“BBNaija is like ‘blue film’ and must be discouraged” — Arewa youths ask FG to ban the show
The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has called on the Federal Government to ban the airing of popular reality TV show, Big Brother Naija.
AYCF National President, Yerima Shettim, in an interview with Daily post on Friday, July 6, stated that the show encourages immorality and nudity, hence should be banned in Nigeria.
According to him, the show is synonymous with blue film (X-rated movies) because most viewers watch it because of its explicit contents.
Speaking further, Shettima appealed to the Government to ban the reality TV show and stop it from airing within the country.
His words,
“It’s a calamity as far as I am concerned; I have never believed in BBNaija and do not believe it is right because the show is an act of immorality. Such a show should not be encouraged.
“I have often said this show promotes immorality and the Nigerian government should please ban it, it should not be allowed to be aired in our country.
“You see, a lot of people watch to see immorality acts, those sex things displaying their nakedness, and they have made it look like a blue film (X-rated film), so, this must be discouraged.
“I urge true lovers of the country to join hands and call the attention of the government on the implication of this programme which must be discouraged,” he said.
We’ve recovered N89.2 billion excess and illegal charges slammed on Nigerians by the banks — CBN
The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has disclosed that it has so far recovered N89.2 billion excess and ill*gal charges slammed on customers by banks in Nigeria.
The CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, represented by the Acting Director, Corporate Communications Department, CBN, Osita Nwanisobi, speaking in Calabar at a 2-day public enlightenment fair, said the amount which was as at June 2021 was based on 23,526 complaints they received from customer bordering on charges and other related matters.
“What we do is that whenever we get these complaints, they are thoroughly investigated, if they are found to be true, the CBN makes sure that these customers are properly refunded and we have so far recovered N89 billion,” he said.
He added that the insinuations that the Apex bank was planning to convert domiciliary/ dollar accounts to naira were false and unfounded.
Meanwhile the apex bank also said that Nigeria’s financial system is sound, resilient and stable contrary to rumors in unnamed quarters.

In what appears like the wedding reception, the groom moved in for a kiss but the bride declined and removed her face, to the surprise of guests.
After several unsuccessful attempts to kiss his new bride, the groom managed to rub his lips against hers.

Hisbah finally reacts to the dress worn by Buhari’s daughter-in-law, Zahra, at her bridal shower
The Hisbah board has finally reacted to the dress worn by Buhari’s daughter-in-law, Zahra Nasir Bayero, during her bridal shower that held recently.
Zahra, who is set to wed President Buhari’s son, Yusuf Buhari, on August 20, wore a figure-hugging white dress that was transparent around the shoulder and arm. She also did not wear a head covering as is usually done by Muslim women.
Her outfit caused a stir on social media as people questioned why the morality police in Northern Nigeria had not commented on her dressing, but are quick to “punish” poor Muslims if they dress in a manner considered unreligious.
Netizens called out Hisbah and accused them of being biased in their judgement; favouring the wealthy and punishing the poor masses.
Reacting to the allegation, Hisbah commander, Sheikh Harun Ibn Sin, told BBC that Zahra is not above the law and should lead by example if she wants her marriage to be blessed.
The Sheikh also condemned people circulating photos and videos of Zahra in the controversial dress on social media, adding that it is a huge crime to spread such images.

Big Brother Naija shine ya eye housemates, Tega and Nini battle words on Friday morning, August 5 over a chair.
It all started when Nini laid for a foot massage from Saga earlier today, she had her feet on a chair while she sat on another. Tega who claimed she needed a chair to seat pulled the chair from Nini’s feet without asking for permission.
This triggered Nini and she immediately berated her for her actions. Tega who wasn’t having any of it slammed Nini in return which eventually led to a heated verbal argument.
An angry Nini while complaining to her friends; Saga, Arin and Jackie B in the garden noted that Tega likes to come into people’s spaces, displaying some actions that are disrespectful and triggering.
She threatened to lead Tega into depression if she dares her disrespect her again.
“She triggered me and that’s disrespectful ,Tega does not have respect for herself and others.
“I realized that sense doesn’t come with age. Respect people and don’t be in their spaces and stop frustrating them because it’s really unnecessary.
“As much as I play with everybody I wouldn’t come to your personal space and behave abnormally. I will lead her to depression if I open my mouth for her.” She said.

A Nigerian man has taken to his Facebook page to share an interesting story on how he married his wife regardless of the fact that a Medical test suggested she couldn’t have kids of her own.
The good news now is that the couple have now been blessed with a Child, less than 6 months into their wedding

Let me tell you a story about my marriage that will shock you.
About 6 months before my wife Favour Iyen and I got married, she started complaining of some pains in her abdomen.
At first, we ignored it but it became severe by the passing of each day, so I told her to go to the hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
They ran some scans and guess what the results were?
The doctors said she does not Ovulate at all, that she had a problem with her womb and she cannot get pregnant ever!
There’s a name they called the condition (I can’t remember anymore)
This news left her devastated!
She was practically broken!
She called her mom and her elder sister to inform them about the heart-wrenching news, they too were devastated!
They told her not to inform me about it yet, because they were scared I would call-off the wedding.
I remember she came to me with the results that day, covered in tears, eyes swollen from excessive crying, still sobbing like a baby, she held my hands and said “Baby, I’m sorry, the doctor said I can’t ever give you a child”
What??? I felt a gripping cold!
She burst into another crying session, I could see the fear in her eyes, she too felt I was going to call everything off!
Right there and then, I held her hands, I couldn’t bear to see her in such pains, I hugged her and whispered to her ears
“I didn’t decide to marry you primarily because of children, I’m marrying you because I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you, if we can’t bear children, we will adopt”
She couldn’t believe what she just heard, she was astonished, like she stood there for a while and cried some more, this time, tears of joy, I guess.
Omo, truth be told, that has to be one of the toughest decision I’ve had to make in split seconds in my entire life. TRUE LOVE IS A POWERFUL FORCE.
I couldn’t even tell any of my family members about this, not even my mum. I didn’t want to be discouraged by anyone.
Even when she told her family that she had informed me about it and I said I’m proceeding with the wedding plans, they were shocked! They couldn’t believe it.
6 months later, we got married against all odds.
I had already come to terms with the fact that we won’t be able to bear a child of our own.
Honestly, I wasn’t bothered.
Barely a month into our marriage, i would walk into the sitting room or bedroom and catch my wife crying profusely, this happened continuously on several occasions. When I ask to know what’s wrong, she’d say it’s frustrating to know she won’t be able to bear a child.
I would encourage her and tell her to cheer up, heck! I wasn’t complaining na.
Sometimes, I even got upset because it breaks my heart to see her cry.
Fast forward to 3 months into our marriage. One day her mom was to visit us, and she went to the park to pick her up.
When she got back, she handed me an envelope, and told me to open it.
I innocently opened it and I wouldn’t believe what I would see next. It was a pregnancy test result! My wife was pregnant!!!
Omo, I wan mad! Like, I screamed!!! I can’t count how many times I kissed her impulsively. Omo, I was teary! She cried too.
My mother in-law too was so happy.
9 months later, on the same week of my birthday, my wife delivered the most adorable baby I would ever hold in my arms.
It was surreal, like a dream!
Sometimes, till this day, when I stare at my daughter, I still feel like I’m dreaming.
I don’t know the moral of this story, but I know two things for sure.
1. True Love is one of the most powerful force that ever existed.
2. Miracles do exist.

Niyi made this revelation during his dairy session on Friday, August 5 when Biggie asked how he’s been coping with the ladies in the house owing to the fact that he’s a married man.
The father of one who disclosed that some of the female housemates have put him in uncomfortable situations. When Biggie probed further, Niyi noted that Beatrice made advances at him despite knowing he’s married.
He also alleged that Angel has made advances to him five different times while bathing in the shower.

17-year-old girl reportedly missing for one week after her mother dropped her off at school in Port Harcourt
A 17-year-old girl, identified as Lala Onwukwe, has reportedly gone missing after her mother dropped her off at her school in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.
According to reports, the teenage girl has been missing since last Friday, July 30th, and all efforts to find her has been futile.
Friends and family have taken to social media to raise alarm about her whereabouts.
Lala speaks English language fluently and is said to be of average height.
Anyone with useful information that can help in finding her has been urged to contact her mother, Nancy Nnenna Onwukwe, on 08141204644.

In other news, a final year student has taken to social media to lament missing his last paper after police officers allegedly stormed his hostel and “illegally” detained him.
Narrating his ordeal with men of the Nigeria Police force, the young man who hoped to graduate with his course mates alleged that some police officers broke into his hostel on that fateful morning which was supposed to be his sign out from the university and arrested him.
He revealed that he was falsely accused of cybercrime and cultism. Speaking further, he alleged that while he was receiving phone calls from people, the policemen forced him to say that he was caught red-handed with evidence to prove that he’s guilty of the charges levelled against him.
Following his release from detention he wore what was supposed to be his sign out shirt and wrote, “I would have graduated today, but State-CID said No!!. Boardman”.
“It’s weird that fans buy houses for reality stars, what’s wrong with Nigerians?” – Lady asks
A Nigerian lady, identified as @theonly1acre on Twitter, has questioned why fans of reality TV stars go overboard with their gifts.
According to her, it is bizarre that fans go as far as buying a house for their favorite Big Brother Naija housemate.
Speaking further, the lady asserted that even the western countries that originally founded the reality TV show are not as dramatic as Nigerians.
@theonly1acre’s statement comes after fans of BBNaija lockdown housemate, Ozo, gifted him a house on his birthday on August 4th.

Now, Ayra Starr has her debut album “19 & Dangerous“, the title of the project isn’t far fetched as the singer just clocked 19 in June. So far, she released a track off the project titled “Bloody Samaritan” which has been buzzing since its release.
Before releasing her album, Ayra Starr expressed what inspired her music as expressed via the album in a tweet. “Some of the songs on my album I wrote in a hospital hallway while my dad was in a coma 2019 , music is my life and it is therapy for me and I hope my music helps you the way it helped me.”, she said.

Liquorose in a conversation with some male housemates on Friday morning, August 6 stated that Angel loves to dress half-uncovered to get the attention of the male housemates.
According to the professional dancer, 21-year-old Angel has been wearing revealing outfits in the house to get all the boys.
Her comment was not well received by viewers of the reality who have taken to social media to drag her to filth.

Don Davis mum, Deborah Okezie amid tears has declared that Pentecostal churches in Nigeria are pure scam.
Deborah who became popular after she called out Deeper Life High School over the alleged molestation of her 11-year-old son by a staff and student of the school, in a video she shared on social media aired her grievances about churches in Nigeria.
Deborah in the video which was recorded during morning devotion with her kids warned them against going to church. According to her, their family gathering of prayer and worship is enough.
An embittered Deborah said,

Big Brother Niaja shine ya eye housemates have revealed that one of them, Angel showers with anybody regardless of their gender.
The conversation sprang up when some of the housemates spoke about Sammie and Angel’s relationship. Speaking about the duo’s 1 week relationship that has hit the rock, Saga noted that Sammie is a good guy but Angel is “forward”.
Pere noted that while the ship the lasted, the “one week” love birds showered together, Saga then noted that that wasn’t a big deal as Angel showers with anyone regardless of gender.

This is the rapper/singer’s first music release after the smash hit “Coming” which had South African songstress, Busiswa on it.
The new song comes as a surprise as the rapper did not hint about any new release via his social media pages. The track is believed to go viral in a very short while because of its title and lyrical content.

Nini had her legs on Arin’s chair, Tega asked Arin if she could sit on it, she said yes but Nini got angry Tega didn’t tell her to remove her legs from the chair before she just took it away and sat on it.

Final year student misses last paper after police officers allegedly stormed his hostel and illegally arrested him
A final year student has taken to social media to lament missing his last paper after police officers allegedly stormed his hostel and “illegally” detained him.
Narrating his ordeal with men of the Nigeria Police force, the young man who hoped to graduate with his course mates alleged that some police officers broke into his hostel on that fateful morning which was supposed to be his sign out from the university and arrested him.
He revealed that he was falsely accused of cybercrime and cultism. Speaking further, he alleged that while he was receiving phone calls from people, the policemen forced him to say that he was caught red-handed with evidence to prove that he’s guilty of the charges levelled against him.
Following his release from detention he wore what was supposed to be his sign out shirt and wrote, “I would have graduated today, but State-CID said No!!. Boardman”.
