Winner of the 2016 edition of the Cross River Most Beautiful Girl Pageant, Victoria Ana, has been suspended – a letter from the organizers dated September 12, 2016 and signed by former beauty queen Isabella Ayuk revealed that the beauty queen is been suspended for her lackadaisical attitude and for behaving in a manner not suitable for her position which has painted the title Cross River Most Beautiful Girl in negative limelight.
The letter alleged that Ana, among others, keeps;
“Late nights with inexcusable excuses without due recourse to her office”, her attitude
has painted the office in negative limelight and utter disregard for invitations extended to the office to public functions which has painted the pageant “In negative limelight.”
The organizers directed her to return the crown and sash to the office of the organizers and desist from parading herself as the winner of the pageant or risk being charged with impersonation among other crimes.
During his visit to the country about a fortnight ago, the Facebook CEO was introduced to some of “Nollywood acts“, where they had fun taking snaps and discussing issues.

An eighteen year old from Southern Carinthia region of Australia is claiming that since 2009 her parents have made her life a misery by constantly posting photos of her, including embarrassing and intimate images from her childhood.
Her lawyer Michael Rami states that to date, her parents have posted 500 images of her on the social media site without her consent, and he believes she has a good chance of winning in court.
The shared images include baby pictures of her having her nappy changed and later potty training pictures.
“They knew no shame and no limit and didn’t care whether it was a picture of me sitting on the toilet or lying naked in my cot – every stage was photographed and then made public,” the 18-year-old said.
The photos were shared on Facebook with her parents’ 700 friends.
Despite her requests, they have refused to delete the photos, prompting her to sue them.
I’m tired of not being taken seriously by my parents”, she said.
Her father believes that since he took the photos he has the right to publish the images. Her lawyer says that if it can be proven that the images have violated her rights to a personal life, then her parents may lose the case.
This is the first case of its kind in Austria, but he says that based on similar cases abroad, the girl’s parents may have to pay some financial compensation for her pain and suffering, and will also be liable for her legal costs.
The case will be heard in November and if the parents lose this could have repercussions for Austrians who post countless images of their children on social media without their consent.

A 25 year old man in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, has drowned his kid brother in a stream after tying a stone to his waist and throwing him inside a river.
Ogobuchi Ogbonna who allegedly committed the act against his three-year-old relation Wisdom, was subsequently remanded in prison custody for causing the boy’s death.
The incident occurred at Ndievor-Nchoko, Igbeagu community in Izzi Local Government Area which is within Abakaliki magisterial district. The act is punishable under the Criminal Code, cap 33: Vol 1; laws of Ebonyi 2009.
Ogbonna who was arraigned at a Magistrates’ court in Abakaliki, on a one-count charge of unlawfully causing the death of the boy on Sept. 9, had no counsel to represent him in the matter.
He however, pleaded not guilty to the charge. The Magistrate, Mr Nnachi Olughu, ordered that the he (Ogbonna) be remanded in prison custody till Nov. 18.
The magistrate also ordered that the case file be transferred to the Director of Public Prosecution for necessary action as the court lacked the jurisdiction to handle the matter.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle, & we no die oh! We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps & then ride down the street. We would leave home in the morning & play all day, as long as we were back when the street lights came on.
No one was able to reach us all day! No Cell Phones…Unthinkable! We had real friends! We went outside & found them. NTA comes by 4pm sometimes 6pm with that rainbow colour lines.We fell off mango trees, got cut and broke bones & teeth, those days! nobody send u.
There were accidents. No one was to blame but us. We had fights & punched each other & got black & blue, still learned to get over it. We made up games with sticks & tennis balls & ate insects(grasshopper,scricket etc joor). Some students weren’t as smart as others,so they failed & were held back to repeat the same class!
Our actions were our own. Consequences were expected. The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke a law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law. Imagine that! If we got in trouble in school, & got punished..guess what? We got punished again when we got home… even worse!
This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers & problem solvers & inventors, ever.Honestly, the past 30 yrs have been an explosion of innovation & new ideas.We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with them all. A Nigerian landlord has been discovered dead in a female tenant’s room in Accra, Ghana after the two had allegedly had sex. StarrFM reports that 24 year old Cynthia Nubuor is being held by the Adenta Police command over the matter.
In a statement to the Police, Ms. Nubuor said she left the deceased, Achi Ogu, who is a Nigerian, in her room for work Thursday afternoon after he had forcibly had sex with her. She said she left a note asking him to lock her door if he wakes up from his sleep.
According to the Adenta Police, they received a distress call around 8:30pm and rushed to the scene only to recover the body of the deceased from the room where he died.
The body has since been deposited at the Police hospital mortuary for an autopsy to be conducted into the actual cause of death.
The four companies charged alongside a former Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs to ex-President Jonathan, Waripamo Dudafa, and two others with money laundering have pleaded guilty to the offence.
The four companies pleaded guilty to conspiring with Dudafa and the two others to launder a sum of $15, 591,700 before a Federal High Court in Lagos on Thursday.
The companies are Pluto Property and Investment Company Limited; Seagate Property Development & Investment Co. Limited; Trans Ocean Property and Investment Company Limited and Development Company Limited and Avalon Global Property Development Company Limited.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had since frozen the $15.6m found in the four companies’ accounts in Skye Bank.
But wife of ex-President Jonathan, Patience, has sued the EFCC and Skye Bank, laying claims to the money.
The Lagos state police command has arrested the five armed robbers who attacked Super Eagles Player Onazi Ogenyi’s family house in Jos. According to him, they were nabbed at Epe, Lagos State. The footballer shared the news on Twitter.
President Muhammadu Buhari Tuesday in Daura called on Nigerian youths to make the country great again through pursuit of knowledge, patriotism and commitment to values that promote national unity.
Receiving over 100 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in Daura local government area, in his residence, President Buhari pledged his unalloyed commitment to the unity and prosperity of Nigeria.
He urged them to remain focused in life, pursue their dreams and reject those fanning embers of discord and disintegration of Nigeria.
The President, who specially recognised corps members from the Niger Delta and South-Eastern states serving in Daura, praised the vision of former President Yakubu Gowon in setting up the scheme in 1973.
The President said the scheme had creditably promoted national unity and cohesion by exposing young people to the uniqueness and cultural diversity of Nigeria.
“I asked for those from the other extreme of Nigeria because I very much appreciate the NYSC scheme and whenever I see General Gowon, I always thank him for that”, he declared.
Speaking specifically to corps members from the South Eastern states,
the President said: “Tell your colleagues who want Biafra to forget about it.’’
“As a military commander, I walked from Degem, a border town between the north and the east, to the border between Cameroons and Nigeria.
“I walked on my foot for most of the 30 months that we fought the Nigeria-Biafra civil war, in which at least 2 million Nigerians were killed.
“We were made by our leaders to go and fight Biafra not because of money or oil, because oil was not critical factor then, but because of one Nigeria.
“So if leaderships at various levels failed, it was not the fault of the rest of Nigerians who have no quarrel with one another.
“So please tell your colleagues that we must be together to build this country. It is big enough for us and potentially big enough in terms of resources.
”Those who work hard will earn a respectable living. I have seen this country, I fought for this country and I will continue to work for the unity of this country,’’ the President said.
In his remarks, Mr Egbewumi Adebolu, the Corps Liaison Officer in Daura, thanked the President for the honour of receiving them and making their stay in Daura memorable.
He said the youths strongly believed in the programme of the President to reduce unemployment and create jobs for more Nigerians.
Adebolu thanked the President for his personal gifts of cows, bags of rice and cash to corps members in the community for Salah celebration.
The Defense Headquarters yesterday described as a joke and dream of the century, a threat made on the life of President Muhammadu Buhari in a new video released yesterday by Boko Haram militants.
Defence spokesman, Brigadier General Rabe Abubakar, told Daily Trust yesterday in a reaction: “The threat to President Muhammadu Buhari is a complete joke and dream of the century.”
He described the video as the actions of washouts, noting that the public had been appreciative of the achievements of the military in decimating Boko Haram.
“The only ground Boko Haram can go into, hide and pretend to be alive, is the social media, because it is everybody’s home where sources can hardly be traced. More-so, which Boko Haram, I believe the group is near ending, the video is a complete sign of weakness and poses no threat to us,” he said, adding that the video was an attempt by remnants of the group to remind the public that there were once Boko Haram elements.
Abubakar said the military was committed to wiping out remnants of the group and people shouldn’t be deceived by their use of photo shop.
In the new video released yesterday and posted on YouTube, the Boko Haram members were shown observing Eid prayers in some unidentified locations.
A man who spoke in Hausa in the video said the group had not been defeated and threatened to continue their campaign.
They added:
“[President] Buhari is saying that he will finish us. Let him know that before he said so, others said so before now and they couldn’t. So Buhari saying that he will finish us, he should know that by the grace of Allah, he cannot finish us. Rather, he will die, he will die, he will die. By the will of Allah, under the leadership of our leader (Shekau), we will capture Buhari with our hands.”

So a scene of social media P.D.A turned cold after a lady took to her Twitter account to gush about her boyfriend of 2 years, only for a troll to come out and reveal that her boyfriend is gay!
The middle-aged man in the photo above, goes by the name, Charles Ibeleme and was nabbed yesterday by the residents of Odi Olowo in the Mushin area of Lagos State while he was allegedly taking away a child he had just kidnapped.
According to Punch, while begging the mob not to lynch him, Ibeleme said he was forced into kidnapping because of the harsh economic condition in the country.
An eyewitness, who gave his name only as Sunmibare, said Ibeleme pleaded with the mob not to lynch him, as he was only finding a means of survival. He said:
“We caught him in the afternoon. He was taking a child away from our area. People beat
him up and tore his clothes. The man was afraid that he would be lynched and pleaded that his life should be spared. He said he was looking for money.
“He explained that the harsh economy forced him into the act. This got people angry and they would have killed him, but for the arrival of the policemen.”
Ibeleme was thereafter handed over to policemen from the Olosan division.
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, on Wednesday in Abuja said Nigerian businessmen demanded 2.5 billion dollars (about N492 billion) a week for importation of goods and services into the country.
Ogbeh made this known in a meeting with officials of VICAMPRO, an indigenous Agro Company investing in production of Irish Potato on Wednesday in Abuja.
He said that the ministry was willing to support local investors with capacity to produce goods and save the country’s foreign exchange.
He said that the consumption of rice in the country was rising and that a lot of people were not aware that the rice had some degree of arsenic.
The minister said that consuming rice in large quantity on a regular basis was a bit of health risk, adding that substituting it with potato would be welcomed development. “The volume of importation of virtually everything into this country is too much.
“The demand for dollars in this country as at today is 2.5 billion a week; this is the quantum of dollars Nigerians are asking for to import things.
“Since 1986, we began this habit of importing everything and doing virtually nothing at home to sustain ourselves; now, we do not have the dollars and people are very hungry.
“This day was coming anyway, no matter who was in power; we have the most ridiculous method of devaluing our currency; every week, we auction the dollar and naira goes up.
“We sat and were hoping that by devaluation, we are going to arrive at Eldorado; if we continue like this, it will be a thousand naira to a dollar,’’ he said.
Yesterday, a Facebook user, Author Blessed Inegbedion shared a photo of Mercy Johnson’s husband, Prince Okojie clearing the hospital bills of a man who has been in the hospital for 3 months.
According to him, the patient had been in the hospital for three months before Prince came around to offset the bill which is about N325, 000 (three hundred and twenty five thousand).

Jessica Beer, a 19-year-old female student of Dyege Memorial College, Akpehe, Makurdi, Benue State, on Wednesday committed suicide after her boyfriend, identified simply as Labi, impregnated another girl and subsequently dumped her.
A close friend of the victim, who did not want her name mentioned, told Punch correspondent that Beer killed herself because she loved Labi and could not accept that she had been jilted.
The friend further said her late friend believed that after impregnating another girl, her future plans with Labi was in jeopardy.
The source said when she went to Beer’s residence, she met the victim on the floor, vomiting blood.
She said, “My friend had brought a sharp knife the day before the incident to my house. She said I should follow her to her boyfriend’s house, threatening to deal with him. But I advised her not to take the law into her own hands.
“When I went to see her the next day, I met Jessica (Beer) on the floor, vomiting blood and I quickly raised the alarm.”
Punch Metro gathered that the victim was rushed to a private hospital, Yiman Hospital, in the area, where doctors certified her dead.
When Punch correspondent visited the victim’s school, many of her classmates were seen crying, while some teachers in the school discussed the incident.
One of the victim’s classmates told Punch correspondent in tears that she was shocked that Beer would “intentionally kill herself because of a man.”
Another classmate said, “I was told that the boyfriend (Labi) is a cultist and an armed robber, who had refused to further his education. Why should my friend commit suicide over such a person? I can never do such a thing.”
The proprietress of the school, Mrs. Mercy Dyege, told our correspondent that she was surprised when the news of the suicide was broken to her.
According to Dyege, the news of Jessica suicide filtered into the school while the students were on the assembly ground.
She described the action of the student as barbaric and ungodly, saying she always advised students to focus on their studies and devote their time to God rather than engaging in carnal issues.
Dyege said, ‘’My teachers always pray with the students and teach them the words of God, especially the female students. I also told the girls that when they put their minds on their studies and complete their education, men will look for them. This kind of incident has never occurred in my school and I condemn this behaviour in strong terms.”
One of Beer’s teachers, Mr. Timothy Tyoyange, described her as an average student, who was ready to learn from both teachers and her fellow students.
Tyoyange said, “Jessica (Beer) was a beautiful young lady and in our last prize giving and graduation day, she contested for Miss Dyege, organised by the college, and won the crown. So, she killed herself at a time she was about to fulfill her dream in life. May her soul rest in peace’’.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident.
“Investigation has commenced. I advise other students to desist from such acts,” he added.
