Following the increase in the price of petrol from N86.50 to N145 per litre, oil workers in the country have called on the federal government to increase the new minimum wage from N18,000 to N90,000.
While commending the Federal Government for removing subsidy on petrol, they said that they would push for a new minimum wage demand of N90,000.
In joint statement issued by he National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association, they said …
“With the new pump price of N145 per litre, government must speed up the negotiation process for a new minimum wage of N90, 000 to cushion the effect of the envisaged inflation. As the price of fuel increases, there should also be an increment in workers’ salary as the old minimum wage of N18, 000 has no effect again,’’ they stated.

According to a neighbor, Yesterday being May 12th, the woman punished and beat her young maid so badly, her face was swollen and her eyes totally shut. Emmanuel Ojukwu, the Enugu State Commissioner of Police, on Thursday, paraded two women, who allegedly stage-managed their mother’s kidnap.
Daily Post reports that they were arrested alongside the boyfriend to one of them.
According to Ojukwu “the suspects were arrested on a different date in connection with the purported kidnapping of one Mrs. Hannah Achime.
“One Monday Egbe, aged 30 years, was arrested and he confessed how the two of the victim’s daughters, Onyinyechi Achime and Akunna Achime invited him to the business to enable them collect money from their elder brother, one Mr. Eric Achime based in Lagos.
“Ransom of N2.5 million naira was demanded, while N500,000.00 was agreed to be paid, though nothing was paid. Suspects all confessed to the crime.”
While being interviewed by journalists, the two ladies claimed to have executed the crime as a last measure towards raising money for their mother’s medical treatment.
One of the suspects, a graduate of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, who was to go for the National Youths Service Corps, by end of this month said “we have been begging our brother to bring money for our mother’s eye treatment but he refused.
“The eye problem became so much and we had no option; we decided to do that in order to raise money. We took her to a hotel at the Camp and paid for a room there.
“I brought my friend and he helped us in arranging the kidnap. He was the one calling our brother, but he refused to bring money; he said the kidnappers can eat her if they liked. We didn’t hurt her at all; it was all for our mum’s good, though we didn’t tell her.
“She got to know later, and she has been begging the police to drop the case. As we speak her medical condition is even getting worse.”

Senator Murray Bruce who is very active on twitter with his “Commonsense” series and tweets, gave social media users a chance to laugh off their pains for a moment as the news of the fuel subsidy removal made waves around Nigeria.
Someone had apparently asked the Senator to give some advice on how to survive the fuel subsidy removal and the man gave a hilarious answer to the inquirer.
He then shared the story with his followers on Twitter.

My name is Nonso and I live and work in Lagos. I have been married to Chika for six years now but I think the marriage is crumbling because of my wife’s refusal to have a baby.
She works as a marketer in a new generation bank and she does not see child bearing as her priority now because it would hamper her career progression. In the years we have been married, she has aborted two pregnancies.
The first one, she pleaded with me to allow her do away with it because she had just gotten the job and would not make her function very well.
The second time, she did not tell me about it but when I found out and told her I was not happy with it, she flared up and asked if what I made as a salary would be able to sustain the family.
Now she is two months pregnant and is insisting on another abortion because, according to her, she is due for a promotion and does not want anything to jeopardize her chances. I am adamant that she must keep the baby but she says she would rather divorce me.
Two weeks ago, the issue caused a big quarrel and my wife told me to my face whether I am even sure the baby is mine. That statement really shocked me and I know I can’t take it any longer.
