A 45-year-old man has been arrested for defiling his 15-year-old daughter and intentionally infecting her with HIV at Muthara village in Tigania East, Meru County of Kenya.
According to the minor, her father drags her to a nearby farm where he sexually abuses her and this has happened on several occasions.
On one of such occasions, she fled to a nearby homestead where she was found and taken to Muthara Police Station. After her release, she refused to follow her dad home and told the police about how her father rapes her at will.
She also revealed that she told her school teachers about it but they failed to act on the report.
The police took the man’s clinic card and discovered that he had enrolled to collect anti-retroviral drugs. Subsequent tests showed that both father and daughter are HIV positive.
In court, the man casually admitted to raping his daughter to ‘ease her sexual urge’. According to him, he committed the dastardly act because he did not want to die alone and leave the girl to suffer.
The presiding judge, Principal Magistrate of Tigania court, Paul Wechuli, sentenced him to life imprisonment and gave him 14 days to appeal.
