Congratulations are in order for former CNN correspondent, Isha Sesay, as she’s set to welcome her first child after two failed IVFs.
The 46-year-old British journalist of Sierra Leonean descent announced the good news in an emotional article published on TODAY.
In the article, she opened up about the events that influenced her decision to have a child on her own.
She said, “If you’d told the 16-year-old me that at 46, I’d be divorced, single and having a baby on my own — by choice! — I’d have shuddered and firmly said ‘no!’
“Back then, I had very definite ideas about the future course my personal life would take, and it didn’t look like this. I imagined something way more straightforward and dare I say it, conventional.”
She said after her marriage ended in a divorce and her mother suffered a catastrophic stroke, it dawned on her that she would greatly regret not having a child
“A brief marriage to a kind man didn’t result in children, and then the year I turned 40, my mum had a catastrophic stroke, leaving me no emotional space to contemplate anything other than caring for her,” she wrote.
“Six years went by and a few months ago I found myself in a subpar relationship with a man who took about 12 hours to reply to all my texts, among other red flags. It was then, in the aftermath of our inevitable breakup, that it hit me: Not having a child would be the greatest regret of my life. And with my biological clock ticking down, if I was waiting for the right man to come along before I did it, well, I might just find myself out of time.
“So, I decided to take control of my life and settle on the bravest and scariest decision I have ever made: to have a baby on my own.
“I had many long conversations with myself and tried to get to grips with questions about what it would mean to not have the support of a partner, both emotionally and financially.
“How would I handle society’s questions? What would being a single parent mean for my child? I still don’t have all the answers, but I decided to take the leap because I refuse to let fear, social conventions or judgment hold me back from seeking this joy.”
She also narrated the challenging medical procedure she went through before getting pregnant, including deciding on a sperm donor and two failed IVFs.
Isha said, “My first IVF attempt was unsuccessful, and I cried for days afterward, before I could find the strength to start the process all over again a few months later
“But with each passing day, I grew more fearful and anxious about my chances of being able to successfully carry a child. Those feelings only intensified when my doctor decided to halt my second attempt mid-cycle because my body was responding negatively to the medication.
With two failed attempts to my name, I approached my third embryo transfer with relatively low expectations. In the two weeks that followed the procedure, my mind raced uncontrollably and I battled the urge to take an early pregnancy test.
“The day before I was scheduled to return to the clinic, I finally caved in and bought a home test because I couldn’t bear a repeat of the hours-long wait before the clinic called with the results. The next morning I got up long before the sun was up, anxiously headed to my bathroom and opened the box. The minutes ticked by and I cycled through a myriad of emotions. When the word ‘pregnant’ flashed up on the tiny screen, I screamed and fell to my knees before bursting into tears.”
The mother-to-be said she is both excited and terrified about the pregnancy, but she has zero regrets.

Halima Hassan, the mother of late reality star, Rico Swavey, has spoken for the first time about the incidents surrounding his tragic death.
Recall that the former Big Brother Naija housemate, Rico, died on October 13 from the injuries he sustained following a road accident in the Lekki/Ajah area of Lagos.
The bereaved mother, while speaking on Thursday during the unveiling of a foundation in the name of her son, who died at age 29, pleaded with hospitals to attend to patients first without considering money and also urged the government to fix bad roads in the country to avoid future accidents.
“I wasn’t happy when I saw him. No one would want to bury their children while they are still here. Unfortunately it happened to me and fortunately, I will use this to appeal to the government, the hospitals. All I’m doing will not bring Rico back. It’s just for the future.
“For the hospitals, any accident, trauma accidents like Rico’s, they should put money aside and treat the person first. I don’t wish this on anybody. And they should try to do the roads, the roads are terrible. Even if it’s the street lights, whatever they can do, to help the young ones. We all have young people moving here and there, hustling for their lives. We don’t want anything to happen to them.” She said.

Tems co-wrote Rihanna’s new song “Lift Me Up”, a soundtrack for the movie, ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.’ The track is Rihanna’s comeback single after a six-year break from the music industry.
Taking to her Instagram page to officially announce her contribution to the song, Tems shared the cover design and said she is blessed to have written the song in honour of late singer, Chadwick Boseman.

On Wednesday, July 20, Queen Bee finally unveiled the tracklist for her album “Renaissance”, which is scheduled for release on June 29.

The singer, in a video currently trending on social media, averred that a lot of Nigerians have been blinded by religion and not thinking.
He spoke about how members of a certain church in Nigeria contributed to buying a bulletproof car for their pastor.
He said sadly, the clergyman was attacked by unknown gunmen while in the bulletproof car, but he managed to escape, and the church members are testifying that their pastor was saved by a miracle.
Portable urged them to think and reiterated that the bulletproof car saved the pastor and that no miracle happened.
“Pastor no won go heaven again comot your eyes for church money na pastor get am, members donate bullet proof car for the pastor, the pastor was attacked by unknown gun men, members celebrate the incident as a miracle, bulletproof save the pastor not a miracle.

Recall that unknown gunmen attacked the clergyman’s convoy along Warake road in Auchi on Friday, October 21.
The assailants opened fire at them and killed seven persons – four policemen, one driver and a lady. Fortunately for the clergyman, he and his family managed to escape unhurt.

A lady has narrated how she and her sisters were sexually abused by their father for years.
The lady, identified as Aziza Kabibi revealed how her father started raping her and beating her at the tender age of 12 and she’d wished she had not been born.
Aziza revealed that her mother knew about the abuse but didn’t do anything to help. According to her, she was not allowed to go to school and was isolated from her extended family so she won’t reveal her father’s misdeeds to anyone. She revealed that her father told her the sexual abuse was “ordained by God”.
At some point, she wanted to run away from home but her brother and sisters stopped her. She said she realised that if she left home, her dad will begin abusing her sisters, so she stayed. Her father promised that if she didn’t complain, he won’t touch her sisters, so she stopped complaining.
However, she later discovered that her father was raping her sisters too. At 15, she got pregnant with her father’s child.
She eventually got pregnant 5 times for her father and all the children, who are also her siblings were all delivered by her father at home.
In all, her father birthed six children in total from his daughters. In a different post, she shared a screenshot of her father’s court trial after he was finally exposed.
The woman’s father is an African-American man named Aswad Ayinde. He is a Grammy award-winning music director, famous for directing the music video for the Fugees’ hit song “Killing Me Softly”.

A Lagos State High Court sitting in Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) on Thursday, October 27, heard how Chidinma Ojukwu transferred N5 million from Usifo Ataga’s account to another account.
It’s alleged that Chidimma carried out the act on June 15, 2021, the day Utaga was murdered. The ninth prosecution witness in the trial, DSP Olusegun Bamidele, disclosed this while testifying in the ongoing trial of Ojukwu.
The 300-level Mass Communication undergraduate of the University of Lagos is standing trial before Justice Yetunde Adesanya for the alleged murder of the Chief Executive Officer of Super TV.
Chidinma is also charged with stealing and forgery alongside her sister, Chioma Egbuchu and one Adedapo Quadri.
Abubakar Mohammed, the security guard of the shortlet service apartment had during his evidence before the court on November 16, 2021, said that Chidinma left the apartment on the night of Tuesday, June 15, 2021 and never came back.
He also told the court that it was on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, that the dead body of Ataga was discovered.
At the resumed hearing of the case on Thursday October 27, the Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions (DDPP), Mrs Adenike Oluwafemi, told the court that the matter was for continuation of trial.
Oluwafemi asked for exhibit P11 which is the Bank statement of Ataga and asked the witness to tell the court why he had the bank statements of the deceased.
The witness said that during the course of investigation and in a bid to know what could have motivated the first defendant to kill the deceased and since they recorded Ataga’a bank, they wrote Bank asking for the bank statement of the deceased and a copy was given to them.
He said that from a close look at the copies of the bank statements coupled with the fact that the phones of the deceased was already in the possession of the first defendant and have been in control of the account she purchased airtime.
Bamidele said that, on June 15, 2021, Ojukwu, the first defendant, used the deceased’s phone to transfer five million Naira from his account to another bank.
“On June 16, 2021, four transactions of N20,000 was made from the deceased’s account; on June 17, another withdrawal of N20,000 was made five times and the remark was: transfer between customers.
“On the same June 16, N50,000 was transferred to Nkechi Mogbo, N11,200 transferred to Caprical Capital.
On the same June 16, another N50,000 was transferred from Ataga’s account to Mogbo and N93,000 transferred from Ataga’s GTBank to his Access bank account,” he testified.
He added that N110,000.75kobo was debited from the deceased’s account on June 18, 2021.
“On June 19, 2021, a transfer of N20,000 was made four times, another transfer of N20,000 was made five times and it was through the USSD code,” Bamidele said.
The witness also told the court that the police wrote to the bank to get Ataga’s statement of account.
He said that on June 13, 2021, there was an internet transfer of N10,000 to Ojukwu, adding that N105,000 was transferred to her on same day for payment of the apartment where Ataga died.
He said that the payment was to Nkechi Mogbo, the owner of the apartment.
“On that same June 13, there was a N13,000 purchase transaction at Ango Villa, 14,200 transaction for purchase at Dwine Bar Global. On the same June 13, there was also a transfer of N20,399.
“On June 14, 2021, there was N21,000 transfer from Ataga’s account to Chidinma’s account and another transfer of N15,000 to Chidinma.
“There was a N5,000 transaction that was made on June 14 and paid to Adiba online choppy,” he said.
When prosecution sought that written statements of the defendant should be admitted in evidence, Ojukwu’s counsel, Mr Onwuka Egwu, objected to the admissibility.
He said that Ojukwu did not make the statements voluntarily. He said that the statements were obtained by oppression, inducement, intimidation and under duress.
The counsel urged the court to test the veracity of the voluntariness of the statements. The second defendant’s counsel, Mr Babatunde Busari, did not object to the admissibility.
Egbuchu’s counsel, Miss M. A. Abia-Bassey also did not object. Thus, the prosecution counsel prayed the court to conduct trial within trial on that.
The judge adjourned the case to November 8, 2022, for trial within trial.

Former Big Brother Naija reality TV star, Nina Ivy has remarried.
It should be recalled that Nina held her traditional wedding in 2020 to a Nigerian man named Anthony. She then relocated to the US and welcomed a son with her husband.
Well, in a new development, Nina’s marriage to Anthony has ended and the brand influencer has now married an African- American man identified as Chris Miller.
The mother of one has also changed her name on social media to reflect her new surname, “Miller”.
Nina and Chris reportedly met in 2021 and dated for seven months before they eventually tied the knot privately in a court in the United States of America, according to ThisDay.
Their wedding reportedly held in April of 2022.
A little while back, Nina reprimanded her two-year-old son, Denzel, for bullying his classmate on his first day at school.
The Atlanta-based mother of one received a minor incident report from her son’s school and it was reported that he pulled his classmate’s hair so hard that she fell to the ground.
Following his offence, his teacher had a heart-to-heart conversation with him and told him to stop using brutal force on his friends at school.
After receiving the report, Nina took to her Instagram page to share a picture of the report and asked her fellow moms how to discipline her son.

A Nigerian man has melted the hearts of many people on social media with a lovely video he posted to acknowledge his close friend for standing by him when he was sick.
In the trending clip, the friend stayed by his side when he was battling an undisclosed ailment in the hospital, took care of him, and gave him reasons to smile despite his health condition.
He also showed the beautiful and fun moments they shared together after he recovered from the illness, and appreciated his friend for being a real one.

In other news, a Nigerian man has been thrown into mourning after losing his two children, a boy and a girl, within three years.
The bereaved father, Zeeyauhaq Nuhu, in a social media post mourning his children’s tragic passing, said his daughter died in 2019, and his son died on Wednesday, October 26, 2022.
“I lose All My Children”, he wrote on Facebook.
Ossai Success Ovie, the Special Assistant on Media to the Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, has said brides should stop kneeling down to feed their husband at their wedding.
The media aide, in a post shared on his Facebook page, said the practice which represents a woman’s submission to her husband should be scrapped because it’s fake.
According to him, after the wedding ceremony, women don’t replicate the act by kneeling down to serve their husband’s meal at home.
He pointed out that back in the days, women used to kneel down to serve their husband his meal but that is not the case anymore, so the practice should be ruled out from weddings.

Big Brother Naija season 7 star, Esther Chioma Ndubueze, better known as Chomzy, has signed out of the Imo State University (IMSU).
The reality star, who revealed she spent six years for a four-year programme, took to social media today, October 27, to celebrate finally bagging a degree.
The 22-year-old reality TV show star is said to have studied political science at the institution.
In a series of posts she shared on her Instagram page, Chomzy congratulated herself on successfully completing the programme against all odds.

The 5-year old marriage of singer, Oritsefemi and his wife, Nabila Fash has crashed as she files a petition for a divorce.
Nabila, who made this disclosure in an interview with media personality, Daddy Freeze, said she made the decision to end her marriage to the singer after he welcomed a child with another woman while they were still married and trying to have their own child.
Nabila, a top PR professional who claimed that her marriage to the singer affected her mentally and changed her personality, said he subjected her to emotional, physical, and verbal abuse in the marriage.
She accused Oritsefemi of incessant infidelity and recalled how she once created a group for all the women he was cheating with and had them meet themselves.
Nabila said Oritsefemi was expecting a son with one of the women during the period he came online to ask the public to help beg her when she moved out of their home because he was physically abusive towards her in 2020.
Recall that in October 2020, the singer took to his social media page to tender an apology to his wife after they got separated over domestic violence.

It became important for my sanity for my mental health to take a decision, a decision that wasn’t easy, a decision that made me to be here today”.
She added that Oritsefemi has refused to sign the divorce papers because he believes they will reconcile.

Nigerian actor, Stanley Nweze has opined that most women are always broke because they spend all their money on beauty products.
He stated this in a post shared on his Insta-story while explaining why a lot of women rarely have money.
According to him, instead of investing their income so it can yield returns, they spend it all on looking good and maintaining their beauty.
“Most ladies are broke because they spend all their money maintaining beauty instead of investing, same reason why they are so fine and you are attracted to them,” he wrote.
A while back, Stanley Nweze took to social media to address women who post half naked photos and videos online.
Speaking in a video he shared on his Instagram page, Stanley said no right-thinking man will marry such women and would rather find a responsible woman who dresses decently to marry.
He said most men will cheer them on and drop love and fire emojis in their comment section, but none of them will marry them because they are exposing their nudity online.
