed by the test conducted on her in the hospital in 2014.
He said,
“I was the one that admitted and referred her. She had been admitted several times in the past with recurrent history of low blood level, because she is sickle cell. When she was brought in, she had 16 per cent blood level, which was life-threatening. That was why she had to be transfused. The reason for the referral was that she was having abdominal pain. And that is what is on her referral note.
“By the time they got to Shika, they noticed that she had osteolysis of the leg. They wanted to do a debridement (the removal of damaged tissue or foreign objects from a wound) and the father refused. So, it took them three weeks before they went back for the surgery. By the time they went back, the leg had become gangrenous (a type of necrosis caused by a critically insufficient blood supply), so they had to do a full amputation.
“It is not unusual for SS carrier to have occlusion (blockage) of blood vessel, especially the veins and arteries that supply blood to the leg. What they did was a distortion of medical information possibly to get public sympathy. These are known complications of sickle cell.”
On why the hospital had not contacted the patient since the incident, Adetunbi said the hospital was not in the know of what happened eventually and that it was later they got to know through the social media that she had been amputated.
Meanwhile, Mohammed-Baba said her organisation had filed a petition on behalf of Rukkaya to the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El Rufai, the state Commissioner of Police, Speaker of the state House of Assembly, the elected members representing her constituency (Basawa constituency) in the state Assembly and the chairman of her local government (Sabon Gari).
She also called on concerned bodies to look into the case, while calling on the Nigerian Medical Association to set up a committee to investigate the incident.
She added,
“If the hospital is disciplined accordingly, it will serve as a deterrent to others because people do anything and get away with it. All (private) clinics should be checked to see whether they have licence to operate or not, because it has to do with human life.
“There could be other victims of such out there, but we know about this because this man came out to talk. That is why I want to follow it to its logical conclusion. We will take up the matter. And that girl deserves adequate compensation.”
Effort to get the state Commissioner for Health was not successful as of press time.
A pretty young lady who on Twitter is identified as Saidy Brown (@saidy_brown), is trending on social media after she took to the platform to share how she found out at 14-years-old that she was HIV positive and didn’t think she would live to see 18.
Now she’s almost 22 and she’s still bubbling with life and looking healthy. After sharing her story online yesterday, the lady who labels herself as an #HIVictor was hailed by internet users.
Miss Josephine Faborpregha Dickson, sister to Gov. Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa, got married to her hearthrob, Hon. Ogbere Michael, a Member of Bayelsa State House of Assembly.
The traditional rites and bride price payment took place earlier today, as the wedding ceremony is currently taking place at the Palace of Melzedek, Toru-Orua, Bayelsa State.
Media personality, Uti Nwachukwu has disclosed that he’s all set for marriage – he spoke to The Sun, where he opened up on his new girlfriend, valentine and marriage.
“I like the way she makes me feel. I blush every time I talk about her. Whenever I
display my madness she knows how to calm me down. I don’t feel chocked in our relationship. Even when I feel choked, it doesn’t make want to run away from the relationship” he said.
He disclosed that his girlfriend doesn’t stay in Nigeria, so he didn’t spend valentine with her, but however he did something romantic for her;
“I sent her a very romantic text message in the morning to spice up her day and the text got her real good. She was just blushing. Well, she is not in Nigeria so we didn’t spend it together. For me here, it was work and more work. As an entertainer, we don’t really celebrate festive periods because that’s when our work gets serious.”
And then he drops the bombshell on marriage;
“Marriage doesn’t have to do with age but maturity. African mothers have to accept change and stop putting pressures on their children to give them grandchildren. Women of nowadays want more; they just don’t want to bear that title ‘wife’ alone. They also want to take charge and contribute immensely to the home. Who wants a woman that only paints nails and crosses her legs at home. I believe in ‘flex well’ and then ‘calm down’. For me, I have ‘flexed well’ now I am ‘calming down’ and getting ready to settle down.”

Some people have said that the two people really bringing live to the show are housemates, TTT and Bisola – as the pair continue counting their days in the Big Brother house, they’re sure making their time spent there count!
ThinTallTony, who has not been dubbed as the playboy of the house, had yet another steamy session with his fellow housemate, Bisola, who gave him an erotic lap dance, as she enclosed his genitals with her derriere as if they were performing real s*xual intercourse, this happened just after all the festivities of the Friday night games.
A lady in Lagos got beaten ruthlessly, after those who came to rescue her from an alleged “phone thief”, turned against her.
The man who was accused of stealing the said phone, was first pounced on and beaten to coma by the crowd in an incident that happened at Williams street, Bakery bus stop in Aguda Surulere, Lagos.
However, the accuser, who was already on a commercial bike to flee with the man’s phone, ran out of luck, as someone who saw all that happened, stopped her from escaping.
Here’s how Akin, who present at the scene of the incident, narrated the story;
“This happened this evening at Williams street, Bakery bus stop in Aguda Surulere, Lagos. This woman was beaten and disgraced for laying false allegation against a man that he stole a phone from her.
Meanwhile this woman was on already on okada running with the man’s phone while they had started carrying out jungle justice on the man, already in coma, before someone who actually saw what happened stopped her from escaping.”
An advert by a Chinese drink company, has caused lots of criticism, as it claims that its drink can enlarge the breasts.
In the advert, well endowed models can be seen running on the beach with their breast almost popping out from what they
were wearing, with the said drink in one hand, which had the slogan ‘A can a day and you’ll be white, tender and busty‘, while the model says: ‘A can of Coconut Palm a day will give you a graceful figure.‘
It is now expected that the country’s Consumer Protection Bureau as well as the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television will investigate claims made in the controversial advert, as no company, that doesn’t produce nutritional products, is allowed to make such claims under the Chinese regulations.
The company might also be sanctioned for sexualized imagery, and vulgar language used in the advert.
Nigerian singer, Sexy Steel who is in a “long-distance” marriage, disclosed what he does anytime he feels horny, in a new chat with Saturday Beats.
He says:
“If I am moved sexually, all I need to do is travel to Dublin to meet my wife” he said.
The singer, a proud father of two boys, who doesn’t like wearing his wedding bands, also said:
“As a person, I do not believe in wedding bands. We are not perfect but as a married man, there are some things that you should not be caught doing.
As an entertainer, wearing a wedding band translates to chasing my female fans away. If they think that someday they might get married to Sexy Steel, that is fine. It is what they think and it would help me enlarge my female fan base.
We are not bankers or doctors, we are in the entertainment business and there can be temptations at times but just keep your marriage away from social media and prying eyes.
Ladies love married men and if they want to have anything to do with you, they do not care if you are wearing a wedding ring or not. In fact, the wedding ring is an invitation for them.
These ladies believe that married men are so caring and they know how to take care of women. They know how to treat women right. I don’t bring my family to the social media or even the entertainment industry.
My family do not even live in Nigeria, they are based in Dublin. I am in Nigeria focused on my work. I am a disciplined person and I can never get carried away by any woman.
It is never going to happen. I am focused on the entertainment business and it does not mean that I should lose focus or forget the fact that my family is somewhere. Nobody can put my marriage asunder.”
In a quite unusual event that will be holding by midnight on March 26, April 24 and May 23, witches, Wiccans, shamans, heremeticists, cunning folk, sorcerers and sorceresses, hoodooists, occultists, magicians, ceremonialists and ritualists will be gathering to cast a spell on America’s President, Donald Trump, as the first ritual has been held on February 24.
This is coming after President Trump’s proposed plan of tracking down witches.
Ingredients needed to cast the spell on Donald Trump and his supporters include; an unflattering photo of Trump, a tiny orange candle, a Tower tarot card, bowls of water and salt, a pin which is used to carve Trump’s name on the candle.
Once these have been gathered, they will then be arranged in a pleasing position along with a feather, a white candle and an ashtray or dish filled with sand.
The witches are also expected to chant:
‘I call upon you / To bind / Donald J. Trump / So that he may fail utterly / That he may do no harm/To any human soul.’
The second verse tackles a different issues, with the lines: ‘Bind him so that he shall not break our polity / Usurp our liberty / Or fill our minds with hate, confusion, fear, or despair.’
Here’s the chant for the spell for Donald Trump’s supporters;
‘Bind them in chains / Bind their tongues / Bind their works / Bind their wickedness,’ sing the women and men, who at this point are told to take the orange candle and light President Trump’s photo on fire.
To close things out the phrase ‘So mote it be!’ is repeated three times and the candle blown out.
It is important that while blowing out the person is ‘visualizing Trump blowing apart into dust or ash.’
Witches are also directed to ground themselves after the ritual before disposing of the candle. It is expected the spell will stop Donald Trump from doing more harm than good and also banish him.
However, some witches are growing concerned as the event draws near, and taking issue with whether or not the binding spell is appropriate, because they do not believe it comes from a place of love.
The United States President is yet to respond to this.
Gov. Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, who was on his back from the swearing in ceremony of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu in Akure, stopped his convoy to save accident victims.
The accident victims who sustained injuries on their head, which came as a result of the collision between a volkswagen car with registration number; Ondo BDR-223XA, painted in the taxi colour of Ondo State and a MAN Diesel truck along Akure-Ondo Road, were first taken to General Hospital in Ondo town, where they were rejected because the workers were on strike, before being taken to a private hospital were they are currently being treated.
Here’s the official press statement and photos;
“Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, on Friday, stopped to personally coordinate the rescue of three accident victims along the ever busy, Akure-Ondo Road in Ondo State.
Governor Amosun who came across the accident scene while returning from the swearing in ceremony of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu in Akure, stopped his convoy and personally led efforts to retrieve the accident victims from the bush.
The accident involved a Volkswagen car with registration number, Ondo BDR-223XA, painted in the taxi colour of Ondo State and a MAN Diesel truck, which apparently ran the taxi off the road.
The three female victims of the accident appeared to have sustained injuries on the head and this prompted the Ogun State governor to direct his security team to immediately take them to the General Hospital in Ondo town.
Although the accident victims were rejected at the public health facility because the workers were said to be on strike, Governor Amosun then directed that they should be taken to a private hospital in Ondo town where they were admitted and treated.”

A Facebook post that showed pupils of a private nursery and primary school, Early Dew Montessori Academy, Enugu, aged between four and seven years, in a police van, purportedly arrested for failing to do their assignments, and also for wearing dirty uniforms, caused outrage on Social media during the week.
The incident, according to reports, took place in the school on February 16.
The picture, which was said to have been posted on Facebook by a parent of one of the pupils in the school, was reportedly captioned ‘Enugu State Government police in conjunction with Early Dew Montessori Primary School, GRA Enugu, arresting 4 to 7 year-olds and putting them behind a Hilux – the same place they put dead bodies, and where they could have jumped out from fearfully, for not doing their assignments’.
The caption gave the impression that the Enugu State Government was involved in the affair, a development which drew the ire of the Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi-led administration.
The government immediately moved to correct the impression, and on Monday, February 20, suspended the operations of the school. The school is currently being threatened with permanent closure.
Commissioner for Education, Professor Uche Eze, who announced sanctions against the school, described the development as ‘an embarrassment to the state government and a serious psychological abuse of the concerned children’.
Besides the suspension, the school management was also ordered to apologise, in writing, to the state government, parents of the ‘abused’ children, and the entire people of Enugu State. These measures have to be carried out before the suspension could be lifted. Failure to do so, the school will be closed, permanently.
The commissioner said the measures would serve as a warning to other private schools in the state who adopt ‘unethical practices’ in the name of corporal punishment.
But the woman in the eye of the storm, the proprietress of the school, also known as ‘school mummy’, Mrs Ify Okonkwo, has blamed the entire episode on misunderstanding.
According to her, the ‘invitation’ of the police, the ‘arrest’ of the erring pupils, and their placement in the police van, were all part of an arranged ‘stunt’ that was meant to discourage indiscipline, and also instill hardwork and good conduct among pupils in the school.
Okonkwo said she collaborated with some parents to execute the stunt, adding that she was the one that shared pictures of the incident on a Whatsap forum she created for parents of pupils in the school.
Addressing journalists, Okonkwo, who was in company with parents of some of the pupils in the school, said the incident was stage, managed, as the pupils were merely told to get on the back of the van, where they were made to pledge to be of better behaviour.
The proprietress said,
“Being an educationist, what happened in the school on February 16 was to encourage the children to be focused. I brought the police to come and talk to the children and to motivate them to read on their own without being pushed.
“In my mind, I thought I was doing it to bring the children up in a way that they will be attached to their studies. No child was manhandled neither did they point a gun at any of the children.
“I was the person that took the pictures and we have a group chat I opened for parents as one family to brief them on the school’s activities.
“When I took this action, I posted it (pictures) on the platform, with the caption ‘Some children were arrested today for not doing their homework, for not reading their books, for not behaving well, but they promised to change’.
“I didn’t mean any harm; I meant well for the kids. If not, I wouldn’t have made it public – it would have been between me and the teachers.”
Okonkwo said the parents commended her when she posted pictures of the incident on the Whatsapp forum.
“When I uploaded it on the platform, parents were commending me,” she said, although she added that the particular parent who in turn posted the pictures on Facebook with the ‘mischievous’ caption, has issues with the school management.
Insisting that the pupils were not actually arrested, the proprietress said,
“I am aware that those children are still minors and no offence they committed would warrant an arrest. So how do you think that those children were arrested? Who will have that kind of heart to arrest these little children?”
One of the parents, Mrs Jessica Nnamani, corroborated the proprietress’ claims.
Nnamani said she was at the school on the day of the incident, and played a role in the ‘drama’.
She said,
“I am one of the parents in the school. On that day, I came to the school to give my son who is not well his hourly drug. When I got to the school I saw some kids that morning who were looking very dirty. When I saw that, I wasn’t happy, as a mother who would want her kids to look clean and I turned to the school mummy and asked, ‘Where are those children coming from? Did their parents bring them here this morning looking this way?’
“I was disappointed.
“She told me that she had a plan on how to deal with people that come to the school looking dirty, the stubborn ones and those that are not doing their homework.
“She then told me the drama she wanted to do, that I should help to stage manage it very well.
“She invited police and when they came, all the children that were dirty, those that were stubborn and those that weren’t doing their home assignments were brought out at around 9:00 am and they were told that the police were going to take them to Abuja, unless they promised to be coming to school clean, to be obedient, and also ready to do their home assignment.
“I played the intercessory role by begging the ‘school mummy’ to tamper justice with mercy, promising that they would change. I said, “School mummy’ please don’t take them away, they will change”. I then asked them, ‘Okay, are you people promising school mummy that you will do well from now on?’ They all said yes.”
Continuing, she said, “They (pupils) were rather laughing. They (police) now took them behind the van – it was then they started begging.
“If I should say, she (proprietress) didn’t mean any harm. As a parent, I supported what she did. She did it in the interest of the pupils.”
The woman said she uses a similar approach to discipline her kids.
Nnamani added,
“When my child proves stubborn and I drive them to a police checkpoint, I will bring that one out and ask police to take him and punish him because he is stubborn, and you will see him dragging my clothes begging that he will not do such a thing again, that he will change, and police will tell him “Make sure that your mum doesn’t bring you here again”.
Be that as it may, the school remains closed, until further notice.
Meanwhile, the school management has apologised to Enugu State government. The apology was conveyed in a letter addressed to the commissioner fovr education.
“We promise and undertake that such will never happen again, and appeal mostv humbly that the closure of the school be lifted so that our children are not affected negatively by the continued closure of the school,’’ parts of the letter said.
