YBNL Leader, Olamide Baddo has revealed in an interview that Reminisce – Baba Hafusa is not a competitor.
In a recent interview reported by Vanguard, Olamide says he does not see Reminisce as a competitor. He added that it is okay to be compared to him.
In his words:
‘It’s okay to be compared with Reminisce we are brothers, we don’t see ourselves like a competition.‘
In the last few years, D’Banj was arguably the most celebrated Nigerian artiste alive. Over seven years, he kept churning out hits and bestrode the music scene like a colossus. But few months after his break up with his producer and partner of the defunct Mo’Hits Records- Don Jazzy, things began to nosedive and his relevance began to wane.
Since the breakup in 2012, he has worked with four different managers and management companies ranging from Seun Abisagboola popularly known as Bankulli, Tonye Merrit, Tony Nwakalor and Sunday Are of List Entertainment, his manager in the Mo’Hits era.
What we can’t however comprehend is whether these managers could no longer wave the magic wand effectively enough to yield the very badly needed effect to catapult D’Banj’s career to a most enviable height.
However, it might not be far from the truth to say that D’Banj is the architect of his own misfortune.
This week, Seun Apara attempts to examine the dwindling fortunes and career of the pop star and his many struggles to regain reckoning in the spotlight.
1. Capacity: It is an obvious secret that D’Banj lacks the capacity to single handedly write a good song but he is no doubt a great entertainer. His performances are always full of great energy and exude lots of confidence. He is unarguably a superb performer. Beyond that, what is the essence of sweating it out on stage when the fans are obviously not connecting with the music?
It has been observed that D’Banj doesn’t have the ability to write to the maximum capacity of an ideal song. He only writes catch phrases that match his somewhat mediocre vocal strength so that he can confidently express it.
And with a voice that is limited, the song also becomes limited. Aside the fact that his songs now sound monotonous, they are written and performed within the same style, similar dynamics and similar expression.
A common feature in his music of recent is that he sings the entire song at a similar pitch and similar emotional intensity unlike the good old Mo’Hits days. While his relationship with Don Jazzy subsists, Jazzy reportedly composed over 90% of the songs they recorded.
To however cover up for his lapses, one would have expected him to immediately enlist the services of a good songwriter or develop his own capacity. His last major hit still remains Oliver Twist, his last song produced by Don Jazzy.
MAVIN Records big boss, Don Jazzy, born Michael Collins Ajereh is an enigma, whom very little is known about. He once boasted that he hates talking onstage and rarely ever grants press interviews.
Apart from his activities on social media very little is known about the multi-award winning music maker.
But recently Don Jazzy let down his guard and granted City People, a soft-sell magazine an interview.

Newly appointed Super Eagles Coach, Sunday Oliseh has addressed the issue of ‘The Exclusion of Mikel Obi’s name from the list of players invited for the forthcoming 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Tanzania’.
When He was Asked why Mikel was left out of his list, Oliseh said he called Mikel several times but he never responded or called him back.
“I went to England on a Thursday and Chelsea was just coming back. We had fixed our visit to coincide with the end of their tour before they played Arsenal. I contacted Obi Mikel, called him on several occasions with no reply; sent him an SMS with no reply, went to London where he plays in the same club with Victor Moses.
I called Moses, the phone rang three times and he picked it up and I spoke with him. Moses came to the meeting but he (Mikel) didn’t come.”
I left to Liverpool to meet the other player and I spent about six hours to go there and back but there was no response from Mikel until I returned here. Till now I have not spoken with Mikel. I think it was yesterday (Wednesday) that I saw a missed call, so at the moment I don’t know what the situation is.

Artiste Manager of 5 Star Music Group, Soso Soberekon has apologized for the death scare he caused over Skiibii’s health situation on Friday, August 14, 2015.
He wrote a public apology letter via his Instagram account.

In the letter he said the incident was caused because of a “breakdown in communication.” He also wrote that he accepts full responsibility for what happened.

5 Star Music artiste, Skiibii, has finally spoken up following the drama created by his death hoax, late last week.
Recall the Singer was pronounced dead on the morning of Friday, August 14.
The artiste was said to have collapsed on his living room floor where he was found without pulse and rushed to the hospital.
2 hours later things took a dramatic turn when it was discovered that the singer was actually alive and undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
This led to a lot of controversy and Skiibii was alleged to have faked his own death to create publicity for himself.
After all the drama, Skiibii finally decides to speak up on the incident.
He had this to say via his Instagram page:
“I can not say thank you enough to everyone for the love and support you have generously shown me in my time of trial.
“Life is full of dramatic twists and joyous moments and to this end; I thank everyone for the well wishes and prayers. Indeed God always wins.
“I would also seize this opportunity to admonish that being alive is a huge privilege and being in good health should never be taken for granted. Death is not a play thing neither should it be joked over and/or about.

No one will be happy when one is heart broken or one has a broken home. I don’t like dwelling on the past or crying over spilled milk. What concerns me most is focusing on my future and whatever it is I need to do at the moment.

Alanna Allen, is an ambitious woman who is crazy in love with her job and she would do anything to keep or make it progress as swiftly as possible. As manager of five hairdressing salons in Surrey, the 29 year old has worked her way up and now heads a team of ten stylists. She is said to be one of the UK’s top colourists.
To remain at the very top of her game, she’s also made a drastic some might say alarming – decision. Like a growing number of women, she uses hormones, intended as contraception, to switch off her monthly periods and stop them disrupting her career.
She tells Daily Mail
‘I’ve not had a period for seven years now, and I’ve never looked back,’ The best thing for me is the convenience. When you’re with a client, you want to focus entirely on them.’Stopping my periods has allowed me to ‘man up’ and get on with things. I’m not only in charge of my own staff but I oversee the managers of our other salons and I have very little sympathy for any of the young female apprentices who say they are suffering from period pains. There’s no need for any woman to have to put up with that.’
But a generation of young women like Alanna are refusing to let their periods damage their prospects:
‘I started taking the Pill in my early 20s, but found it irritating having to remember to take it at the same time every day. I’d still get a bleed, backaches and cramps which isn’t convenient when you’re a hairdresser and on your feet all day. I’d take painkillers and would sometimes need days off. Not exactly ideal when you want to get on with your career.
‘Friends had mentioned the injection and I thought I’d give it a whirl. Although I put on a bit of weight and suffered a few minor headaches, my periods stopped. It makes my job so much easier. Now, if any of the women in my salon start complaining about period pains, I recommend the injection to them.’

Apparently, one may think this is some kind of comedy or prank, but no it isn’t; It is real and it happened at Rufus Giwa Polytechnic in Owo, Ondo state.
On her wedding day, Oluwatunmise Adejube, a student of Department of Accountancy, hurriedly left the Owo local government area, where she swore matrimonial oath, and rushed to the school to write an exam.
The Nation reports that the new wife was accompanied by a group of young ladies, who formed her bridal train. They stormed the school in a convoy of three exotic cars.

Before invigilators understood what was happening, the tension-soaked atmosphere became relaxed as the sudden appearance of the bride elicited laughter from the stressed students, who prepared to write a difficult paper.
An hour later, Oluwatunmise was on her way from the examination hall to reception, where her husband and guests were waiting for her.
An invigilator, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that Oluwatumise was allowed to write the paper despite her lateness for the exam. He also praised the girl for her determination not to be carried away by the euphoria of the wedding.
Speaking with reporters after writing the paper, Oluwatumise stressed that her education was as important to her as her marriage.
“When the wedding date was fixed some months ago, nobody knew it would clash with my second semester examination. What appears to be a saving grace for me is that, both the wedding and examination are taking place in the same town. If otherwise, I would have missed the three-unit paper and carry it automatically,” she said.
The groom, Mr Adesina, said that he was shocked and stumped when his bride told him the examination timetable clashed with the wedding.
“I really praised her dogged determination. It was like a tug of war because she had to prepare for her exam and ran around for the wedding at the same time. Now that the confusion is over, I give thanks to God for making it easy for us,” he said.
