TB Joshua Dishes Out $33,000 (N10m) On Nigerian Deportees From Libya. (Photos)

A group of Nigerian deportees from Libya have revealed harrowing details of their thwarted efforts to illegally travel to Europe.

Fifty-two of the 154 who were deported from the North African country last Monday shared their sordid experiences publicly at The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) in Lagos State on Sunday 16th October where they had come to seek ‘refuge’.

According to Tracy Stephen, an Edo-State indigene, the treatment they endured in the course of their journey was nothing short of inhumane.

“My mother borrowed N280,000 to finance my travels,” the young hairdresser explained, surrounded by a bunch of other disheveled deportees, mainly female teenagers. “I deposited the money to the man that said he would take us abroad, although I never saw his face. He said I would be in Italy in two weeks.”

Tracy travelled from Edo State to Kano before being “packed like sardines” into the back of a Hilux van.

“We were 48 in the van which was supposed to take only 8,” she recounted.

The subsequent three-day journey through the Sahara Desert was hellish.

“We didn’t sleep nor eat or drink water,” she said, describing how dead bodies lay strewn across the desert floor, evidence that countless others attempting the same journey had woefully met their end.

Arriving in Sabha, Libya, Tracy reminisced on her first drink of water in more than 72 hours of the harsh sun.

“The water was dirty but we didn’t have any choice. We drunk from the well before we discovered there was a dead body inside.”

Hidden under a makeshift ‘watermelon truck’, the journey continued until the group reached Tripoli where they were encamped for months along with hundreds of other illegal immigrants awaiting the dangerous sea crossing to Sicily.

“We ate only once a day – scraps of food which only filled the palm of your hand.”

Vulnerable girls were raped regularly at gun-point by their traffickers.

When her turn finally arrived, Tracy was horded onto a flimsy rubber dinghy. A boat meant for less than 40 swelled until 140 had boarded – young children and babies amidst the adults.

“There was no life-jacket and none of us could swim,” she said.

Reaching Italian waters with no rescue boat in sight, the captain decided to retrace his steps back towards Libya when disaster struck.

“Fuel ran out and we were in the middle of nowhere. No food. No water. Just the sea.”

One of the immigrants on board soon died.

“We were afraid to throw the body out of the boat because it would attract sharks,” she said. After three days adrift, the make-shift boat was eventually sighted by the Libyan coast-guard.
“They arrested us all and sent us to prison for three months,” Tracy divulged.

Through the facilitation of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), she was deported back to Nigeria last week.

“I wished I had not left my home and country,” she tearfully confessed. “These are the same clothes I have been wearing for the last seven months.”

Tracy’s experiences echoed countless more who recounted their tales including Osama Osifo, a 300-level University of Benin student, who said that he was kidnapped in Libya.

tb-joshua-helps-refugees3

After several torture sessions with his older brother on the phone listening to the sound of his screams, a ransom of N250,000 was paid to secure his release. Whilst incarcerated, his elderly father died “because of the shock”.

“I thought Nigeria was hell when I was leaving this place,” Osama stated after he was eventually deported following several months of suffering in Libyan prison. “I now see it as Heaven.”
“At Lagos airport, the IOM provided two buses – one to take us to our State and one to take us to Synagogue,” the albino stated. He opted to come to the church.

Precious Chioma sold all her possessions and travelled with her two young boys to Libya. However, she soon resorted to drinking her own urine and feeding it to her sons to survive the harsh conditions she met after being captured under the ‘watermelon truck’.

tb-joshua-helps-refugees4

At the church service, N10,000,000 ($33,000USD) was given out to the group on behalf of ‘Emmanuel TV Partners’, with each of the deportees receiving N150,000 ($500USD) alongside two bags of rice to “start their lives afresh”.

Pastor TB Joshua used the opportunity to advise youth.

“It is where God wants you to make it that you will make it, not where you want to make it or where you admire,” he said.
He also advised people not to be deceived by the seemingly ‘flashy lifestyles’ of many who will be returning to their homeland during the festive season.
“A decorated slave is not only a slave but a big fool. Be careful – appearance out there is deceptive. Warn your children!”

“We Stayed Without Food For 40 Days” – Freed Boko Haram Girls Share Distasteful Ordeal In Insurgent’s Hands.

freed-chibok-girl

The 21 freed Chibok schoolgirls have aired out their ordeal in the hands of the Boko Haram insurgents and how they lost hope of ever returning to their families.

A thanksgiving service was held yesterday, 16th October, 2015, at the Directorate of State Services (DSS) facility in Abuja, where the girls have been kept since last Thursday when they returned.

Gloria Dame, who spoke on behalf of the girls after the service, recollected how they went without food for “one month and 10 days’’ in the bush.

Speaking in Hausa, Gloria, who is Number 139 on the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) movement’s list of abducted girls, said their survival in captivity was an act of God.

“I did not know that a day like this will come that we will be dancing and giving thanks to God among people.

“For one month and 10 days we stayed without food. I narrowly escaped bomb blast in the forest.
We are praying to God to touch the heart of Boko Haram to repent and we are calling on Nigerians to pray and fast for the release of our remaining ones in captivity,’’ she said.

While the service was going on, the parents of the freed girls arrived at the venue and were reunited with their loved ones after two and a half years with their abductors.

As soon as they arrived, emotions took over as tears of joy rolled down the eyes of parents and girls. Tears flowed freely as parents took turns to identify their daughters, while one woman simply carried her daughter on her back in happiness.

Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, warned against comments which could jeopardise the release of the remaining girls.

He said President Muhammadu Buhari had proved critics wrong by securing the release of the girls. He said:

“There are many reckless analysts and commentators who are not helping the situation. We still have many of our children in captivity.
“Therefore we have to be careful with the kind of comments that we make. We must not make comments that will make the release of these girls difficult or impossible.”

Mohammed, who quoted from the Scriptures (Those who are with us are more than those who are with them), said those who doubted the sincerity and commitment of the administration to the safe release and the reunion of the abducted Chibok girls with their parents were disappointed.

He added:

“When the President said the Boko Haram saga will not be closed until all the girls abducted have been released and reunited with their families safely, those who doubted did not believe us so we thank God this day has come.”

He appealed to the parents of the girls who are yet to be freed to continue to exercise patience: “This is the beginning and we are very optimistic that very soon another batch bigger than this will be released. I want to assure you that these negotiations are ongoing even as we speak.”

The Chairman of the Parents of the Abducted Chibok School Girls, Yakubu Nkeki debunked some reports alleging that 18 of the 21 freed girls are pregnant and denied that the girls were radicalised by Boko Haram.

Some leaders of the BBOG movement who were shut out of the event expressed amazement that “some people” are too desperate to make political gains out of the entire situation.

“Our eyes are on the goal and not the glitz of photo opportunities,” Dr. Emman Shehu, one of the BBOG leaders said.

The gay rights activist, who is counting down the days to his wedding which is set to hold next month, shared this throwback photo of himself in 1999 when he says he and Denrele acted for Atiku’s wife.

He wrote:

“Day 13 of 30 days to my wedding of 30 things to be grateful for. The first time I put on a dress was at university of Lagos. I was drafted to act a role at the last minute as the character did it turn up. I am sure @denrele_edun will remember this event. We were acting for Atiku’s wife while she was visiting. Many times after that, I have dressed. I dressed up hosting many gay parties in #Lagos. In 1999, as a very young 24years old, I won the glamorous Miss Gay Lagos. It was an honour. As a man (yes, just in case some of you are confused) wearing a dress and heels and stockings is liberating for me. I am not a woman and I do not want to be a woman. When I wear dresses, I wear them as a man.m, and this is why it is very liberating for me. It connects with my vulnerability. As an African man, there is an expectation of what it means to be a man. Wearing a dress is also a statement of fuck you to patriarchy. I don’t do conformity. I live in my head and in my world. I would go naked and take a picture of it if I feel so good about it. Then came last year and I met @msposhp and she changed my world. She made me understand that beauty has no gender and a dress is a dress is a dress. The joy I feel when I take on the character of Ms Posh is overwhelming. She takes me to another level. Also when @obehinoir make her up, she transforms into this beautiful woman I have been dying to meet and know. Ms Posh is an act, she is only real in my head and in your imagination. That imagination if you let it loose will change the way you see women and treat women. As a man a dress, I have experience sexual harassment and verbal abuse and to me it is interesting how just a dress changed the way people treat me. Unfortunately, Ms Posh is not invited to me wedding, but I am sure, she will be standing next to me in my head when I say ‘I Do’ to my man. #samesexmarriage #samesexwedding #30daysofthankfulness #equalmarriage #weddingday #dragqueen”

chibok-girl-with-child

Father of one of the Chibok girls who were arrested in April 2014, Deborah Jafaru, who was the only girl who returned with a baby has explained how his daughter was taken and how grateful he is.

According to him,

“Unlike the others, Deborah had already finished her secondary school; she did not make her papers and returned to rewrite her WASCE when she was taken.

“She just got married two weeks before returning for her papers and they took her. Her husband has remarried now. They abducted her with pregnancy and she had my grandchild there but I’m just grateful to God and the government for returning my daughter and grandchild to me safely. Words cannot describe how I feel at the moment.”

Deborah is the only one among the girls who returned with a baby.

Mrs Rifkatu John, carried her daughter Jummai Bakwa, on her back, with her wrapper like a baby. She refused to leave her daughter throughout the event . She said:

“I never thought that I would see my daughter again in this life time; I prayed so much for her safe return and here she is finally. I just want to give God all the glory and thank the government for bringing her back. I pray that the other Chibok mothers have the opportunity to see their daughters again and experience the joy I feel today,” she said.

The girls have not been handed over to their parents completely because they are still undergoing some trauma counselling, The Nation reports.

“To be gay is honorable, a gift from God” – Nigerian gay pastor, Jide Macaulay says

gayy1

Nigeria’s First openly gay pastor and founder of House of Rainbow Fellowship, Rev. Jide Macaulay wrote what you’d find below on his instagram page:

To be a homosexual is honourable, a gift from God. It is who I am. God makes no mistakes. Knowing the truth as a gay christian is liberating and gives me the most joy of my freedom.

I have paid the price for lying to be heterosexual. Pretending to be who you are will only harm you. EVERYONE was hurt, my father, mother, wife, son, my siblings, in-laws, friends and relatives etc.

I was FORCED to lie. I justified these lies with religion, culture, tradition and law.

I lied to myself for all of my adolescence, I lied to my family and friends. Because I didn’t know any better.

I lied to my ex-wife because I was afraid of telling the truth.

I lied in my prayers asking God to cure me of homosexuality instead of helping me to come to terms.

My religious belief and dogma nearly killed me. I wrongly married a woman and badly hurt everyone.

I suffered emotional and psychological breakdown and through it all I survived. – Reverend Jide Macaulay

“I see Aisha Buhari as a woman frustrated in trying to communicate with her husband” – Charly Boy

cb-1

Read what Charly boy has to say:

Guys, you must have read or heard by now our President’s answer when he was asked in the presence of other world leaders, in far away Germany, which party his wife, Aisha belongs to. He gave a classic “Aboki” answer, “I don’t know what political party she belongs to but all I know is that she belongs to my kitchen, my room and other rooms” whaaaat??!!!

Haba, some kin things just dey run belly.

My people, how many of una hear or read Aisha Buharis BBC interview. In that interview I could see a woman who has considered all her options and all consequences and is simply crying out for help because domestically things are perhaps not peaceful or that her husband’s power and authority has been hijacked by the treacherous cabals who insist on making some of our Presidents (past and present)a mere figure head. The same cabal hijacked Goodluck Jonathan administration, an easy going man who was never wired for treachery and evil, in fact that one personally confessed to me himself that he is under siege by the Cabal.

People, there is fire on the mountain o!!!!!!

As far as I’m concerned if Buhari is not in charge, then who the heck is in charge of this derailing ship called Nigeria.

I know that it is very lonely at the top. If you’re a family man, you know how easy or difficult it is in running your family how much more a country/nation as big as Nigeria.

Our leaders know they are ultimately responsible for the lives and fortunes of the people and If they fail, many of us will get poorer, suffer and die for nothing. They often deny the burdens and loneliness of leadership, thereby becoming incapable of facing reality, they tune down their inner voice, because it is too painful to confront or even acknowledge it; it may, however, appear in their dreams as they try to resolve conflicts rustling around inside their heads, cabinet or homes, therefore , their work and function derails and personal lives get out of balance. They lose touch with those closest to them̬ like their spouses, children, and best friends who can no longer synchronise their points of view and they eventually lose their capacity to think logically about important issues. Long and short, the country and its people suffer, especially the poor masses. My people, look at Us now. Hummmmm!!!

I dont believe that our First Lady, Aisha is crazy, unhinged or trying to sabotage her husband’s efforts, rather I see her as a woman who is frustrated in trying to communicate with her husband, a woman who probably havent had any lately in decades, a woman who is sick and tired of all the male macho bullshit and above all very afraid of these treacherous, vile and evil Cabal whose plans are not in the country’s best interest. She may have her game going. Who knows. For the First Lady to say all that she said understanding the consequences living with the kinda man who wouldn’t really mind confining her to the kitchen, is very noble and courageous. My people can this explain the confusion in Aso Rock today or the inaction/insensitivities of Buhari’s government towards us, the people? The bad spirits have taken over, Holy Ghost Fire!!!!!!!!

I didn’t vote in the last election because the choice of candidates was wrong, it was like being between the devil and the deep blue sea. And I have always said that what Nigeria/Nigerians need now, is a benevolent dictator who can arrest these cabals and for once have a leadership that thinks about Us, the People.

The divisive tactics of the Cabal is legendary. They are egotistical sleazy riffraffs who can never comprehend the concept of leadership, service to the people. They are blinded by their greed and the evil that dwells in their hearts.

From where I stand, I feel the Cabal have succeeded in overpowering our President, hence, Aisha’s cry for help. And it doesn’t make it any easier when the person in question has a mungo park mentality. Kai wahala dey.

My people what do we do? how can we help to get our oga to see our predicament and take immediate action to rescue our future?. Nigerians are no longer happy, they are hungry and angry. God ain’t going to send down manna from heaven so forget about night vigil and your pastors, it is our call to face this monster or we will all die one after another before our time.

Any suggestions is permitted because this doesn’t look good at all.

I don talk my own.

“I slept with 6 other ladies,” says Irish man accused of infecting his Nigerian girlfriend with HIV

irishs

James Turner, the 67-year-old Irish national based in Nigeria, accused by his 31-year-old Nigerian girlfriend of deliberately infecting her with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus, HIV, has said he slept with no fewer than six other ladies, Vanguardngr reports.

Turner also confessed to have sent his wife back to the Republic of Ireland, when his status was confirmed, in order not to infect her with the virus.

Among the girls Turner had slept with was his girlfriend’s friend. The concerned ladies, it was gathered, were all commercial sex workers.

However, unconfirmed reports said he had slept with more than six ladies. His girlfriend, Helen, reported Turner to the police last Friday, after the latter reneged on his promise to settle the former with N2.5m.

Helen said that she stumbled on the anti-retroviral drugs her lover of eight years had been secretly taking, four months after his status was confirmed. Turner, was released on bail, weekend, to treat himself of an injury he sustained on one of his elbows, from which he was bleeding.

Police, however, assured that measures had been put in place to prevent him from further infection of other ladies. Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmus, said: “We are waiting for expert’s opinion to conclude the charge against the suspect.”

Hired killer falls in Love with his target in Lagos, Demands Sex (Photo)

hired

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old suspect, Tayo Adeyemi, who confessed to have been hired to kill a female hotel lodger in the Alakija, Satellite Town area of the state.

Adeyemi, who hails from Kwara State, told our correspondent that he was arrested by the police after he sneaked into the hotel, White House, and demanded that his target, simply known as Rosemary, had sex with him so he would spare her life.

PUNCH Metro gathered that Adeyemi, who dropped out of senior secondary school, was arrested by the Satellite Town Police Division last Thursday.
It was learnt that penultimate Wednesday, Adeyemi was brought by two gang members on a motorcycle to the hotel to kill Rosemary.

However, once Adeyemi laid his eyes on his supposed target, he reportedly fell in love with her and eventually attempted to rape her after she rebuffed his pleas to have sex with him.
Rosemary, however, raised the alarm.

The hotel management subsequently called the police, and Adeyemi was arrested.

Our correspondent learnt that one locally-made pistol and a live cartridge were recovered from Adeyemi, who had been transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Ikeja.

The police said the suspect belonged to a three-man gang, adding that a manhunt had been launched for the fleeing two gang members.

Speaking with PUNCH Metro, Adeyemi said he gave the woman N1,500 to have sex with her, adding that he fell in love with his target.

Adeyemi, who spoke in pidgin English, said, “I was working as a casual worker at a bottling company in the Apapa area before I met the gang members in the Ajegunle area. A friend, Wisdom, had invited me to stay in his house.

“His friends, who are Eiye Confraternity members, saw me and said they had a job for me. They said the job was to kill a woman. I said I could not do such a job, but they threatened to kill me and since they had guns, I was afraid.

“Finally, I was left with no option but to do their wish. One of them, Ahmed, gave me the gun and they brought me on a motorcycle to the hotel. But when I got to the hotel room and saw the woman, I fell in love with her and I had mercy on her.

“I told her that I was sent to kill her, but since I loved her, I would just have sex with her. When she declined, I offered her N1,500, and said I would take her necklaces and wristwatch away and lie to my gang members that she had been killed. But she raised the alarm.

“Everyone in the hotel called the police, the Oodua Peoples’ Congress and other vigilance groups. The hotel management called the police at the Satellite Town division.

“When my parents heard about my arrest, they were disappointed. I told them that I was being threatened by the cult members. I did not mean to kill the lady.

Otherwise, I would have shot her and run away.”
The state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, said the command would not give criminals a breathing space in the state.

Pastor arrested for possession of his late sister’s skeleton in Ogun state says she will ‘return back to the skeleton’ this year

sunday-oluwatobiloba

A self-acclaimed pastor and her sister arrested by police in Ogun State for being in possession of a skeleton alleged to be the body of their late sister are making scary claims about the mysterious situation.

Mr Sunday Oluwatobiloba claims that the sister is not dead but on a journey and will return to the skeleton this year.

“She has gone on a spiritual journey and she has been in that position in the last six years.

“We are expecting her back before the end of this years and we are not afraid to live with her,” Sunday explained.

skeleton-02

The skeleton has been in a bedroom in their rented apartment in Peace Land Estate, Akute for six years.

Peace Land Estate lies within Osolo town off Akute-Lambe road in Ogun State.

Sunday’s residence is the second building on Thomas Liasu Street.

The 30-year-old self-acclaimed pastor and his sister has lived there for about a decade.

The bubble, however, busted on the Ogbomoso born son when the caretaker of his two room apartment, whom he has owed rent for more than a year, insisted he must quit the apartment.

It was shocking to discover a human-like skeleton in a sitting position right in the inner room. It is more shocking to know that it is the skeleton of the sister, as they claimed.

skeleton-05

Speaking with Channels Television, Sunday and his sister Elizabeth, who are now in police custody with the skeleton, claimed to have lived with the it for over six years.

No one, including their family members, is aware of this development, something that Sunday’s sister emphasised.

Elizabeth said she was at work the day the sister died.

“Each time they call, we will tell them that she has travelled and that she will soon be back,” she explained.

Condemning the strange action, the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Ahmed Iliyasu, explained that both suspects would be charged as soon as investigations were concluded.

“The suspects are undergoing interrogation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the presence of human skeleton’s in that flat,” he told reports.

While the police continue their investigation, it may also be necessary to carry out some tests on the suspects to ascertain their state of mind.

Great sex is all about spontaneity and exploration—assuming, of course, you have her consent—but there are a few parts of her body you shouldn’t touch willy-nilly.

Here are four such spots you’re better off avoiding. (For explicit instructions on where and how you should touch her, check out How to Pleasure a Woman, the ultimate sex manual from the editors of Men’?s Health.)

Her Cervix

If you reach her cervix during sex, recognize that something is wrong. Remember, this is the narrow canal that connects the vagina to the uterus—where babies grow. That isn’t a place you want to go, so don’t knock on the door.

For starters, it’s painful for her to have something rammed against her cervix, and it could be a sign that you need to shift for a position with shallower penetration.

But it could also mean that she isn’t warmed up enough. Her uterus will actually “lift” upwards when she’s sexually aroused, making her vaginal cavity a few inches deeper than when she isn’t turned on.

So don’t skimp on foreplay, and don’t service her cervix.

The 6 biggest mistakes couples make in bed

black-woman-in-bed-watching-tv

You probably didn’t need a study to tell you this, but research confirms that sex is one of the most crucial ingredients to making long-term relationships thrive. Early on, feeling sexy and passionate isn’t hard—but things can get trickier as the years go on.

Hoping to bust out of a dry spell or prevent the fire from fading? Don’t make these common mistakes.

Mistake #1: Thinking you need a “date night” to connect

If you’re like most couples, the first thing you do when you want to reconnect is schedule a “date night.” “The idea is that after a fancy dinner, candlelight, and wine, you’ll come home and want to jump each other,” says Tammy Nelson, Ph.D., a sex and relationship therapist and author of The New Monogamy.

But what really happens after a meal of rich food, a few glasses of wine, and a late night out? “Most couples want nothing more than to go to sleep,” Nelson says.

The fix: Send the kids out while you and your partner stay home alone. “Think of this as a sacred time for the two of you to practice ‘planned’ spontaneity,” Nelson suggests. “It’s a much better way to act out all of your fantasies, without feeling bloated and hungover the next day.”

“I am Not Allowed To Get Married As An Hausa Actress” – Rahama Sadau

ramatu

About two months ago at the City People Entertainment awards, embattled Hausa actress, Rahama Sadau had a chat with popular journalist Morakinyo Olugbiji where she talked about Challenges faced by actresses in the Northern part of the country.

According to her, one of the challenges is that she is not allowed to get married as long as she is still practicing the profession. She either quits or remain single.

She also told the journalist her dream to become an international actress. With her recent ban from acting in Kannywood and the invitation to Hollywood by Jeta Amata and US singer, Akon, it looks like Rahama’s dream is fast coming to a reality.

Read the interview below…

You just won an award at the 2016 City People Entertainment Awards, what does this award mean to you?

A lot! It means a whole lot. I was actually surprise about the award.

What would you say that you’ve done within Kannywood to have deserved this?

Well, I will first of all say that finally, my hard work paid off because I am a very hard-working person and a dedicated person. Although I was surprised for winning this award because I wasn’t expecting it,however it wasn’t a big surprise because I have been working hard and hard work always definitely get rewarded at the end of the day.

With this kind of prestigious award, do you think Kannywood is finally getting it’s due recognition in the Nigerian film industry?
Yes I think so. It is getting recognised which is why we could be included in this kind of award. In fact I would say Kannywood is now everywhere.

What’s your major challenge as a Kannywood actress?

My main challenge is trying to break from Kannywood into Nollywood. That is the challenge. I want to be able to juggle between the two industries because I believe that I am a Nigerian actress, not a Kannywood actress. Although, I must say that Kannywood is a foundation for me to start. Kannywood is my root, but then I am a Nigerian actress. A true actress is not boxed into a certain area, a true actress is versatile. So, crossing fully into Nollywood and being accepted as a Nigerian actress, instead of being referred to as a Kannywood actress has been a challenge. I just want to beable to act the two together. But I’m gradually overcoming that.

How did you get into acting?

I had always been a big fan of actors. When I was in secondary school, I joined this drama group entertaining our mates in Secondary school. So being an actress wasn’t something that hadn’t been a part of me. I had been dreaming to be an actress, and I am now.

Who is your mentor in the industry?

Ali Nuhu is my mentor. He is my brother and everything. He is the one that introduced me to Kannywood and everywhere. I am where I am today beecause of Ali Nuhu. If not for Ali Nuhu, I wouldn’t be here.

What are you aiming towards career-wise?

I want to be an international actress, apart from being a Nigerian actress. I just don’t want to be this actress that whenever it is mentioned anywhere in the world that she is an actress, what will come to mind of people is she belongs to a particular part. I just want to be a world actress, an international actress. So I have this dream of becoming an international actress.

You want to crossover, but a lot of your colleagues seem to complain about the religious and traditional restraint of acting in Kannywood, with that in mind, do you think crossing over will be possible at all?

Honestly, it feels a bit bad. It makes me feel a little bit bad, but you know, you can’t just crossover because of religion and tradition; what you can just do is to be careful in order not to offend the society. You just have to be very careful, especially in my own case that I’m determined to fully cross over. I will be having this challenges of different culture and tradition from Nollywood and Kannywood. So like I said, you just have to be careful.

Now, that you want to fully cross over to Nollywood, don’t you think the ‘offensive’ style of the industry will rub off on you; like the dress sense and all which might infuriate many?

I won’t express too much to attract the fury of the Northerners. I am an ambassador of my northern society and wherever you find yourself, you must represent yourself in worthy manner. Just as we are here now, everyone that sees us at this event will know that we are from the north.

But that’s because you are still in Kannywood, is that not so?

(Laughs) Even if it is still in Nollywood, there are certain things that you just have to be careful about because you are representing your people and you have to protect their interests and their culture.

I know you are still growing, but what would you consider as the climax of your career so far?

There have been a lot. Like you said, I am still growing. I’m just grateful for every moment. Every moment has been a high point. I just had one with this award. So I would say, Alhamdulillahi, Masha Allah.

You saw a lot of jaw-dropping dressing among Nollywood actresses here, for instance when Kiki Omeli was going to claim her award, she causes a stir because of her bum-short which had her derriere wiggling, what was going through your mind?

Yeah, I saw a lot of Nollywood actresses and their dressing and I was like huh? I mean, we don’t dress like this in the north. You know, I can’t walk like that, I just can’t!

What’s your advice to them, do you condemn that or would you say that it’s a free world?

No, no, no! I’m not complaining. It’s their life! Everyone has their lives to live. I’m not complaining at all. They should just do what they want; what they like. So it’s a free world, yes.

Anyone you would like to work with in Nollywood?

Yes, so many people. I have worked with so many already. I have worked Majid Michel, that’s Ghallywood. I have worked with Mercy Johnson, Eniola Badmus, OC Ukeje, Deyemi Okanlawon and a few others I can’t remember now. I’m aiming to work with many more.

What determines your fashion style; I mean you are all covered up, yet you look attractive and fashionable?

Thank you. I just wear what suits me best. What makes me comfortable. That’s just what determines my dress sense.

I’m aware that once you are married, you will not be able to act again, how true is that?

Yes, yes it’s true! But in my own case, I’d say no because there are politicians that are working mothers. Same, there are journalists and broadcasters that are working mothers. Are they not all media people, so what happens to we actresses? Why? That’s my own challenge I’m posing. why? So in my own case, I say no!

When you go against the norm, don’t you think the society that you are will frown at you, or despise you?

They might. I know they might.

So when that time comes what are you going to do?

Hmm, I don’t know. Honestly I really don’t know.

Are you going to vacate Kannywood?

No, no, no! I won’t do that. I can’t quit acting for marriage.

What if your husband does not want to accept that you continue acting while married to him?

Whoever sees me now and say he wants to marry me, has definitely seen what I do. So, we need to decide whether he can bear me doing this as his wife or not. That’s it. Marriage cannot stop me.

Have you ever been criticised based on being an actress?

Yes. I have been criticised especially for the way I dressed as an actress.

Oh, you are dressed this way and someone still thinks it’s not appropriate?

Yes, yes because they believe we are meant to cover everything totally. Also I have been criticised for the things I do on TV and for the collaborations with Nollywood stars of course. That’s my main challenge, because I am the first Kannywood actress to cross over to Nollywood.

Finally, tell me briefly about your family background?

My families are all northerners. My dad is from Kaduna state while my mum is from Gombe state. The only difference between my parents and other parents is that my parents don’t care what career you choose as long as you are protective of your background and tradition. They allow you follow your dream. My parents don’t believe in a world of strictness because they believe strictness leads a child to become a bad person.

I have no beef with Tiwa Savage – Yemi Alade

tiwa-n-yemi

Sensational Nigerian singer Yemi Alade was in Kenya recently during the recording of the popular show Coke Studio.

In an exclusive interview with Nairobi News, the singer confessed that she can’t get enough of local delicacies such as pilau and how she’d love to learn how to barbecue nyama choma.

1. What happened to the girl group you once belonged to, Naughty Spice? – When I was in high school we formed a group of four girls called Naughty Spice and I was called Ginger Spice. Unfortunately, the group had to break after we were all admitted to different universities. It gave me the push to the right direction of where I wanted to go. One of the girls in the group is the one who went and lined up and filled a form for me to go and compete in a local talent competition which I won.

It became evident that I had to do music because if it wasn’t for her I don’t know where I would have ended up. From that time I have been taking decisions for myself, taking the bull by the horn and trying to be the woman that I really want to be.

2. You recently shared the stage with American musician Jennifer Hudson. How was the experience? – It was such a privilege for Shell to pick me to represent Africa alongside other artistes from different countries who included Jennifer Hudson from US to produce one track.

The idea was basically to take clean and sustainable energy to communities which lack it. We would take things that have been thrown away as waste and use them for energy and keep recycling them and at the end it’s like cleaning up the the environment.

3. Rumour has it that you have beef with Tiwa Savage. Is it true? – Of course not. We are cool people. All over the world people like to knock heads of female together. It’s always the females.

4. What misconception do people have about you? – So many things have been said about me even as an artiste and fellow celebrities as well, but I will take this opportunity to advise them. If you haven’t spoken to someone one on one and they haven’t told you something, don’t listen to them. Don’t believe everything you hear or see if you haven’t talked to the person. I am who I am.

5. How was your life growing up? – Growing up was amazing, I was born to a Yoruba father and to an Igbo mother which are two different tribes in Nigeria. I enjoyed the differences of the cultures and also the similarities, especially the food.

6. What is the most memorable collaboration you have ever done? – The most memorable collaboration right now I will say it is the one I did with Trey Songz, but mostly behind the scenes. In terms of the actual song, that collaboration is yet to come.

7. Any advice to the young girls who look up to you? – You are beautiful no matter what people say. The challenges and shortcomings that you might face today, remember they were there even when our mothers were young girls and it is important for us to raise above the challenges. Do not focus on the challenge, when you see the challenge rise above it and from there you will build a sky scrapper, don’t settle on a challenge find a solution.

“Our son did not slump and die, he was murdered” – Family of Benue State University Medical Student

benue-0

The family of a 500 level medical student of Benue State University (BSU) Makurdi, Apostle Victor Egbe, who died in the early hours of October 12th, said he was murdered as there were deep cuts on his body

Egbe, the founder of Campus Witness Church reportedly went to pray for a sick student at the university clinic when he slumped and died shortly after the prayer.

The body of the deceased had since been deposited at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital morgue. However, a statement issued by Pastor Emmanuel A. Egbe on behalf of the family disagreed with the report alleging foul play:

benue-01

“The family of late Mr. Godwin Egbe is greatly disturbed with the conflicting details of the story about the sudden and mysterious death of their son victor Egbe a five hundred (500)level student of BSU,” the statement reads.

“One version says that, He slumped inside the school clinic. While another version said he came outside, prayed for a while, lean against the wall then slumped. And then yet another version said he slumped at the entrance of the clinic.

“However, the family is still bewildered at the spectrum of inconsistencies in the entire saga. A close observation of the corpse, revealed a SHARP DEEP CUT in-between the chin and the neck, that made him bleed for over ten hours, which the family suspected, he (Victor) must had been stabbed and a major vein cut within his neck region. Also, that his clothes was soaked in blood from his shoulder downward indicates, he started bleeding while standing

benue-02

“In the attempt to uncover the mystery surrounding the death, the family is being frustrated with a perceived conspiracy, that the family members are alarmed and flummoxed at the attitude of most of the eye witnesses that refused to meet with them. Another baffling scenario, is the sudden disappearance of one “Pastor” Solomon, who is believed, was with Victor when the incident occurred. Despite the numerous calls put through to him (Solomon) to show up, proved abortive and up till now, he still at large. Also of equal disturbance, is the call put through, to Victor’s assistant, a female pastor by the same person he (Victor) prayed for, shortly after his death, to inquire if Victor had arrived home safely, but later astonishingly states, Victor slumped in front of him.”

Meanwhile, the university management said they were still investigating the matter and will make their findings known in due course.

In 2014, Pastor Anita filed for divorce from the Believers’ Love World Inc (aka Christ Embassy) founder, Pastor Chris, citing ‘unreasonable behaviour’ as the reason for the dissolution. The details of the dissolution of the 20+ year marriage was kept away from the public. However, she hinted that she was abused and had to endure adultery during the union.

On February 8, 2016, Pastor Anita’s counsels, Attwaters Jameson Hill, announced that the marriage was finally dissolved by a high court in the United Kingdom.

Now, she has sparked rumours of remarriage, plus her blog’s reader whose comment she approved.

We can’t wait for the official announcement/clarification.

Buhari Insists: “Aisha Belongs In My Kitchen, Her Job is to Look After Me”

buhari-3373847b

President Muhammadu insists the place of his wife, Aisha, is in the kitchen.

On Friday, Buhari said his wife belonged in the kitchen, and “the other room,” apparently a euphemism for the bedroom.

He had said this at a press conference after a closed-door meeting, with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, in response to an interview Aisha granted the BBC, where she said that his government had been hijacked.

In the interview, Aisha had also said that she might not support her husband under the present circumstances if he seeks re-election in 2019.

“I don’t know which party my wife belongs to, but my wife belongs to my kitchen and my living room and the other room.” Buhari had said.

“It is not easy to do away with opposition or people who did not follow you along your campaign trail. I hope my wife will remember that I was on the field for 12 years; I tried three times, the fourth time I managed to succeed. And I ended up the first three times in the Nigerian Supreme Court, so I claim superior knowledge over her and the rest of the opposition and I succeeded.

“It is not easy to satisfy the whole Nigerian opposition party or to participate in the government.”

In response to a backlash from the statement, Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman, said the president was only joking.

But in an interview with DW’s Phil Gayle, Buhari reiterated his position, saying the function of his wife was to take care of his home:

DW: Recently your wife criticised your choices for top jobs, and you responded by saying “I don’t know which party my wife belongs to, but she belongs to my kitchen and my living room.” What did you mean by that, sir?

Buhari: I am sure you have a house. … You know where your kitchen is, you know where your living room is, and I believe your wife looks after all of that, even if she is working.

DW: That is your wife’s function?

Buhari: Yes, to look after me.

DW: And she should stay out of politics?

Buhari: I think so.
