Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Ifu Ennada, has revealed the reasons behind her decision to quit acting three years ago.
In a recent interview with Punch, the brand influencer and beauty entrepreneur shared the factors that led to her sudden departure from the Nigerian movie industry.
According to Ifu Ennada, she chose to take a break from acting in order to focus on her business.
She, however, noted that now that her company has the required system and structure in place, she intends to go back into acting.
“I have not been acting for about three years now. I decided to take a break to focus on my business. I wanted something that would fit my lifestyle, which I would be able to take a break from.
As an actress, one cannot do that. But, if one has a business, one can always do whatever one wants want. I could be away from my business for about a month and still be making money. Now that I have a system and structure, I intend to get back to acting. I actually have a project coming up with a producer, Martins Gbados, and hopefully, we would start this year.
Aside from that, I also want to produce my own feature film. In 2016, I produced a short film, and that was even before I went for BBN. It got me an award or two, and that was when I did not have as much resources as I do now. By next year, I intend to produce a film. I already have the story; I am just trying to get my budget right.” She said.
On why she ventured into skincare business , Ifu Ennada said,
“The reason I got into skincare was that I had a friend who was supposedly a cosmetologist from Lagos, and he talked about how my skin needed to be glowing. He gave me all sorts of product that I went into the Big Brother house with, but they damaged my skin badly and I developed cystic acne, which made me depressed. I used to cry on my bed. I tried different ways to get my skin cleared but there was no result.”
Nigerian media personality and daughter of Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Yeni Kuti, has shed light on the cause of her father’s death.
Fela, the renowned Afrobeat legend, passed away on August 2, 1997, and his brother, Olikoye Ransome-Kuti, publicly announced that Fela had died from complications related to AIDS.
During a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Yeni revealed that initially, she and her siblings rejected the decision made by their uncle, Dr. Olikoye Ransome-Kuti, to disclose that their father had died of AIDS.
However, after numerous persuasions from family members, they eventually agreed to allow their uncle to make the announcement.
Yeni said she later discovered that her uncle’s decision was the best because it put speculations about the cause of the death of the legendary musician to rest permanently.
Her words,
“Then, I didn’t think the decision by his brother [Dr. Olikoye Ransome Kuti] to announce that he [Fela] died of AIDS was the best.
“I remember we [Fela’s children] had a big fight with my uncle at a time. They had already diagnosed Fela with AIDS at the hospital.
“Uncle Koye wasn’t in town when the diagnosis came. And he came maybe about two days later…Then he called us, Femi, Shola and I, ‘you know what has happened, I’m going to announce to the press that he has AIDS.’
“We said, ‘No, way’. At that time, we still thought Fela would survive. We said, ‘look, it’s not your place to announce that Fela has AIDS, if Fela survives, let him.’ And he said, ‘Okay, you have a point.’
“But then, Fela now died. And he [Dr. Olikoye Ransome-Kuti] said he is going to announce that Fela had AIDS.
“We quarrelled with him. The whole family started talking to us, ‘it’s not good to lie, people are still going to discover.’ So, reluctantly, we agreed.
“But I have to say it now, I think it was the best decision that my uncle made. If he had not announced it, till now they [journalists] will still be doing underground ‘what killed Fela?”

You will recall that Juliana, who came into the limelight with her role as Toyosi in Funke Akindele’s sitcom, ‘Jenifa’s Diary’, had a fallout with Funke over an undisclosed issue in 2017.
Years later, in a lengthy Instagram post on Saturday night, Juliana expressed her deep remorse and apologized to Funke, admitting that she deeply hurt her.
She also addressed the issues that led to her withdrawal from the series.
“As a teenager, my career in the mainstream entertainment industry started in a place that many people who have put in years of hard work could only dream of. How could a neophyte start from the mainstream if not for a miracle?
In my case, the mercy of God and unmerited favor was evident. I broke into the industry by playing a friend and co-lead with a screen goddess who had put in decades of hard work and unprecedented creativity, even at that time.
God used Aunty Funke Akindele @funkejenifaakindele to put me into the limelight. It was a shocker for me, especially at that tender age when I had barely left secondary school. The kind of fame I earned from playing Toyosi in Jenifa’s Diary was too enormous for my understanding.
However, the lack of industry know-how started manifesting in me, coupled with the fact that I had a guardian (manager) who didn’t understand how the entertainment industry works, and I believed anything he felt and said.
My guardian sent an email to Scene One TV, the producers of the sitcom, the entire content of which I wasn’t aware of until recently.
The story of my goofs at the start of my career cannot be exhausted in a million words. I want to use this opportunity to apologize to Aunty Funke Akindele. Ọmọdé ò lè mọ ẹ̀kọ́ jẹ, kó má ra lọ́wọ́. I am incredibly sorry for how I hurt you and how the email that was sent hurt you.
Please forgive me for my childish mistakes of the past. I am deeply sorry for everything.
I love you eternally, Aunty Funke.
NB: I just feel the burden to make this official. It’s not an attempt for people to help me beg her. I have met Aunty Funke; she has forgiven me. She hugged me, prayed for me, cooked for me like she used to in those good old days. Jollof rice elemi meji, fried rice, and sweet chicken. (lol)

Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has explained why he will never refer to President-elect, Bola Tinubu as his President.
Pastor Bakare remarked that the 2023 election was full of fraud and inadequate standards when speaking during a webinar on Saturday, May 27.
Additionally, he said that the Independent National Electoral Commission messed up the election campaign, and that Nigeria is now going away from someone who upholds integrity and is impervious to corruption toward someone who does not.
Bakare said;
“Last Wednesday, I was at the Glass House where he (Buhari) has been restricted now because the main house is being renovated. I said I have done that for you. I want you to know that, because of the circumstances of your flying into power on the wings of integrity and incorruptibility, but you’re now passing onto someone who does not have that value.
At any public lecture anywhere, before this mess is cleared off, I will address Asiwaju (Tinubu) as a President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria but I will never call him my president.
I participated in the primary, and there were hundreds (of persons) who participated only by stepping down, so there is no shame in what we have done. We spoke truth to power.
I wasn’t there when they voted, I wasn’t there when they scored (me) zero, but we won that badge of zero and badge of honour.”
Speaking on if he would accept a nomination to become a Minister, Bakare said;
“I am not desperate to be a minister, not at all. I was offered before but I turned it down. My life is not just to take photographs with the president and shake hands. But we will do if it will benefit even one citizen.”

“It is lack of training (that makes actors not to be flexible in interpreting their roles). There are some people in the industry who do not go for training. There are some ladies, who shot movies just because they had money. They would go behind closed doors to do the movie without prior training. Once they have money, they produce films, even without knowing the job.”
Speaking on how far she had come in the industry, Success said;
“I have achieved a lot in the movie industry. Some people appreciate me. I got married when I was in the industry and I know many people in the industry. My husband, Saheed Oscar, is a director in the industry.”
The graduate of Mass Communication, Olabisi Onabanjo University, also stated that the course had impacted her career.
In her words;
“It is good to be educated. It tells a lot on one’s career. Some people are surprised that I went to school. After I completed my youth service in Bayelsa State, I posted my certificate and my uniform on social media. When people watch my movies, they would think that I did not attend school,” she added.
Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh, has opined that she found it strange when strangers came to her social media DMs to ask her to use her connections to help them get a job.
In a post shared on her Instagram page, the mum of one noted that helping a stranger who she did not know was risky for her if the situation turned sour.
According to her, if the stranger committed a crime at the new job, she would be the one responsible for it because she was helping the person.
She wrote;
“I still don’t understand this concept.. Maybe I am over thinking this or I am not thinking rationally.
BUT how can a total stranger Dm you to help them look for a job, now first it’s ok if I know you to an extend. But a total stranger asking me to use my connections to get you a job, I don’t know your background.. you may go and commit a crime(you cld steal,k&ll,Dupe,plan a k&dnap and the list goes on.)
Who do you think they will HOLD? #My darlingz e get where begging suppose stop and this is on Dawg!!!
And to think some women will be begging to look for job for their husbands a few mins after you have sent me a picture of your bartered face. W00000000H JESUS take the wheels”
Her opinion raised arguments with her followers who opined that it was better to beg for a source of income than money.
Reacting to this, the actress stressed that it was important to ask for a job from people who could hold them accountable and not just random strangers.
Media personality Yeni Kuti, has revealed that the late Afrobeats superstar, Fela Kuti was not a good father.
She stated this while being interviewed by media personality, Chude Jideonwo, but added that he was an icon and a role model.
Yeni said that while Fela and his first son, Femi Kuti, were always at odds, she never addressed him about not being a good father.
She said;
“He [Fela] was not quite a good father. No [I never told him that he isn’t a good father]. Maybe Femi, not me. Femi and Fela used to have battles. And Femi will give it to him straight.
Shola and I, we were like timid. You know, they said, ‘When two elephants are fighting, the grass will keep quiet.
I can remember one day, Fela just came and said, ‘three of you are useless children’. Femi just said, ‘for what?’ Femi just started facing him and then they started facing each other. Shola and I will say, ‘it’s okay’. Fela will say, ‘No’. And Femi just said, ‘let him go’.
I don’t think I have ever had that kind of confrontation with my father. Maybe because I was a woman.”
Media personality and elder sister of Nigerian singer Femi Kuti, Yeni Kuti, has revealed why the singer’s ex-wife, Funke, left him.
Speaking in a recent chat with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Yeni revealed Funke walked out of the marriage due to a “communication breakdown.”
She noted that Funke regretted her decision, as she later admitted that if she had known what she knows now, she probably wouldn’t have divorced the singer.
“I think the divorce between Femi and Funke was a result of a communication breakdown. Even now, Funke says that if she had known then what she knows now, she probably wouldn’t have left the marriage. So, I believe it was a communication breakdown.”
“You know, our people can be quite malicious. If they see something good, their focus becomes how to bring it down. Many people have been advising her. Just like me, people say, ‘Why are you still dancing for your brother? Go and form your own band.’ Which band do I want to form? Did I ever come to you saying I want to form a band?” Yeni said.
She said that is her personal choice and she shouldn’t be judged for choosing to stay with an unfaithful man.
Speaking further, Yeni said her father, late legendary Afrobeat singer Fela Aníkúlápó Kuti, had 27 wives and her mother did not divorce him, therefore she also can’t leave her partner because of another woman.

In other news, Popular Nigerian journalist and publisher, Ogar Solomon has advised men on an unconventional way to get their wives to be submissive.
Solomon, in a Facebook post on Friday, May 26, told men whose wives do not submit to them to tell them that another wife is coming.
Solomon acknowledged that it is perfectly fine for men to love their partners wholeheartedly and to be open and vulnerable with them, as long as they are blessed with a good woman.
However, he cautioned against weakness in men, as it can lead their wives to adopt a feminist mindset. According to Solomon, a weak man is more likely to face challenges in maintaining his authority within the marriage.
