Big Brother Naija star and influencer, Angel Smith, has opined that babies and toddlers should not be allowed on flights.

She made this submission in a tweet shared on Monday, May 8, while complaining about the noise and tantrums children throw during flights.

According to her, airlines should ban children from flights for the sake of other passengers. She further told parents to leave their ‘noisy’ kids at home, instead of taking them along on their trips.

“They need to ban babies/toddlers from being able to board flights. Leave those noisy coco felons at home”, she tweeted.

The tweet has sparked outrage among people, especially parents, who felt the reality TV star was being insensitive to suggest that airlines should impose a ban on young children.

A Nigerian lady, Praise Oghre, has recounted how she abruptly ended an all-expenses-paid trip in Maldives and returned to Nigeria after the man she traveled with made an obscene request.

Praise had reluctantly agreed to go on the trip with the man, who begged her to keep him company. However, upon getting to the vacation destination, she discovered that the guy had booked the same room for both of them to sleep in, which made her uncomfortable.

Praise eventually took the next flight to Nigeria, leaving the man there, as she had only expected to keep him company and not engage in anything sexual with him.

Narrating the incident on Twitter, she emphasized that she would not give up her virginity for a vacation and that her future husband deserves better.

A 20-year-old woman, Fatima has taken her father before a Kaduna Shari’a Court for allegedly pressuring her to wed a stranger.

Fatima testified in court that she is in love with someone, and according to reports, her father, Aliyu Muhammad, has threatened to take her to the village and force her into wedlock.

The court was also informed by her attorney, Malam Y.A. Bulama, that his client did not initiate a lawsuit against her father out of disdain for him. Bulama said;

“The father wants my client to marry a man in their village in Niger state. Right now she’s living in her aunty’s house because he threatened to take her to the village and marry her off.”

Fatima’s father, however, argued before the court that he had to honor his late parents’ decision to choose a groom for his daughter when they were still alive. He said;

“I married my six daughters off in the village and they are doing well. Fatima’s mother is the brains behind her stubbornness. I need permission to consult with my people over this matter.”

According to Shari’a law, a parent has the right to select a partner for his daughter, however the judge Malam Isiyaku Abdulrahman said that forced marriage is not encouraged. He also advised the father of the daughter to have patience with her.

In his words;

“You are her father, therefore you should pray for the best for her because if you are angry with her she won’t see good things.

“Allow her to present the person she wants to marry and if you are pleased with his religion and character, you allow her to get married”

While preaching in his church recently, the clergyman advised married women not to fight with their husband’s mistresses or nag their husbands for cheating on them.

According to the clergy who claimed to have gotten the advise from the Holy Spirit, instead of complaining, married women should humble themselves and seek advice from their husband’s mistresses on how to satisfy and make him happy.

Canadian rapper Aubrey Drake Graham, popularly known as Drake, has taken to social media to share his father’s ancestry results, showing he’s Nigerian.

Taking to his Instagram stories, the international music act shared a screenshot of the DNA ancestry result, which showed he’s 30% Nigerian.

A Kenyan woman is alleged to have murdered her 3-year-old son and dumped the body in a quarry because her new boyfriend didn’t want a child.

A Facebook user identified as Ayoki disclosed this on the platform on Sunday, May 7, 2023.

According to Ayoki, the incident happened in Obunga, Kisumu County, and the woman has been arrested and taken into custody.

“A lady in her twenties from Obunga strangled to death her three-year-old son and dumped the body in Kanyakwar Quarry. Locals who saw her raised an alarm when she tried to escape.

She was arrested by the area chief and booked into the Obunga police station. It is said that the lady was frustrated with life and was about to move in with a new boyfriend who didn’t want a child. She then thought it wise to take her child’s life,” he wrote on Facebook.

In other news, the police in the Federal Capital Territory have detained a 16-year-old boy identified as Emmanuel John after being accused of killing his father, Monday John, by beating him.

According to police sources, on May 2 at around 10 p.m., Monday and his wife, Mercy John, got into a disagreement at their house and Emmanuel struck his father with a pestle.

It was said that the couple had a heated dispute that became physical and Emmanuel attacked his father while siding with his mother.

He grabbed up the pestle and used it on his father during their argument. After collapsing, the father was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.

According to a police source, on May 3, one Yusuf Ayuba submitted a case of culpable homicide to the Karshi Police Station.

He claimed that after the completion of the police inquiry, Emmanuel would be taken into custody by the police and charged in a juvenile court.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba, spoke on the event during a news conference on Friday. He claimed the suspect smacked his father’s head hard.

The self-styled celebrity barman took to his Instagram page to share a video of him wearing a black Agbada with gold embroidery, paired with designer sneakers.

In the video, Cubana could be seen showing off the full range of his outfit as he folded the sleeve of his agbada and walked confidently in a parking lot.

He then revealed that the agbada, designed by celebrity stylist Seyi Vodi, is worth N1.5 million while his Dior Sneakers is N1 million.

Several Nigerian celebrities have taken to social media to slam actor Yul Edochie’s second wife, Judy Austin, over her video bragging about God’s love.

The controversial actress had posted a video on Facebook where she declared that she’s loved by God, and it might sound strange to a lot of people.

In the video, she noted that God has continually fought her battles and shared the testimony of her childbirth, stating that she gave birth when it seemed like it would not happen.

However, the timing of the video did not sit well with a lot of Nigerians, who believed that it was insensitive, especially since Yul’s first wife just lost a child.

Celebrities such as Nina Ivy, Nkechi Blessing, Uche Elendu, Uche Maduagwu, and others did not mince words and gave Judy a piece of their minds.

Nina noted that it was audacious of Judy to claim that God loves her when she had stolen “somebody’s husband” and the couple had just lost a son.

“What is wrong with this human? Bitch, you stole somebody’s husband, and they literally just lost a child, and you’re here saying God loves you. The audacity for me,” Nina wrote.

Uche Elendu also weighed in, saying, “I blame the money Facebook is paying for sha… odiegwu.”

Controversial Nollywood actress, Judy Austin has taken to social media to brag about God’s love and faithfulness in her life.

The thespian, who is the second wife of actor Yul Edochie, is seen in a video that was posted online expressing gratitude to God for always loving her and fighting her battles.

She recounted how God saved her and her baby during childbirth, stating that she gave birth when it seemed like it would not happen.

“I don’t know where to start from, God loves me so much. I know it might sound strange to a lot of people, but God loves me so much. I don’t know if he loves everyone as much as he loves me. They say it’s he who wears the shoe that knows exactly where it pinches. It is only me that knows, just me.”

“God loves me so much, he has continued to fight all my battles. I want the whole universe to worship God with me because he has been awesome. You don’t need people’s validation once you have God’s validation in your life; you are good. If you are with God, you are the majority.”

“I gave birth when it seemed like it wouldn’t happen. He came through for me, he made sure that I am fine and that I came home with my baby and that we both came out alive. Go and ask around, so many people have died from this, but I went through it and came out bouncing, dancing, and laughing every day,” she said.

This comes weeks after the actor lost his first son with his first wife, Kambilichukwu, to the cold hands of death.

A Nigerian lady, Peace Bright has responded to the criticisms she frequently faces for teaching on the subject of sexual purity.

Peace Bright who revealed that she is a virgin stated that she never forced her beliefs on anyone and only looked to promote sexual purity.

Sharing on her Facebook page, Peace replied to her critics and asserted that she was not going to quit her teachings.

“Often times when I put up advocacy posts, I get lots of criticisms and encouragements on the other hand. A lady came to my inbox telling me how I’m showcasing myself to being holier than thou.

The other person said I always force my beliefs and opinions on others Amongst other criticisms. Firstly I have not come on this space any day to declare my status, even if I should do ,my only aim is to promote sexual purity and Godly relationships.

Secondly, of course I don’t force my beliefs on anyone. Except I have pointed a gun at you before to choose sexual purity. I only advise. Advice is meant to be taken or not. The choice is yours.

I don’t really know why most persons feel attacked at the mention of sexual purity. If some persons can promote immoralities proudly. With a sense of purpose and pride I will keep promoting sexual purity, that’s my goal.

Veteran Nollywood actress, Joke Silva has stated the reason why she would never allow a movie to be filmed in her home.

She revealed this during “The Roundtable Lekki,” a conference for youth development. The actress claims that making movies involves a lot of people, many of whom she wouldn’t want in her personal space.

Joke Silva underlined the value of Nollywood having studios and sound stages that would give appropriate settings for filmmaking.

In her words;

“We shoot in apartments these days. But, I won’t allow movies to be shot in my home; it won’t happen.

I know the number of people that are brought into a shoot. There may be two people in a scene, but to shoot it, there will probably be about 20 people there. That means 20 people will put their hands on my wall, block the loo, and do other things.

We need to build our studios and sound stages, just like American filmmaker, Tyler Perry, has done. He built one of the biggest sound stages in the world.

The thing with sound stages is that there are usually facades. I once shot a movie in France, but all the interior shots were taken in London, United Kingdom.

All we did in France were the exteriors shots to give the ambience of that country. Sound stages give one control. It allows one to make movies at one’s desired pace.”

Speaking on the effects of streaming platforms in Nollywood, she said;

“Streaming platforms have made it easier for producers to be able to exhibit their works. Technology has done that for us. There is a wide range of opportunities right now when it comes to movie distributions. Streaming platforms help us connect to a global audience.”

Controversial Nigerian rapper, Speed Darlington has opined that renting a property rather than buying one in a foreign country is a better option.

In his opinion, owning a home in a different state or area would make it more difficult to leave immediately in the event of unanticipated circumstances.

He suggested that renting a house would be a better choice for a non-native resident than purchasing land.

In his words;

“It’s better to rent than to buy houses, especially in another man’s land. If you buy a house, over time it [the place] gets crowded. Political activist, Reno Omokri, has advised opposition parties to refrain from social media brawls since election petition tribunal judgments would not be influenced by it in his opinion.

This comes before the presidential election petition court’s scheduled hearing of the petitions contesting Bola Tinubu’s election as the next president on Monday, May 8.

Reno Omokri encouraged the opposition parties to work toward peace while stressing that the country’s destiny will be determined by the court’s recognition of the President.

He announced this on his Twitter page and urged Nigerians to choose a cause to support in order to improve their country.

He wrote;

“Realise and accept that elections are over. The only hope for a change in who the next President will be is the courts. Fighting supporters of other parties on social media won’t affect the judicial outcome. So, let us heal and behave like human beings with a common destiny.
