Well known billionaire businessman, Jimoh Ibrahim has publicly sacked the Managing Directors of his media companies over unpaid salaries of workers.
This occurred at a public lecture on the Energy Group 5th GMD Conference, aired live on AIT on Monday. Unpaid journalists of Newswatch Newspapers, Newswatch Magazine and National Mirror Newspapers had stormed the ongoing conference, demanding the payment of their 13 months’ unpaid salaries.
Displaying placards, the journalists, sang protest songs and took over the venue of the conference, insisting that Ibrahim address the salary issue before the conference could continue.
Ibrahim, who could not hide his anger, continued to blast the company heads who could not generate their own money to pay salaries despite heavy investment in the business.
He then fired Bolu Afolayan, MD of Newswatch on TV and verbally appointed, Demola Abimboye as new head of the Newswatch.
Subsequently, he announced that he would help to pay some of the companies owing six months salaries but on the condition that the Managing Directors and Deputy Managing Directors of the companies step aside.
I cannot borrow to pay their salaries. It is not sustainable,”
He stated that any of his companies that does not pay up all salaries owed by December 31, 2016, will be shut down.

Ace comedian Basketmouth is the latest celeb to nab an endorsement and he just scooped up a major one with Malta Guinness.
A mentally-deranged woman, simply known as Hassana, gave birth in broad daylight to baby boy at Kaduna Central Market, yesterday.
Hassana delivered the baby in front of a bank adjacent the Kaduna State Media Corporation, KSMC, while hundreds of citizens watched her. Some women formed a circle around her, while one of them played the role of a midwife.
Hassana, 22, had wandered around the market for years until she was spotted in the last few months with pregnancy.
“She moves in tattered clothes, scavenging for food around this market,” an excited trader in the market told Vanguard shortly after she had been moved away.
“Now, someone has impregnated her and God has helped her to get a fine baby boy. Many people are looking for this blessing, but he chose to give it to a woman who is not even in her senses. And the father seems not to exist.”
Vanguard learned that Ibrahima Yakubu, a journalist with Deutsche Welles, DW, who was at the market at the time quickly provided money to convey both mother and child to the Yusuf Danstoho Memorial Hospital, Tudun Wada, Kaduna, for proper medical assistance.
Yukubu subsequently contacted the Senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial disctrict, Senator Shehu Sani, who made some donations to both mother and child and also paid the hospital bills.
There were other donations from well meaning Nigerians to the new born baby and mother.
The items donated include packets of pampers, bottles of Olive oil, baby cloths, underwear, assorted baby foods and milks.
The last may not have been heard about the lingering N100m land fraud that rocked Lekki Re-setlement Schemes in Eti-Osa Local Government, Lagos State, western Nigeria.
The latest is the arrest of Pastor Felix Olu Fadare of the Redeemed Christian church of God, RCCG, Fullers Field Parish in Ajah area of Lagos over his alleged involvement in the scam.
Fadare was arrested and charged with fraud under the Criminal Code before Igbosere Magistrates’ court by the Special Fraud Unit, SFU.
Ilara Mokin, Ondo State-born Fadare was arrested in his hideout after the police trailed him following a petition against him by one of the victims, Kehinde Ola.
According to police, Fadare allegedly conspired with Adeola Ajidahun and defrauded Kehinde Ola to the tune of N30m under the false pretence of selling some plots of land at the same resettlement in Lagos.
Ajidahun, who resides at 89, Karimu Laka Street, Egbeda area of Lagos, and Fadare allegedly brandished fake documents to convince Ola and later took him to the area in Lekki and showed him the parcels of land.
Ola, who did not suspect any foul play, paid for the land through his bank.
Unknown to Ola, the land sold to him belonged to another family in the area.
P.M.NEWS also gathered that Ola was not the only person Ajidahun and Fadare allegedly defrauded over the land. Another victim, Tony Ezeoke, also lost over N10 million on the same land.
P.M.NEWS gathered that Ezeoke was sold a parcel of the land marked by the state government as road leading to the area.
When Ola discovered the fraud, he petitioned Anti-Special Fraud Unit, SFU, and Ajidahun was first arrested and charged to court.
During investigation, the police also discovered that the suspects had allegedly swindled many other victims and was using Fadare as estate agent to defraud victims.
Fadare was arrested last week and charged to court with conspiracy, obtaining under false pretence and stealing under the Criminal Code.
When Fadare was arraigned, he pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs A. O. Awogboro admitted Fadare on bail in the sum of N5m with two sureties in like sum.
The court also ordered that the sureties must provide evidence of tax payments for three years.
Fadare was remanded in prison custody at Ikoyi pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 3 February, 2016.

Two man suspected to be members of a cult group have been apprehended for stabbing 21-year-old Ifako United Football Club goalkeeper.
The incident happened on Friday (January 15) according to reports by Punch, the deceased Owawu Samuel was killed by two suspected cultists identified as Adebayo Ahmed, 22, and Ajose Isah at Ifako area of Lagos state.
According to a close friend of the victim called Salami Jimoh. The cultist came looking for the decrease requesting he must buy them drinks after they find out that he had previously bought drinks for other of their friends.
“At Ifako General Hospital where Samuel was confirmed dead, Adebayo was still pointing at him saying ‘you must die’ before he was later taken to Pen Cinema Police Station where he is being interrogated.” Says Jimoh.
However, it is still unclear how they managed to stab the victim, whom his close friend said he saw them having a discussion, but not too long after the victim met with his two friends, he was reported to have been stabbed.
There is an ongoing Investigation to fish out the real culprit to this crime.

Relatives of Sergeant Stephen James, the mobile police officer who killed three men and turned the gun on himself at Paulson Plaza, Ketu, Lagos State last Boxing Day, have not turned up to claim the body of the officer at the morgue.
Neither have they shown up at the headquarters of the Lagos State Police Command.
As at the time he committed the atrocious act, Sergeant James was attached to Mopol 22 Squadron under the leadership of SP Suleiman Y. Toyin.
James killed 34-year-old Oyesunle twin-brothers and another man, Adesanya Adegoke, popularly known as Jeje, on December 26, 2015 close to a hotel in Ketu, Lagos.
Following the extra-judicial killing of the three men and his subsequent instant suicide, he was posthumously tried and dismissed from the police force.
Three weeks after his death in the incident, no family member has come forward to claim his body or even acknowledged knowing him. In the attempt to trace his family, Sunday Sun learnt that the wife of Stephen James is a member of the police force and is currently serving under the Ogun State Command.
It was further gathered that the late James listed his son as the next-of-kin, but left no address as to how his wife could be traced. The Commander of the Mopol Unit 22, to which James was attached until his demise, Suleiman Y. Toyin, refused to comment on the matter.
Rather he directed the Sunday Sun reporter to the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Deola Badmus, being the official spokesperson of the command.
When Sunday Sun reporter contacted Badmus to shed light on the whereabouts of James’ family, she said that the family members absconded from the Alapere Barracks where they lived immediately the news filtered in that he had killed three civilians. Badmus said:
“Investigations are still ongoing concerning that case. As soon as we know the family’s whereabouts, you will be contacted.”
She explained that James was always on the go being a mobile police officer, and may therefore not have a house in Lagos, though he had been in the Lagos Command for six years. She said that most of the officers who come into Lagos State stay at the Squadron’s recreational centre or in the halls where space is provided for as many officers as possible.
She also confirmed that the late policeman had been posthumously dismissed from the police force and thereby forfeited his benefits in accordance with police regulations, because of his criminal act.
Prior to committing the infamy that led to his suicide, James was on routine posting to the branch of First Bank at Alapere, Ketu, Lagos, on the fateful day, but was found at Paulson Plaza Hotel.
There are different accounts of what transpired thereafter. The first account was that one of the twin brothers visited the hotel to book a room for his girlfriend, who was expected to arrive in the country.
Meanwhile, James who was at the hotel and had been drinking fired off shots that killed the twin brothers and another man, before killing himself. Another account was that Jeje was celebrating his birthday at the hotel and the twin brothers were in attendance.
James was at the time stationed at the hotel to provide security, but instead he James was at the time harassed people to buy drinks for him.
When Taiwo, Kehinde and Jeje came out of the hotel, James who was already tipsy still asked them to buy him beer. They refused and in anger he simply shot them.
The third account stated that the three victims and James got into an argument over analysis of a football match, and in the resulting altercation he shot the three men and killed himself.
The last account claimed that James was a teetotaler, who neither smoked cigarettes nor drank alcohol. According to this account, he left his duty post illegally and went to the hotel to watch the match, and had an argument with the three friends, who were alleged to have attempted to disarm him. In anger, he shot them and then killed himself.
He was buried on Sunday at a cemetery in Ikorodu while the corpses of the twin brothers, Taiwo and Kehinde Oyesunle were taken from Ikorodu General Hospital Morgue to the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital, Ojo, by naval personnel.

A new video of the Nigerian Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau making a DSS officer clean his shoes in public has enraged most Nigerians.
The video is said to have been taped in December when he attended the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Academy in Abuja. The video does not show how it started or who beckoned on the officer to clean the shoes.
It just shows him bending over to clean both shoes.

I need help . My boyfriend is so cute and drives a Range Rover sport. He is a business man, he sells phones and laptops, but he does not have a house cause he claims Abuja is expensive.

Days after her husband and manager died of cancer, Canadian singer Celine Dion has lost a brother also to cancer, a family spokesman said on Saturday.
Daniel Dion was 59.
The singer’s husband, Rene Angelil, died Thursday at the age of 73.
