She wrote:

“TESTIMONY TIME !! 😊 …. While there are so many Wonders God have been doing in my life which will not make it to the gram but this particular testimony is a must share ! On the 9/10/2022 , I got into labour contractions around 7pm after a long day of dancing and merriments ‘Lol’ , immediately I called my brother @officialvicky9ice and told him it was time , we moved immediately , trying to get to Onitsha where my maternity is , on getting to Lagos park , see heavy gridlock , and with every passing 10 mins , my contractions intensified , we had no option than to turn and take 1 way , with the hope that any police man who saw my condition will understand , while I tried calling the DTO at that head bridge branch who is my friend , to help us clear Road , I called for for 15 times but he didn’t answer , but as luck would have it the 2 sets of police we met , were nice and wished me safe delivery , until we got to front of GUO , that U-turn where you join the other lane to head bridge , a bus was infront of us and was allowed to pass , just as we were about to join , a police man came out from nowhere , blocked us and insisted we should turn back and go join the traffic , the people in car with me , my sister @oparachinyeaka @officialvicky9ice , my younger brother , my cousin and my girl , everybody at this point was at this man’s mercy , begging and pleading that he let us pass explaining the reason why we took 1 way , this man said he didn’t care, at this point I was in the car in pains and frustrated , after a while I stepped down myself in the heat of everything that was going on begging him in my words ‘Oga Abeg have mercy , labour pains is dealing with me’ ‘Common go back’ he screamed at the top of his voice , then immediately I tried grabbing his hand as I was screaming now on top of my voice , this police man pushed me so hard that I landed right in front of my car , @officialvicky9ice seeing what happened rushed out of the car forgetting to put the car on park , by the time he realised the car was moving to me, he rushed back to park it , but out of tension , he matched acceleration instead of break , that’s how my own car wanted to crush me”

Young Lady narrates what she had to do for an immigration officer to stamp her passport to Dubai.

Following the updated requirements for Nigerians to travel to dubai, a young lady under 40 years old shared her experience with immigration officers while trying to dubai.

She took to twitter to call out the immigration “oga” that refused to stamp her passport and narrate how she had to pay an extra cost, despite having a visa that guaranteed her a stress free flight to Dubai.

Read her story below:

“Been wanting to tweet about this but I’ve been too lazy to come up with a write up. Right now, I don’t care about a catchy copy, I’m just here to expose another group of people that won’t allow this country move forward.
Are you under 40, traveling to Dubai?

THREAD:
After checking in, I moved to the immigration section just before the boarding gate, to get my biometrics done and my passport stamped. There’s just one cue but different booths, I’m just there pressing my phone and waiting in line till it’s my turn…This immigrations officer walks up to me and says, “move there”, he points at a counter on the opposite side of where I’m standing, there were 2 people before me on the cue, I didn’t really think about why he skipped them and came to me…I was just happy to get done and go and go and sit down, I was tired of the waka waka. This counter he moved me to, zero cue. I got to the counter, greeted the immigrations officer in the booth and handed him my passport. Next thing, “Hmm where are you traveling to?”. I responded, “Dubai sir”. He made a face while proceeding to scan my data page. “Hmm but are you up to 40?”, I smiled and answered “No sir, you’re with my passport, I’m not 40😊”. He looks at my passport and looks at me…“Ehn so how come you’re going to Dubai, Dubai is not accepting Nigerians under 40. Let me see your visa”. I handed him a printed copy of my visa, he looked at it and continued the process, “place your right four fingers on the scanner”, I did. After he’s done with the biometric process, he opens a page in my passport booklet and says, “this is where I’m supposed to stamp, but I can’t stamp it until my oga says so, go there and meet him” he points to the “oga” and then faces oga’s direction and says to him “oga, Dubai”. I took my passport and walked towards oga, there’s a young guy and a young babe with him that seemed to be begging him, I’m confused. When I got there, I greeted him “Good evening sir, I was asked to meet you”, He sized me up and said “Ehen where are you going?” I said “Dubai”. “Ehn to do what?” Lifting his shoulder like oga true true 😩.“I’m going to relax”. This man starts telling me that Dubai doesn’t want Nigerians under 40. I said “but I have a visa”, he said he won’t stamp the passport, what do I want to do? Guys, When I say I was confused 🙁I face the lady and the guy that were with him before me, “what’s this about”, they whispered, “you know these people, they just want us to settle them”. My head became hot, settle them as how? I have a visa!!! Abi what’s really going on here🤔.The lady and the guy moved to oga and started talking to him (looked like they were negotiating), I was hearing “something something hundred dollars”, in my head, I’m laughing like “huh? what is this really?”. I’m now pacing and pressing my phone, some more people joined us…It was then I noticed all the people they had brought to this aisle were young and going to Dubai🤦🏾‍♀️ it was all a plan to use fear to exploit us. The couple got their passport stamped after paying, oga turned to me and said “it’s in your hands how much do you have?” I also clicked that the 2 people before me on the cue earlier were older, that’s why they were skipped ugh. Realizing what these people were doing made me so upset. I looked at him and said “sir, this money you want to collect from me now, is that what will make Dubai accept me?” He told me my mouth was sharp and I should stand aside so he could attend to those who were “ready”. Everyone else seemed to be begging them so I was pretty much alone in that fight, I succumbed and said “I have 5k”. He laughed at me and looked away, then I said “I have 10”. “That your 10k is too small oh, add something”. He said a whole lot more about how someone like me going to Dubai should have money but I’m just trying to wrap this up. He called the first Immigrations officer that took me out the cue and said “she wants to transfer 10k”. When I tell you this was all planned, down to the account number. It wasn’t theirs, This was the name on the account they gave me (photo inserted). After I had paid, they stamped my passport. Isn’t this crazy??? That someone with a visa had to pay to get their passport stamped?🤦🏾‍♀️We can start the change we seek, as citizens, it’s important that we know our rights and enforce them. If you have to be in Dubai this period (under 40), I paid so you don’t have to. This is the man (referred to as oga in this thread) @nigimmigration

I hope Bimbo’s death is an encouragement to save yourself – Ex-beauty queen, Iheoma Nnadi speaks out against abusive marriages

Former beauty queen, Iheoma Emenike, has advised women to walk away from abusive marriages.

Iheoma stated this on Saturday October 15, while reacting to the death of IVD wife, Bimbo, due to alleged domestic violence.

Iheoma said Bimbo’s death should be an encouragement for women in abusive relationships to save themselves from the same fate.

Her words below –

I can’t believe it truly endd in this though it was so glaring it would eventually end in death.

I pray for your family and especially kids Bimbo.

May God wrap you around his arms and comfort you for the years of pain, unease, battering and sorrow.

May you have eternal peace now. You are loved.

Is it not better to be in a place where you are loved and cared for than to be in a place where you are constantly beaten, battered of insulted?

This self love thing is not being talked about enough. SELFLOVE will save you from taking a lot of ill treatment.

Learn to understand and know when your partner does not love you anymore. Learn to know whent to take your L in peace and move on for true happiness to reign again.

I hope this will be a learning point for people who are currently in this situation and have refused to leave!

Have refused to stand up and say enough is enough.. have refused to love themselves first.

I hope this is an encouragement and a push for you to finally stand up and save yourself.

God loves you, you kids love you and your friends and family need you alive.

“If you don’t deliberately act dumb to your husband, you may have problems in your marriage” – Twitter Counsellor write.

A popular faceless account on Twitter known as Jon d doe has advised women on how best to keep their marriage problem-free and maintain a successful marriage.

He stated that a woman can show how smart she is in the presence of her kids and during conversations with the general public but never with her husband. He is of the opinion that men will not marry a woman who acts like she is smarter than her husband.

“As a wife, if you don’t deliberately act “dumb” to your husband, you may have problems in your marriage. But he will love it when you show your smartness in the public & to your kids. Learn these things, he wouldn’t have married you if he thought you were “smarter”. End.” he tweeted.

Jon posted this picture to further prove his point:

Some netizens seem to agree with this and shared some comments. Read them here:

Freddie wrote “Yh. Making your husband feel you are smarter, would make him start seeing you as his elder sister. And due to the competitive nature/ego of a man, he would in turn wants to “fight back” to retain his dignity. And that will make the home hell for both of you to live in.”

Sunday wrote “Some women would begin to act smart and even smarter than the husband especially when they started feeling they have arrived making little money or change. This I think or felt is also one of the causes of problems in marriages.”

Vee wrote “Most men want to brag with the smartness of their wives to their kids & outsiders But within, they want to feel like they are piloting the affairs 100%. For a ship not to sink, only 1 person has to be captain. When a captain gives an order, obey even if you know better.”

“Soso Soberokon did not send anyone to kill me” — Singer Harrysong makes U-turn (video)

Harrysong makes

Nigerian singer, Harrison Tare Okiri, known professionally as Harrysong, has recanted his earlier claims that music executive, Soso Soberekon, sent some persons to kill him.

This comes after he was arrested by the police after Soso filed a petition to the Inspector General of Police accusing him of defamation and threat to life.

Recall that the drama started after Harrysong in a recent interview alleged that Soso is not his friend as many believe as he sent people to kill him in Port Harcourt.

Soso did not take the claim lightly and slammed Harrysong with a suit demanding he retracts the statement and pay N500M as compensation. He also threatened to drag him to court if he fails to do so.

He was thereafter picked up by the police and taken into their custody for questioning. Following his failure to provide evidence of his claim, he was forced to apologize to Soso before he was released.

The 41-year-old singer has now retracted his allegations against Soso. Speaking in a video shared online, Harrysong said Soso did not send anyone to kill him as he claimed earlier.

He however stated that the assassination attempt is true but Soso was not the culprit.

Popular Ibadan baker, @thecakechancery has shared how being a mischievous kid saved her from having to go on unnecessary errands for her teachers.

She took to twitter to explain how she got the worst type of ewedu available for a teacher who sent her to the market during school hours. This tiny smart decision, saved her from having to run errands for her teacher because they thought she did not know how to shop.

She tweeted:

“I remember when my teacher in sec Sch pulled me out of class to go and buy Ewedu for her at Apata Market 🤦‍♀️,I made sure the Ewedu I bought was a really bad one.. though she hit my head with the Ewedu when I got back and she was like “I thought they said u know how to buy things”
PS : my aunt I was living with then was also a teacher in the same school and she was the one that told her colleagues I’m good at buying foodstuff.. I bought a terribly bad ewedu for her on purpose so she won’t have the audacity to pull me out of class AGAIN to send on errands
She was actually right, I knew how to buy foodstuff at that young age because my aunt used to send me to Ogunpa to buy all the things needed for her store where she sold foodstuff back then ..
Igi Ewedu doesn’t kill but it will stop a whole lot of futuristic nonsense/errands 🤣🤣

Seven ways the ASUU strikes have impacted this generation

Frustrated Student
Frustrated Student

Nigerians in Nigeria have been through a lot in recent years. The nation is currently immersed in what is essentially an economic crisis, and it shows no signs of letting up. Insecurity is high, floods have basically submerged some regions and a food crisis is looming. But amidst this, the fact that Nigerian students have been at home for 8 whole months is ludicrous. In a society with dwindling economic growth and limited opportunities, education is key to elevating people and building wealth. However, while the world was celebrating Valentine’s Day, the Academic Staff Union of Universities aka ASUU gifted Nigerian students with a strike that has only just been called off today, October 14, 2022.

The 16th strike since 1999, and second longest ASUU strike ever, the negative impact of the strikes cannot be overemphasized. To paint a clear picture of how bad it is, see 7 ways ASUU strikes have messed things up for us as a generation, and as a nation.

  • Affects the Mental Health of Students

Tertiary education in Nigeria, unlike some parts of the world, is a full-time gig. To survive daily in a Nigerian institution, a student must have the mental strength of a fighter. Most students seek solace in the fixed amount of time they have to study and the reward associated with graduating. However, ASUU strikes pile more pressure on these students because their life is in limbo as they can’t make any concrete plan on what to do due to the forced free time. Many students have missed life-changing opportunities because of these strikes, which have a toll on their mental health. Uncertainty about the resumption date/when ASUU is going on the next strike has caused many students panic, anxiety, and stress.

  • Brain Drain

This generation continues to lose its brightest mind to developed societies that can provide them with the necessary amenities to thrive and excel. Due to the constant striking of ASUU, Nigerians that can afford to study outside the country have moved out, leading to a massive brain drain. The significant impact of this brain drain is that current and future innovators who can help solve some of the raging problems affecting the country have been forced out by the lazy nature of those that are supposed to lead them. Young Nigerians have had to seek greener pastures elsewhere, with some risking their lives in the process. Also, they contribute to their host nation’s development while their country dives into a shithole.

  • Reducing Interest in Education

The endless ASUU strike has discouraged students from pursuing education wholeheartedly. They would instead pursue other means to earn a livelihood or see education as a part-time gig. As a generation known for raising its voice on any social issue that affects them, one can attribute the waning interest in education to the economic condition of the country as perceived by this generation, which can be seen in how they barely protested the ASUU strike.

  • Crime

There is a nexus between increased crimes like internet fraud and ASUU strikes. The increased free time some young people get due to the closure of schools is the perfect opportunity to be recruited/join cyber-crime syndicates. This doesn’t mean ASUU is solely responsible for this issue; however, many of these individuals may have sought a different path if they stayed in school.

  • Waste of resources

Every ASUU strike means a waste of resources for students already on a slim budget. Rents, feeding allowances, and time go to waste because of these strikes, and the students and their providers have to bear the loss.

  • Reduced Quality of Education

Schools must find a way to complete the current academic session after each strike. This means a rush semester/session, which ultimately reduces the quality of education the students get. Because students have been away for a long time, this rushed return affects the quality of education they get and consequently impacts their future. In a globalized world with endless opportunities, young Nigerians’ quality of education is putting them on the back foot and making it harder to compete with global talents.

  • Missed Opportunities

ASUU strikes mean extra year(s), which means windows of opportunities are closing to young Nigerians. Delayed graduation means some individuals cannot access specific internships or job applications with age or time limits that would have impacted their lives profoundly. On average, a course that should take four years might take Nigerian students an extra 12 to 24 months to compete. These delayed graduations are leading to missed opportunities for young Nigerians, making it hard to make a living and, in many cases, further pushing them down the poverty line.

These are not the only ways ASUU has negatively impacted us, but you get the picture. As students return to school, we must collectively ensure it is a thing of the past. We must organize (think of a body like ASUU, but one that favors students and families), we must pressurize the government to prioritize education, and we must most importantly, vote right.

Out of anger, he started raining curses on her and asked if he was not trying enough to give her #50k monthly allowance despite his financial condition.

However, the lady, who was not having it at all, fired back at him for the question and asked if he knows the amount of money she spends on her hair monthly, insinuating that #50k is chicken change compared to her monthly expenses.

She also queried her boyfriend for expecting her to turn down the whooping sum of #200k she was offered by the other man. Watch the video here.

“Osinachi thought her abusive husband would change” – Neighbour tells court

Grace Nnaji, a neighbour of late gospel singer, Osinachi, on Thursday told a Federal Capital Territory Court in Abuja that the singer, on many occasions, begged her not to report her husband, Peter Nwachukwu’s abuse, as she believed he would change.

Nnaji, a tailor and close friend of the deceased singer, told the court that she met the singer when her husband approached her to make a dress for her.

Nnaji, while giving her testimony led by the prosecution counsel, Aderonke Imana, said that she became close to the deceased as her shop in Aco Estate, Airport Road, Lugbe, and residence were close to the Nwachukwu’s house.

She said the deceased confided in her that her husband, Peter Nwachukwu, was always hitting her at the slightest provocation.

“Ekwueme, as I used to call her, came to my shop one day with injuries on her daughter’s head and she told me that the defendant pushed her and the child against the wall. The daughter had fever at the same time and I was the one that gave Ekwueme money to buy drugs from the pharmacy to give her daughter.

“Another time, she came and showed me injuries on her back and told me that Peter kicked her on her back and she slammed into the wall with her chest.

One day she ran to my house at about 5 am and said that the previous night she locked her door and he kicked it open with his leg and proceeded to hit her on her chest. She fell to the floor and remained there crying until she slept off”, Nnaji told the court.

She further said that the defendant was in the habit of locking his wife out whenever she went to church and she would be at the gate knocking for hours.

Nnaji claimed at times it will take the intervention of neighbours before she would be allowed in and that she slept in her house for two days on one of the occasions he refused to allow her into the house.

Nnaji alleged that Mr. Nwachukwu threatened that he was going to destroy Osinachi’s reputation and kill her brother and that was the reason she was afraid to tell anyone about her ordeal.

The neigbour said when she told Osinachi to report the abuse to the police, her family, church and also a human rights radio, she refused.

“When I told her that I was going to report to the church, she begged me not to, saying that her husband will change”, she said

She recounted a time she sneaked into the Nwachuku’s house to help Osinachi, who was seriously ill, clean the house to avoid her husband getting angry and complaining about an untidy one.

Peter Nwachukwu is standing trial on a 23-count culpable homicide and domestic abuse charge. He has been accused of being the cause of the late gospel singer’s death.

Decomposed body of missing South African woman found hidden in ceiling of her boyfriend’s home

A South African man, identified as Thabo Silas Tsotets, has been declared wanted by Mpumalanga police after the badly decomposed body of his girlfriend, Nosipho Caroline Mthombeni, was found in the ceiling of his house.

Mthombeni’s decomposed body was found when police responded to a complaint about a foul odour from the house located in Minaar Street at Balfour.

Speaking to TimesLIVE this week, Mthombeni’s grieving aunt Nomvula Maya said her daughter, Phumzile had confronted the man weeks after Nosipho’s disappearance.

“He should stop making things hard for her family and just hand over her body so they can bury her. But he insisted he knew nothing about her whereabouts, despite a stench in the house. ” She said

After the suspect, Tsotets, was confronted by the deceased’s cousin, he disappeared, and only three days later, on October 5, 2022, Mpumalanga police made the harrowing discovery.

On arrival, they found a lady who indicated that she had moved into the house about a month earlier to stay with the father of her child.

“Police began checking the house to determine where the odour was coming from. At first, the ceiling trapdoor did not show clearly what was inside. However, the members proceeded to the next room and broke the ceiling, [discovering] a human body wrapped with some clothes.

“Emergency services personnel were summoned to the scene, but the body was in such a decomposed state that the gender could not be determined at that time. However, later, through the shoes that the victim was wearing as well as the nail polish and other features, it was determined that it was a female. A murder case [was opened].” Brig Selvy Mohlala, police spokesperson, told TimesLIVE.

The boyfriend, Thabo Silas Tsotets, is still at large.

Mthombeni’s heartbroken family has opened up about the events leading up to the shocking discovery.

Maya said questions were raised about her whereabouts several days before the body was found.

Mthombeni’s friends had reached out to Maya’s daughter Phumzile when they failed to make contact with the missing woman.

“Her friends asked, ‘When last did you speak to Nosipho?’ My daughter and I told them that [Nosipho] wasn’t someone we spoke to frequently. Her friends then revealed that it’s been two months since they’ve been able to reach her on WhatsApp, via cellphone, or Facebook.

“We didn’t take it seriously … Later, [another family member] called my daughter and told her she too got a call from [the same] friends and also asked about Nosipho’s whereabouts”. Maya said.

Phumzile and a relative went to the man’s house to look for her, but he said Nosipho had left for Secunda to work.

He allegedly disappeared a day after this confrontation, claiming he was “going to make payments on some accounts”.

Maya returned to the house twice to look for Mthombeni but was met by a woman who had moved in.

The bereaved aunt said that while there, she noticed what appeared to be a blood stain on the carpet but was told it was caused by children.

She became suspicious and decided to speak to Mthombeni’s mother, who confirmed she last saw her daughter on August 26 when she dropped off some vegetables on her way to church.

Mthombeni’s family and the woman in the house alerted police to the situation.

A devastated Maya described the family’s pain of finding out that the bad smell she encountered on her visits emanated from a decomposed body.

“We weren’t allowed to see the body … [We didn’t] find a body but a ghost,” she said.
