Otunba Christopher Alao-Akala, a former Governor of Oyo State, has passed away at age 71.
Akala was the governor of the state between 2007 and 2011. According to DailyTrust. the politician, who had been b#ttling terminal ailment for a while, passed away in his Ogbomoso country home, on Wednesday morning, January 12.
A top source in the All Progressives Congress (APC) who confirmed his d#ath, told the publication that, “It is true that Oga is d#ad. He d!ed in the early hours of Wednesday in his room in Ogbomoso. He was full of life last night. In fact, I head he was playing with his children before he went to bed. We are in a mourning mood now.”

Although, it’s unclear if Toke who has kept her love life off social media, was just goofing around with the post, she showered praises on her ‘focused King’ and said she loves his energy.

The Plateau State Police Command have reportedly arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of Jennifer Anthony.
It can be recalled that the University of Jos student was found dead with her eyes plucked out and vital body parts removed in a hotel in Plateau.
It was reported that the 300 level student of the Department of Special Education and Rehabilitation Science of the University, was last seen with her boyfriend before she was found gruesomely murdered.

Human rights activist, Comrade Israel Joe, has shared the story of how a University of Port Harcourt student he used to counsel, died after struggling with thoughts of her death.
According to Comrade Joe, the young model identified as Vera Grand, died in a car accident in October 2021.
In the lengthy post he shared on Facebook, Joe disclosed that when he met Vera for the first time in 2019 at Effurun, Delta State, she told him that she constantly thinks she is going to die.
Sadly, she succumbed to the thought and passed away just days after her birthday.

I met this beautiful lady towards the end of 2019. She walked close to and called loudly “Comrade Joe” as I stood close to the customer care upstairs at GT Bank Airport Road Effurun.

She struggled with that thought until we met according to what she told me. I gave her a book about the mind authored by Napoleon Hills. We communicated at least twice monthly. I remembered the last time I saw Vera about three weeks to her birthday in October last year 2021
She met me at Shell Golf Club Ogunu, Warri where I went to play table tennis and I interrogated her about her school, friends and family.
She told me being a student of UNIPORT must keep one busy but we do not talk often anymore as that thinking is trying to return. I just told her to forgive my being extremely busy with societal matters but promised to keep checking on her.
I told Vera that the mind is a battle field and whatever sunk into someone’s subconscious if not filtered and checked crystalizes into reality. “Never be scared of anything Vera. Nothing happens to one unless one looses the battle of the mind. Are you a chicken that fears anything and everything? You had better be a lion that turns from nothing dear.”
I again told her to pray against such thoughts. I woke up and discovered that faithful day 8th October barely three months ago was her birthday. I called and also sent wishes to her. We chatted on WhatsApp same day. The last word she told me was an assurance of loyalty. “Whatever Happens I still remain your loyal fan Mr. Activist”. I told her to ensure she sends my cake across and we laughed over it.
I was worried when I tried to reach Vera in December knowing that we haven’t spoken after her birthday. Activities upon activities, her number was switch off and I became nervous only to contact her friend this week who told me Vera d.i.e.d few days after her birthday. She had a motor a.c.c.i.d.e.n.t and couldn’t survived it on the spot.
This is a huge shock to me. You finally lost the battle but I know you have entered a golden place of peace and rest from the disturbances of negative voices. You were a rare breed and special friend indeed my dear. You were full of fun and I trust your beautiful soul find eternal rest. Your friends and family will miss you. Continue to rest dearest.”
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has arraigned controversial Nigerian billionaire businessman, Mompha, before Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court, sitting in Ikeja, Lagos.
Mompha was arrested by Operatives of the EFCC, Lagos state command, on Monday, January 10, for allegedly laundering funds obtained through unlawful activities and retention of alleged proceeds of crime, and arraigned in court on Thursday morning, January 12.
According to EFCC, Mompha is currently standing trial alongside his company, Ismalob Global Investment Limited, on an amended 22-count charge bordering on cyber fraud and money laundering to the tune of N32.9 billion.

Meanwhile, in August 2020 Mompha sued EFCC for N5million over his arrest.
He asked the Federal High Court in Lagos to compel the anti-graft agency to pay him N5m for what he termed his “unlawful re-arrest and detention.”

Young Nigerian disc jockey, Michelle Abesin, better known as DJ Michelle, has taken to social media to lament the constant harassment and alleged threats she has been receiving since she survived drowning.

A Nigerian lady who went viral some days back for driving an imaginary steering wheel, has received a new car as gift.

A video that was shared online captures the moment officials of the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, stormed the apartment of Instagram comedian DeGeneral’s in the middle of the night and in course of this, assaulting him and his friends.
The alleged unauthorized invasions of the officials has stirred lots of reactions on social media. In the video, the skit maker and his friends are seen being assaulted by the officials of the agency who were angry with his decision to film them live.
One of the officials is heard raising their voice to tell the skit maker that he doesn’t have the right to record them – he then counters the official’s statement saying he has every right to exercise his fundamental human rights.

A 21-year-old kidnapper, identified as Auwal Abdulrasheed, who got arrested by the Kano State Police command has recounted how he abducted, killed a 13-year-old female hawker and demanded N1m ransom from her family after burying her body in a shallow grave.
Spokesman of the command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the development in a statement on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, where he revealed that the suspect was arrested on January 9.
The PPRO revealed that on July 21, 2021, the case of a missing 13-year- old girl named Zuwaira was reported to the police.
“On the 21/06/2021 at about 1000hrs, a report was received from a resident of Tofa Town, Tofa LGA, Kano State that his daughter, Zuwaira, ‘f’, 13 years old, was kidnapped and a ransom of One Million Naira (N1,000,000.00) was demanded and later settled at Four Hundred Thousand Naira (N400,000.00). While negotiating for the ransom, the body of the victim was discovered in an uncompleted building, slaughtered and buried in a shallow grave,” the statement reads.
“On receipt of the ugly report, scene was visited, the body was exhumed, examined and confirmed dead by a Medical Doctor and released to the relatives for burial according to Islamic rites.
“The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi immediately raised and instructed a team of Operation Puff Adder led by SP Shehu Dahiru to arrest the culprits.
“The Puff Adder team swung into action. Sustained efforts and prolonged follow-up led to the arrest of one Auwalu Abdulrashid, alias Lauje, ‘m’, 21 years old, of Tofa Town, Tofa LGA, Kano State at Dan marke village, Dambatta LGA, Kano State on the 09/01/2022, i.e. 202 days after the incident.
“On preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed that, he singlehandedly kidnapped the victim, deceived and took her to an uncompleted building located at Tofa Town, Tofa LGA, Kano State, where he strangled her with her Hijab used knife to slaughtered her throat and buried her in a shallow grave, and then demanded a ransom of One Million Naira (N1,000,000.00) and later settled at Four Hundred Thousand Naira (N400,000.00)”
“The suspect further confessed that, on the 07/06/2021, he kidnapped a younger brother of the victim, one Muttaka, ‘m’, 3 years old at Tofa Town, Tofa LGA, Kano State, demanded a ransom of Two Million Naira (N2,000,000.00), later settled and collected One Hundred Thousand Naira (100,000.00) and abandoned the child at Dawanau Special Primary School, Dawakin Tofa LGA, Kano State.”
The spokesperson then disclosed that the police investigations into the case have been concluded, adding that the suspect will soon be charged to court for prosecution.

In a rather interesting turn of events, Chioma took to her Instagram story moments ago to share a cryptic post about not wanting to be used to trend.
According to her, there’s more to life than seeking validation from the outside world.
She wrote, “There’s so much more to life than the attention/validation that you seek so much for from the outside world.. but it’s not me that’s going to be used to trend.. everybody rest ijn”
Meanwhile, Tochi has also deleted his engagement post from his Instagram page however he is yet to comment on the status of their relationship.
Popular Nigerian singer, Kizz Daniel, has disclosed that his father was the first person he told when he lost his virginity at age 21.
The father of two made this disclosure in an interview on The Will Downtown Magazine’s current edition, where he spoke about parenting and his relationship with his father.
According to him, his father is his best friend, so rather than tell his friends about losing his virginity he called him first to give him the details.
“My dad is my best friend. I used the word ‘is’ because he’s still in my heart after him, then my brother. So I was really close to my dad but not so much with my mum.
As a normal dude, the day I lost my virginity, I should have called my friends but it was my dad. I lost my virginity at the age of 21 —as a kid, I was a bookworm and a huge nerd.
I studied Water Engineering and graduated with a 4.32 GPA —so I’m narrating everything to him; from the beginning, all the way to the end and he laughed from start to finish. It was a very weird conversation but that just goes to show how deep the bond went.” He said.
Speaking on fatherhood, Kizz Daniel noted that becoming a parent has changed his way of seeing things and it has made him cautious of his decisions.

“I’m a father and I’m quite particular about energy not just around me but around everyone close to my kids and the mother of my kids. It made me more responsible.”
A Nigerian man has taken to Twitter to narrate how his 28-year-old flatmate dumped a lady he met and wooed on the street.
According to @viccetti on Twitter, his friend invited the lady over to his house and during their conversation discovered that she is only 19.
He said his friend deleted the lady’s phone number immediately she left because of the age difference. According to @vicetti, any lady below the age of 19 is still a minor to him and his friend.
He wrote,
“My flatmate saw this girl on the street couple of days ago, he wooed her and got her number. She came to the house yesterday, we found out she was 19years. After hosting her, she left and then he deleted her number.
