breastfeed

A woman shared a picture of herself breastfeeding her sister’s son while the boy’s mother was away – and that woman’s sister later returned the favor.

The photo appeared Saturday on Breastfeeding Mama Talk, a board on Facebook.

Founder Kristy Kemp started it in 2012 because she wanted to create a space for breastfeeding mothers to exchange information. She regularly shares pictures of fellow mothers recounting their breastfeeding experiences.

The photo shared on Saturday shows a woman smiling at the camera while breastfeeding her sister’s son. The baby boy’s mother had left a bottle of her own pumped milk behind, but he wouldn’t accept it.

The bottle of pumped breast milk left by the sister was untouched at that point. But the woman’s sister gave away her milk too.

Feeding a baby another woman’s milk is called wet nursing. When two women swap their milk, as happened in that instance, is also known as cross nursing.

  1. Breastfeeding her sister’s child? And it’s been asked if it is right or wrong? Her sister’s child is her child, and she has her own baby that’s why she could breastfeed the child……babies have been breastfed by other women in time past…..it’s normal

  2. There is nothing bad dere,my mum told me dat my grand ma had to breast feed me wen I was a month old becos immediately she gave birth to me ,she had breast problem and culd not breast feed me cos it was paining her and again her breast milk was not save for me.(den my grand ma too is nursing her last child)jst ensure dat d person breast feeding d baby does not have any health problem shikanah!

  3. Hmmmmmm. Many people are ignorantly giving a plus to this. Yes, she may be doing this out of love & intense generosity. But my questions are: 1. Did the baby’s mum approve of it? 2. Medically, is it right? 3. Has she been tested or examined by medical experts in order not to transfer…disease to the baby? To me all the aforementioned are the only grounds she can breastfeed another’s baby.
