A lady has taken to social media to share how she developed PTSD from thoughts of being unmarried or not getting married on time.
She shared that it used to give her a severe heart att@ck when she thought of the patriarchal timeline that a woman below 27 is expired goods and not marriage material. Recalling that then, there was a boy who also contributed to enforcing that mentality and f3ar in her. She fell for the belief that unmarried women were unmarried due to their b@d behaviors and were simply not good enough.
But growing up and reflecting on the characteristics that people considered marriage material in women, were characteristics that were comfortable for the men and not the woman. She considered those characteristics that the men want in women as “dormant”; because they wanted women who could speak for themselves. Seeing now what most men value, their choices and what they consider good, she asserts that she will throw up if any of them decide to choose her. Because that would mean that she is not worth sh!t, that she is not who she thought she was.
Also adding that those preference that patriarchy structured has been the reason women calibrate themselves in order to suit and please men. She concluded with the fact on no account would her self worth be tied to the approval of a man
