Operatives of the Cross River state police command have arrested a lecturer of the Department of Philosophy at the University of Calabar, Gabriel Agabi Akwaji, for impersonating an ad hoc official of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Dr. Dominic Abakedi.
Akwaji, who wore an INEC reflective jacket, was arrested at the collation centre in Okpoma, Yala Local Government Area of the state, with a fake Bi-Modal Voter Accreditation System, or BVA machine, during the presidential and national assembly polls held on Saturday, February 25.
The ad hoc official who was impersonated, Dr. Abakedi, was posted to the Yache ward of the Yala Local Government Area, but Akwaji claimed that Abakedi told him to represent him and execute the job.
Trouble began when the collation officer could not be found after elections concluded at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mr. Akwaji is said to have arrived at the Okpoma, Yala Local Government Area headquarters at about 2:00 PM on Sunday in the company of chieftains of a political party after staying incommunicado since Saturday evening.

The suspect was whisked to the Ogoja Area Command for further interrogation by the Criminal Investigation Unit.

Reality TV star, Alex Asogwa also known as Alex Unusual, has rained hefty curses on celebrities who campaigned for APC Presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for their selfish reasons.
Alex went on a lengthy rant on Instagram to express her frustration with the ruling party following the reports of malpractices, rigging, and intimidation they allegedly perpetrated during the general election on Saturday, February 25.
According to her, she is utterly disappointed and have lost all respect for celebrities who supported the party for their selfish interest, rather than the greater good of the people.
She added that she bears no grudge against people who believe in APC’s mandate, but those who campaigned for the party for selfish reasons will never know peace.
The post reads,
“To the Nollywood stars, comedians and infact celebrities in general that decided to support APC because they have and will gain from the corruption and their government, I would have said “may your children and generation suffer for your heartlessness ” but those kids are innocent so I’ll leave them out of it.
May joy be far from you agents of darkness.
I have nothing against those that truly believe in the government of APC but you see those ones that are fully aware of everything these power hungry lunatics are doing wrong and are still standing by them, you don’t deserve anything good!!!
I’m letting my emotions take over what I choose to publicly say today because I’m almost frustrated.”
Nollywood actresses,Anita Joseph and Blessing Obasi, has reacted to claims that English-speaking actors were paid N3 million to campaign for a certain politician.
Yoruba actress, Basira Badia, made this claim on Sunday after her colleague, Adunni Ade alleged that some Yoruba actors and actresses were paid ‘peanut’ to campaign for Bola Tinubu.
Adunni, who went online to express her disappointment in these celebrities for selling their platform, alleged that they were paid the paltry sum of N90k to support Tinubu.
Badia felt offended by Adunni’s statement, and she went live on Instagram to lambaste and warn her to stop spewing trash.
She said, “My thing is going to Adunni Ade because I saw her video. Although she isn’t talking to me directly, she is talking to my platform, the group I belong to and I think I am part of the CGI group and I need to speak up because people have different narratives.”
She further claimed that English-speaking actors who attended Peter Obi’s stakeholder’s meeting were paid N3 million to campaign for him.
“Some English actors went for a dinner date and they gave them N3million”, she said.
Speaking further, she showered praises on MC Oluomo for taking care of her and her other colleagues without being tribalistic.

Popular Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo has reacted to claims that her colleague, Dayo Amusa, was throwing shade at her in her post.

She added that Tinubu is a good Godfather and king maker, but she doesn’t believe that he should be President at this time.
According to her, her opposition to Tinubu’s presidency is for his own good because he is “old” and should be resting, instead of stressing himself.
