Ayo Shonaiya’s 9-part documentary, ‘Afrobeats: The Back Story’ premiered last Friday, and not only were we pleasantly taken down memory lane with many of our favourite songs from back in the day, we were also taken behind the scenes to an expose of the journey and growth that was, as well as the legends who pushed the genre into the limelight that it currently basks in.

One thing that was evident from the documentary is that Afrobeat as we know it didn’t just come to be, neither has it always been what it is now. A lot went on behind the scenes for years and years before the genre metamorphosed into the formidable entity that has become the rave in the music world.

Another thing that the documentary made obvious is the fact that Afrobeat, in so many ways shaped the Nigerian music industry. It makes you wonder what else contributed to the big bang success the industry has experienced. And one name comes to mind; TECNO.

A beautiful lady caused a stir online, following her reaction to business mogul, Ezeokafor Joseph popularly known as Jowizaza spraying bundles of money at a wedding ceremony recently.

The young Nigerian billionaire was one of the dignitaries present at the wedding ceremony of former Governor of Abia state and senator representing Abia Central, TA Orji’s son, Chiemeka and his bride Oroma Amadi Wochi.

In a video from the event which found its way to the internet, the lady is seen standing behind the oil tycoon, while he made it rain of cash at the wedding. The unidentified lady gave the billionaire different looks which showed she was impressed by the act.

Netizens were quick to notice the beautiful light skinned lady, and her facial expressions has since stirred reactions online.

A Twitter user who shared the video on the platform wrote, “Lmaoooo just watch the white babe behind jowizaza”.

Reacting to the video another Twitter user, @doraayobam wrote, “Sis behind is waiting”.

Nigerian crossdresser, Daniel Anthony better known as Jay Boogie has alleged that he was attacked buy some group of people he tagged “trans hunters”.

Recounting the awful experience, Jay Boogie described the past few days as rough as he claimed he was apprehended, molested, harassed and beaten by the group.

Ghanaian actress turned Evangelist, Kasawale has alleged that her ex-boyfriend was possessed by 77 spirits and nearly introduced her to Mammy Water (mermaid).

The actress made this shocking revelation in an interview with GHPage TV. According to her, she met the guy at an eatery place in an area in Kumasi, Roman Hill, right after she passed out from learning a trade in bridal decorations, five years ago.

Kasawale said on their first meeting, the guy made a stunning comment of “I have been looking for you for a long time “ – which sounded as if he knew her already. She said he referred to seeing her in movies after she inquired what he actually meant.

The actress revealed that after he visited her in her shop and made a proposal which she rejected, he returned with ‘Don Simon’ which surprisingly happens to be her favourite drink.

She disclosed that after she took the drink, she began changing her mind on them being just platonic friends and told him that they could be in a relationship.

Kasawale said they started confiding in each other and she told him that she was being haunted by ‘spiritual marriage‘, which has affected her previous relationships and has been to several pastors for a solution but to no avail.

He reportedly promised to introduce her to his spiritual father whom she thought was a pastor, but wasn’t. She added that she started seeing changes in her newfound man,” his eyes could turn reddish and disappear within minutes”.

Speaking further, Kasawale said she believed she was still under the spell from the drink he gave her on the first date and couldn’t challenge most of his decisions.

She claimed he started giving her concoctions to drink and at times bathe with some of them. Eight months into their relationship, her boyfriend confessed to “working with 77 spirits, which comprised of dwarfs and Mammy Water”. She revealed the spirits were males and females and he gave her a ring she could use to summon the females.

He said that when she travelled to Benin Republic to visit the guy’s spiritual father, they made attempts to “send her under the sea to meet a mermaid which would climax her introduction into the spirit world.”

She said upon several attempts at the shore of the sea, she heard a strange voice shouting into her ears “where are you going”, which caused her to run for her life.

Kamsi, who graduated in February 2021, died on Wednesday, April 7, on his way back from an event in Nsukka, Enugu State.

It was gathered that a trailer carrying cement fell on their bus at 9th Mile, Enugu. Four passengers inside the fully loaded bus reportedly died in the accident, while others are currently hospitalized.

Kamsi’s death comes days after he shared his opinion about death on Facebook.

He had written, “Once the remedy to death is found that’s the end.”

His friends have taken to social media to mourn his sudden death.

In other news, A young Nigerian lady identified as Blessing Nyityo has allegedly died from a head injury she sustained after falling on a hard surface.

According to Blessing’s brother, the University of Mkar graduate who was fondly called Viju, went into coma after she slumped and hit her head somewhere on Easter Sunday, April 4. She was rushed to the hospital where she later died.

A final year student of the University of Port Harcourt, Gloria, has died few days after writing her first semester exam.

According to viral reports Gloria a student of the Faculty of Agriculture collapsed in her room and died on Wednesday, April 7th, days after her final exams.

The cause of her death cannot be ascertain, however, posts and comments by fellow students attributed it to “school stress”.

A newly wedded couple spent their first night in an open stadium after they were arrested for breaking Covid-19 rules in Rwanda.

The couple and their guests were arrested at their wedding reception over the weekend at the Le Printemps Hotel in Gasabo District.

They were taken to an empty stadium where they had to observe social distancing to avoid chances of spreading the virus.

Harerimana Gasana Jean de Dieu, the Finance and Administration Manager at the Hotel Le Printemps said he was disappointed by his customers because they had said they had come for a regular meal and later saw it as a reception after the wedding.

Kimironko Sector Executive Secretary, Umuhoza Rwabukumba warned traders and Rwandans, in general, to refrain from violating Covid-19 regulations.

In his words,

“We are always urging people to abide by the COVID-19 prevention guidelines…everyone knows the consequences. We have set up a community-based approach to fighting this epidemic, we have groups of people traveling to different parts of our Sector to ensure that the regulations are being followed well.”

Nigerian singer-songwriter, Reekado Banks has shared his thoughts on the choice of leaders ahead of the 2023 General Elections.

According to the singer in a recent tweet, leaders who have no plans of reforming the police for good will not be voted in.

He tweeted,

In October of 2020, the singer had a rift with fellow entertainer, Wizkid where he unfollowed him on Instagram, few days after the star boy had blasted him on Twitter.

Wizkid had blasted Reekado for announcing a release of an ‘old song’ the both of them recorded. Apparently, Wizkid felt it wasn’t right time to release songs due to the state of unrest in the country at the time as it is evident in his decision to postpone his highly anticipated album, Made In Lagos.

Taking to social media, the young singer alleged that popular Nigerian singer cum blogger, Tunde Ednut turned down an advertisement because it involved Teni.

Emini Trazi revealed he paid superstar singer, Teni to feature on a song, after the song was out he claimed that he paid Tunde Ednut to promote the song, but on realizing Teni was on the track, he allegedly turned down the advert.

Popular Nigerian businessman and philanthropist, Olakunle Churchill has bagged another chieftaincy title after being conferred with one in Enugu.

The founder of Churchill Group and Churchill Foundation via his Instagram page revealed he was conferred with the title, “Nwanne’di’namba“.

Sharing videos from the ceremony, he wrote, “Another Chieftaincy title ” Nwanne’di’namba”, coronated by HRH, Igwe Gerald Obunadike Mbamalu (Eze Ojoto)”.

In January 2018, the Ondo-born Olakunle Churchill was conferred with a Chieftaincy title in Enugu.

Pregnant Actress, Uche Ogbodo has taken to her social media page to talk about to talk about expecting her second child as a single woman.

In the video, She said she is unmarried and doesn’t regret having her first child, who is now 6, or this one she’s pregnant with.

She explained that despite all she went through in the hands of her ex when she was pregnant with her daughter at 27, she kept the child because she doesn’t support abortion.

She also told women who are above 30, to have their kids, rather than wait till they are no longer fertile because they want to get married first.

In her words ;

“Who marriage help? If with marriage and the almighty man that you’re marrying, you’re looking terrible, without marriage, who knows how you go look?

“Please, stop killing your children, especially when you’re of age. Have your kids. If marriage comes, marry oh, if marriage no come, raise your children now.”

“I’m 34. I already have a kid. This is going to be my second child. I have a boyfriend who loves me, I’m happy and I’m having my baby. “

She said she didn’t “plan for this but it happened” and “I’m not a candidate for abortion.”

“I can never in my life support abortion. I don’t support abortion because I’m Catholic.”

Davido’s lawyer, Prince speaks about why Chioma blocked him on social media

Davido’s Lawyer, Prince Bobo Ajudua has spoken about why the singer’s former fiancee, Chioma, blocked him on social media.

Prince addressed what possibly transpired between them during a question and answer session on his Insta-stories when a follower asked why Chioma blocked him.

In response, Davido’s lawyer stated that although he has a brother/sister relationship with Chioma, they disagree on many things.

He admitted that Chioma has repeatedly blocked him on Instagram. According to him, he doesn’t know why she recently blocked him again but hope to find out soon.

In his words,

“She’s blocked me before like 2 to 3 times. We argue a lot but I come with a brother/sister relationship. She’s legit like a sister to me (when we are not fighting). This particular one, I’m not sure. Let’s hope I find out soon.

“The funny thing is whenever we fight and I report to David, he’s like ‘I beg you people shouldn’t involve me in your wahala. Sha finds way settle am, she’s your younger sister.”

The woman who was carrying her child, had visited the store to ask for a job. However, she stole the bag when the store owner became distracted and immediately left the scene.

However, the CCTV caught her in ‘4k’, and she might already be in a lot of trouble.

Popular Actress, Rita Dominic, was recently in an interview with Journalist, Chude, and she revealed that she has children she takes care of.

According to the 45-year-old thespian, she may not be their biological mother and she’d love to have her own kids but for now she can still boldly state that she has children.

In her words ;

“I don’t know. I think I just really think differently from a lot of people. I don’t know. What I mean by that is there are certain things I don’t let get to me.

I see life differently. For me I may not have birthed them but I have children that I take care of. I have people that I take care of. You understand what I mean? So you know. And obviously I would love to have my own children. However, I have children. Let me just put it that way”.
