According to a post on Anambra State Online Facebook wall, the gentleman seen in the photo above is a citizen of Anambra state and he roasts corn in Dubai as a delicacy and sells them to passersby.
In an exclusive chat with Anambra State Online Media, Mr. Obinna opened up on how he started the business and the benefits.
He says:
“My name is Obinna. When i arrived Dubai and couldn’t get a job, i decided to think out of the box on what to do to make a living and one day, while in a local restaurant, a man came and placed an order..
“When the waiter came with the order, it was Chicken With Mashed Potato and Grilled Corn but the corn was not roasted the native Nigerian way as we do with coals.
“That was when the idea came and i decided to give it a try. I contacted a local farmer who supplied raw corn for me and started roasting them close to my neighborhood across the street.
“At first, people who passed by looked at me with curiosity as they had never seen anything of its kind up until one man approached me and i gave him one corn cob to taste. he liked it and the following day, invited 4 of his friends who bought and even took some home.”
According to Obinna, that day marked the beginning of his turnaround in the business.
The business according to him is the first of it’s kind in Dubai and in no time became a popular delicacy in the neighborhood with people especially Nigerians living there who want to have a taste of home patronise him on a daily basis.
When asked how much he makes as profit, Obinna smiled and said,
“The profits are not bad. I sell each corn cob for about 5 to 8 Dirham depending on the size and on a very good day, i take about 60 to 80 Dirham (22$USD)(N8,000) home.”, he said.

A 40-year-old man, Olarewaju Osasonna has told an Ikole- Ekiti Customary Court, Ekiti State, that he could no longer cope with the foul smell from his wife, Kafayat, due to her dirty ways of living.
“My wife is very dirty to the extent of packing used baby napkins with faeces for days in the house without washing them and this made everywhere in the house to smell.
“Again, she doesn’t know how to cook food; always cooking tasteless meals and will never take to correction on her dirty habit.
“Above all, she does not care for the well-being of our two children as a responsible mother should be doing,” Osasonna said.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the petitioner further informed the court that his estranged wife was in the habit of cursing him and his family members whenever they had misunderstandings.
He, therefore, prayed the court to dissolve the seven-year-old marriage for alleged dirtiness and inability to prepare decent meals.
He also urged the court to award him custody of the first child and promised to pay N3,000 monthly upkeep for the second child. Kafayat declined to cross-examine her husband and said she would state her own side of the story when she testifies.
President of the court, Mrs Yemisi Ojo, adjourned the case till October 11 for the testimony of the wife.

It’s certainly a normal routine among a majority of Nigerians, that after the Sunday service, we get back home and consume our stereotyped bowl of Sunday rice and stew or Jollof rice, or Fried, whichever one and moments after, we down with that “Sunday nap”… You can’t deny it! You know it’s true!
I won’t deny it too cause it just happened to me today and I decided to educate myself about it and my findings reveal it’s not something to worry that deeply about after all… but still, it’s something to be reviewed.
An article I came across from HealthLine, says in general, a little bit of sleepiness after eating is completely normal and nothing to worry about. There are several factors that contribute to this post-meal phenomenon, and there are a few things you might be able to do to minimize those drowsy effects.
Your Digestion Cycle
Your body needs energy to function, to breathe and simply exist. We get this energy from our food, which is broken down into fuel, or glucose, by our digestive system, and then macronutrients provide calories, or energy, to our bodies. More than just changing food into energy, our digestive cycle triggers all kinds of responses within our body.
Hormones such as cholecystokinin (CCK), glucagon, and amylin are released to increase satiety, blood sugar rises, and insulin is produced to allow this sugar to go from the blood and into the cells, where it is used for energy. Interestingly, there are also hormones that can increase in the brain, such as serotonin, that can lead to drowsiness. Melatonin, the other hormone that induces sleep, is not released due to eating, but food does influence melatonin production

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Independence, admitted that there is no easy solution to myriads of problems bedeviling the nation.
In a nationwide broadcast to commemorate the country’s 56th Independence Day anniversary, the President, however, assured Nigerians that his administration was pursuing the solutions available to it with a view to re-positioning the country.
Buhari said it was normal for countries to face ups and downs, while attributing the economic recession in the country to a shortage of foreign exchange and violence by the Niger Delta militants.
According to him, the problems are temporary.
He said, “The recession has been brought about by a critical shortage of foreign exchange. Oil price dropped from an average of $100 per barrel over the last decade to an average of $40 per barrel this year and last.
“Worse still, the damage perpetrated by Niger Delta thugs on pipelines reduced Nigeria’s production to below one million barrels per day against the normal 2.2 million barrels per day. Consequently, the naira is at its weakest, but the situation will stabilise.
“But this is only temporary. Historically, about half of our dollar export earnings went to importation of petroleum products and food. Nothing was saved for a rainy day during the periods of prosperity. We are now reaping the whirlwinds of corruption, recklessness and impunity.
“There are no easy solutions, but there are solutions nonetheless. The government is pursuing them in earnest. We are to repair our four refineries so that Nigeria can produce most of our petrol requirements locally, pending the coming on stream of new refineries. That way, we will save $10bn yearly.”

The Republic of China has newly attained quite an achievement – suspended railways – the first test run of the rails was completed yesterday without a hitch.
Zhai Wanming, chief designer of the project, told People’s Daily China, that the new train is more cost-effective and environmentally friendly compared to electric and diesel rail systems.
Each coach on the upside-down monorail will be able to carry up to 120 passengers. Further tests will be conducted to monitor the train’s ability to turn and climb up the tracks before it can be opened to the public.
The battery charging stations will also be examined.
Chengdu, which also operates an underground Metro system, is the first city in China to officially unveil a suspension railway but the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai will also be opening one next year.

Augustina Higuera may just be 29 but she is very proud to be a mother of 14 girls! And if that wasn’t staggering enough, she beat odds of 500,000 to one to give birth to a third set of twins two months ago.
But the supermum is less thrilled that against all odds, all of her children are girls – and she has vowed to keep going until she has given husband Jose, 30, a son.
She said:
“We both really, really want a boy. We’d be over the moon, so we will keep trying.
“We’re besotted with the girls but Jose is outnumbered and it would be nice to even things out. I’m lucky that I enjoy being pregnant. I’ve never had any major problems, so it’s not a big stress for me.
“I’ve had so many girls I’m not sure what I’d do with a son. I just know I’d be blessed to have one. He and Jose would have an incredible bond. I hope I can give him that.
“I have no upper limit on how many children I’d have. I’d have another 10 if it meant having a boy.”
When Augustina gave birth to her second set of twins, Hailee and Braelee, less than two years ago, doctors joked she was more likely to win the lottery than have another multiple pregnancy. But she conceived youngest children Bella and Isabella weeks later.
Shortly after their birth, she did 42 loads of washing in 24 hours. She makes eight different meals a day and takes her kids to school in a minibus. And despite surviving on two hours of sleep a night, Augustina wouldn’t change a thing.
She said:
“It’s chaos looking after 14 girls but we wouldn’t have it any other way. I’ve always wanted to be a mum. When I was younger, I spent a lot of time looking after my younger brother and sister. Although twins run in my family, I never expected I’d have three sets. I know we’re blessed.”
Augustina, from Paris, Texas, got pregnant the first time she had sex, with teenage boyfriend Antonio.
She said:
“I was shocked and terrified. I was so young and I didn’t know what to do. But I’m a Christian, so abortion was never an option. And we were very lucky as both sets of parents supported us.”
First daughter Belicia was soon followed by Nyelli, 13, Liliana, 12, and Vanessa, 11. Augustina said:
“My older girls were not planned.
“Every time I got pregnant, I was shocked. I tried all types of contraception but something always went wrong. But when the girls were born, I was always over the moon.”
Augustina and Antonio married when he was 17 and she was 15, as Texan law permits those over 14 to wed with parental consent.
But their relationship broke down shortly after Vanessa’s birth and when she was four months old, Augustina met Jose at a party. Daniela, now nine, came along when they’d been together just over a year and Cilla, seven, followed.
Then, six years ago, she found out she was expecting yet again – and was shocked to see a second foetus at her first scan.
She said:
“I looked at the screen and thought one must be a cyst before it sunk in. I almost passed out with shock and excitement.
“I was scared but happy. When I showed Jose the photo it took him a few seconds to realise there were two babies. He burst into tears of happiness.”
Augustina felt sure at least one of the babies would be a boy. She said:
“The doctors told me it was more common to have a boy and a girl than same-sex twins. I let myself get excited.
“We found out the sex at one of my scans and it was two girls – I guess I should have known. We don’t let ourselves get upset as we feel so lucky to have healthy babies. But it doesn’t mean that we don’t want a boy.”
After Luzelena and Marielena, six, arrived, Analilia, four, and Aravelia, two, followed. And just three months after Aravelia’s birth, Augustina had another positive test. This time, she wasn’t shocked to learn it was twins.
She said:
“I just had a feeling. I went to hospital with stomach pains and they suspected a kidney infection but couldn’t do anything until they scanned the baby. The doctor was staring at the screen looking puzzled. Eventually, he said both babies were fine. I was right.”
The girls were just weeks old when Augustina began to suspect she was pregnant yet again. And her doctor suggested she was further on in the pregnancy than she had thought.
But Augustina said:
“I knew I’d got my dates right and then it sunk in. I was having more twins. The doctor said there’d be more chance of a lottery win. But a scan found there were two.
“I was still stunned as the odds on having three sets are so high. I did wonder if one might finally be a boy.”
But it was not to be and two months ago, Bella and Isabella arrived.
With 14 daughters, Augustina and Jose do not rely on welfare to support their family as he earns £6,000 a month running a landscape gardening firm.
Augustina said:
“Jose works seven days a week to support us. For now, I’ve had a contraceptive coil fitted but I think we’ll start trying for another baby when the youngest are four.”
A downpour of insults and curses rained heavily on Nigerian gay activist, Bisi Alimi’s Instagram page after he shared this photo of a Nigerian pastor that claimed an evil cat came to attack his church members after they concluded an intense night vigil.
The gay activist had argued how Nigerians could have possibly believed the pastor who he called an idiot and said should be arrested for animal cruelty, stating that his blood is boiling and yet, more Nigerian idiots are shouting Amen and sharing the stupid, silly post.
This of course, caused a stir amongst his followers who came for him, questioning how dare he insult a man of God… Read below:
A woman who has maggots dropping continuously from her private parts thrilled residents of Olakula area of Idiroko in Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State on Wednesday.
The scene turned chaotic as residents trooped out to see the woman, identified as Iya Toheeb, who sat in a car with the assistance of family members and sympathisers, The Nation reports.
It was thought that she might have been a victim of money-making ritual after her condition allegedly defied orthodox medication.
The woman was also brought to one of the men she was associated with, a carpenter in the community. Of the reason for bringing the afflicted woman to the man, a source at the scene who asked not to be named, said:
“The woman was brought to the carpenter who was her former husband. Her family members believed that the man may be responsible for her worsening condition that defied treatment in hospital where she was admitted for months.
Doctors were said to have advised her relatives to seek alternative medicine to her ill-health because it had gone beyond the purview of orthodox medicine.”
Another source, who did not want her name in print, told The Nation:
“The woman had dated different men in the past and it is believed that she may have been used for money-making ritual going by what we heard from those who know her.
“She has no wound in her private part yet maggots keep dropping from her sexual organ and that sends a signal that there is more to her problem than meets the eye, particularly since doctors have asked her relatives to seek help from native doctors for solution to her problem.”
It was learnt that the carpenter, whose real name could not be ascertained at press time, made remarks that suggested the woman was being punished for her promiscuity, after which the woman’s family members decided to bring her to him for possible solution to her predicament. The carpenter reportedly fled before the arrival of TheNation’s correspondent.
At the scene, sympathisers helped spread a sack on the car seat on which the woman sat when the maggots continued to drop even as a stench emanating from her body fouled the air.
“This is what my beauty has done to me o,” said the woman shortly before being taken away by her family members.
