The panel on the MTV Base TV special #BaseNaijaHottestArtist have named rapper, Olamide Baddo as Hottest artiste in Nigeria for the year 2015 after two days of intense debate.
2015 has seen Olamide release several singles that topped the MTV Base Official Naija Top Ten for many weeks, in addition to his successful promotion of protégé, Lil Kesh, and the recent surprise release of his fifth studio album, ‘Eyan Mayweather’ which has been topping charts.
On the panel that ranked ten of the hottest artists in Nigeria for the year 2015 were, OAPs Omalicha, Do2dtun and Sade Ladipo.
Joining the trio were showbiz entrepreneur Olisa Adibua, entertainment journalist Osagie Alonge, DJ Spinall and VJ Ehiz.

Empire character, Cookie Lyon has just been named the ‘Most Influential Fictional Character of 2015′ by TIMES Magazine.
The 16 people list was released today, and Taraji P. Henson came top of the list.
Cookie Lyon’s fierce character in ‘Empire’ was one that quicly got admiration from lots of fans across the world from the first day the show aired.
The magazine lists 16 characters from Glenn Rhee of ‘The Walking Dead’ to Christian Grey of ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ and Jon Snow of ‘Game of Thrones’.

Nothing less than 53 churches with mosques and hotels are reported to have been shut down by the Lagos State Government over noise pollution and other environmental offences.
The General Manager of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, LASEPA, Adebola Shabi, disclosed that the agency had received persistent complaints from residents and neighbours of the shut facilities.
He also stated that some of the sealed worship centres were converted from residential apartments to places of worship, constituting nuisance to other residents.
The General is quoted as saying:
“In recent times, most of the petitions kept coming to us. It was as if we are not working at all. That was why we shut the facilities.
“You cannot have makeshift structures and say you want to be conducting services or vigils there. Definitely, you will be disturbing your neighbours. So, the government won’t allow the use of makeshift structures as a church or mosque.
“Nobody is allowed to make a noise above 55 decibel during the day in residential areas and only 45 decibel is allowed in such areas at night.
In industrial areas, 90 decibel of noise level is allowed during the day, while the noise rate must not exceed 80 decibel at night.”

The convicted killer of drummer, Lee Rigby, Michael Adebolajo is reported to be suing the Prison Service for compensation after two teeth were knocked out in jail.
The 32 year old Islamic fanatic is reportedly seeking £20,000 damages following an incident with prison guards as they tried to restrain him.
According to Daily Mirro, he is said to have struggled with the officers as they led him from his cell in maximum security Belmarsh prison and claims the resulting struggle led to the loss.

Six suspected armed robbers, who allegedly attacked a female inspector and collected her bag containing N50,000 and other valuables, have been apprehended by the Lagos state police command.
According to Punch Metro, the robbers, at the Idi Oro bus stop in the Mushin area of Lagos, had swooped on the inspector as she alighted from a commercial bus, at about 10.30pm last Wednesday.
The matter was reported at the Anti-Robbery section of the SDCI and 23 suspects were picked up from the bus stop the following day. The inspector was said to have identified six of the suspects as the attackers.
The suspects are Monday Dahoof, 19; Opeyemi Abiodun, 28; Moshood Ibrahim, 27; Ademola Adeyanka, 28; Tope Akinyemi, 34; and Ibrahim Kamilu, 22.
Speaking with the publication, the suspects, however, denied attacking the inspector.
One of them, Akinyemi, said he was a fashion designer in the Oloosa area and he was returning from his shop when the police picked him up.
He said:
“I am a family man. I have not met the woman before in my life. I am a fashion designer. I was returning from my shop when the police waylaid and arrested me.”
A police source said that the bag, as well as two Automated Teller Machine cards in it had yet to be recovered.
“We initially arrested 23 of them at the scene of the crime. But the inspector was able to identify six of them. The police woman had just alighted from a commercial bus when the robbers swooped on her. They collected her bag and clothes.“She thereafter reported to the SARS and the suspects were arrested.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joe Offor, could not be reached for comment.

According to the duo who recently had a chat with newsmen, they were embarrassed by some Italian policemen who mistook them for minors.
In what the actors with a great sense of humor tagged ‘a mix of comedy and embarrassment’, they said, “apart from mistaking us for minors, the Italian police had threatened to arrest our promoter for not using baby carrier for us in the car.
The movie stars recalled that they had arrived Italy in company of comedian Julius Agwu for a show, and they were picked up from the airport by their promoter, who was driving them to the hotel they were to lodge when the policemen stopped them at a checkpoint.
The well-known pint-sized actors said they had to alight from the car, show their Nigerian passports to the policemen before they ever believed that they are adults with the physical frame of a child.
“It was funny,” he quipped, adding that “since then, Julius Agwu has been using the incident as joke in some events.
“But people don’t know that it’s a true life story,” he added comically.

The Nigeria Police, Kogi State Command, on Tuesday, paraded 21 suspected criminals, in Lokoja,including kidnappers, armed robbers and others said to have been terrorizing the people of the state in recent time.
Vanguard reports that among those paraded was a ‘masquerade’ who during a festival, stabbed one Ishak Yusuf to death.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Williams Aya, who paraded the suspects at command headquarters, said:
The ‘masquerade’ (real name, Shaibu Musa) of Okene town in Okene Local Government Area of the state and eight others (now at large) conspired and in the disguise of celebrating Ekhechi masquerade festival brought out the Obiede masquerade to terrorise the people. In the process the ‘masquerade’ engaged the deceased in a fight and stabbed him to death.”
Aya, however, said although the suspect denied taking part in the fight during which the deceased was killed, he admitted that on the said date, himself with his colleagues attended the Obiedu masquerade festival at 11p.m.
Also paraded were three suspects, Lawal Jale, Abubakar Isah and Haruna Iliyasu, for attempting to kidnap a brother to one of the suspects. He said:
“Jale of Fulani Camp, Obajana invited his friends from Katsina State to kidnap and assassinate his brother, Mu’azu Yahaya. They were arrested in the process of carrying out the act.”
It’s reported that the Police were called to Justin Bieber‘s London hotel at 6am on Monday morning after a girl he was with had an “almighty meltdown“.
The Sun reports that the star brought four girls with him back to the Rosewood Hotel after a night of partying, but things soon turned serious when one caused a scene in the hotel’s reception, with the authorities eventually called.
“The night had gone swimmingly as far as Justin was concerned, he’d been to a couple of clubs and had ended up going back to his hotel with four girls he met”
“But after fooling around in his hotel room one of them had an almighty meltdown. She stormed down to reception in no shoes and made a right scene,” they continued.”

Police confirmed in a statement:
“Police were called at approximately 06:15hrs on Monday to a hotel in High Holborn following concerns for the welfare of a female who was at the venue.Officers attended and it was established that the female was safe and well. There were no offences committed.”
The Federal Republic of Niger has agreed to transfer hundreds of prisoners from the militant Islamist group, Boko Haram back to Nigeria to reduce pressure on its crammed prisons, Reuters reports.
“Nigeria sent a working group here (to Niger) last week and the two sides have established an initial list of 500 detainees who will soon be transferred to Nigeria,” said a magistrate working on the case who asked not to be named.
He did not give the exact timing of the transfer or say how the potentially dangerous prisoners would be transported. The prisoners are currently being held in the detention centers of Kollo, Diffa and Koutoukale, all of which are overpopulated due to arrests of Boko Haram militants, a justice ministry source said.
A quite shocking video, which has gone really viral on social media, shows a pregnant woman violently smashing up a car, which is her husband’s.
The woman is said to have caught her husband getting lunch with his mistress, and she decided to take matters into her own hands and get instant revenge.
The unidentified pregnant woman stands on top of her husband’s car, stomping and jumping on it till the windshield is shattered, then she grabs a nearby rock to continue inflicting damage.
The incident is believed to have occurred somewhere in Ceilandia, Brazil, while her husband and his mistress were still dining in a nearby restaurant.
People just watched and even interacted with her as she did the damage.
A web designer, identified as Babatunde Omoyeni, who planned to have his Christmas and New Year celebrations in the United States of America, has reportedly been killed in Lagos over N50. The deceased was supposed to travel on December 10.
After obtaining all travel documents, the 38-year-old decided to go clubbing with his friends on Saturday. He was returning when he had a disagreement with a bus conductor over the N50 fare and was stabbed to death.
According to Punch Metro, it was learnt from a police source that angry residents almost lynched the conductor, who was identified as Samson Eletu.
He was reportedly saved by a community leader, who took him to the Aguda Police Division. The source said:
“The victim was returning home after a party when he entered the bus.“He gave the conductor N500, but the conductor told him he didn’t have N450 change, because the fare was N50.
When they got to the bus stop, the man demanded his change and that started a fight.
An Alfa in the bus intervened and separated them. But the conductor, who was still aggrieved, trailed the victim to his house.”
It was learnt that Eletu, while armed with a broken bottle, banged on the gate into the house.
“As the deceased opened the gate, Eletu stabbed him. Babatunde took to his heels, but the conductor chased him. Unfortunately, he fell down and the conductor stabbed him repeatedly,”
It was learnt that Eletu was fleeing from the scene when he was nabbed by a suspicious resident who saw blood stains on his clothes.
The younger sister of the victim, Blessing Omoyeni, said his brother would not have died if he was rescued on time. She said he spent over one hour in a pool of blood before he was rushed to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi Araba.
She said:
“Nobody was ready to assist him to the hospital. A man had to throw himself in front of a commercial bus and asked the passengers to disembark, before he could get help.
“He was rushed to LUTH, but they were turned back at the gate by a doctor who pronounced him dead on arrival around 12am.“People started beating the conductor and almost killed him before he was rescued and taken to the Aguda Police Division.”
His girlfriend, Temiloluwa Ogundayo, said Babatunde had recently informed her to prepare for their engagement. Ogundayo, who lived with Babatunde, said she was not aware that he had been killed until the early hours of Sunday.
“We have dated for over one year and he told me to meet my sister to ask for the requirement for our engagement. He said we would go there on Monday.
“On that Saturday morning before he went to work, we made love. He called me around 5pm to prepare food for him that he would soon be home. I had done everything and was waiting for him in the house till 11pm when I drifted off into sleep.
“Around 1am, he came in and slept beside me. He rubbed my head with his hand and I asked him if he had eaten his food, but he said I should not bother, that he was fine.
“I went back to sleep and it was around 6am that somebody called me and asked if I knew he was dead. I jumped up and looked around the bathroom and kitchen to know if he was there, but I couldn’t find him.”
The victim’s friend, Ogunyemi Olaribigbe, described him as quiet and gentle, adding that his death was a big blow to all who knew him.
Thirty-two-year-old Eletu said the victim attacked him first.
He said:
“I am also a driver and I had parked my bus at about 7pm when I saw a co-driver who offered to take me home. “It was along the way that he decided to pick passengers and there were eight of them in the bus.
“I collected money from seven of them, but he refused to pay and said he knew me on the street. “It was at the bus stop that he broke a bottle and stabbed me in the forehead and cheek. I also got the same bottle, but unfortunately I stabbed him in the neck and he died.”
Super couples, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, have earlier in the day taken their new born baby, Saint West, from the hospital, home. The duo reportedly left the Los Angeles hospital after they welcomed their son on Saturday.
“They are home now. She is recovering and doing well,” They left in a tinted metallic grey Range sport.
Although, not all members of the Kardashian clan were by Kim’s side as she went into labor, but it was gathered by E! News at the time that, mother, Kris Jenner and her older sisters Kourtney Kardashian and Khloe Kardashian were at the hospital.
Kourtney‘s ex and father of their three children, Scott Disick, was seen dropping her off at the medical center, where he remained for about 20 minutes.
While at the hospital, the family also took the time to visit Lamar Odom, who was first hospitalized in October. Kendall Jenner was not present as she was in London during the birth, and Kylie Jenner was in Miami for Art Basel.

Outspoken Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has opened up on supporting President Muhammadu Buhari during the electioneering, claiming that Nigeria would not have survived four more years of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
The Nobel laureate aired out his stance during a programme titled, ‘Channels Book Club’ on Channels Television on Tuesday. He said:
“We were left with two credible contestants in terms of catchment area for the nation. We had reached, in my view, the bottom.
I became convinced that if this country underwent four more years under President Jonathan, the country would run aground completely. I looked at the record and said this cannot go on, this has to stop.
“Then I looked at this man who had contested elections three times before and said he would not contest anymore and then decided to throw his hat in the ring. I talked to people and I said do you know what you’re doing?
“And after weighing all the options, I said let’s try a new one. And since in electoral terms, he was the one, I guardedly, with reservations, announced that no, not a continuation under Jonathan.
“And so very reluctantly, I want this on record, because I made it quite clear, I weighed the two of them and I said this nation stands a better chance under Buhari. And what has been coming out now? Look at all that has been coming out? Look at the figures (loot) which virtually hammer one into the ground just the sheer enormity of the robbery of this nation that is getting exposed progressively. It shows that we did not make a bad choice.”
When the professor was asked if he was completely satisfied with Buhari’s six months in office, Soyinka said,
“Not totally but Buhari has proven that there is such a thing as a born again democrat.”
His opinion of the recent pro-Biafran agitations, Soyinka said:
“So, let us sit down, let us talk once again about restructuring the nation in a way that no one will want to leave. The agitations, for me, are not surprising. It was expected that it would happen sooner or later.
“So, I am referring to a genuine and authentic National Conference. Not like the one that former President Olusegun Obasanjo called which was meant to try to perpetuate himself in office.
“The one under Jonathan was extensive; it covered lots and lots of ground. It proposed some far-reaching changes, not far-reaching for me, but far-reaching. It is about time we went back to efforts like that; genuine ones like that.”

Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton donned the late Princess Diana‘s favorite exotic diamond Tiara as she arrived with Prince William at the Queen’s annual Diplomatic Reception in a chauffeur-driven Bentley.
The stunning tiara was originally created by Queen Mary in 1914 to her own design from pearls and diamonds. In her will, the Queen Mary left the tiara to the Queen who wore it frequently, including at an evening event in 1955.
In 1981 she gave it as a wedding present to Prince William‘s mother, Diana, who wore it for the first time at the state opening of parliament that November.
Buckingham Palace was unable to confirm last night whether the tiara had reverted to the Queen on Diana’s death and had now been given to Kate, or whether it was just on loan for the night.
