A Nigerian man has reportedly dumped his fiancée for demanding an expensive wedding despite not wanting to contribute towards the ceremony.
According to @Okenwaokodu on Twitter, the groom-to-be tried to reason with his 29-year-old fiancée but she insisted on having a big wedding with 20 bridesmaids also known as ‘asoebi‘ ladies.
The groom-to-be has now reportedly called off the wedding after feeling overwhelmed by his fiancée’s demands.
He tweeted,
“Nna ehh, some ladies are just something else, she’s 29yrs yet want a very loud wedding but won’t bring a dime, your man told you there’s life after wedding but No, she wants 20 asoebi girls and bills on the man.
Man woke up overwhelmed and called off the wedding 😂.”
The tweet has stirred different reactions from netizens as some opine that he could have reached a compromise with his wife-to-be instead of calling off the wedding, while others averred that he made the right decision.
A Nigerian Twitter user, @princejalil11, has narrated how he made a police officer apologize to him after he assaulted and tried to imprison him falsely.
@princejalil11, A young Nigerian lawyer said he was driving when he was accosted by police officers who were in a white unregistered danfo bus. According to him, they told him to park as they wanted to search him, and he obliged.
He disclosed that after they went through his car documents and also found nothing from the search they conducted, they asked him to follow them to their station. On getting to the station they tried to “falsely imprison” him at their station by asking him to pay a gate fee before being allowed to go.
The layer noted that while he asked that the officers should let him go since he hadn’t committed any crime, a police officer came up to him and slapped him more than four times.
He said he turned and told the policeman that he will kneel down, get slapped and will apologize to him and it all happened.
Narrating the incident, he wrote,
“A white unregistered danfo bus blocked me as i was driving and three police men came out. they said i should park that they want to search me and i asked why me out of everyone driving? that upset them and they entered the car and told me to drive to the police station
On getting there , they searched my car and found nothing. they asked for my license and documents which i presented to them. this took over 30 minutes btw. i was already getting irritated and asked them what i’m still being held for
The policeman who brought me to the station told me i could go. on my way out another policeman stopped me and said i can’t leave without paying gatefee. i said what do you mean by gatefee? i’ve been searched and permitted to leave
He told me to go and look for the men who brought me (they had suddenly disappeared , i know it was a plan) i couldn’t see them and asked to leave and told him that him keeping me there against my will when i have committed no crime is false imprisonment.
Then more policemen came and told me i cannot leave. i kept trying to say my part then one of them came and started slapping me. guy slapped me more than 4 times. i then told him that today he will kneel down , get slapped and he will apologize to me. which all happened.”
He also shared a video of the police officer begging him after all he had ‘prophesied’ eventually happened.
Popular singer, Inetimi Timaya Odon better known as Timaya, has finally broken his silence after being accused of hitting a lady with his car and running away.
It was earlier reported that the victim’s sister took to social media to accuse the singer of knocking down her sister and fleeing the scene. She disclosed that the singer hit her sister’s car and when she came down to confront him, he drove off and in the process, injured her.
She disclosed that her sister was hospitalized after the incident and shared videos of her bloodied face and knee to back her claim. She also accused Timaya of blocking her on Instagram when she confronted him on the platform.

A Nigerian man, identified as Baptist Amah, has taken to Facebook to share some of the purported health benefits of eating frog meat.

Popular Kannywood actress, Fati Usman, better known as Fati Slow (or Fati Slow-Motion), has said that she is tired of being asked when she will settle down.
In a recent interview with BBC Hausa, Fati noted that while she feels death and marriage are all about one’s destiny, she still believes God has not forgotten her.
“The question which I’m most tired of, and which people often use against me, is when I’m getting married. And I’ve always thought that death and marriage are all about one’s destiny. I believe that God hasn’t forgotten about me. If God wills that I’ll get married, I will. And if He wills that I’ll return to him unmarried, nobody can marry me off. That’s how God works.” she said.

The Nigerian Police Force has reacted to the case of a couple who reportedly died while having sex in a car along Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

The Police have now identified the man as a married Ogun contractor named Hakeem Oladimeji, who killed his girlfriend before committing suicide in his car.
It was gathered that he struck his girlfriend’s head with a stick during an argument at the apartment he rented for her in Bariga, Lagos, on Monday Feb. 28, then carried her corpse in his car to his house in Ogun state where he dropped a suicide note for his wife.
He then drove himself and his deceased girlfriend to a location close to NASFAT Islamic Centre along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, where he committed suicide by ingesting insecticide.
It is said that they had been there for days before the stench oozing from the car caught the attention of locals.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident on Wednesday, March 2.
“The two did not die while having sex. What happened was that the girl in question happened to be a girlfriend to that man. He rented an apartment for her somewhere in Lagos. He went there to visit her. We don’t know what transpired between them, but we learnt he hit the woman on the head and she slumped.
“He carried the lifeless body of the woman in his vehicle. People in that neighbourhood ran to Ilaje police station in Bariga to report. But he drove off, straight to his house at Orimerunmu. He dropped a suicide note, informing his wife that he had killed somebody. He told his wife not to bother looking for him, asking her to take care of the children. Then he left the house.
“He drove and parked near NASFAT area and he committed suicide there. We saw a container of Sniper in the vehicle, which suggested that he drank Sniper (an insecticide). He wound up the glasses and died in the vehicle.
Edda Wakesho, a 21-year-old Kenyan woman who filmed herself defiling a 4-year-old boy and posted it online, has been sentenced to life in prison.
The 21-year-old, who was a house help in Kiembeni Estate, Mombasa, filmed herself engaging in the act with a minor and later shared it on a pornographic site to make money.
She was slammed with a life sentence for defiling the boy and a further 10 years for filming the act on Wednesday, March 2, by the Senior Resident Magistrate Florence Macharia.
According to the investigating officer, the accused is part of a child pornography syndicate that collaborates with a rogue house to abuse children and film the acts.
The woman, in her defence, said that she innocently accepted a friend request from Facebook and was introduced to a page where people post nude photos and videos. She said that she was recruited into the syndicate with the promise of being paid lots of money.
The minor’s mother got a video recording of the heinous deed via a foreign cellphone number, according to the court.

A young Nigerian man recently confronted some armed police officers for allegedly trying to extort him in the Iyana-Ipaja area of Lagos state.
A Video from the scene is currently making the rounds online, showing the moment the argument got heated and they got physical.
As the police attempted to take the man’s phone, things became violent. As a result, he pushed one of the armed police officers down.

Legendary Nigerian singer, 2Baba, has reacted after his fans expressed displeasure over the way his name appeared on the poster for a show set to take place in Las Vegas later in the year.
Self-styled African giant, Burna Boy, who is headlining the show had his name appear in bold font while he (2Baba) and other Nigerian artists billed to perform at the show at had their names at the bottom of the poster.
The poster stirred reactions from fans of 2Baba, with many of them noting that their favorite shouldn’t be playing second fiddle to Burna Boy. They queried why the legendary singer was placed with other artists in smaller font at the bottom while Burna Boy’s name stood out on the poster.

The Federal Government has approved the request by the United States of America, for embattled Commander of the Police Intelligence Response Team, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari, to be extradited over the $1.1million wire fr@ud perpetrated by Abass Ramon aka Hushpuppi and 4 others
This was made known by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN) on Thursday when he filed an application before the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja for Kyari’s extradition.
The application marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/249/2022 was filed under the Extradition Act.The AGF said the application followed a request by the Diplomatic Representative of the U.S. Embassy in Abuja. The request is “for the surrender of Abba Alhaji Kyari, who is a subject in a superseding three counts indictment”
The AGF said he was satisfied that the offence in respect of which Kyari’s surrender is not political nor is it trivial.
In his words ;
Kyari, “if surrendered, will not be prejudiced at his trial and will not be p#nished, detained or restricted in his personal liberty, by reason of his race, nationality or political opinions”. The AGF said having regard to all the circumstances in which the offence was committed, it will not be unjust or oppressive, or be too severe a p#n!shment, to surrender him.
Kyari made news headlines on April 21, 2021 after a jury filed an indictment against the Nigerian police chief with the approval of the U.S. District Court and demanded Kyari stand trial for conspiracy to commit wire fr@ud, money laundering and identity theft. Consequently, the US Embassy requested for Kyari’s extradition.
A Man identified as Aminu Bello, has been arrested by Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, for allegedly raping his 13-year-old daughter, Hafsat in Kebbi state.4
Parading the 40-year-old suspect, the Kebbi state commander Musa Bala disclosed that, the arrest was effected following a tip off from members of the public who reported the incestuous affair “we parade before you a 40-year-old father Aminu Bello who allegedly r@ped his 13-year-old daughter Hafsat in Badariya area Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi state.”
The command’s spokesperson, Akeem Adeyemi, said investigation is ongoing on the matter after which the suspect will be arraigned before the court of law.
Two suspected serial pickpockets in Lagos have been apprehended by men of the Lagos State Taskforce.
The suspects identified as, Sodiq Olagoke, 25, and Lucas Patrick, 26 were both arrested in the early hours of Tuesday, March 1.
The Taskforce officers who made the arrest said the suspects, who were roaming the area in their Danfo commercial bus, looked suspicious. The driver and the two male passengers seemed uneasy after driving past the officers.
Confirming the arrest, the Lagos State Taskforce Chairman, CSP Shola Jejeloye, said that the suspects disclosed they make 80,000 Naira daily from their operations, using commercial vehicle (Danfo) as a guise.

It was gathered that the incident happened at Marian in Calabar, Cross River state, on Wednesday.
According to viral reports, Taskforce officials stopped the cab driver asking him to pay N50 naira ticket fee, but he refused and they allegedly assaulted him for it.

The police officer who was seen in a viral video carrying a female VIP’s food tray at an event in Ilorin, Kwara state has been identified and summoned to the police headquarters.
The Police Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Muyiwa Adejobi, made this disclosure in a chat with Punch. According to him, the police officer has been identified and summoned to Abuja.
He added that the Force Headquarters has warned its operatives attached to Very Important Persons all over the country to stop serving purposes other than protecting prominent individuals from security threats, and the viral video is now being probed.
“He (the policeman) has been identified. He is coming to Abuja to meet us. We’ll ask question from him and take necessary action. We need to discourage such a thing because it is embarrassing the image of the Force and we can’t continue to be experiencing that kind of a thing because it is highly unprofessional.” He said.
The video which found its way to the internet got people talking on social media.
In the 18-seconds video, a woman presumably of high class is seen receiving greetings from another woman while her security detail (a police officer in uniform) held a plate of food and followed closely behind.
The video elicited reactions from social media users who felt it was disrespectful to the entire police force for the woman to treat the officer like a common ‘houseboy’. Watch video here.
