One of Nigeria’s most popular female music artiste, Chidinma Ekile has revealed how she was embarrassed because of her slight built.
The diminutive songstress said in a tweet meet hash-tagged Kimani Off Air, the 2010 MTN Project Fame West Africa winner said:
“The most embarrassing situation my stature brought me was when someone ordered me to sit down during a meeting. I had to confront the person. Before I actually started doing music, a lot of people used to talk to me like I was younger than my actual age and it used to be really annoying.”
“I am one of those people who say they got pregnant by accident. I got pregnant at 19 just in my second year of university.
I didn’t expect to get pregnant because I took the necessary precautions. From the beginning I wasn’t sure in my mind whether I should keep the baby. The father had already denied me.
I didn’t have a father figure in my life so I didn’t know what to do. I thought of how I was going to tell my mom, I didn’t know how she would react, especially being that I am the first and only child. I didn’t even know where to start. I felt I had already let her down.
WORST FEAR
My worst fear became a reality; my mom became harsh with me. It was like a switch in her flipped. She even refused to be associated with me.
She didn’t want a kid who was in my kind of situation; forced to drop out of school in second year. She abused me, verbally and physically.
I had never seen this side of my mother. We only had each other and I thought that would never change. Yet there she was, the one person I thought would always be there for me, turning her back on me.
RAN AWAY
Everything was too much. I ran away. I had to escape because even my own mother wanted me to get rid of the baby. I had already made up my mind that I was going to have it.
With some money saved up, I decided to start a small business. I prepared chips and crisps and sold them. I rented a shack and used it as my house, paying Kshs. 1,500 rent every month. I had to survive. I couldn’t let my baby down.
Through a friend I found out my aunt had relocated to Nairobi. I was unsure on how she would react to me being pregnant. She was very close to my mom. I took the risk and went to see her; I had nothing to lose and everything to gain.
My aunt decided to secretly help me because she knew I didn’t want my mother getting involved. She used to visit me in my shack, every day until I gave birth.
SAVING GRACE
Giving me advice and checking on how baby and I were doing. She was the saving grace that I badly needed. I had no one. She gave me the love and care that my own mother denied me.
When I finally gave birth, I couldn’t imagine that I wanted to get rid of someone so innocent. I imagined how I would have felt if I got an abortion. It made me hate myself for a while. I had to find a way to love myself again. It helped that no one in the area knew my story. They just saw me as a stranger with a baby.
Then I met a man. He always wondered how such a young girl was so stressed. I told him my story, he told me his. I kept on asking myself why anyone would be interested in someone like me. As time went by, we became friends. I didn’t have friends. I had been rejected by everyone and was raising a baby on my own.
NAIJA MAN
He was nice to me and wanted to take care of me. He sort of felt sorry for me. He gave us-my baby and I- an apartment to live in.
He also sent me money. Enough money to ensure the baby got everything she needed. I was even able to finish my education.
He took me to Nigeria and gave me money to start my own salon business. When he asked me to marry him, how could I refuse?
He took me and my baby in as his own. He took us from nothing and gave us everything. I knew for once, God remembered that I exist.”

Popular Kenyan socialite Vera Sidika recently got into a brawl with fellow Kenyan celeb Stacey Pendo.
Standard Digital is reporting that the fight occurred at a restaurant in Nairobi where Vera and her team had gone to eat.
Apparently, Stacey stormed the scene and started a verbal fight with Vera, and it soon degenerated into fisticuffs as Stacey allegedly emptied the contents of a glass cup on Vera before the duo exchanged blows.
Vera’s personal security guard broke up the fight and allegedly sustained injuries in the process. In her statement to the police, Vera said she confronted Stacey after the lady cussed her out.
“When I asked her why she was bad-mouthing me, Stacey picked a glass and splashed its contents in my face,” Vera told the CID officers at Kilimani Police Station.
Standard Digital reports that the police are set to arrest Stacey Pendo.
Though the reason for the fight is yet to be made public by the duo, Standard Digital’s sources reports that it allegedly is linked to a Nigerian artiste the duo allegedly dated.
In 2014, rumours made the rounds that Stacey was having an affair with Davido, and in an interview, she said it was all true.
In 2015, Davido was briefly linked to Vera, but the duo never publicly admitted to having an affair.
Is Davido the reason for this fight? We may never know.
Residents of Port Harcourt have been advised to stop drinking garri soaked in cold water for now, because rats that carry the highly contagious Lassa fever virus also like exposed dry garri.
Dr. Furo Green, the Chairman of Rivers State branch of Nigerian Medical Association, NBA, gave this medical advice, while speaking on the Lassa Fever scourge in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Capital.He said
“Because you are not sure which garri has been infected by rats, its advisable to stay away. When you want to sip garri, you only pour cold water, add sugar and milk as the case may be.
“When you do that you only succeed in gulping a life virus that can cause Lassa fever. The virus is empowered easily to attack you. Rather, garri should be consumed in the traditional way prepare it well boiled hot water or pour the garri in a pot of boiling hot water and steer it.”
Dr. Green also advised members of the public to store food in closed containers to keep rats at bay.
“When you buy foodstuffs like garri, you should pour it into a container that is covered to avoid the garri from being contaminated infected rats”.
Since the outbreak of Lassa fever disease, three people have died in Rivers state, claiming the life of a medical doctor with the state-owned Braithwaite Memorial Specialised Hospital (BMHS), Livy Ijamala, on Wednesday January 13 night.
The medical doctor was said to have contracted the fever from a pregnant woman that conducted an emergency Cesarean Section unknown to him that she was infected.
The death of Ijamala brought to three, the number of persons who have died from the disease in the state, as a nursing mother and her two-week-old baby died earlier from the virus.

According to reports, the Oluwa Lambe Lodge star is currently in a critical condition with top medical experts battling to save his life.
It was further reported that his younger sister whose name was simply given as Shade confirmed the tale and urges fans and friends to pray for the aged actor.
The Maami actor is said to be in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital battling for his life as cardiac experts rally round to save him.

A 65 year old woman identified as Adejoke Adefuye was burnt to death in her home at number 19, Oshinfolarin street in the Bariga area of Lagos, during a fight that broke out between two cult groups in Bariga yesterday January 23rd.
According to a statement by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the incident was a reprisal attack from one of the cult groups after a fight that began on Friday
No one knows why the building where the aged woman lived in was burnt down:
“Information revealed that the cultist had been terrorizing the area since yesterday before attacking the affected building this morning, trapped the occupants inside and set the building on Fire. A 65-year-old woman was burnt beyond recognition in one of the rooms. She was the only mortality recorded and has been taken to morgue by SEHMU. Other occupants of the building sustained minor injuries that have been treated by LASAMBUS.” the statement said

Armed robbers on Friday night attacked film actors and actresses at a location in Abeokuta, Ogun State, and carted away their equipment and other valuables.
One of the victims, Zainab Bakare, told PREMIUM TIMES on Saturday that the bandits arrived the Quarry/Pepsi road location in an unmarked Toyota Sienna, as a movie production was going on at about 11.30pm.
She said the armed bandits, numbering four, ordered everyone at the scene to lie face down, before ransacking them.
Bakare said laptops, wristwatches, mobile phones and cash, as well as all recording equipment, were taken away by the robbers.
She said their cameras and a generator were also stolen.
“We thought they were Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, and temporarily suspended our recording,” she said. “But to our dismay, the bandits drew guns, asking all of us to cooperate with them, else they waste our lives,” she said.
A film producer, Adebisi Babalola-Hassan, said the thieves had earlier driven past the location, but returned after sighting actors and actresses.
Babalola is the producer of “Alade Aiye”.
“The robbery operations lasted for about 20mins,and ironically no vehicle passed the road,as the robbery lasted,” she said.
The attack was reported at a police station in Abeokuta.
2Baba who formerly goes by the stage name 2face Idibia has come out to speak on the recent feud with his label mate, Dammy Krane and Starboy, Wizkid, a beef which of course got physical.
During a recent interview on Wazobia FM’s radio show ‘Make Una Wake Up with Yaw 2baba who was promoting his new single “Coded Tinz” talked about the beef, read excerpts from the interview below;
“Mehn…I was really disappointed, you know, considering both of them na my people, and most importantly, Dammy and Wiz have been good friends; but I am glad they quickly put it all behind them and made peace.”

In March 2015, Davido, during his vacation in the United States, unveiled 19-year old Guinean beauty Sira Kante, resident in New York, as the love of his life.
