Blessing Okagbare, one of Nigeria’s brightest medal hopefuls in the ongoing Tokyo 2021 Olympics, has been suspended, with immediate effect, by The Athletic Integrity Unit, AIU.

Okagbare had on Friday qualified for the semi-finals of the Women’s 100m a race she would have participated in this Saturday evening. But with AIU`s announcement, her participation in the ongoing global games has technically come to an end.

AIU revealed that an out-of-competition sample from Okagbare tested positive for human growth hormone. “The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has provisionally suspended Blessing Okagbare of Nigeria today with immediate effect after a sample collected from the sprinter tested positive for human Growth Hormone.

Growth Hormone is a non-specified substance on the 2021 World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List and a provisional suspension is mandatory following an adverse analytical finding for such substance under the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules.

The AIU collected the sample from Ms. Okagbare during an out-of-competition test on 19 July. The WADA-accredited laboratory that analysed the sample notified the AIU of the adverse analytical finding at mid-day Central European Time yesterday, Friday 30 July.

The athlete was notified of the adverse analytical finding and of her provisional suspension this morning in Tokyo,” the statement read.

A quite aggrieved student allegedly placed a ‘sacrifice’ in front of the office of a staff of Michael Okpara University, Abia State.

The student not only placed the sacrifice but also left a note on the door of the office — in the note, they threaten to send some staff of the Biochemistry department of the institution to their early grave.

The student also disclosed that there is no seriousness in resolving the issues 400 level students of the department have. Names of staff of the department who are in danger of the threats were also listed.

The note reads,

Resolve our result issue or you people face what comes out of it. Almost all 400L student of biochemistry has result issue and their is no seriousness about it. This department cannot frustrate us rather we send some to early grave. You are just toiling with our time and future

A young man’s message to his girlfriend announcing his marriage to another woman has stirred reactions on social media.

According to a Twitter user who shared screenshots of the message which she claimed was sent to her friend, the said man told his girlfriend about his upcoming marriage to another woman via Snapchat.

In the message he described the lady who he was leaving to get married to another woman as a beautiful woman with a golden heart, while he pleaded with her to remain friends with him.

In his defense he noted that he was getting married to another woman because man can only propose but God makes everything happen in his own way.

The message reads,

“I don’t wanna be your enemy and still wanna be that your good friend you can always call on and talk to you who sure want the best for you in all you do. You’re a wonderful woman with a golden heart and I always want the best for you. I’ll be getting married this weekend, it’s heavy for me to say to you but I just but I just gotta let you know this is happening. Man proposes, God dispose. I don’t have the guts to call and tell you. But I’m sorry I’m telling you really late, find somewhere in your heart to forgive me sure see you later and we talk”.

DCP Abba Kyari, who has been indicted in the Hushpuppi fraud case by the U.S government, has revealed the kind of relationship he had with international fraudster, Ray Hushpuppi.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Central District of California, Abba Kyari, a high-ranking Nigerian police officer who has received multiple honours, was one of six people indicted over an elaborate scheme to defraud a Qatari businessperson of more than $1 million, masterminded by celebrity fraudster, Ramon ‘Hushpuppi’ Abbas.

Shortly after the news broke, DCP Abba Kyari took to his Instagram page to write ;

Abbas who we later came to know as Hushpuppi called our office about 2years ago that somebody in Nigeria Seriously threatened to kill his Family here in Nigeria and he sent the person’s Phone number and pleaded we take action before the Person attacks his family.

We traced and arrested the Suspect and after investigations we discovered there wasn’t an actual threat to anyone’s life And they are long time friends who have money issues between them hence we released the Suspect on bail to go and he was not taken to any jail.

Nobody demanded for a kobo from Abbas Hushpuppi. Our focus was to Save people’s lives that were purported to have been threatened.

Later, he saw some of my Native Clothes and Caps on my social media page and he said he likes them and he was connected to the person selling the clothes and he sent about N300k directly to the person’s account. The Native Clothes and Caps (5 sets) were brought to our office and He sent somebody to Collect them in our office.

Nobody demanded any money from Abbas Hushpuppi and nobody collected any money from him. We responded to a distress call he made on threat to his family and released the Suspect when we discovered there was no life threat from the Suspect. This is the true story.
