A Nigerian man, who claims to have been in the 21-storey building in Ikoyi, Lagos state, hours before it collapsed on Monday, November 1, has narrated how his rejection for being a Muslim saved his life.
The man said he was in the building on that fateful day to interview for a role with the developer of the building, Femi Osibona.
He however claimed that Mr Femi who was one of the casualties in the unfortunate incident rejected him for being a Muslim.
According to him, Mr Femi said he can’t work with a Muslim and made jokes about it in the presence of his colleagues and other workers.
He said he was downtrodden after the interview and was on his way home when his friend called him to inquire about where he was and relayed the information about the building collapse to him.

Woman sent out of a restaurant in Abuja for wearing hijab
A woman, identified as Azeezat Yishawu, has called out a restaurant in Gwarimpa, Abuja, for sending her out because she was wearing hijab.
She took to Twitter to narrate the incident that occured on Thursday, November 4.
According to her, the security personnel said she should leave because they serve alcoholic beverage in the cafe and alcohol is prohibited in Islam.
However, the person who had invited her to the cafe said she was sent out because her outfit was making the other customers uncomfortable due to the fact that there was a recent communal clash with shite in the community.
Her words,
“Good evening twitter fam. I was asked to leave a restaurant @CrushCafe_Abj at Gwarinpa because of the way I dressed. The security person in grey top and black trousers. Had searched my bag earlier before I went in.
I had used the rest home soon after I went in, sat down ordered for mock tail and waited to my acquaintance who had suggested the place. A few minutes after, the same young man who had searched my bag. Approached me to tell I wasn’t allowed sit.
He said People who dressed the way I do weren’t allowed here. I asked if this was a club and he said no! That because they sell alcohol. I do not understand this. One bit.
I was later informed by the person who had invited me, that my dressing was offending some of the customers. He said that there was a recent communal clash with shite in the community and my dressing was representative of that. I felt very embarrassed and confused.
I could have been asked to sit somewhere else, and told what the problem was, rather than saying my dressing was not welcomed. I had to take my things and wait on the road side for my acquaintance to come get me.”
The lady said the CEO of the restaurant, who is a Muslim, has reached out to her to apologize for the way she was treated in his cafe.
The CEO has also tendered an apology on social media, noting that the staff responsible for the mistreatment would be dealt with.
Man crushed to death while attempting to ‘collect’ money from truck driver in Kwara
A young man identified as Usman Salakani, has lost his life after he was crushed by a heavy-duty truck in Ilorin, Kwara state.
It was alleged that the deceased was attempting to collect money from the truck driver, when his foot accidentally slipped off from the truck tyres causing him to fall and crushed to death.
Spokesperson of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kwara Command, Babawale Afolabi, who confirmed the incident, revealed that the unfortunate incident happened on Thursday morning at the popular Post Office roundabout in the state.
“The incident occurred at around 1015 hours on Thursday when the victim was trying to collect money from the truck’s driver when his foot slipped off and was subsequently fell down by the truck tyres and crushed to death by the rear tyre of the truck”. He said.
A newspaper vendor at the Post Office junction, Mr Yusuf Idris, who was present at the accident scene said, the victim had been discussing politics with him prior to the accident.
“The deceased ran after a moving trailer but, unfortunately, his hands slipped and fell under the truck tyres,” the vendor said.
TV presenter apologizes after being called out over a comment she claimed BBNaija’s Queen made about Whitemoney
A TV Presenter, Kachi Offiah, has apologized after being called out over an erroneous comment she claimed former BBNaija housemate, Queen, said about her co-reality star, Whitemoney.
During an interview with Whitemoney after he won the show, Kachi had said Queen referred to him as ‘Daddy’ and said she was very happy about him winning the show because he would share the prize money with her.
However, Whitemoney found it hard to believe that Queen would say such a thing and stated that it was most likely Nini that made the statement.
Reacting to the interview, Queen took to her Instastory to reprimand the TV presenter, saying she does not like people lying against her or trying to pin things on her.
The Akwa-born beauty queen also claimed she was dragged and called names by netizens over the false comment.

Nigerian Radio Personality, N6 has visited the site of the collapsed Ikoyi building and he revealed that it is more complicated than what he initially thought.

Comedian Taaooma fires back after she was called out for visiting VP Yemi Osinbajo with other Nigerian comedians
Popular Nigerian skit maker, Greene-Apaokagi Maryam, known better as Taaooma, has reacted after she was lambasted online for paying a visit to the Nigerian Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has urged the youths not to be distracted by ‘yahoo boys’ because they will end up in jail.
He advised the youths to make efforts to access various programmes set up by the Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria to support young entrepreneurs and other Nigerians.
The vice-president said this at the first convocation lecture of Kola Daisi University, in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Wednesday, November 3, the VP gave examples of many young Nigerians who have made it without cutting corners and urged the graduands and the youth to embrace integrity and character in order to excel in life.

Popular Socialite and businessman, Obinna Iyiegbu aka Obi Cubana, has regained his freedom from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission after three nights of interrogation.
He was arrested on November 1 over allegations of money laundering and tax fraud.
During his stay with the anti-graft agency, he was interrogated several times over his alleged involvement in money laundering and tax fraud.
He regained his freedom this evening, November 4.
It was not clear what the businessman finally did to meet the conditions of his release.

Ann Iwelue, a sister to a man, Samuel Iwelue, trapped in the debris from the Ikoyi building collapse has taken to her Instagram page to share the last video he made while entering the structure on Monday, November 1.
In the video, Samuel looked so happy as he drove into the compound. He jokingly spoke about the heat in Nigeria and how the air conditioner in the car wasn’t cooling due to the hot temperature in Lagos
According to reports, Samuel Iwelu is said to have come to Nigeria for a wedding in Abuja. There he met the developer, his friend who told him of a massive structure he was constructing in Lagos. They flew to Lagos to see the construction. Sadly, that was the last time anyone heard from Samuel.

The heartbreaking video of a father talking about his 16-year-old son, Emmanuel Abel, who is believed to be trapped under the rubbles at the construction site of the collapsed 21-storey-building in Ikoyi, Lagos state has been shared online.
In the video, the quite distraught father couldn’t hold back his tears as he said all he wants is just to see his son dead or alive. He stated that he is not in pursuit of justice.

Governor Sanwo-Olu visits victims of Ikoyi building collapse (photos)
The governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has paid a visit to the survivors of the 21-storey building collapse in Ikoyi.
Recall that on Monday, November 1st a 21-storey building which is under construction, located at off Alexander way, Gerrard Road, Ikoyi, Lagos State collapsed.
The governor who was at the hospital to pay a courtesy visit to the victims on Thursday, promised that the victims will get the best of medical attention.

In other news, a man identified as Innocent Amos has told of how he escaped the Gerrard Terraces building as it collapsed.
Amos, a graduate who works as a bricklayer, said he was working on the 12th floor and had just stepped out to get more plaster to continue working.
In his words;
“I was working on floor number 12. I just stepped out to order for more plaster sand so we can continue our work cos we have exhausted the one give us in the morning. I was standing not far from the pillar that gave the cracking sound. I ran immediately away while the building came down. Still nursing my right ankle. Didn’t know what happened to me there. It’s affecting my right thigh as well. But I’m fine.”
Developer of Collapsed Ikoyi building, Femi Osibona confirmed dead
Femi Osibona, owner of Fourscore Homes, the developing company in charge of the building that collapsed in Lagos, is confirmed dead.
His friend Dele Momodu shared the sad news days after it was revealed he was trapped under the rubble of the collapsed building.
“Good night my very dear friend and brother. FEMI FOURSCORE OSIBONA… RIP.”
Dele also changed his Instagram profile photo to a burning candle to mourn the dead.

Debola Williams reveals prayer he said before he met his wife
Popular media entrepreneur, Debola Williams has revealed how he met his wife, Kehinde Daniels Williams, the daughter of former Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniels.
He said four months before their paths crossed, he said a simple and short prayer to God asking “where will someone find a wife in a pandemic year?”
According to him, that same month Kehinde posted a wedding programme her father had designed in anticipation of her wedding. The couple eventually tied the knot in August 2021, in a grand ceremony attended by the movers and shakers of the society.
Debola disclosed this while celebrating his wife whose birthday is today, November 4.

Controversial Nollywood actor, Uche Maduagwu has chided his colleagues who flaunt their wealth on social media and choosing to ignore fans who beg for help.
Uche Maduagwu in a post he shared on his Instagram page stated that it doesn’t make sense for a celebrity to show off cars, jewelry and Dollars on social media and yet ignore fans when they ask for finacial assistance.
According to him, the act of giving to the poor makes Jesus Christ happy. In his words,
“Giving to the poor makes Jesus happy. It makes no sense for we celebs to show off expensive cars, jewelry and Dollars on social media but ignore our fans when they beg us for assistance”.
