One of the four landlords kidnapped by gunmen in the Isheri North area of Lagos State has ‘escaped’ from his captors, Punch reports. It was learnt that the victim, who arrived at home on Tuesday, however, refused to discuss his ordeal with anyone. The kidnappers had demanded N1.2 billion for the 4 men.
It had earlier been reported that the masked gunmen emerged from the waterways while the victims were jogging around 8am on Saturday. The assailants were said to have shot into the air before taking away the four men in a speedboat.
A source said that one of the men escaped on Tuesday.
He said,
“He escaped from their midst because no ransom was paid.
“He is scared and has kept to himself. The police have maintained visible presence in the community, but it is not certain they know where the kidnappers are.”
Another member of the community said some money was paid, adding that the victim arrived at the estate around 5am in a boat.
He said: “A large amount of money was paid by his family for his release; he didn’t escape. He was released at about 5am.”

A 28-year-old pregnant lady disrupted a wedding ceremony at the Sepaase Grace Baptist Church upon hearing that her partner with whom she has one child was getting married to a member of his congregation.
Akua Afriyie stormed the church premises with a bottle of Schnapp when the would-be couple was being introduced ahead of Sunday’s ceremony to the surprise of many congregants.
She invoked curses on Kofi Boateng and his bride-to-be, the pastor who was to bless the planned marriage as well as relatives and church members who would attend the wedding.
Unapologetic Madam Afriyie tells Nhyira FM’s Obra show she has lived with Boateng for over five years and is seven months pregnant with him.
Mr Boateng is the Youth President of the church who was living with Madam Afriyie at the mission house until the church de-fellowshipped him for six months for fornication following his relationship with Madam Afriyie.
The church sanction forced the two to live in separate residences for about two years although they were still seeing each other.
Madam Afriyie said she recently heard Mr Boateng is about to marry another lady.
According to her, she went back to Mr Boateng two months after she had delivered their baby, now two-years-old.
She said after they had unprotected sex on the day of the visit, she insisted on spending some days, a proposal Mr Boateng turned down for fear of the church finding out he was still fornicating.
A quarrel ensued between the two lovebirds then and she confirmed that there have been a series of quarrels since as they disagree over every issue.
Kofi Boateng who confirmed that he is getting married on Sunday added he couldn’t marry Madam Afriyie because of her tendency to invoke curses at the least opportunity.

Police Command in Katsina yesterday said it has arrested a 60-year-old househelp of Hajiya Turai Yar’adua, the wife of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua over missing goods worth N91 million.
Alhaji Usman Abdullahi, the police Commissioner in the state, disclosed this to newsmen on Tuesday in Katsina.
“The Police has arrested Alhaji Yusuf Sarkin-gida after a formal complain by Hajiya Turai Yar’adua to the Police two weeks ago.
The suspect is the custodians of all the keys and property of Hajiya Turai Yar’adua for the past forty years.
There are 37 boxes in the custody of the suspect, but only 27 boxes are in the store. The several items in the 27 boxes are completely missing and the suspect has failed to give full explanation on the goods and items in the boxes,” he said.
The Commissioner said the suspect had been serving the Late Umar Yar’adua family for the past 40 years even before her husband became the governor and later the President of Nigeria.
Abdullahi said the suspect was in Police custody, where he was assisting them to conduct intensive investigation on the missing items.
When contacted, the spokes person of Sarkin-gida’s family, Alhaji Mohammed Yusuf, said their father was innocent of the charge labelled against him.
He said the arrest and detention of their father before the Eld-el-Kabir celebration had thrown the family into confusion. He appealed to Human Rights Organisations to come to the rescue of their father.

According to Azerbaijan media outlets, Victor Emenayo, a Nigerian striker recently signed by top division side Shahdagh Qusar FK is actually 17 years older than the age on his international passport which says he is 23.
His International Passport says the forward was born in 1993 but search on the internet about the striker who played in Uganda for most of his career shows that he should’ve been at least 28 years old before his move to Shahdagh Qusar.
The former SC Villa of Uganda striker looks older than his own team’s coach, Adil Mahmudov according to Azerbaijan media, Emenayo himself or his club haven’t responded to the allegations.
He has already become the butt of the jokes by social media users in Azerbaijan. The media also joined in to claim that the Nigerian is well over 40 years of age.
This case is similar to that of Joseph Minala at Lazio who was recently cleared by the Italian FA. This was after his age issue was traced down to a disease.
The 20-year old Minala was said to be 42 years old because of how he looked. He was however actually 17 years old then.

THE Anambra state governor, Willie Obiano, on Monday, September 19, said if the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is given a chance, a bag of rice will cost only N9000.
Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state has said that the cost of living for Nigerians would be drastically reduced if APGA is given a chance, come 2019.
Obiano hinted that APGA has prepared its house, and would field a presidential candidate in the 2019 general election.
The governor, who is also the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the party, said if voted into power, an APGA national government would drastically reduce the cost of a living in Nigeria.
The Punch Newspapers reports that, Obiano stated this in Awka, the Anambra state capital, during the inauguration of ‘Governor Willie Obiano Support Group’, Awka South Chapter.
Represented by his special adviser on Political Matters, Mr. Chinedu Obidigwe, Obiano said APGA would want to prove to Nigerians that the party had the solution to the country’s woes.

While this is in every way nauseating, I find it quite hilarious too!! Can you imagine?! This lady, Rosemary Thomas and her daughter, ordered fried chicken from a restaurant, but what they found inside was repulsive.

Cancer patient, Shukurat Mayowa Ahmed, 31, who lost her battle with the dreaded ailment on Sunday, August 21, 2016, in a private hospital in South Africa was said to have been buried in the country, according to Islamic injunction.
An impeccable source disclosed to ENCOMIUM Weekly that the need to bury the remains of Mayowa in South Africa where she finally gave up the ghost was not in any way connected with the inability of her family and those handling her pathetic situation to bring her corpse back to Nigeria as being bandied but largely due to the fact that she was a muslim and there was no need delaying her burial anymore.
“Shukurat Mayowa Ahmed died in South Africa and has since been buried according to muslim rites. Not that there was no money to fly her corpse back to Nigeria. Appearing on The Wendy Williams Show on Tuesday, the outspoken host didn’t waste any time before grilling the star on exactly who he was rapping about.

A two-year-old boy, Eniola Ajakaye, has drowned inside a drum of water while holidaying with his grandmother in Aboru, in the Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos State.
Punch Metro learnt that the police arrested the victim’s father, Sunday Ajakaye, a mechanic, and Sunday’s 65-year-old mother, after the boy’s mother, Mary, accused them of complicity in the death. They were reportedly detained at the Oke Odo Police Division for alleged murder.
A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Eniola drowned around 2pm on Foursquare Street, Ago 40 Estate, where his grandma lived.
He said, “The woman had gone out for a church programme, leaving him with some other children who had come to holiday with her.
“She was called on the telephone that the boy was missing. People searched for him for hours without any success.
“When it was evening, a woman said she saw something inside a water drum in the house. “When they checked the drum, they found Eniola there.”
The boy was reportedly taken to a private hospital in the area where he was confirmed dead.
Another resident, Jide Thompson, said the family took the dead child back to the house and invited some pastors to bring him back to life, adding that all the effort was in vain.
It was learnt that Mary’s family did not believe the account of the grandmother as they insisted that there was more to the death than meet the eye, adding that the Ajakaye family had a case to answer.
The police subsequently arrested the grandma, Sunday and another relative who reportedly raised the alarm when the boy went missing.
Investigation by Punch correspondent showed that there had been bad blood between the two families since Mary became pregnant with Eniola.
Punch correspondent learnt from a source that Sunday had rejected Eniola’s pregnancy.
He said, “The man is a mechanic and can barely fend for himself. When Mary, his lover, became pregnant, he rejected the pregnancy.
“When Eniola was born, Sunday’s mother took the responsibility for his upkeep and was always sending money to Mary’s family.” The source explained that the grandma later took custody of the child after a major disagreement, adding that Mary returned some weeks later to take back the child.
“However, Mary called the woman one day, saying she was returning Eniola to the grandma.
“The girl took the child to the woman’s church and dropped him there. The grandma picked the child from the church and handed over to the police station,” he added. The police allegedly called the two families and gave custody of the child to the father.
It was learnt that the grandma handed over the child to her first child, who became his guardian.
Punch Metro was told that the guardian had brought him back to the grandma, along with some other children of the family, for holiday when tragedy struck.
A relative told Punch correspondent that the grandma was devastated when the boy was found in the drum.
“She invited pastors to pray for the child, but nothing happened. When it was getting late, around 10pm, we reported the matter to the police and after making statements, the corpse was deposited in a morgue,” he added.
He explained that after much persuasion Mary’s mother dropped the case against the family. He, however, expressed surprise that the police were taking up the matter again.
A police source said the police had closed the case file when Mary’s mother demanded that the matter be revived.
The source said, “The primary issue is that the two families are at loggerheads. After asking that the case be withdrawn, Mary’s mother said her family went to take the boy’s clothes and was told that they had been burnt and there was nothing left of the boy’s property. She said the man’s family knew about the death for being in haste to forget the victim.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, said the boy’s corpse was in the mortuary pending the release of the autopsy report.
She said, “It is a case of sudden and unnatural death.
