MTN, Africa’s leading mobile phone operator, has finally sealed the deal to acquire Visafone, the only surviving Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) operator in Nigeria, owned by the banking magnate, Mr. Jim Ovia.
The acquisition of Visafone, the only surviving CDMA operator in Nigeria, by MTN, a GSM operator, marks the final death of CDMA operations in Africa’s largest economy.
Though, MTN is yet to make official announcement of the acquisition, but inside sources confirmed the development to Daily Trust reporter.
Contrary to the initial report about the deal that MTN is not taking along the purchase of the CDMA company with its liabilities, sources said the telecoms giant has acquired the staggering Visafone with all its properties, including its spectrum and liabilities.
All is set for the hosting of the Glo-CAF awards holding this evening, Thursday, January 7 at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

Nigerian Music Star – Timaya today January 7th shared a throwback of himself at a talent hunt competition years ago on his instagram.

TMZ has released screenshot images of the texts exchange between rapper, Tyga, and 14-yr-old Molly O’Malia, and they clearly exonerate the rapper.

A teenage girl who allegedly confessed to the murders of her mum and mother’s boyfriend faces life in prison if convicted.
The remains of Rosie Sanchez, 38, and Anderson Nunez, 40, were discovered at their Brooklyn apartment around 8pm on Sunday.
Sanchez’s 15-year-old daughter Destiny Garcia has now been charged as an adult with two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
It is alleged that she confessed to a cousin that she killed them because her mum’s boyfriend repeatedly raped her, police said.
She allegedly later said it was her mother who was abusive, and that Nunez would not help her.
The cousin is believed to have called police, who found the decomposing bodies after conducting a welfare check, Pix11 reported.
Sanchez was found dead in a bedroom chair.Court documents show she suffered a gunshot wound to the ear and was stabbed in the chest.
The body of Nunez was discovered on the kitchen floor.He had been shot at least once in the arm and stabbed multiple times to the neck, torso and head, which caused his death, documents show.
According to the Daily News, Garcia allegedly confessed to killing the pair on December 27.
The girl reportedly went to stay with her father for a few days following the incident, before staying with her cousin.
She allegedly confessed after her cousin became concerned that she hadn’t heard from Sanchez for several days.
ABC7 reports that police are also searching for a 15-year-old boy, who they believe provided Garcia with a gun.

A 32-year-old man, Musa Ismail, was arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly raping his neigbour, and robbing her of her property worth N91,500.
It was learnt that Ismail lived on Kadiri Street, in the Agege area, while his gang members ─ Saheed Lawal, Wasiu Ajanaku, and Tayo Inawole ─ resided with the victim on Okunola Street.
It was gathered that the robbers gained access to Joy’s apartment around 2am on December 26 after breaking a window, and stole three phones valued at N43,500 and a cash sum of N48,000.
After the robbery, Ismail reportedly took out a knife and ordered Joy, said to be in her mid 20s, to lie down and then raped her before he fled the building with his gang.
Fortunately, Joy was able to identify Ismail during the robbery and reported the incident at the Dopemu Police Division, which lead to the suspects’ arrest.
Joy was directed to the Mirabel Centre, which attends to rape victims, where a medical test conducted on her confirmed that she was raped.
“The suspects are neighbours of the woman. They had an altercation after she warned them to stop smoking cannabis at the back of her apartment. It was in the night of that day that they burgled her room and one of them raped her,” the source added.
Meanwhile, the suspects were arraigned before an Ogba Magistrates’ Court on three counts bordering on burglary and stealing. Ismail, in addition to the counts, was charged with rape.
Families of Afro hip-hop singer, David Adeleke (aka Davido) and his Baby mama, Sophia Momodu, have finally signed a peace agreement.
They decided to resolve amicably, the child trafficking allegation levelled against the music star.
This came at a meeting held at the instance of the National Agency For the Prohibition of Trafficking In Person (NAPTIP) which was attended by Sophia, the musician’s father, Deji Adeleke, Mr. and Mrs. Dele Momodu, Adeleke’s lawyer, counsel to Dele Momodu, Gbolaga Ajayi, Mr. Ajayi Famakinwa, and NAPTIP’s representatives. At the meeting, it was decided that the issue be resolved amicably and that both families should stop the ongoing media war.
Consequently, both sides were made to sign an agreement to stop the media face-off.
NAPTIP’s representatives, who took Sophia and Dele Momodu and his wife’s statements, advised the Adelekes to allow the child’s mother have access to her child, currently in custody of Davido’s half-sister, Ashley Adeleke. Momodu’s lawyer, Gbolaga Ajayi, who confirmed that the meeting held, told Daily Sun that the issue of blackmail being alleged by Davido does not arise.
“What will Dele Momodu blackmail Davido for; money, position or what?” he queried.

It is disheartening that while many well-meaning Nigerians have stepped in to intervene in the face-off between music superstar Mr David Adeleke, aka Davido, and the mother of his baby Ms Sophia Momodu, my cousin, a senior citizen and film-maker, Dr Ola Balogun, has chosen to cast aspersions on me for reasons best known to both of us.
In a well-circulated comment he made in newspapers and on social media, Wednesday January 6, 2016, Dr Balogun maliciously attacked Sophia and I without caring to find out what led to the present debacle.
I had the highest regards for Dr Balogun and had always responded to his calls and text messages to my London line most times.
I wish to apologise to him publicly if I have not been able to attend to his certain demands but it is regrettable that he would retaliate through this vengeful manner.
Though I bear the same title of Bashorun with my late mentor Chief Moshood Abiola, I’m just an ordinary journalist of very modest means. Let me assure Dr Balogun that elders like him have brokered peace between the families and by the grace of God we should have good news sooner than later.
Dr Balogun should please bury whatever animosity he has against me and join others in reconciling the families instead of pouring petrol into the conflagration.

The veteran film maker, via a letter to the Nation, addressing Davido’s baby mama saga, expressed disappointment, and condemned in totality, the role played by Ovation magazine boss, Dele Momodu
He also charged Sophia Momodu to get a job to support her lifestyle, and not turn Davido into an Automated Teller Machine, ATM.
The letter reads in part:
“I was heartbroken to read about what young Mr. Adeleke has been going through at the hands of Mr. and Mrs. Dele Momodu and their neice (or cousin?).
“If Davido’s account is true, the activities of the Momodus deserve to be roundly condemned by all right-thinking Nigerians.
“Shouldn’t the baby’s interests be paramount? As for the mother of the baby, she should be thoroughly ashamed of herself for having inflicted so much pain and suffering on her child as a result of her alleged drug habits.
“If I understand rightly, the young lady is able-bodied. Why doesn’t she go and seek gainful employment somewhere, instead of partying all over the place and expecting the father of her child to pick up extravagant bills?
“Why must she consider Davido a personal ATM that is there to cough up money on demand at each instant? It is really too bad!”.
“In conclusion, one must congratulate Davido for the deep maturity, sense of responsibility, decency, forbearance and manliness he has displayed all through this terrible ordeal.”
“Unknown to him, he has proved himself to be more than old enough and mature enough to be equal to the task of being a father.”
“I hope and pray for Imade’s good health and future happiness and well-being,” the first generation film maker wrote.
The Lagos State Police Command arrested 28-year-old Okwuchukwu Ibekwe, who lived in Iyana Iba area of Lagos, for allegedly selling his five-month-old son to a child trafficker in Anambra State for N400,000.
He said he sold his son because he was having difficulties in his trade and allegedly decided with his wife to sell him.
According to PUNCH Metro the Ibekwes sold their son to one Chinelo, who stayed in Ihiala, Anambra State and is still on the run, on December 17, 2015.
It was learnt that Chinelo gave the infant’s Dad N250,000 while the mother of the baby’s mum was supposed to get N150,000.
However, when Mr. Ibekwe returned from Anambra state, he refused to give the wife her share, so she reported the matter to the police and fled the house after making the report.
Okwuchukwu was subsequently arrested and detained at the Police Gender Unit, Ikeja, while police operatives also arrested Chinelo’s husband in Anambra State. The baby and Chinelo are yet to be found.
While being paraded on Wednesday, Okwuchukwu said he collected N400,000 from Chinelo in exchange for his son with his wife’s consent.
He said:
“Chinelo was to give me N400,000 for the baby. My wife was the one who suggested that we dispose of the baby to meet our business needs.
“But Chinelo gave me N250,000 for the baby when I went to deliver him to her in Anambra State.
“When I returned, my wife and I quarrelled and she ran away for three days. I did not know that she went to report the matter to the police. She was concerned with her own share of N150,000.
“I sell vehicle spare parts in Ladipo market. “It was a lawyer who called me that my wife had reported me to the police, and that I should come and see her. When I went there, I was arrested.
“I do not know the whereabouts of my son. I did not know Chinelo would run away with my child.”
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, who paraded the suspect, said the case was undergoing intense investigation and efforts to recover the baby and arrest Chinelo.

A 25-year-old Kenyan man from the Kirinyaga County, Leonard Kimotho, caused a stir in his community when he chopped off his own penis on January 1, 2016, (New Year’s day), in protest for being turned down by the women he was trying to date, reports Tuko.co.ke.
Kimotho, who is said to find it difficult to get a woman for himself, decided to take that drastic step since he believed his manhood was useless to him and as such, should be blamed for his inability to get a woman.
So while others including his friends and family were celebrating the beginning of another year, Kimotho used a sharp knife to cut off his weapon.
His parents quickly summoned a local chief, Emmaculate Njoka, to assess the damage that their son had caused to himself and the distress he had brought them.
“A family from Kiorugari called and informed me their son had chopped off his manhood. They say after secretly performing the act on himself, he rushed out of the house while bleeding profusely.
They carried him and his severed manhood in a polythene bag to hospital. Upon reaching the facility, doctors advised the family to take the victim to Kerugoya Level 4 Hospital since his condition was severe.
The doctors at Kerugoya Level 4 Hospital have said they will try their best to reattach the manhood,” Njoka said.
It is reported that Kimotho, a bachelor, had hoped to be in a relationship but all his efforts to get a girlfriend could not bear fruit, hence his resolve that his manhood was useless if there was no woman who was interested in him.

Uncle to David’s Baby Mam – Sir Dele Momodu has replied Davido’s Recent Outburst where he released a well detailed medical report on his baby mama and daughter which proves Sophia infected their daughter with Cannabis.

The newspapers were awash this morning and the social media has been on fire since yesterday. My cousin SOPHIE MOMODU was comprehensively scandalised. Even a Laboratory result alleging she’s a cannabis smoker was splashed everywhere. She was said to have infected her own baby with cannabis.
The vicious authors expected some gullible people to believe them. Nothing could have been cruellest. Our initial reaction was to maintain the ceasefire but this latest attack against a defenceless lady who merely asked that she be allowed to enjoy the fruit of motherhood was the limit of recklessness and rascality.
All sensible human beings should abhor and condemn this unwarranted fabrication of endless lies just to justify the act of forcefully detaching a baby from her biological mother. Check this picture well. That’s baby Imade with her aunt Ashley Adeleke who took her to Dubai a few months ago against her mother’s consent.
The world has been told that the baby was so sick that she needed urgent medical attention in Dubai. Imade’s mother was deprived of attending personally to her own baby. Sophie was allowed to visit her daughter once a week every Sunday inside Dr Adeleke’s guest quarters. We did not fight. We did not engage in social media wars. They said our family was too poor and beneath their status.
We did not mind. They said Sophie was a gold-digger, we did not respond. We only kicked when Baby Imade was to be taken out again without the mum’s necessary consent. No one asked them to take Sophie along. We only tried to stop the impunity and dehumanisation of a poor mother. We acted within the ambit of the law. No more.
