NYSC disassociates from male corp member who allegedly defrauded policewoman

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) management has distanced itself from Ukanwa Ikechukwu, a Corps member who was detained on suspicion of scamming a female police officer, ACP Modupe Okpaleke.

He was charged with defrauding a police officer of N235,000 on Friday, April 14 before an Iyaganku Magistrate’s Court in Oyo state and was charged with fraud and theft.

According to a statement from the director of press and public relations, Eddy Megwa, the culprit, Ikechukwu left the NYSC when he finished his service in February 2023.

The statement read in part;

“The attention of the NYSC management in Oyo State has been drawn to the information circulating on social media about a corps member sent to jail in Ibadan, Oyo State, for criminal offence. Management wishes to make the following clarifications; the said Ukanwa Ikechuwuku is now an ex-corps member who passed out of National Service in February 2023.

Secondly, when he was serving, he collected a sum of N235,000 to purchase a physiotherapy machine for a woman at the police clinic where he was serving but failed to get the machine. Every attempt made by the woman to get a refund of her money from this ex-corps member proved abortive, therefore she decided to charge him to court for criminal offence.

I wish to emphasise that the NYSC uniform is not an immunity against any form of criminality because the laws of the federation applies to all and sundry.”

The defendant entered a not guilty plea to the accusations at his arraignment in court.

Inspector Olufemi Omilana, the prosecution, informed the court that the suspect allegedly received N235,000 from Modupe Okpaleke on December 4, 2022, with the purpose to deceive.

Omilana went on to say that ACP Okpaleke met Ukenwa while seeking treatment for a leg ailment at the Police Cottage Hospital in Eleyele, Ibadan. Ukenwa suggested that Okpaleke purchase a bicycle.

The police claim that Ikechukwu, who was doing his NYSC at the Police Cottage Hospital in Eleyele, Ibadan, took N235k from the female officer there to help her but instead fraudulently used the money for his personal purposes.

According to the prosecution, the crime violated sections 390 (9) and 419 of the Oyo State 2000 Criminal Code.

“How do you marry a teenager and expect him to be independent of his mother?” – Mary Remmy Njoku

Nigerian actress, Mary Remmy Njoku has reacted to unconfirmed reports that Achraf Hakimi’s wife will get nothing in the divorce because the footballer allegedly has all his assets in his mother’s name.

Taking to her Instagram page, she remarked that Hiba Abouk should have saved her own money or waited till he was older before getting married.

According to the ROK TV boss, Hakimi is still a boy, and there is no sane African mother who will let go completely of her teenage child, it is acceptable that his mother manages his finances.

She wrote;

“How do you marry a teenager and expect him to be independent of his parents? an african teenager there is no sane African mum who will let go completely of her teenage child. Pikin wey suppose dey do a level. Abi because na star? Most of the contracts were probably signed when he was underaged. So it wasn’t international.
Every successful teenage athlete, there is a Mum, Dad, Guardian who believed in them more than they believed in themselves.
A parent who put in EVERYTHING. Money, time, prayers, emotional and physiological support, tears, scolding.
Someone who sacrificed the most they had just to make sure their CHILD stood out.
A teenager BOY is his mother’s son. A MAN is his wife’s husband.
She for wait small make he mature . Or better still, made her own money.”

“Real men don’t give their mothers money to keep away from their partners” – Tech entrepreneur, Charles Awuzia

Nigerian tech entrepreneur, Charles Awuzia has reacted to the unconfirmed claims that Achraf Hakimi put all his assets in his mother’s name, making it impossible for his wife to get anything amid their divorce.

Charles Awuzia took to Facebook to share a lengthy piece detailing his opinion on the matter and reasons, why he did not agree with Reno Omokri’s, takes on the issue.

Recall that Reno Omokri applauded the footballer and his mother for making a smart decision. Read here.

He claimed that if Achraf Hakimi hid his assets with his mother to prevent his wife from getting anything, then the footballer was not his hero.

Awuzie added that if Reno were as wise in relationship matters as he projects, then his wisdom should have saved his first marriage.

He wrote;

“My thoughts on #AchrafHakimi…

Achraf is trending for hiding his money under his mother’s name to frustrate his wife’s efforts to claim 50% of their estate.
Here are the facts:
1. Hiba Abouk, wife of Achraf Hakimi is a professional Spanish actress. She is not broke and definitely not a gold digger as many of you claim. She has her own money hence she never cared about Achraf sending all his money to his mother while she uses hers to run the home. In fact, in 2020, sportsmob called Hiba one of the RICHEST Spanish actresses.
2. Hiba is one of the most intelligent actresses in Spain. She speaks Spanish, Arabic, French, English and Italian fluently. How many international languages do you speak?
3. Hiba Abouk is older than her husband Achraf by 12 years… Yes, 12 good years. She contributed in the background to his rise. Achraf was only 19 when they met. Hiba is 36 years old now while Achraf is 24 years old. Achraf is a 24 year old mummy’s boy – no real man should ever take lessons from such a young mummy’s boy.
4. Achraf is not my hero. He is not the kind of man I would allow to marry my daughter. I see Reno has made him a hero, declaring him as wise as Solomon because he gave his money to his mother and not his wife.
Let me tell you something about Reno – his marriage with his first wife failed for a reason. He is currently married to an Ethiopian wife and believe me, he won’t try what he did to his Nigerian wife with this Ethiopian wife.
Nigerian women are the most abused wives in the world. Trust me. That’s why when our brothers take them overseas and their eyes open, they rebel. I’ll talk about this some other time but let me warn you about motivational speakers like Reno – before you buy their ideology, ask questions about their marriage. If their so called wisdom was truly wise, why did it not save their home?
Any man who gives his mother all his money to hide it from his wife is not man enough and definitely not smart. Did you follow Bill Gates divorce? That’s a smart divorce – they settled everything amicably and only went to court to sign the official paperwork.
5. There’s a rape case against Achraf right now. Rape is a serious crime. You don’t know what else his wife knows. We all recently condemned the #DalaiLama for asking a boy to suck his tongue. Why are you now making a hero out of a 24 year old mummy’s boy whose rape case is now before a court?
Conclusion:
Only a boy would give his money to his mother in order to hide it from his wife. And this also exposes the maturity of Reno. Stop taking relationship advice from boys. Achraf and the likes of Reno are men who give their mother money to hide from their wives.
For me, I raise men who are REAL MEN…. we don’t give our mothers money to keep away from our partners. We give our spouses right to our wealth and if they ever ask for divorce, we give them a reasonable Portion of the wealth we built together, say goodbye and continue to be friends for the sake of the kids. That’s how real men role.
My name is Charles Awuzie and Achraf is not my hero.”

Nigerian dentist tackles UK-based Nigerians who come online to complain about their lives in the UK

Nigerian Dentist, Dr. Oluwatomisin Oso has berated UK-based Nigerians who often come online to complain about the standard of living in the UK.

In a series of tweets shared on the microblogging platform, Twitter, Dr. Oso tackled those who automatically expect their lives to change overnight and discourage others from coming because they do not experience the rapid change they expected.

According to him, it was unfair to expect sympathy from people who did not have the basic amenities they are enjoying abroad because they could not be patient.

He wrote;

“The things you left in Nigeria, did you build them in a year? Why do you want your life to suddenly transform in one year of japa? If you see progress, be thankful and keep pushing cos you’ll soon break through. Some of the things UK people say makes me puke.

You get here and suddenly things that were considered luxury in Nigeria become your daily reality. You get things you couldn’t dream of buying in Nigeria, but you’re pissed you don’t have 20 thousand pounds in your account 12 months after traveling. What happened to patience?

You complain about working too much, but you forget to mention that you get paid for every extra minute you spend at work. You’ve suddenly forgotten how you spent 5 hours on the road going to work in Nigeria, or how you got called in to do overtime without extra pay.

In your 12 months here, police hasn’t stopped you once, you’ve never heard sound of generator or constant blaring of horns. You have constant power and superb internet, eat whatever you want without breaking the bank. Anytime you feel ungrateful, remember why you left Nigeria.

We know how bad things are back home, no one going through the wahala in Nigeria will take you serious when you complain. Don’t look for sympathy from people back home, your quality of life is considerably better, yes I said it. Form a community and lament amongst yourselves.

Stop looking for Pele and ehyah from someone that’s not had light in two weeks. Thank you.”

“Good bye, Emmanuel Ebiede. Your journey on earth has ended,” Acheru posted on his Twitter handle.

Emmanuel Ebiede’s passing comes a few weeks after his sister, Joy, raised alarm about his health.

Recall that earlier in the month, Ebiedi’s sister, Joy, revealed in a chat with Punch after photos of Ebiede with a protruding stomach surfaced on social media that he had been diagnosed with Hepatitis B.

“He is in BMH hospital in Port Harcourt but can’t talk properly now. He’s been here (hospital) since Friday, I came in on Saturday from Bayelsa State to look after him,” Joy said.

“His daughter called me that Daddy (Ebiede) was not feeling fine. So, I got here and saw his situation. It was his club members that rushed him to the hospital. Initially, it was malaria and typhoid, but his stomach got swollen.

“He underwent some tests to detect the cause of the swollen stomach. The test results diagnosed Hepatitis B. He’s not stooling freely, so I don’t know if that’s the cause of the swollen stomach.” She said.

“My wife is my next of kin, and I put her name on all my properties” – Man who dismissed wives as relatives reveals

Affectionate African American wife kissing her husband on the cheek

A Nigerian man who recently made headlines over his tweet that a man’s wife should not be regarded as his family member has made a surprising U-turn.

The man, identified as @Mazigomez while reacting to Moroccan footballer, Achraf Hakimi, and his wife’s divorce saga, asserted that a man’s wife is not his relative and that he can only totally rely on his parents and siblings.

His words,

“The truth remains that your wife is not your family. Only your parents and siblings are”.

His statement sparked controversy and received backlash from various individuals and groups who saw it as a belittling and disrespectful view towards women in marriage.

However, barely 24 hours after the tweet went viral, the man made a surprising U-turn, saying that his statement was not applicable to his own wife.

He deleted his previous post, and in a new tweet, he eulogized women, describing them as beautiful creatures.

He further revealed that, contrary to what he said in his viral tweet, his wife is his next of kin and all his properties are in her name.

“Women are beautiful creatures and I love the women in my life, especially my wife. She’s my next of kin and yes I put her name in all my properties.” He wrote.

“I was not allowed to enter Dubai because my face did not match my passport” – Bobrisky reveals

Controversial crossdresser, Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju popularly known as Bobrisky, has revealed that he was deported from Dubai because his appearance did not match the face on his passport.

Speaking on Toke Makinwa‘s podcast, Bobrisky said he had on a lot of makeup when he arrived at Immigration, which led the authorities to doubt his identification.

He stated that upon his arrival at the Dubai airport, he was deported back to Nigeria since the country’s Islamic laws forbade cross-dressing.

He claimed he had visited the United Arab Emirates on several times, but on that particular day, which was a Jum’ah day, he was deported.

In his words;

“The last time I went to Dubai, I was sent back to Nigeria. I have been to there so many times. But that one was their prayer, I think one of their special days. It happened to be on Friday, they go to the mosque. They are holy so extra on that day. When I got there, the camera did not accept my face. You know me na, I was on makeup, I want to brag first class, I want to talk ‘oh! guys, I’ve been to Dubai. Your mummy is in first class’.

So, I got to the Immigration where you are going to do everything. They saw my passport, they looked at my face. They said ‘face camera’. And I faced the camera. It rejected my face several times. They [Immigrantion officers] said ‘are you sure you’re the same person?’ And I said ‘yes’.

The man looked at me, he said ‘Idris, you are a Muslim?’. I said ‘yes’. He looked at my passport. He was confused.

So, we went to one of their private offices. And they said ‘are you trans or..’ I said ‘ well, I used to be a guy’. And they said ‘oh! on a normal day if it is not Friday’ they would have just allowed me in. But because it was Friday, jumʿah day, they said ‘no, they can’t allow me in.”

“Have a mother like Hakimi’s mother, and you will never have a bother” – Reno Omokri

Former Presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has shared his thought on the debate surrounding the divorce of Moroccan footballer, Achraf Hakimi and his wife Hiba Abouk.

According to an unconfirmed report, Hiba discovered recently that Hakimi had been putting 80 percent of his salary into his mother’s account, as well as buying properties in her name, which made it difficult for her to gain access to any of his assets since the couple is undergoing divorce proceedings.

The report ignited a discussion, with most men praising Hakimi for being “smart,” and others disagreeing and labeling him “mummy’s boy.”

Reacting to the news, Reno shared a picture with his mother on Instagram and claimed that having a mother like Hakimi’s meant you will never bother about your financial security.

According to him, Hakimi’s mother was a hero and everyone should have such a mother.

He wrote;

“Have a mother like Hakimi’s mother, and you will never have a bother. Hopefully, young men who disrespect their mothers because of their wives can learn a thing or two from Hakimi. Nobody can love you like God. But after God, nobody can love you like your mother, with the possible, but not regular, exception of your father! Hakimi makes us appreciate the lyrics of Prince Nico Mbarga’s Sweet Mother. You begin to understand why there are motherless babies homes, but no fatherless babies homes. Your wife may not take a bullet for you. But she will most likely take it for her child with you.

There is a difference between controlling someone and protecting them. Those who say Hakimi’s mother controls him may not see the big picture. Would you not rather be ‘controlled’ and be financially solvent, than left alone and made broke by divorce? If Princess Diana was alive to ‘control’ Prince Harry, do you think he would have ended up as Meghan Markle’s houseboy? I beg leave Hakim’s mother alone. We all should have such a mother. She is a hero!”

“Putting all your fortunes to your mom’s name as a married man is off” – Media personality, Solomon Buchi,

Self-acclaimed life coach, Solomon Buchi has weighed in on the heated debate on whether a man’s wife should be regarded as his family member.

He shared his opinion while reacting to the trending discourse about 24-year-old Moroccan footballer, Achraf Hakimi, whose wife, Hiba Abouk, 36, filed for divorce and allegedly demanded half of his property but got nothing because his properties were in his mother’s name.

In a series of tweet, Solomon Buchi explained why it was paramount to trust your wife with your finances.

According to him, if you could not trust your wife with your riches, there was no point marrying her because involving your mother in your finance was weird.

He tweeted;

“Your next of kin should be your wife not your mother. Your assets should have your wife’s name on them too. This is biblical marriage; you have become one in Holy Matrimony. If you can’t trust a woman with your riches, don’t marry her. Why marry who you don’t trust with your ALL?
This will probably get a lot of pushback from the redpilled movement, because of the recent Hakimi’s case: a successful footballer whose wife filed for divorce and division of his assets and properties, only to discover that he put all his fortunes in his mother’s name.This will probably get a lot of pushback from the redpilled movement, because of the recent Hakimi’s case: a successful footballer whose wife filed for divorce and division of his assets and properties, only to discover that he put all his fortunes in his mother’s name.
Hence, she has nothing to gain from the incentivized western divorce culture. This seems pragmatic, but it is not right and ideal. I can imagine the mammoth defense that some mummy’s boys will get today. Putting all your fortunes to your mom’s name as a married man is off.
It shouldn’t be so. And yes, women who also marry rich men, with intentions to incentivize the marriage through later divorce are wrong too, but we can’t correct a wrong with a wrong. Literally, the scriptures states that a man needs to leave his father and mother to be married.
This means a re-prioritization: after marriage, your wife becomes your number one. Your mother is still your mother, but you’re not one with her, she’s one with your dad. Respect them, but your immediate priority is your wife, and everything about you, she must have access to.
As much as these sad things happen, I’m trying to reconcile us to how things should be. Christian men shouldn’t be thinking in this manner: willing all you have to your mom as a married man. Nah.
And men, do your due diligence before you marry. If you can’t trust her, don’t marry her, because marriage without trust is like roommates living together. Hakimi did it doesn’t make it right. Don’t start off wrong. Things still work the right way.
Christian marriage is not a place to fight to protect; it’s a place to give. Something must give. Something must be at risk. We don’t truly love, if we aren’t risking anything.”
