The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN has threatened to direct Christian pupils to wear choir robes and other church garments to public schools in Osun State should the state government implements the court judgment on hijab.
Justice Jide Oyelola had last Friday ruled that Muslim female pupils in all public schools should be allowed to wear hijab to schools without any harassment or molestation.
But CAN, in a communique issued at the end of its meeting and signed by its Osun State Chairman, Revd. Elisha Ogundiya, said the association would ask Christian pupils to wear garments associated with church activities to schools if Governor Rauf Aregbesola decided to implement the court verdict.
The CAN also said it suspected that Aregbesola ‘masterminded’ the judgement as part of his efforts to Islamise the state but the Christian body vowed not to allow this to happen.
The CAN, which rejected the judgment, stated that the judge made an ancillary order which was not based on any submission or prayer canvassed before the court when he ruled that hijab the pupils should be using must be the colour and design already approved by the state government.
The communique read,
“Where the Osun State Government is inclined to implementing the judgment, Christian students in all public schools founded by Christians with the toil and sweat of our forefathers in the faith will have no choice but to start wearing Christian garments and vestments as part of their school uniform for the propagation of our own faith given the Justice Saka Oyejide Falola declared right of Muslim female students to do same as what is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander as well. Adherents of other faith who have their choice to make in this matter can wear theirs as well.”
However, one of the Muslim leaders in the state, who is also the lead counsel for the Muslim Community in Osun State, Mr. Kazeem Odedeji, when contacted asked Christians not to bring emotion to the issue.
Odedeji said the Muslims did not take the laws to their own hands when their children were denied the rights to wear hijab. He said they approached the court and waited for three and a half years before the court ruled in their favour.
Calls placed across to the telephone line of the media aide to the governor, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, were not answered and the response to the text sent to his telephone and email inquiry was still being awaited as of the time of filing this report.

This is the incredible encounter between animal behaviorist Linda Koebner and a chimp she rescued 25 years ago. Koebner, who founded the non-profit chimpanzee sanctuary Chimp Haven in Louisiana, spent four years teaching the chimps how to be wild in southern Florida after they were released from the hepatitis research lab where they lived .
She then returned to the enclosure and was greeted with open arms by the chimps, which was captured on camera and featured on the PBS documentary The Wisdom of the Wild. ‘Do you remember me?’ she asked.
Koebner, a graduate at the time, helped ease the chimps into living outside and how to fend for themselves.
But she hadn’t been back in two decades, so decided to visit the few who remained, The Dodo reported.
‘It’s been so long,’ she says in the documentary. ‘Oh, you look great.’
In the footage, Koebner takes a boat over a small body of water to where the chimps live. As she nears the other side, a chimp comes to greet her.
‘Do you remember me?’ she asks.
A chimp named Swing reaches out a hand to Koebner from the dock, and cracks a huge smile. Then suddenly another chimp, named Doll, runs over excitedly.Koebner is overcome with tears as the two chimps lovingly embrace her.
They were terrified to get out of the security of their transport cage,’ Koebner says in the documentary. ‘Whether it was afraid to step on the grass, they hadn’t been on anything but hard bars for years, or just the feel of the wind and the sun. ‘They just huddled in the doorways and wouldn’t come out.’
Chimpanzees share 98.8 percent of human DNA and have been used as test subjects for drugs and vaccines. This experimentation only stopped in the US last year, when chimpanzees were listed as an endangered species.
Koebner founded Chimp Haven in 1995 as a refuge for ‘lab chimps’ who were no longer needed for testing.

Former soccer star and Nigeria’s most successful coach, Late Stephen Okechukwu Keshi, died on Tuesday in Benin City, Edo State capital, at around 11.45 p.m. of yet an unknown case. He was 54.
The late former Super Eagles chief coach’s brother in-law spoke yesterday of his last moments. Ricky Aburime spoke with The Nation that the late Keshi complained about his leg.
He said:
“You won’t believe it that Keshi passed on in just 15 minutes,” he said, adding: “I got a call saying that Keshi had complained about his leg which I think they helped to massage. Then he told those with him that he was feeling funny. He asked that he should be taken to the hospital.”
Fighting back tears as he spoke on the telephone from Benin City, Aburime, who was at the Faith Mediflex Centre, a hospital on Airport Road, where Keshi was pronounced dead, said he was woken up from his sleep and asked to rush down to Keshi’s house – a few minutes away.
“When I got the distress call, I told my wife that I needed to go and find out what the problem was. He was massaged, only for him to complain again. By this time he was gasping for breath. When the doctor arrived at the hospital, he confirmed Keshi dead like the nurse said when she checked his pulse. The nurse said he had no pulse. It was about 11. 57pm. In fact, from the way the doctors spoke, there was nothing that they could do,” Aburime, adding:
“I got inside where he was being treated. I found Keshi lying down, dead. I was the one who put him in the morgue. We have informed the police to incident the matter, considering Keshi’s status.
‘ I’m here with the Edo State Football Association (EDFA) Chairman, Frank Ilaboya. We are waiting for the police pathologist, Wilson Akiru, to perform the autopsy. I don’t know what is happening to my family. Only in January, we laid my sister Kate, Keshi’s wife, to rest. Now this shocking death,” Aburime said before handing over the telephone to Ilaboya.
When The Nation asked Ilaboya if he had seen Keshi’s remains, he said:
“My brother, I’m standing before Keshi’s body. It is true that he is dead. In fact, I’m looking at a lifeless Keshi, lying on the tray, still looking handsome. It is as if he is sleeping. The difference is that he cannot communicate with us. Otherwise, I could have handed over the phone to him.”
“I’m still in shock. We will leave here for the stadium, where we will open two condolence registers at the boardroom and the Football office for sympathisers. We will open another register or two at Keshi’s residence,” Ilaboya said.
Keshi’s body was yesterday moved to the Stella Obasanjo Hospital morgue in Benin City. Aburime said the autopsy will not be done until the coach’s first daughter arrives from the United States. She insisted that she must be present at the autopsy.
The daughter is expected in Nigeria at the weekend. “We need to respect her decision,” Aburime said.
Two yet-to-be-identified people managing the Elegushi Beach in Lagos have been arrested for possible culpability in the deaths of two female post graduate students of the University of Lagos: Adesola Ogunmefun and Funmi Odusina, who drowned after they got swept into the ocean by a strong current.
Family and friends had blamed the tragic incident on the beach management’s failure to install wave alert systems which should have prevented the deaths. Now, Punch reports that two managers of the popular beach have been arrested.
According to Punch,
“The (students) had graduated from the Covenant University and were on the verge of bagging their Master’s Degrees in International Law and Diplomacy from UNILAG.
While Ogunmefun was brought out dead, Bolu and Odusina were said to have been rushed to some private hospitals in the area which rejected them.
Odusina died on the way to the Lagos Island General Hospital, while Bolu survived.
Families and friends of the deceased had blamed the deaths on the alleged failure of the beach management to provide necessary safety devices like life guards, a wave alarm system, an ambulance and a medical unit at the facility and condemned the indifference of the hospitals that rejected the victims.
Odusina’s elder sister, Bukola, had also lamented that the incident shattered her sister’s dreams to become a philanthropist, an ambassador and a mechanised farmer, calling on the government to ensure that the beach had adequate safety devices.”
Confirming the arrests, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, said the identities of the managers would be revealed after the command had ascertained their culpability.
“The command has arrested two managers of the beach and they are being interrogated,” she said, adding, “We don’t want to release their names now so as not to infringe on their human rights. As soon as we ascertain their culpability, their names will be made public.”
“We hope to arrest more persons and we will visit the scene of the crime to know what transpired” she concluded.

This is absolutely shocking! A woman has shared a touching and painful story how her husband has turned her into a slave by cumming in her ear even when she refuses. He will threaten and beat her up each time she dares to refuse.
As a result of this wicked act, the woman has now developed ear infection.
Read the shocking story by the woman below.
******************************
My case is a very strange one, and might sound very mysterious to some.
My husband was once a very nice man not until he lost his job, and to crown it all, we do not have kids cause of some complications I had during our time of dating – I had series of abortions.
I have been the one carrying the home for months now, which I am not complaining. But, my husband has become so strange, each time we make love and he wants to cum, he cums inside my ear. Yes, it’s strange and I am no longer finding it funny because my ear has been infected. But, if I refuse he will pick offence and beat me up.
I decided to report him to his family, and they called a meeting. That was where he told us that a prophet told him that my womb is inside my ear, the only way I can get pregnant is for him to cum inside my ear which is the supposed womb.
I was shocked to the bones that my husband could be brain-washed at his age and level of exposure. The family settled us but he still continued and wanted to still release inside my ear, I refused and threatened to divorce him, but he said if I can’t take it, I should pack and go.
Please, I need to know how to go about this, I have prayed and fasted and I am tired. I can’t hear with one ear because it’s infected and I am still treating it. Now my marriage is in shambles. Help me, please.
Nigerian International, Obafemi Martins has faced heavy criticism from some disgruntled followers on his Instagram for not honouring his former coach, Stephen Keshi who passed away this morning.
The striker who posted a selfie on his Instagram today with the caption ‘Back to Reality’ once said the late coach didn’t ‘like him’ as he was frozen out of the national team for a major part of the time the Big Boss was with the Super Eagles.
“I don’t think [Keshi] likes me, that’s all. I don’t have any issues with him,” Martins told media
“I respect him as a coach but I think Keshi doesn’t like me.”
As at press time Osaze Odemwingie who had a fall out with the Ex-Super Eagles coach had not paid tribute to the Nigerian football Legend but Ikechukwu Uche has.
See what some of his dissatisfied followers are saying:
Ordinarily, I mind my business, I always do. However, for Funke Akindele (Never met her personally) and people that I feel connected to, I just can’t sit still and watch things go awry.
I admire Funke’s courage, zeal and other strengths that has made her my superstar and role model. Like every mortal, naturally, she has her weaknesses. From my distance vantage view, it pains me that this toughie is weak and extremely so, when it comes to matters of the heart.
She is strong on her own and has achieved this much because she’s damn determined. Applause!!!
Funke! Funke!! Funke!!! How many times did I call you? Ehn? Three times abi? Thank you. I am not so experienced but I roll with people with mega terabytes of experience and I always hear them say beware of Baby Mama Collectors. Leopards don’t change their spots.
Their traits are straight and visible for all to see but very blur to their targets until they are hit devastatingly. These kinda folks are at best friends, so when they walk away, because they always do, you can get a replacement in no time. It is dangerous when the lady is programmed to desire fellas like that as husbands. Very dangerous.
Funke dearie, it is strange that having survived marrying a funny chap described as a low life thug, it’s disheartening that your next bus stop is a serial ‘jilter’. Ordinarily, I believe you should ask around about this your guy and be sure that you are really sure of what you are doing.
Hope you are aware of the heart aches of his baby mamas, his babes and his mamas. If he tells you he has changed be careful, if he says all his victims are terrible and he’s the good guy, beware or if he says my past is past, hmmmmm.
Tiwa Savage your friend’s recent drama with Tee Blitz should still be fresh in your memory. Annie Idibia’s continous face off with babymamas who still desire her throne is yet another neighborhood pointer to ponder on. Wake up babe!
You come to London often, ask around about the man you think is your man. His heart is splintered with many ladies having a piece. You have a piece too, I know but he will soon take from your portion for yet another babe. It’s not a prediction but reality.
You are a creative mind that needs zero emotional distraction. Whitney Houston’s dive down story will not be your portion.
God will not come down to knock your head on the wall before you know what to do. You have stayed long enough in the entertainment game to now become a JJC.
GOD WILL OPEN YOUR PHYSICAL AND SPIRITUAL EYES TO SEE BEYOND THE SURFACE AND SHOW YOU THE PATH THAT LEADS YOU ARIGHT.
RECEIVE DELIVERANCE FROM THE SPIRIT OF DESPERATION..
Rickey Aburime, a member of Stephen Keshi family, say they will carry out an autopsy on the remains of the former Super Eagles Coach who died today June 8th.
Speaking with The Nation, Rickey debunked media reports of Keshi dying from an heart attack. He stated that Keshi was meeting some friends and family members at his Benin City resident when he suddenly fell sick.
It took less than 15 minutes to rush him to the hospital after the crisis started but that he died just before he got to the hospital.
“All of a sudden, they that noticed his countenance changed and he was not okay. The person with him called Ebuka and they rushed him to the hospital. He was dead by the time they got to the hospital. A nurse that checked him said there was no pulse.
Doctors later confirmed him dead. After the confirmation, as he was not a patient of the hospital, they could not write any report or present any death certificate. They said we must bring the police report and the police came to inspect the body. I am about to take the corpse to Stella Obasanjo hospital pending the autopsy which the family want to do. Dr. Wilson Akhiwu will conduct the autopsy.
There is no official statement as to the cause of death. There will be no embalming. It was sudden and we don’t want anybody to speculate. There was no sign of ill health and Keshi has not complained of anything recently.”
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, arraigned the duo of James Ogwuche Alex and Oklewu Ene Gina before Justice B.O Quadri of the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The two suspects were arraigned on a 2-count charge of conspiracy and obtaining by false pretence to the tune of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira only (N250, 000).
The petitioner, Professor Ndubuisi Eye, alleged that the suspects who are both students of Benue State Polytechnic hoodwinked him through an e-mail from a purported old friend by name Engineer Bartholomew requesting him to pay Two hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N250, 000) to an ccount number which he did.
Nigerians woke up to the super-shocking news of Stephen Keshi’s death earlier today and the one thing that is clear to all is that the man will never be forgotten.
The death of the former Super Eagles captain and coach Stephen Keshi came as a huge shock and has thrown the football world into a state of mourning.
54-year-old Stephen Keshi passed away in the wee hours of today June 8, 2016, according to his relatives and close associates.
One of his close friends revealed that “He was not ill at all, never showed any signs of illness, but we suspect he never got over the death of his wife.”
Although Nigerians have continued to react to the loss, below are five things the ‘Big Boss’ will be remembered for.
1. Leading Nigeria to win AFCON 2013
Stephen Keshi led the Super Eagles to win the 2013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa. Nigerian appeared at the 29th edition of the tournament as minnows.
The team began the competition on a rather poor note with 1 – 1 draws against Burkina Faso and Zambia respectively, in their opening two games at the tournament. Nigeria defeated Ethiopia 2 – 0 in their final group game to proceed to the quarter final stage against the star-studded Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire.
An Emmanuel Emenike freekick with a Sunday Mba strike gave the Keshi-led team a 2 – 1 win over the Ivorians. Nigeria defeated Mali in the semis and overcame Burkina Faso in the final to win the tournament for a third time. This feat confirmed Keshi as the second person to win the AFCON tournament as a player and coash, having also won it in 1994 as a player.
