Nigerian filmmaker, Kemi Adetiba has disclosed that some years back she prayed to receive an Oscar award in 5 years and now she has gotten a different kind of Oscar.

This comes after the filmmaker who directed blockbuster movies such as Wedding Party and King of Boys, got engaged to music producer, Oscar Heman-Ackah.

While appreciating her well-wishers for the love shown to her and her partner in a post she shared on her Instagram page, Kemi Adetiba said she should have been more specific with the kind of Oscar she wanted.

She wrote,

“Three years ago, when I asked God for an ‘OSCAR’ in 5 years, I guess I should have been more specific 😝

Thank you everyone for the overwhelming love and support shown to US in the last (almost) 24 hours. Neither of our phones have been able to keep a charge because of the various expressions of love you all have shown in person, over the phone or online.

American rapper, singer and actress, Eve Jihan Cooper, has welcomed her first child.

Taking to her Instagram page on Thursday, February 10, 2022, the 43-year-old revealed she welcomed a baby boy on February 1, 2022.

She also unveiled her baby’s name as ‘Wild Wolf Fife Alexander Somers Cooper’.

While this is Eve’s first child with her husband Maximillion Cooper, he has 4 other kids from his previous relationship.

When they got married in 2014, Eve became stepmother to Maximillion’s kids.

Sharing a photo of her baby she captioned it,

A Nigerian woman has taken to Twitter to share the thoughtful gesture her friend did for her amid the ongoing fuel scarcity in the country.

According to @Mhisoby on Twitter, her friend delivered a gallon of petrol to her house in a bid to cushion the effect of the fuel crisis in Nigeria.

She shared a photo of the gallon and the handwritten note her friend attached to it on the popular micro-blogging platform, and disclosed that she was moved to tears by the act.

In the note, the friend stated she has been there for her on numerous occasion so she thought to reciprocate her kindness with the petrol.

She wrote

“I couldn’t get a job in the UK until I removed my native name from my CV” – Nigerian man, Inein Victor

Inein Victor Garrick, a 34-year-old Nigerian living in the United Kingdom, has disclosed that securing a job in the UK was difficult owing to his native name.

According to him, he struggled to get any job interviews after graduating from South Wales University because people constantly mispronounced his first name.

Inien, who currently works as a Safety Inspector at Transport for Wales, said he began using his middle name Victor after struggling to get any job offers years after graduating.

Speaking with Mirror UK, he said,

“I never seemed to get past the first application stages even though on paper, I had all the necessary requirements for at least an interview. In addition, the few calls I had, the recruiters had an issue in saying my first name correctly.

“I started using Victor’s as first name due to the barriers I faced whilst applying to jobs after university. With comments like your name is difficult or hard to pronounce. I always felt I was on the backfoot and sent some unconscious bias. The moment I changed to my middle name Victor, on my CV, within a week, I had multiple calls for interviews.”

That was always the start of the conversation, oh your name is difficult and then asking where I’m from. But when I got to the interview stage, I’d answer when they call out my name and I’d be asked again, almost like ‘are you sure that’s you?”

He, however, suddenly realized that he was “hiding a part of himself” and decided to return to using his first name, Inein.

“I think it really hit me. Last year, I almost felt like I hid a part of myself all those years. It wasn’t shameful per se but I wasn’t my true self. People would hear Victor and assume I was British or English and I wasn’t highlighting my true identity. I’m proud of where I’m from and I think I hid behind Victor. This opened that door to talk about Nigeria and my cultural heritage, it’s a fantastic conversation starter.” He added.

Bashir who was frustrated by performance of the app, called out the bank and asked them to fix their “super useless” app.

He tweeted, “I don’t know whether it’s only happening to me, but Zenith Bank App has been super useless since after upgrading it, I have been trying to use the App since morning and still not successful. @ZenithBank fix your App.”

A Nigerian man has taken to Twitter to celebrate a newborn baby whose family members claim was saying “Allah instead of crying.”

The man identified as @am_saleeem on Twitter, disclosed that he spotted a video of the child on WhatsApp and was in awe of the incident. According to him, he couldn’t breath after seeing the video as he was in extreme shock.

In the video, the child could be heard cooing but it’s unclear if he was saying “Allah” like his family members claim.

Sharing the video on Twitter, he wrote,

Nollywood actor, Alesh Sanni, has appealed to club and lounge owners in Nigeria to stop selling fake drinks at outrageous prices.

In a post he shared on his Instagram page, the actor warned them to stop selling fake drinks to their clients and indirectly killing them with poison.

He also advised club-goers to always check the authencity of the drinks by scanning the barcodes on them with their phones before consuming.

The man with Twitter handle @Kilishisuya, said the date didn’t go well, as the girl became infuriated and stated that he was embarrassing her after he stood up to unbuckle his belt and jean button to eat after their meal arrived.

He further revealed that the girl stormed off afterwards.

Gospel singer, Kierra Sheard-Kelly recently revealed that she doesn’t allow her female friends to spend the night at her home so that her husband isn’t tempted to have sex with them.

The 34-year-old who tied the knot with her man, Jordan Kelly in December 2020, explained that whenever any of her friends come around she books them a hotel to sleep in.

100L OAU student dies after falling into septic tank in her hostel (Video)

A 100-level student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), identified as Heritage Ajibola, has died after accidentally falling into the septic tank in her hostel on Wednesday February 9.

It was gathered that Heritage, who was studying Linguistics and African Studies in the University, was packing the clothes she had washed earlier when she slipped into the septic tank in her hostel where students reportedly pay over N200,000 for a room.

The University’s Students’ Union president, Ogunperi Taofeek Olalekan, has confirmed the tragic incident in a statement he released on Wednesday.

The statement reads,

“Heritage Ajibola, the Linguistics and African Languages student who accidentally fell into the soakaway this afternoon at Bver Hostel, Maintenance Hostels, is confirmed dead!

This incident is highly unfortunate. The Union mourns her. May her soul rest in peace. May God give her family, friends and course mates the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

It must be noted that Heritage’s death was avoidable if the soakaway system was properly constructed and covered. It is saddening that this has happened despite the huge amounts of money paid by students for rent. The Management of the Hostel must answer for the death of Heritage. The Union is immediately demanding justice for Heritage, with a view to forestalling a possible reoccurrence of this.

The University’s Vice Chancellor has reportedly visited the scene of the tragic incident and promised to ensure that necessary actions are taken.

The man identified as Kelechi Igbokwe on Facebook, gave this advice while recounting a conversation with a man who berated him for not forcing his wife to cook.

Igbokwe had initially taken to the platform to narrate how he went out to eat with his wife because they were both tired at the end of the day, and he wouldn’t want his wife to go through the stress of cooking after a long day.

A 17-year-old girl has cried out for help after a man she met online took her on a supposed shopping spree but ended up fleeing with an iPhone 11 pro from a phone shop in Ikeja, Lagos state.

It was gathered that the teenage girl had met the young man identified as CVC Nationz online, and promised to change her phone. He took her to a phone shop in Lagos and stylishly absconded with a phone from the shop, leaving the young girl to settle the bill of over N300,000.

Narrating the incident, the victim’s sister wrote,

“This guy, he’s a thief. He took my junior sister to shop in Ikeja under the pretense they’re dating and wants to buy her a phone. He chose the phone and showed her if she wants it. After she said she wants it, this guy ran away with the phone. Now my sister is still at the police station, pls help us. 350k phone”.

I met my girlfriend late 2018, I just finished NYSC, and good for me the law firm I served in retained me but my probation extended through to the end of 2018. During this period, my girl friend was earning 150% higher than my salary, and she knew. (I became aware of hers later)

2020, she got a two-year master scholarship to study in Europe and she was definitely not planning to come back to Nigeria. She encouraged me to apply for masters abroad too which I did and got several admissions without scholarship. When the news of her scholarship came,

I was happy for her, she applied for her visa and was waiting for her interview date and that was when I thought Omo, I needed to take the relationship to another level, so I asked her ‘would it be a good idea we get married before you leave so I could visit whenever we want ?’

She told me later all she had to do to ensure that we leave together even without my knowledge, in her words, ‘I don’t know what will happen to us if she leave’s me behind’ one of the most risky things she did was tell the EU that gave the scholarship that she couldn’t leave without her husband, because we newly wedded and EU obeyed her and ensured that we traveled together same day. I’m in Europe today because of a kind woman (my wife @IAmDebbyBrown ) that not only believed in me and loved me but did all she could possibly do to show it. Nollywood has been thrown into mourning following the loss of one of its veteran actors.

Romanus Amuta, popularly known for playing Natty in ‘New Masquerade’, the popular Nigerian sitcom, has d!ed. He was 79 years old.

News Agency of Nigeria reports that, the deceased’s first son, Chukwuma Amuta, confirmed the sad news in a telephone interview in Enugu.

“Yes! My father d!ed this morning in Lagos after a protracted illness, He is survived by his wife, Cordelia and six children,” he said.

An indigene of Ukana in Udi LGA of Enugu state, the actor started his career in the media landscape and worked with Daily Times newspaper before delving into the movie industry. He came into the limelight after featuring in the ‘New Masquerade’ — which was one of the most popular TV series in the 80s.

Amuta is survived by Cordelia, his wife, and six children.

In other news, Yomi Lowo, husband of brand influencer, Cynthia Lowo popularly known as Cy4Luv, has tendered a public apology to her for calling her out on social media.

Cynthia had taken to Snapchat to share some items she wanted for her birthday and asked anyone who wants to buy her the gifts to contact her personal shopper.

Her husband was displeased with her actions and slammed her for not “being content with his pocket”. He also called her a “fucking disgrace of a wife”, amongst other insults.

A Nigerian twitter user has explained why Nigerian singer, Oxlade isn’t being dragged on the Nigerian social space after his sex videos leaked.

On Tuesday, February 8, a video of the ‘Ojuju crooner’ vigorously making love with an unidentified lady surfaced online.

However, when one would have thought the singer would be heavily criticized, Nigerians are hailing his skills.

Recall that a couple of male students of the University of Lagos were captured on camera chanting the name of the singer as though he is a hero of some sort.

With so much energy and passion, a bunch of male hostelites, some of them shirtless, were seen jumping, cheering and chanting the singer’s name obviously after having a look at the singer’s leaked bedmatic session.

Reacting to people’s reaction to the scandal, model, Morey Faith, stated that the hypocrisy and double standards of Nigerians are alarming.

According to her, Tiwa Savage was dragged to filth over a similar scandal months ago, while the same people who dragged the female singer are now applauding Oxlade.

Well, a Twitter user identified as @drpenking averred that Tiwa was dragged because people expected more from her as mother.

He stressed the fact that Oxlade is a 24-year-old wild boy while Tiwa is a 42-year-old mother.

“Nigerians are comparing people’s reactions to Tiwa Savage’s s@x tape and reactions to Oxlade ‘s. The fact is, Oxlade is still a 24 year old, wild BOY who smokes weed. Tiwa savage is a 42 year old MOTHER . People expected her to do better because of that singular status if not for anything for the mental health of her son in the next few years.

S@x tape on it’s own is no crime. People have different sexual fantasies and as long as it doesn’t break any laws, you are home and dry. However you have to always factor in the persons you have in your life. And how your actions will affect their mental health . STOP CONVERTING EVERYTHING TO GENDER WAR. Popular media personality and entrepreneur, Toke Makinwa has taken to social media to tackle people who record themselves while crying.

The lifestyle vlogger in a video she shared on her Instagram page stated that she is tired of seeing people come online to shed tears because it looks manipulative.

She went on to ask such people if they are mentally stable or if they don’t have friends they can pour out their emotions to, instead of crying before people that don’t really care about them online.

According to her, people should stop this act and learn to cry in their homes.

Sharing the video, the 37-year-old wrote,

“Pls let’s leave this behavior in the past. Why will you on your camera, go live, press record and start crying 😭 😂😂😂😂😂
Not trying to be mean but it is a cry for attention. Do you not have real friends? If you are crying why do you record it? 🙄”

Award-winning Nigerian filmmaker, Kemi Adetiba, has announced her engagement to music executive, Oscar Heman-Ackah.

Taking to her Instagram page moments ago to share photos and video from the romantic proposal, Kemi revealed she got engaged to her beau on the 28th of January, 2022 in Ghana.

Announcing the engagement, she wrote,

“I’ve taken some time to privately enjoy this moment and bask in the celebration of it all. However, we’re beginning to understand it might be next to impossible keeping a lid on this for much longer.
After thinking long and hard, we ultimately would love for this announcement to be on our own terms and molded in our own true narrative. Plus, you all here have followed my journey from the start and lovingly root for me – Now if that isn’t FAMILY, I don’t know what is 🙂

So dear FAMILY, on the 28th of January in Ghana, delivered as a beautiful suprise and expression of love, and in the presence of some close friends and family, @oscarhemanackah asked that we spend the rest of our lives together, and I wholeheartedly said YES… without a single reservation.
I would like to add here, that every single friend or member of my family that conspired in this suprise proposal, should just be on the look out for my retaliation… Cos it’ll be merciless!! 😏

Oscar and I shall share only as much of us as we’re comfortable with. No more.. No less. We hope you will respect this, and bear with us in this regard.

Holy Bible reportedly spared as fire razed cars in Onitsha, Anambra state (video)

A Bible was reportedly spared in a fire incident that occurred in Onitsha, Anambra state which destroyed and burnt cars beyond recognition.

A video of the rather unusual incident was shared online and has garnered mixed reactions on social media. In the video, a man lifted the Holy Bible which was slightly darkened by the smoke caused by the fire.

Although the cause of the fire was not disclosed, reports have it that the bible was in one of the cars while it was burning.

People at the scene watched in awe at the alleged incident, while others exclaimed and praised God.
