“It’s Not Right To Identify Islam with Violence” – Pope Francis

Pope Francis

Pope Francis has refused to describe Islam as “terrorist”, because it is “not fair and not true”.

Francis was asked by reporters on the papal plane returning to Rome from Poland why he never used the word “Islam” when condemning killings by extremists like that of an elderly priest in France last week.

The Pope said “it’s not right to identify Islam with violence”, adding that every religion had its “little group of fundamentalists”.

He said that if he spoke of violent Islam, he would have to speak of violent Catholicism, since Catholics kill too.

Referring to the Islamic State group, Francis, 79, said it “presents itself with its violent identity card, but it’s not Islam”.

During his five-day pilgrimage in southern Poland he prayed privately in a church that God protect people from the “devastating wave” of terrorism in many parts of the world.

Francis told young people who flocked by the hundreds of thousands that they needed to “believe in a new humanity” stronger than evil and warned against concluding that one religion was more violent than others.

“Why Bank Manager Olisa Nwakoby Committed Suicide” – FCMB

Olisa Nwakoby

First City Monument Bank Plc says its official, Olisa Nwakoby, who committed suicide on Friday in front of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Lekki, Lagos State, had personal challenges and became frustrated.

The bank, however, noted that neither the management nor colleagues of the deceased were aware of the challenges, adding that it was working with Nwakoby’s family and the police to unravel the nature of the challenges.

Forty-four-year-old Nwakoby, said to be the manager of the bank’s branch in Lekki, shot himself in the head over a bad debt estimated at N350m on Friday.

The deceased was said to have given out the sum as loan to a bank customer, who allegedly failed to service the loan.

He was reportedly under pressure from the bank’s management to repay the loan and became frustrated as he could not meet the demand.

But the Acting Group Head, Communications and Brand Management of the FCMB, Lola Egboh, who spoke with Punch on the telephone on Sunday, said the suicide had nothing to do with the bank, adding that she did not have the knowledge of any loan.

Egboh, who described Nwakoby’s death as shocking, said the bank would have come to his aid if it was aware that he had emotional challenges.

She said:

“It is rather unfortunate that the incident happened. Mr. Nwakoby was a member of staff of the FCMB. We are not aware that he was facing personal challenges, which led to the incident. As a bank that caters to the well-being of its workers, we have counsellors who could have helped him. This came as a surprise to us as it was to the public. It is such a trying time for the family; we have been in touch with them. There is a lot of speculations going on at the moment, a lot of them unfounded.

“We are working closely with security operatives and his family to understand what could have led to the personal challenges. I am not aware of any loan. I can’t comment on speculations.”

Efforts to speak with the family proved abortive as of press time. But a source close to the family said,

“They were too distraught to speak to the press now.”

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, said a pistol and live cartridges were recovered from the scene, adding that Nwakoby corpse had been deposited at the Lagos Island Hospital’s morgue.

She said:

“At about 9.45am on Friday, one Olisa (Nwakoby) allegedly shot himself in the head with a pistol in front of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church on Northern Foresore Estate, Lekki.

“A team of policemen attached to the Ilasan division visited, examined and photographed the scene. The exhibit, a silver America pistol with five rounds of unexpended ammunition, was recovered to the station while the corpse was removed and deposited at a morgue for autopsy. Investigation is ongoing.”

Tattoos Could Expose You To Cancer, Experts Warn

Wizkid Tattoo

President of the United Kingdom tattoo and piercing industry union, Rick Stevens has kicked against the consumption of the cheap Chinese inks as a way to avert more health hazard to the body.

Stevens said some of these products are not properly checked and this could eventually breed more harms to the body.

According to a report in the Metro, an online news portal, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) also warned that some tattoo inks may cause allergies, itching and even a risk of cancer on their bodies.

The report suggested that tattoos involve scratching, etching, burning or superficially cutting designs, pictures, or words into the skin as a permanent body modification.

In the process of body scarification, scars are formed by cutting or branding the skin by varying methods and sometimes using further sequential aggravating wound-healing methods at timed intervals (like irritation) will cause wound healing to scar more and not scar less.

Stevens therefore advised consumers to pick their colours carefully, adding: “Before you decide to get yourself inked, you might want to think about what you are actually putting into your body, Cancer is a group of disease involving abnormal cell growth with the potential to invade or spread to other parts of the body.”

A Brazilian drug lord, Jarvis Chimenes Pavao who is serving an eight-year prison sentence has been discovered to be doing his time behind bars in a ‘VIP cell’ – complete with a plasma television, a kitchen, three rooms and a DVD library.

Pavao was imprisonned in Tacumbu prison in Asuncion, Paraguay, after being found guilty of money laundering charges.

Yet the jail which is notorious for its terrible living conditions and frequent violence, seemed to have created a luxurious haven for Pavao, who is considered to be one of South America’s deadliest and most feared drug lords.

Photos reveal an expansive three room ‘cell’ consisting of a bedroom, living room and kitchen.

The gangster had an en suite bathroom, a treadmill and a big-screen plasma TV, wardrobes, conference room, air conditioning, tiled walls, furniture, and library.

But Pavao’s cushy life behind bars came to an end at his own doing, after officers began to suspect he was planning to detonate a bomb in order to smash through one of the jail walls and escape.

Investigators flooded the Brazilian’s cell in search of the explosives on Tuesday night, but instead found his luxury prison pad.

After the raid, Pavao’s lawyer said the lifestyle her client was able to lead while locked up was proof of how deeply corrupt the Paraguayan prison system had become.

Check out more photos of the VIP cell.

Tiwa Savage Accused Of Joining The Illuminati After She Displayed A Sign During Performance

savage-e1469700121602

Nigeria’s popular singer, Tiwa Savage, might soon be loosing the love of many of her Nigerian fans as a result of a recent occurrence which has made people accuse her of joining the the controversial Illuminati cult.

At the One Africa Music Festival event last Friday, Tiwa Savage made Nigeria extremely proud as she put up a stellar performance electrifying the audience with her vibrant voice and flexible waist.

However, the accolades are soon fading away after she obviously displayed the widely assumed Illuminati sign at the end of her thrilling performance in Brooklyn.

The assumption was fueled yesterday when the Mavin queen shared the trailer of her upcoming US tour. In the middle of the the short clip, concentric triangles were visible, and as if that was not enough, she threw up the ROC sign, a homage and confirmation of her recent music deal with famous American rapper and business mogul, Jay-Z, owner of Roc Nation who has been fingered to be a prominent member of the Illuminati.

3-10

Fans believe the ‘Roc’ sign – the diamond-shaped hand signal famously used by Jay Z and artistes associated with him – to be an indication that she has joined the Illuminati.

The video clip is currently trending on social media and fans are calling out Tiwa Savage for an official explanation.

The Illuminati is an elite organization of world leaders, business authorities, innovators, artists, and other influential members of this planet.

The coalition unites people of influence drawn from all political, religious, and geographical backgrounds to further the prosperity of the human species as a whole.

While many of its operations require anonymity for the safety of its members, it strives to create a better understanding between its members and the people it has been entrusted to protect.

“My Greatest Fear is Not Making Heaven” – Adekunle Gold Says

kunle

Unlike most people who worry about earthly things, YBNL singer, Adekunle Gold, has revealed that his greatest fear is the thought of not making heaven.

The singer disclosed this in an interview with Tribune News’ Joan Omionawele, published on Saturday, July 30, 2016.

The ‘Sade’ crooner, who recently disclosed that he is not leaving YBNL, was asked about what his greatest concern is.

He said,

“Before now, my greatest fear used to be failure, till I learnt and thought that even if the worst thing happens, you will learn and get better and do something even better, so now, my greatest fear is not making heaven.”

He was however unable to express where he is a born-again Christian or not when his previous comment brought up the subject.

“I think born-again is relative, but yes, I am a Christian.”

How Timothy Iro was killed By a Police Officer in Kano, Igbo Traders Association Demands For Justice

Timothy

The Igbo Traders Association, ITA, in Kano state has demanded for justice over the gruesome murder of Tochukwu Iro by police officers in Sabon Gari, Kano State on Wednesday, July 27.

Tochukwu Iro, a patent medicine dealer was shot by trigger-happy police officers attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, of the Kano state Police Command.

According to eyewitness accounts, the 40-year-old married father of two children from from Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State was allegedly killed at about 12 noon Wednesday along France Road, opposite First Baptist Church in Sabon Gari area of the state.

One of the eyewitnesses who spoke to International Centre For Investigative Reporting(ICIR)

“On Wednesday afternoon, at about 12 noon, we saw Tochukwu walking along the road, as he tried to negotiate Illaro Road, two armed police men walked up to him. They came with tinted glass car. They stopped the car close to First Baptist Church, crossed the road and ordered Tochukwu to stop. When he stopped, there was a mild argument between him and the two armed men; and one of them who was wearing Kaftan brought out a branded police rifle and shot him. When traders around started shouting, the same man shot into the air and bundled the victim into a waiting tricycle, while his partner crossed the road, dashed into the car and zoomed off.”

Speaking during an emergency Press Conference organized by the Igbo Traders Association at the Abubakar Rimi Market, chairman of the traders, Chief Emmanuel Amadi disclosed that Iro died at Murtala Muhammad Specialist hospital Thursday afternoon after a failed operation.

“On that Wednesday, I was attending a market Board meeting with General Manager of Abubakar Rimi Market, security chiefs and other stakeholders when I received a call that one of our members was shot by the police along France Road. I immediately told the market management and they asked me to get more details over the incident. We made arrangements to ensure that he was taken to hospital for treatment.

“Around 9 p.m. on that Wednesday, I put a call across to Murtala Muhammad Hospital and I was told that he was responding to treatment. On Thursday morning, I called the hospital and was told that he was taken to the theatre for operation; but it was so sad that this afternoon (Thursday), we got the news that he could not survive the gun shot. As I am speaking to you now, Tochukwu is dead.

“I have his file here and I can attest to the fact that he was a peace-loving man. We have never known him as a criminal and that is why we wondered why such an innocent man could be killed in such a gruesome manner. Since the news of his death, we have not rested.

“The youths were here in our office this afternoon in protest over the killing of their brother. They are demanding for justice. On our own, we have pleaded with them not to take laws into their hands; and all we are saying is that the killers of Tochukwu must be made face justice” he stated.

The Kano Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Magaji Musa Majia, who confirmed the incident claimed that the deceased was shot because he refused to stop. A statement issued by the command below:

“The Kano State Police Command wishes to inform the public that on 27th July, 2016 at about 1200hrs a team of operatives attached to Special Anti-RobberySquad (SARS) based on tip off along France Road, stopped one Ogochukwu Augustine `m’ of Odutola Street S/gari but he refused to stop. He was subsequently pursued and while trying to escape, he was shot at the hipbone and immediately rushed to Murtala Specialist Hospital where he gave up the ghost while receiving treatment. The Commissioner of Police Kano State Alhaji Rabiu Yusuf has directed for immediate arrest and detention of the team leader and his men for interrogation at the State CIID Kano. He also summoned the Elders of Igbo Community in Kano where he sympathizes with them and assured that Justice will be done. The Commissioner of Police also stated that his primary assignment is to protect life and property and will not condone any Police personnel who risk the life of innocent citizens. The outcome of the investigation will be made public as soon as investigation is completed before further action taken”

“Please Help, My Wife’s Mother Seduces Me!”

I am okay financially, living well and self made. I met Halima on a trip to Dubai.

Hai! Halima is beautiful. Her smooth flawless skin, her dove shaped innocent eyes, her well rounded figure! Kai! Allah! Halima is an Egyptian goddess.

I couldn’t withstand the bulge that greeted my zipline as I watched Halima saunter her way passed the queue with her luggage.

I hurried to her and after a few quick jokes she gave me her number. We started to talk and I realised that Halima owns a fashion school here in Maitama.

I went there and was impressed by how classy the place was. Halima looked as splendid as ever and while we talked all I could think about was how our lips would feel locked together.

Her father is late, he died eight years ago, so I was eager to see the woman that single handedly made Halima into the wonder that she was. And I was not too surprised.

Halima’s mother was as stunning, or even more stunning than Halima. Her wrinkle free, milky white skin would make even the most reverent of reverends rethink his vows. Her luscious well formed lips. Her long flowing natural hair, like a million tears have held their hands, just to cry again. I got married to Halima in one of the spacious chapels in central Abuja, and my world was joyous.

After our first daughter was borne, Halima’s mother decided to come live with us for a while. I was impressed by how even at forty eight, she was quite trendy and chic.

We developed a good rapport and all was fine…Till Halima’s mum started making passes at me.

I started noticing how she touches me, long lingering touches that suggest more than what they at first glance, would imply.

Nowadays, whenever Halima is not home she would wear a short towel and sit in the parlour, opposite me, her open thighs spreading now and then.

Recently, towel clad and wearing nothing within, she came and sat in my laps and asked me to rub her, complaining about how it ached.

I am trying my best to respect myself but the temptation is becoming unbearable and I don’t know how to tell Halima about this.

What if she doesn’t believe me? Afterall it’s her mother for God’s sake! Yesterday, she ran out of the bathroom naked, screaming that she saw a rat. I checked thoroughly and there was nothing.

People, What should I do?

Atiku Abubakar: No One Can Stop My Loyalty To Buhari

Buhari-Atiku

Former Vice President and stalwart of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Atiku Abubakar, has affirmed his loyalty to President Muhammadu Buhari.

The former Vice President stated strongly that his loyalty to President Buhari remains unshaken.

Atiku described as a load of hogwash a newspaper report alleging that he has formed a new political platform.

The report had alleged that Atiku was forming the platform under which he intended to run for President in 2019.

The paper also alleged he had selected Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, as his running mate.

Media Adviser to Atiku, Paul Ibe, in a statement said the report bore the features of a political hatchet job planted by his opponents.

He described them as desperately trying to invent events in order to draw a wedge between him and President Buhari on one hand and the APC leadership on the other hand.

According to Mr. Ibe, the report was,

“…an incompetent product of fiction, so shallow and vacuous that even its authors could not validate its credibility with reliable and verifiable sources.

“Some people of bad faith trying tooth and nail to spread the seeds of discord in the party, and destroy the much needed unity, harmony and cohesion, which are the pillars of strength for every political organisation.”

Mr. Ibe said despite all the smear campaigns and reputation lynching and sponsored falsehoods, Atiku’s loyalty to President Buhari and the APC leadership would not be shaken an inch.

He said Atiku would ordinarily have ignored the malicious report, but rather he chose to react.

Otherwise, his silence could be mistaken as an admission of the falsehoods published against him.

Breaking: JAMB Withdraws 2016 Admission Consideration List Sent to Universities, Others

JAMB-EXAMINATION-IN-ABUJA

This can be confirmed by checking on Jamb’s website www.jamb.org.ng where you’d notice the “Check where you’ve been posted for admission” Link has been removed.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Sunday, disclosed that it has withdrawn a recommended admission list sent to universities and other tertiary educational institutions.

The examination body had compiled lists of successful candidates at the 2016 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) it conducted and forwarded same to various institutions.

According to Premium Times, the compiled admission list which has now been withdrawn, was intended to guide the universities and other institutions in releasing their respective admission lists.

A statement signed by JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, confirmed the withdrawal of the admission list. A portion of the statement said:

“This is to ensure that the University Senate perform its statutory responsibility of conducting the selection of candidates and refer it to JAMB for confirmation in line with the admission criteria of merit, catchment and educationally disadvantaged states as directed by the Hon Minister of Education at the policy committee meeting.

“The earlier list was sent to help fast track the process of admission so as to allow other tiers of institutions also conduct their admission.”

Benjamin urged candidates not to panic and described the withdrawal of the admission list as a proactive step.

“Candidates should not panic because this is part of the process of the 2016 admission exercise. JAMB regrets any inconvenience this decision would have caused the tertiary institutions.

“The Board regrets any inconvenience it’s proactive step would have caused the tertiary institutions.”

There have been a number of policy announcements concerning the 2016 admission exercise, sometimes contradictory.

The federal government earlier announced a ban on screening examinations and directed universities to admit students with their UTME results.

JAMB subsequently announced an end to the use of cut-off marks in compiling admission lists and introduced a new points basis system for the admission exercise.

With the new withdrawal of its admission list sent to the institutions, it is yet to be known by what means students will be admitted for the next session which commences in a few weeks.

Tomato Price Crashes From N25,000 To N800 Per Basket

tomato

A small basket of tomato, which sold for N25,000 in May, is now going for N800 in Kaduna. And, no, it is not a joke.

It had been all anger and pain for households as the price of tomatoes hit the roof across the country as a result of scarcity caused by tuta absoluta, also known as ‘tomatoc ebola’.

This affected the crop in most parts of the north-west, notably Kaduna, Jigawa, Katsina and Kano states.

As a result, the basket prices jumped from the range of N800-N1200 to between N25,000 and N40,000 at the height of the crisis.

At the Line Dogo (Rail Line) tomatoes and vegetable market in Kaduna on Saturday, it was a beehive of activities.

Buyers could not believe their eyes as tomato prices had crashed to a two-month low.

Abass Mai Tumatur, chairman of the tomato sellers, told TheCable it was a “pleasant relief” for everyone as tomato is now available and in large quantities.

Mai Tumatur: Things are getting better

“Tomato scarcity is nothing new, but it was made worse this year by the invasion of the moth,” he said.

He said the insects mutate more during the dry season but don’t survive during the rainy season.

“The rains coupled with the efforts of government have helped tremendously in making tomato available,” he said, praising the government for the “timely intervention”.

He assured the public that the fear is gone now “and hopefully for good”.

Farmers were left stranded and helpless as the moth ravaged their farms and left destruction across the farming community, making a pot of soup as expensive as gold.

Hotels and restaurants, in particular, faced a nightmare as the crisis also shot up the price of canned tomato paste.

Many were not aware of the reasons for the scarcity as frantic efforts were made to to address the situation.

Nasir el-Rufai, the Kaduna state governor, declared a state of emergency and dispatched officials to Kenya to find ways of tackling the ravaging insects.

The cost of the destruction in the state, according to el-Rufai, was close to N1 billion.

Audu Ogbeh, minister of agriculture and rural development, also commissioned experts to find solutions to the disease outbreak “as soon as possible”.

The insect originated from South America around 1912 and has spread to other parts of the world.

Reports suggest the insect came to Africa through Republic of Niger.

Ogun Chained Girl: “Her Mother is Insane”, Says Husband Of Woman Who Chained Her Daughter For Stealing

10-year-rescued-abeokuta

Husband of Chiamaka Okafor, the woman alleged to have chained a 10-year-old girl, Promise Udeh, rescued by the Ogun State Police Command, has made an excuse for his wife’s actions, saying that she has partial insanity.

The rescue of Udeh at Alawaye community, Saraki in Adigbe area of Abeokuta came on the heels of the earlier rescue of a nine-year-old boy who was similarly chained by his father, a pastor of a white garment church in Ogun State

Sunday Sun reliably gathered that little Promise was chained by her aunt, identified as Chiamaka Okafor, 32, who accused her of stealing N4,000.

Promise is a primary one pupil from Ebonyi State, where her parents also reside. Her aunt was said to have brought her to Ogun State four years ago.

It was learnt that Promise often stole from her guardians and had always been on the run, in a bid to escape punishment every time she allegedly committed the theft.

Although the prime suspect, Chiamaka, a mother of four, is still at large, her husband, Sunday Okafor, was arrested about 6pm on Wednesday by the police and is being held in custody at Ibara Police Division, Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.

When Okafor spoke with Sunday Sun, he lamented his wife’s neurological condition which, he claimed was responsible for her recent dastardly act.

His words:

“My wife has mental illness and I have been taking her to different church programmes to seek deliverance for her. I have been trying to hide this from people but the truth is that my wife has partial madness and, I have been taking her to different crusades since we got married in 2006. As for Promise, she keeps stealing from us. Times without count, I have been to the police in Adigbe to report her to them but they keep advising me to manage the situation. I can tell you that she has run away from the house up to seven times. Even her teacher in school complains of same thing and punishes her for it. She attends Saint Benedict Primary School, here in Adigbe.”

Okafor, a businessman who sells men’s wear and hails from Ebonyi State, added:

“To start with, I never knew she was chained. My wife did. All along, we have been calling on her people in the village to come and pick her, but they kept telling us to hold on till a later date.

When I came in the first day and saw that she was chained, I set her loose, but did not know my wife was going to chain her again the next day. I was surprised when I got to the police station and was shown the picture of how Promise was chained.

I just want everybody to know that I didn’t chain Promise. It was my wife. I am not the type that intimidates children.

My biological children and even siblings can testify to that. I think she did it based on the thought that the girl may run away again, although I was never in support of that.”

Neighbours speak

When Sunday Sun reporter visited the home of the Okafor in Alawaye, an agrarian community on the outskirts of Abeokuta, it was learnt that worried neighbours alerted the police to the inhuman treatment of Promise.

Speaking on this, 24-year-old Omotoyosi Odu, a student of Tai Solarin University said:

“My fiancé lives in that house and I came to visit him on Tuesday, I was in his apartment when I heard the cry of the girl. Another woman from the neighbourhood came out too and we both agreed that I should give the girl some food to eat. I did, and when the woman (Chiamaka) came back, she came to me and issued a stern warning to me never to repeat what I had done. I didn’t mind her.

The next day, she still chained the girl in the arms and legs. At that moment, the girl saw me and said ‘Aunty, please give me food to eat’. But I was reluctant to heed her request, because the woman (Chiamaka) had warned me to steer clear of the girl. Not too long after, I saw two men approaching our building and immediately, I sensed that they were policemen and that was how they arrested everyone they could lay their hands on and took us to Adigbe Police Station.”

Another neighbour, Taofeek Adebayo, said:

“I learnt that the girl has always been mischievous. She steals from the house and the next thing she does is to run away from home. The last time she ran away, she was found at Ita Osin. I think the family had to tie her so that she won’t run away again.”

A kinsman of the suspect, who spoke to us on condition of anonymity gave a rather cultural insight into the incident. He said:

“My dear journalist, let me tell you something.

You see, in Igboland, it is a stigma to the entire family to have a mad person in the family. That may make the family member to be ostracised from the community and this is the pain that this man (Okafor) has been dealing with.

He has since been living with the problem of treating his wife who has partial madness and with that, I think he needs to be pitied and given some consideration.”

Promise at the orphanage

At the Stella Obasanjo Orphanage in Ibara, where Promise is presently being looked after, the matron of the home, who simply identified herself as Funke declined speaking with Sunday Sun, saying a directive would have to come from the Ministry of Women Affairs, which is the ministry that supervises the orphanage.

All efforts to reach the permanent secretary of the ministry were unsuccessful as he did not respond to calls put to him.

At the Zone 2 Police Command in Ibara, Abeokuta, Acting Police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, while confirming that Chiamaka was still at large added that her husband was in police custody and investigation into the incident was ongoing.

He said:

“Our men at Adigbe received information that a 10-year old girl was tied hands and legs to a burglary proof in an uncompleted building. Upon mobilising our men, the girl told us that her aunt did that to her on the allegation of stealing N4,000. We consider this as an act of wickedness because in the first instance, the girl is a minor. The girl wouldn’t have taken up stealing if not that she was being starved because it is starvation that makes little children take to stealing. Some parents would say they are going to discipline their children by starving them, not knowing that such would only push them to stealing. The woman has been on the run but, her husband was arrested and has been helping us in our investigations. The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliasu, is not happy at all with the whole situation. Barely a week ago, a boy was rescued from chains under the guise of wanting to cast out an evil spirit from him. The CP has issued a stern warning to residents that such acts of wickedness won’t be tolerated. It is barbaric and unacceptable. Now, the CP has ordered a manhunt for the woman so that others in her shoes will learn a lesson. As soon as we conclude our investigation, they (suspects) would be charged to court,” Oyeyemi said.

Couple Forced To Get Married In A Hospital After Groom Had Accident 2 Days Before Wedding Day. (Photos)

Steph-Murphy-James-Goss

New bride, Steph Murphy’s £36,000 dream wedding took a nightmarish twist, just two days before the ceremony.

With a Croatian palace booked for the nuptials, Steph and hubby-to-be James Goss had been planning their wedding for 18 months. Everything was in place, but disaster struck on a pre-wedding cruise when James slipped and snapped his leg at an extreme angle.
He was confined to hospital for five days.

Steph-Murphy-James-Goss1

There was no way the wedding could go ahead, but while James still blames himself for what he feels was letting his bride down, Steph wiped away the tears and told doctors she wanted the ceremony to go ahead – in hospital.

Doctors agreed and removed pews from the hospital’s tiny chapel so that James’s bed could be wheeled inside.

The groom – who only a year ago had beaten serious illness – even went without painkillers so that he would not be too groggy.
And the couple’s wedding night was spent on a hospital ward. Steph, 30, says:

Steph-Murphy-James-Goss2

“The staff pushed my bed next to James so we could be together. “But then they woke us up at 5am to take blood from him, so that kind of ruined the moment!

“Getting married in the hospital was making the best of what seemed like a disastrous situation. “But it made me realise what mattered was not the venue or the cost – it was just us being together and showing how much we cared for each other. In fact, our wedding day was just perfect, because we stripped away all the glamour and the trimmings and it was all about our love.”

Road Ends For Fake Pastor Who Used False Prophecy To Lure, Rob Victims

A Man who claimed to have been in pastoral ministry for 10 years and was on the run for sometime now is cooling his heels in the custody of the Imo State Police Command, Owerri.

Until his arrest, 45-year-old Delight Arinze Okorie, told Sunday Sun reporter in Owerri that he was the pastor-in-charge of Watered Ground Ministry.

He said: “I have been in pastoral ministry for over 10 years. When some of my members or the friends they bring, come to tell me about their problems, I always give them fake prophecies. If I discover that they have money, I use the opportunity to rob them by setting them up with the fake prophecies.”

As Sunday Sun further learnt in an interview with the Commissioner of Police, Imo State, Mr. Taiwo Lakanu, this was the strategy Okorie deployed in deceiving, robbing and attempting to murder one member of the church, 35-year-old Mrs. Chioma Oleka at Atta in Ihennasa, Njaba Local Government Area, Imo State, by falsely claiming that she was possessed with a mermaid (marine) spirit.

Lakanu explained that on May 25, 2016, Okorie lured Oleka to Nwangele river, where she was to ostensibly undergo special deliverance prayer. The lady drove her Lexus SUV with a Rivers State registration number, KPR 243HF to keep the appointment for prayers and deliverance.

Hear Okorie say what followed thereafter:

“As we were praying on the bridge, I went to the back of the vehicle and picked up a machete. I gave her several cuts all over her body with the intention to kill her. Then I pushed her from the top of the bridge into the river for her to drown. Some members of my gang, who pretend to be members of my church, who went with me then escaped with the SUV, when we sighted a police patrol team.”

Unfortunately for Okorie and the gang, Oleka miraculously survived the vicious attack and fall into the river as she did not drown. Rather she pretended to have died.

Recalling her fortuitous survival of the horrendous experience she passed through, Oleka told Sunday Sun:

“Before this thing happened I had been attending Watered Ground Ministry, the church headed by Pastor Okorie. He always prophesied in the church and one day he said that I had a mermaid (marine or mammywater) spirit.

He said I had to go for special deliverance prayer not knowing that he wanted to rob and murder me. During the prayer session, he suddenly pushed me from the top of the bridge into the river.

He gave me machete cuts thinking that I would die. But a police patrol team rescued me, took me to the hospital. I think I have learnt my lesson, that there are many false pastors all over the place; we need God’s intervention.”

After their successful escape from the crime scene, Okorie and his gang members continued their operations for several months thinking that the chapter had been closed on what they did to Oleka.

However, providence was patiently waiting to expose them. That day arrived when Oleka began to recover from the attack while still in the hospital.

When she was strong enough to talk with police detectives investigating the case, she recounted what happened and gave the police the registration number of the car.

For a while, the police kept Okorie under surveillance and then moved in to arrest him. During interrogation, he sang like a canary and revealed his alleged past escapades in crime, robbery, kidnapping and murder.

With information obtained from Okorie and the other members of his gang, the police recovered the Lexus SUV as well as the arms and ammunition of the gang.

Smart Criminal: How a Lagos Woman Fooled Bank by Using ‘Fake Shop’ as Collateral For Loan and Disappeared

File photo: customers inside a bank

A woman appeared to have simply disappeared into thin air after she cleverly defrauded a microfinance bank, located at the Ojo Alaba area of Lagos State.

The woman was said to have fooled one of the bank’s workers into giving her a loan by using a stranger’s restaurant as collateral for the loan.

The worker of AB Microfinance Bank was hooked winked by the woman into believing that the restaurant, located at No. 91 Adaloko Road, Arikawe Bus Stop, Afro Media, Ojo, Lagos State, was actually hers. Accepting the woman’s words of honour, the bank gave her the loan.

The scam was discovered after the bank worker realised that the woman had not been servicing her loan. The bank padlocked the restaurant, expecting the woman to appear, instead, the genuine, angry owner, Mr. Boniface Uwanyemugwu, appeared. Uwanyemugwu travelled to his village, in Imo State, when the unknown woman used his restaurant as collateral.

He returned from village, to discover that AB Microfinance Bank had padlocked his restaurant. It is believed that the woman knew that Uwanyemugwu travelled to his village and decided to use his restaurant to dupe the bank.

The bank’s worker, who handled the loan transaction, has been identified as Mr. Adeniyi Adeoye. Uwanyemugwu said that Adeoye and his enforcement team have disrupted his business and daily income, since they locked up his restaurant.

Uwanyemugwu said he returned from his village to find Adeoye’s business card, placed conspicuously at the entrance of his restaurant. The card reads: ‘Adeniyi Adeoye, AB Microfinance bank, 22, Ojo Igbede Road, Alaba, Lagos.

Uwanyemugwu said:

“I returned from my village to find my restaurant locked up. I thought it was the handiwork of local government officials. I looked at the complimentary card and discovered it belonged to one Mr. Adeniyi Adeoye, of AB Microfinance Bank. I had never had any dealing with them.

“I called Adeoye’s phone number, to know what the matter was. He said the owner of that shop used it to obtain a loan from AB Microfinance Bank. He then hung up. I called him again; he said if I wanted to know more, I should come. At first, I wanted to break the padlock, but I decided to involve the police.”

Uwanyemugwu went to Okokomaiko Police Station ,to lodge a complaint. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), in Charge of Okokomaiko Police Station, sent some police officers to the bank, with a letter of invitation.

Uwanyemugwu said: “They followed me to my restaurant and saw that it was truly locked. We went to the bank. Mr. Adeoye accepted he was the one that placed his business card there.

“He told us that a woman, who owns the shop, used it to obtain loan from the bank. Police gave him a letter of invitation. He was supposed to go to the station the following day.

But he didn’t honour the invitation. I went back to the police and told the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO), that I wanted to see the DPO. The DPO again asked his men to take me to the bank. At the bank, we met the manager. The manager said he was not aware of the locking up of my restaurant. The manager brought out the file that had to do with the loan. They saw that it wasn’t me that collected the loan.”

According to Uwanyemugwu, the manager begged that the case should be settled amicably, but the Investigating Police Officer (IPO), said the matter wouldn’t be settled at the bank. The IPO asked all parties to meet at the police station.

The bank again, allegedly refused to keep the appointment. When the bank was called again, the IPO was told that Adeoye had gone for a course. The bank advised that everything should be put on hold, pending the return of Adeoye.

Meanwhile, Uwanyemugwu’s restaurant, continued to be unlocked. Uwanyemugwu, who said the bank’s statement angered him, added:

“I have lost about N1.2 million over 30 days that my restaurant had been locked, and time is still running. I make an average of N30,000 daily from the business. I have family and other dependents. They look up to me for financial assistance. How can I bear the burden of an unknown debtor?”

Frustrated, Uwanyemugwu said he was forced to petition the Area E Police Command, Festac, begging the Area Commander, to carry out proper investigation into the matter. Uwanyemugwu said that he felt the bank was not respecting the DPO and IPO of Okokomaiko Police Station.

Uwanyemugwu said:

“The Area E Commander has directed that Adeoye be arrested. I will follow the matter to its logical conclusion. I know all I have spent, would be paid back. Whosoever had done this, is not a ghost! The bankers failed to carry out proper verification exercise. The bank allowed itself to be deceived.

“The bank should look for the debtor to refund its loan. I will sue for the loss I have incurred in the course of this investigation.” When Adeoye was contacted via phone, another employee of the bank, who refused to identify himself, answered on two occasions.

He said Adeoye was not available. He also noted that the complainant had reported the matter to the police station, while AB Microfinance Bank’s manager, has begun internal investigations. However, he told a correspondent to visit the bank.

During the correspondent’s visit to the bank, the front desk employee, who refused to disclose her name, denied him access to the bank manager. She however admitted that, the bank was aware of the case.

“I’m Going To Act Forever” – Veteran Actress, Bimbo Akintola

Bimbo-Akintola

Bimbo Akintola, who starred in “93 Days”, an adaptation of a true life story has revealed that she plans to act for a very long time.

Akintola, who played the role of late Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh, alongside Hollywood veteran actor, Danny Glover, said she felt to be casted in the inspirational movie.

“I feel honoured to have been given the opportunity to play such a great woman. Everyone I met had something good to say about Adadevoh, and that helped me to have a good understanding of the character.”

“While shooting some scenes at First Consultant Hospital Obalende, I had cause to pick up something from my car.”

“As I made my way back to where we were shooting, some of the staff who saw me wept. They said I reminded them of her.”

“This was because the make-up and costume were so apt. It was challenging having to play her because I had to depend on narratives by people who had personal relationships with her.”

“I wished I could see her and study her mannerisms. Since I had no videos to learn from, I played her strong points; the fact that she was a principled person. I also portrayed her stern yet motherly nature.”

For the actress, it is all about making an impact with her movie roles after spending twenty years in the film industry.

“I’m going to act forever because honestly, I can’t imagine not acting. I mean, what will I do aside from acting? I want to be remembered as one who affected lives.”

“I have been in the industry for two decades and the next phase is to continue to affect lives through my roles.”

Religion is said to be beliefs people have in God or deities. In the world, Nigerian churches are force to reckon on religious matters.

Churches in Nigeria and their founders have, through deliverance services, evangelism, sermons, out reaches and crusades, brought liberations and solutions to many across the world. This some have adjudged to have aided the Nigerian economy.

Newsmath examines some churches in Nigeria and their founders.

These are list of some churches and their Founders. It also contains the year of establishment, founder and the current general Overseer.

Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) is the first Aladura Pentecostal church present in Nigeria and other countries. It has come into existence in the first half of the 20th century, in the then-British empire.

It was formally established in 1941 after a split from the Apostolic Church which the original Aladura organization (Faith Tabernacle) had invited to Nigeria. Its growth was led by Joseph Ayo Babalola, a road construction driver who became its founder.

“Why I Won’t Seek Vengeance Against Killers Of Abuja Preacher” – Pastor E.A Adeboye

adebb

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has revealed why he will not seek vengeance against killers of Abuja preacher, Deaconess Eunice Olawale Elisha.

Forty-two-year old Mrs Elisha was hacked to death by hoodlums on June 9 at Gbazango-West area of Kubwa, a satellite town in the Federal Capital Territory while preaching early in the morning.

She was an assistant pastor at the RCCG, Divine Touch parish, Old NEPA road, Phase 4, Kubwa, before she was slashed in the neck and stabbed in the stomach by suspected religious fanatics.

Adeboye, fondly called Daddy G.O by his admirers, said contrary to calls by eminent Nigerians that he should seek vengeance against killers of the evangelist, he would not do so.

He said such move would be counterproductive just as it would be contrary to what the deceased wanted and stood for when she was martyred.

According to the revered man of God, if Dcns Elisha was actually preaching to win souls for Jesus Christ, it would be unscriptural and anti-Christ to seek to kill the same souls she sought to save.

Adeboye made the declaration on the occasion of the second day of the ongoing Ministers Conference at the Redemption Camp, Kilometer 46, Lagos – Ibadan Expressway on Friday morning ahead the 64 annual convention starting August 1.

“I’m not looking for vengeance. I won’t listen to people asking me to seek vengeance.

“I won’t pursue the case. That’ll be contrary to what she wanted.

“She wanted them saved, not killed.

“What will their killing do for me?,” the 74-year-old cleric queried.

Teaching on the topic, “Importance of Mercy,” Adeboye said since every Christian did not know when they would die, the time to truly seek God was now.

Making an example out of the slain Mrs Elisha whom he said was not aware she won’t return home alive on that fateful day, the Ifewara-born cleric warned that the end of the age was imminent, hence the prevalence of vices all over the world.

He said the murdered evangelist finished well and was, no doubt, sitting at the right hand of her Saviour for whom she paid the supreme price.

“Recently, some hoodlums went to murder my daughter in Abuja.

“She was doing her morning cry that morning as she usually did, armed with a megaphone and her Bible.

“An Imam was said to have sent some hoodlums to drive her away, but they did something else.

“She didn’t know she won’t return home that day.

“She finished well. She finished strong

“What a beautiful way to go. She’s gone to be with the Lord,” he stated glowingly.

The man of God said that his joy was predicated on the fact that another soul was waiting for him in Heaven.

“My joy is that she finished well and I have additional soul waiting to welcome me in Heaven when it is my time,” Adeboye noted.

It will be recalled that husband of the slain evangelist, Pastor Elisha had, earlier, expressed misgivings in killing whoever was caught in connection with the murder, saying he would rather they gave their lives to Jesus Christ.

Describing his wife as a martyr, he said: “I see her as a martyr, and she died for Christ. And whether the people are caught or not, they should forgive them; my prayer is that if they can accept Christ, that will be a gain to Christ.”

The slain lady evangelist, who left behind his husband, aged father, mother and seven children, was buried last Saturday in Abuja.

“I regret marrying many wives” – Actor, Jide Kosoko

jide

The veteran actor made the revelation in a recent interview with Nigerian Tribune. When asked if he regrets being a polygamist, he said:

“Let me say this today for the first time, I never planned to be a polygamist. I found myself in that situation and I had to adjust to the system.

I don’t pray that my enemy should practice polygamy. And, this should be a lesson to the young ones coming. I know some people will say their religion permits it, but the religion did not enforce it. I have serious business to do now. I have young children to take care of.”

Actor Who Was Burnt on Set While Filming Fire Scene Finally Reveals it was a Publicity Stunt

13731290_1799173506996633_1766902472_n

On Wednesday, July 27, an email was disseminated to various media houses, claiming that Iyoho was in the hospital after a fire stunt went wrong on set of the upcoming movie “Behind the Wheels.”

A video of Iyoho on fire was also shared by Ohikhuare on his official Facebook page. Hours later, the video was deleted.

Photos of Ani Iyoho on a hospital bed also surfaced online.

stunt (1)

Well, the whole fracas was a publicity stunt…which apparently we reported.

Ani himself took to his instagram page to confess it was a publicity stunt. Below is what he wrote:

To my friends

For most of you who have ever commented or sent a chat to me you know I do all I can to respond to them all. So it hurt me deeply to keep you in silence and in the dark during this period. I couldn’t avoid it. The calls were maddening. My phone had to be turned off till the matter was resolved in public where it started.

It worried the production that anything I might say as an individual may be misinterpreted further worsening the situation.

I’m truly sorry beyond words for the emotional stress and inconvenience this might have caused you. It wasn’t a publicity stunt for me as some might still want to have you believe. It was a huge misunderstanding, misrepresentation and misinterpretation of events of that day and it took a toll on me in ways I can not explain.

I am however extremely humbled at the love, care and support I got from you during this period. Words fail me. I am indebted to you. Thanks for being there for me and my family. God bless you and yours. Amen
I am well. It was a movie fire scene that went well.

Ani Iyoho

In his note on instagram, he claims it isn’t a publicity stunt…But what do we call this? Cos the actor is alive and well.

He also shared videos of himself a few minute ago to prove he is alive and well…not burnt!
