A young Nigerian girl reportedly attempted to take her own life because her father flogged her over an undisclosed offense.

It was gathered that the girl consumed a poisonous substance to end it all after she was ‘disciplined’ by her father.

Fortunately, it was discovered on time that she had ingested poison and was given palm oil to drink, after which she started vomiting.

A video shared online captures the moment the aggrieved girl was throwing up some substance while sitting on the floor.

She was then put in a car and taken to the hospital for further treatment.

The incident has generated mixed reactions online as netizens air their reservations about the lady’s decision to commit suicide over physical punishment.

Former Nigerian senator, Dino Melaye has threatened to file a lawsuit against an anonymous blogger who insinuated that he’s having an affair with two Instagram influencers.

The controversial blogger caused a stir on Tuesday evening after posting a photo collage of the politician, Ashmusy and Nons Miraj, while hinting at exposing their escapades.

“I like fine fine pictures Sha HARD WORK UNDER DINO NO BE SMALL WORK OOI DEY COME”, the handler captioned the photo.

The post came shortly after media personality, Nedu Wazobia, revealed that he walked in on two popular Instagram celebrities having threesome with a rich man in a hotel in Abuja.

In a seeming attempt to divulge the identities of the said celebrities, the controversial blogger posted the photos, claiming that Ashmusy and Nons Miraj are the ladies and Dino was the rich man.

However, Ashmusy has since come out to deny being in a relationship with Dino, stating that they have never met.

Dino have also taken to his Instagram page to debunk the report, claiming that he doesn’t know Ashmusy and Nons Miraj. He also threatened to sue the anonymous blogger for peddling a false rumour against him.

Bose Ogulu, the mother of Nigerian superstar Burna Boy, has revealed why she insisted on adding her father’s first name to her surname.

Bose, who doubles as her son’s manager, made this revelation at a dinner at Freedom Park on Lagos Island on Monday, January 16, to commemorate media, art, and culture executive Jahman Anikulapo’s 60th birthday.

According to Bose, she insisted on adding her father’s first name to her surname because she didn’t want to be confused with another Idonije.

She attended the event with her husband, Samuel, and her father, Benson Idonije.

While introducing Bose, the co-host of the dinner, Pamela Udoka, who was a year ahead of Bose Ogulu in secondary school, begged the former’s husband to allow her to be referred to as Bose Benson-Idonije, explaining that Bose didn’t like being addressed as Bose Idonije but insisted on adding her father’s first name to her surname back in secondary school.

Later, Bose explained that she insisted people called her Bose Benson-Idonije before she got married because she didn’t want to be mistaken for another Idonije.

Instagram content creator, Amarachi Amusi, better known as Ashmusy, has responded to rumours that she is in a romantic relationship with politician Dino Melaye.

A popular Instagram blog recently alleged that Ashmusy and her colleague, Nons Miraj, are having an affair with Dino. The blogger also claimed that the ladies are being bankrolled by the former lawmaker.

Taking to Instagram, the controversial blogger shared a photo collage of Dino Melaye, Ashmusy, and Nons Miraj while hinting at exposing their escapades.

Mother of Delta man who claims to be Gov Sanwo-Olu’s biological son speaks (video)

Grace Moses, mother of the 27-year-old man who claims to be the biological son of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state, has spoken up.

It would be recalled that in December 2022, Emmanuel filed a lawsuit against the governor in a Delta State High Court, compelling him to acknowledge him as his son and grant him all the rights he duly deserve.

In his 19-paragraph statement, Emmanuel claimed the governor worked at a private company in Delta State from 1994 to 1995, and in the course of living and working in the state, had an amorous relationship with his mother which resulted in his birth. He then requested that a DNA test be done to prove his statement.

Emmanuel, who does “casual jobs” to provide for his wife and three kids, had told newsmen in December that he has not met his father since he was born.

“I am 100 per cent sure that I am the son of Governor Sanwo-Olu. I just want to see the man, Sir, as my father.”

After the first court hearing in December, Gov Sanwo-Olu’s legal counsel filed a mention to strike out the cause because the governor was not ready to wave his immunity. However, the case resumed for hearing on Monday, January 17.

The 47-year-old mother of Emmanuel, who spoke to newsmen after the court hearing, said she is certain that Sanwo-Olu is her son’s father.

“My message to Sanwo-Olu is, he should come and have his child. The baby is grown up. He is troubling me. If not for God, I would have been dead by now.

Because of the pregnancy I couldn’t go to school due to pressure from my mother who chased me out of the house because they had waited for Sanwo-Olu to no avail.

In my bid to abort the pregnancy, I drank “lime, but E no gree commot.

I started selling pig for people and got paid N150 which I used for the upkeep of myself and the baby. The baby is now grown and he’s threatening to kill me if I do not show him his father.”

The woman claimed that she met the Lagos State governor in 1995 when she was 19.

“Governor Sanwo-Olu was working with an oil company, Saipem, at Ubogo Community in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State at that time.

We began a relationship which resulted in pregnancy. The governor took me to a hospital in Agbarho Community, Ughelli North Local Government Area where he terminated the pregnancy.

After few days, Sanwo-Olu also had sex with me which resulted in another pregnancy. Since then, Sanwo-Olu abandoned me and travelled out of the state on the grounds that he was transferred to work in Maiduguri, Borno State. I was left to carry the pregnancy and delivered the baby all alone without the assistance of Sanwo-Olu and any member of his family. I told my son, Emanuel Sanwo-Olu that his father is not a cripple. Up till now, he has refused to grant me and his son, Emmanuel Sanwo-Olu audience.”

Recall that Mercy was exposed by a fake news buster for reducing her age from 32 to 29 after she posted her voters card online.

Even though she covered her date of birth and address, her VIN number was used to generate details of the card, exposing her real age as 32.

Following the revelation, Mercy received enormous heat on social media for lying about her age because of a reality show.

Nigerian activist and radio personality, Ahmed Isah, has sparked a debate online over his stance on men kneeling to propose to a woman.

Speaking in a video making rounds online, Ahmed Isah said it’s not African for a man to kneel before a woman in the name of proposing to her, and any man who does that is a “finished” man.

He added that kneeling to ask for a woman’s hand in marriage shows who will be in charge of the relationship and marriage.

A 99-year-old Kenyan man, Johana Maritim Butuk, has finally tied the nuptial knot with his girlfriend, Alice Jemeli, after 20 years of dating.

Butuk and his 40-year-old lover got married in a colourful wedding ceremony in Soy, Uasin Gishu County, on Saturday, January 14, 2023.

The couple exchanged their marriage vows at the nearby St. Mark’s Soybean Catholic Church, and locals who attended the ceremony described it as very colorful.

According to reports, Jemeli was only 20 years old when they first met in 2003, and Butuk was 69. Despite their age differences, their love blossomed, and they are now husband and wife.

The nonagenarian proposed to Jemeli in December 2022, and plans for a wedding ceremony started.

The Standard reports that it was Butuk’s first marriage since he has never dated a woman in the 99 years he has lived. However, Jemeli has three children from a previous relationship and is happy Butuk has accepted them.

Speaking in a chat with Standard, Batuk said that when he met Jemeli, he discovered that she was everything he wanted in life.

“I did not marry my entire life because I have always wanted peace of mind. I was also busy with menial jobs, and when I decided to marry all my friends were already grandfathers. But when I met my wife, I discovered that I found what I wanted in life. Alice talks less and helps navigate challenges in life.

“She was young when we first met, and I loved her because of her humility. I was first introduced to her by a woman called Tabasei, and ;we connected well despite the age differences. I am happy because my wife is now mature and responsible.” He said.

The wife on her part, said,

“I loved him when we first met in 2003. I had quit an abusive relationship, but when I met Mzee (Butuk) through a woman, I loved him because he was humble and listened to me. He was old, and I decided to be his helper because I knew that I would become a married woman like other women”.

She added that Butuk was homeless and unkempt when they first met, and she prides in changing his life. Butuk lived with one of his brothers, only identified as arap Kenei, who died in 2010.

“I have been late in many things, but today I am happy because I am a married man. I was initiated in 1943, way after my age mates had been circumcised. I am confident that the happiness in my marriage will make me live longer,” the happy groom continued.

A police investigation has revealed that security guards at Brixton Academy, the south London venue for Nigerian singer Asake’s concert, where two people died in a stampede, allegedly took bribes to let people in without tickets.

A security guard who worked on the night of the incident told police that the act had been going on since 2009 and that some of his colleagues had made £1,000 in bribes from people who came to concerts without tickets. He also accused the venue’s security firm of knowing about the illegal transactions.

“There were people taking money… Some staff made £1,000 cash,” a guard, who is employed by AP Security, told the BBC. “Our company knew what was going on and they knew the people who were doing it, and they did nothing about it,” he said.

The whistleblower guard, who went by the pseudonym Rohan, also stated that on the night of the fatal accident, there were only 110 security guards on duty, when there should have been 190.

He described the stampede which took place at Asake’s concert “like being in a car crash that’s been really awful – being crashed on and stamped on”. When a few people bribe their way in, Rohan alleged that things get “out of hand,” because word of the breach spreads and more people try their luck.

Rohan added;

“When you let a few people in, they would text their friends, and they’ll text their friends.
“And the bouncers started being greedy, and it got out of hand. And people wanted to come I anyway, without a ticket. You can train someone to the max, but when that happens in front of you, you actually stop… you freeze.”

Rohan claimed that bribes were discussed in staff meetings, but AP Security managers did not reprimand guards accused of allowing ticketless people in.

He also revealed that bribing guards for tickets was not limited to Brixton Academy, but occurred at a number of other venues.

A police chief told the BBC that a week before Asake’s concert, guards allowed people without tickets to enter a different event held at the same Brixton academy.

Nigerian lawyer, Bolanle Raheem, who was allegedly shot dead by a police officer on Christmas Day, has been laid to rest.

A funeral service was held in her honour at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Olive Tree Parish, in Ikoyi, Lagos State, on Tuesday, January 17.

A service of songs was held on Monday before her burial on Tuesday.

Recall that Bolanle Raheem, who was said to be pregnant with twins, was allegedly shot dead in the Ajiwe area of Lagos State on Christmas Day, December 25, 2022.

The suspect, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), was arraigned before a state high court sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Courthouse on Monday, January 16.

Vandi was arraigned before Justice Ibironke Harrison on a one-count charge of murder contrary to Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge. The arraignment, which was scheduled for 9 a.m., was initially delayed by the absence of the defence counsel in court.

Following his plea, the State Attorney General, Mr. Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN), who leads the prosecution team, told the court that the prosecution witness and the state are ready to commence trial.

The defence counsel, Adetokunbo Odutola, who did not oppose the application, prayed the court for an accelerated hearing. The prosecution’s witness, a police inspector, Mathew Ameh, thereby testified.

Ameh, in his testimony, told the court that his team, including the defendant, was deployed to Ajah, under the bridge, where they were conducting a stop and search operation.

He narrated to the court that his team tried to stop the deceased’s car, which was an unregistered vehicle, but the driver didn’t stop and the defendant fired at the car.

After he listened to the witness, Justice Harrison granted an order of accelerated hearing and adjourned the cross-examination of the witness and further trial to January 25 and 26, 2023.

A Nigerian woman, Uduak Victor, has taken to Facebook to narrate how her father sent her mother packing for not conceiving a male child.

According to her, her mother was thrown out of the house because she had five female children and no male child. Interestingly, years down the line, the female children are the ones taking care of him.

Uduak made this disclosure on Facebook while responding to a mother of four girls who sought the advise of netizens after her husband threatened to marry a second wife if she fails to give birth to a male child.

The fan had posed the question on Twitter after the “WAP” crooner posted stunning new photos of herself with her beautiful nails on display.

Bemused by how long the nails were, the inquisitive fan asked a rhetorical question about how the mother of two pleasures herself with them.

It’s barely 72 hours after the premiere of new reality TV show, Big Brother Titans, and it may seem as though there’s a brewing ship.

The BBTitans show premiered on Sunday, January 15, 2023, and saw the addition of twenty housemates, half of whom are of South African nationality and the other half are Nigerians.

Last night, two housemates, Yemi Cregx from Ekiti state, Nigeria, and Khosi from South Africa, began trending on social media after the two, who appear to believe in love at first sight, shared a romantic moment.

The pair met in the house after they were unveiled on Sunday night as housemates contesting for the $100,000 USD grand prize, and by the end of Monday night, they had already shared their first kiss.

Big Brother Titans housemate, Jaypee has averred that it’s impossible for adults in a confined space not to have sxx for three months.

The 26-year-old Nigerian nurse stated this during a chat with her fellow housemate, Blaqboi, while speaking on the backlash reality show stars face for engaging in sexual activities on Live TV.

She said she does not understand the agitation because it’s simply human nature for people living in the same space to have sex.

According to her, it is unrealistic for viewers of the show to expect the housemates to remain celibate for three months, especially if they were sexually active before the show.

She added that she salutes housemates in previous editions for not having sex immediately after the Saturday night parties despite their alcohol intake as alcohol makes one calm and horny.

‘Nasty things will happen eventually cos how can the viewers expect adults to stay in confined space for three months without some sexual action,’ she said in part.

A video of a pastor lashing out at his church members for giving N100 as an offering is making the rounds online.

In the video, the clergyman, who was enraged that his members gave such a meagre sum as an offering, said it was one of the reasons they have remained poor.

According to him, while guests come and give bountiful offerings to God and receive large offerings, his members will remain poor if they continue to give small offerings.

Speaking in Igbo, the enraged clergyman said,

“Shame to you that came to give God N100. That is why others who come here that give big money receive blessings while you as a member will remain poor because you give small money. You stand up majestically to come and give God N100 and those of you who also give N20.”

He also made reference to the fact that they buy fuel N350 a litre for the church’s generator for every service, yet church members drop small amounts as offering.

Nigerian disc jockey, Florence Otedola, better known as DJ Cuppy, has broken her silence after her boxer fiancé, Ryan Taylor, quit a boxing match in the first round.

Ryan had gone head-to-head with Brandon Scott, better known as Swarmz, at the OVO Arena Wembley in London, but he bailed out barely 30 seconds into the fight.

Controversial media personality, Daddy Freeze has told his followers that there is no blessing in giving their rich parents money.

Freeze, who took to his Instagram page to make this submission on Monday, January 18, said the blessing is only attached to giving to the poor and needy.

According to him, he has never in his entire existence given money to his mother because she has a successful career and money.

Freeze’s mother is Prof Smarinda Olarinda, the current Vice Chancellor of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti.

He however stated that it’s okay to give money to your parents if they are poor and struggling, but giving mother to rich parents is a waste.

He also recalled how a politician once dropped money for his mother while she was not home, and she drove down to his house to return his money.
