Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, has given an explanation to why the white pigeons’ President Buhari released during the Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration in Abuja last week failed to fly.
Recall that President Buhari trended last week on social media after the pigeons refused to fly despite several attempts by the President . Many Nigerians on social media described the incident as a “bad omen”. Some even said the pigeons refused to fly because they weren’t sure of their safety outside the cage.
In an article titled ‘Reflection from a wreath-laying ceremony,’ Adesina described the pigeons’ refusal to fly as “a natural phenomenon”.
His article in part reads;
“Now, something for those who twist my every word, turn it upside down, to generate hatred. Something for them to wail about. The release of the pigeons.
At every Armed Forces Remembrance Day, after the laying of the wreaths, the sitting President releases some pigeons, to symbolise peace in the land. Emblems of National harmony. It was not different last Friday.

And when birds and some other roaming animals have been circumscribed for a while, they get accustomed to their new status as lawful captives. A 45-year-old driver, Adetunji Tunde Oluwasegun, has been sentenced to two years imprisonment for spending a sum N2million that was erroneously transferred into his account.
The Ilorin Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had on Monday, January 18, 2021 arraigned Oluwasegun on a one-count charge bordering on stealing before Justice Sikiru Oyinloye of the Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin.
The offence contravenes Section 286 and punishable under Section 287 of the Penal Code.
The charge reads:
“That you, Adetunji Tunde Oluwasegun, sometime between the month of July, 2020 and 21st of August, 2020 at Ilorin, Kwara State, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court dishonestly took the sum of N2,000,000.00 (Two Million Naira), property of Sherifat Omolara Sanni, which she erroneously transferred to your bank account 0008383333 domiciled with Guaranty Trust Bank plc, without her consent and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 286 of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 287 of the same Penal Code”.
The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge when it was read to him.
Justice Oyinloye found Oluwasegun guilty of the offence and sentenced him to two years imprisonment with a fine of N200, 000 (Two Hundred Thousand Naira).
The judge also ordered the convict to repay to the victim the sum of N2million before he finished serving his jail term.

A Nigerian lady has been filmed fighting with her friend for telling her boyfriend that she is cheating on him.

One Mr. Happyman has been arrested over the murder of his girlfriend, Orie Evusi who was declared missing four days ago.
A police investigation was launched after the deceased who left her home on Sunday January 17, 2021 never returned.
OgharaVoice reported that Orie’s boyfriend who is a commercial motorcyclist (Okada man) was the prime suspect and was allegedly caught attempting to take his own life by drinking a poisonous substance. His neighbours who saw him, rushed him to the hospital after raising an alarm.

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer and assistant coach, Joe Erico is dead following brief illness.
Erico, aged 72 passed away in Lagos on Tuesday, January 19th.
A relative of the deceased identified as Tomiwa Aghedo, who confirmed the sad news to Goal.com, revealed that the coach complained of stomach ache before he died.
In his words,
“I feel sad informing you that coach Joe Erico passed away [Tuesday].
“He complained of stomach ache yesterday and he was subsequently rushed to the hospital, where he was told to present his Covid-19 test result before he would be attended to.
“Coach Erico went for the test as directed and very early Tuesday morning he passed away. It’s terrible news at this point in time and everyone of us is devastated.
“We are consoled by the fact that he served Nigeria with all his strength and he lived a good life worthy of emulation.”
