Hollywood actor, George Clooney has confirmed a longstanding rumor that he gave 14 of his closest friends a $1million each in cash.

In GQ’s Men of the Year issue, the 59-year-old whose net worth is over half a billion dollars, stated that he gave 14 of his closest friends who have helped him in one way or another, $1m each via suitcases full of cash in 2013, after his close friend Rande Gerber first revealed his generosity in 2017.

At the time, Gerber also revealed in an interview that Clooney also paid all the taxes on the money he gave to them.

Speaking in an interview with GQ, Clooney said: these friends were all guys “who’ve all, over a period of 35 years, helped me in one way or another. I’ve slept on their couches when I was broke. They loaned me money when I was broke. They helped me when I needed help over the years. And I’ve helped them over the years. We’re all good friends. And I thought, you know, without them I don’t have any of this.”

He said he got all his friends together to share his gift with them before he got married to his wife, Amal Clooney.

And I said, ‘How do you repay people like that?’ And I said, ‘Oh, well: How about a million bucks?’ And the fun part about it was: That was the 27th, the 28th of September. A year later, on the 27th of September, just by happenstance, was the day I got married.”

“I don’t know where they are taking me to” – Young lady murdered in Anambra told her family before she went missing

A young lady was discovered inside a drainage at Odikpi Village, along Osumenyi/Akwaihedi Road in Osumenyi Town, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State on November 7.

Chinasa Sofia Nkwegu’s body was found dumped inside a drainage two days after she told her family over the phone that she didn’t know where she was being taken to by some persons.

Her family members revealed this when they visited Nnewi South TC Chairman, Hon. Chieloka Henry Okoye on Tuesday, November 17, at the Secretariat in Ukpor.

When Nkwegu’s body was found, her mouth was gagged while her hands and legs were tied with rope — the corpse was first spotted on Saturday evening, November 7.

According to Comr George Moore, the Special Assistant to the LG Chairman, the deceased was a native of Ebonyi State, but resided with her mother at Obosi; Idemili North Local Government Area of the state and was a staff of Jennytex Intergrated Services with head office at Onitsha.

According to the deceased’s uncle, Mr Damian, she left for work as usual on Thursday morning, November 5 but never returned. The last that was heard of her was on phone when she said she didn’t know where she was being taken to.

“Security Agencies are on top of the matter in identifying what led to the death of Miss Chinasa Nkwegu and will bring the perpetrators to book. Further information from the public will be appreciated for the sake of justice for late Miss Chinasa Nkwegu,” said Comr. George Moore.

Nigerian couple who struggled to have a kid for six years welcome triplets three years after adopting a baby girl

A Nigerian lady, Hafsat has gracefully given birth to a set of triplets three years after she and her husband adopted a baby girl.

In an interview granted to Northern Hibiscus, it was revealed that after six years of marriage without a child, Hafsat who is a fashion designer, and Aminu opted for adoption.

They adopted a baby girl, who they named Princess Zahra, three years ago. Their breakthrough came later year as Hafsat conceived and gave birth to three bouncing baby boys on the 13th of November.

Taking to her business page on Monday, November 16, Hafsat gave the good news to her friends and family, as she thanked them for their support and prayers all throughout the journey.

“Alhamdulillah Alhamdulillah. Allah is indeed merciful. We have been blessed with three baby boys, born on the 13th of November, 2020,” she wrote.

“We give gratitude to the almighty. Thanks for your endless support and prayers althrough the journey”

A Nigerian lady has undergone an amazing weight loss transformation in under a year, without having to visit the gym.

@dodobabss has taken to the microblogging site to wow social media users after she posted photos of her weight loss journey.

In the tweet she posted, the lady said she shed 40kg in eight months and she did not visit the the gym at any time during the said period for any kind of physical regimen.

According to her, the weight loss took place between February and October 2020.

She shared before and after pictures of herself which captured her when she was still her old self and the ones showing a slimmer physique.

Nigerians were impressed as some wondered how she achieved that fitness feat without ever visiting the gym.

Two final year Delta State Poly students die in ghastly motor accident on the way to their graduation party

Two final year students of the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area, lost their lives in a ghastly motor accident on their graduation day.

The students who were supposed to be conferred graduates of the institution died on their way to the graduation ceremony, following an accident that involved a commercial tricycle and a Lexus Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), last Friday, November 13th.

The deceased have been identified as Annabel Ogaga Akpofure and Oke Melissa.

Until their death Annabel was the departmental president of accountancy, while Melissa was a final year student from the department of Mass Communication.

Both students were buried on Tuesday, November 17th. Annabel was laid to rest in her hometown, Ovara-Unukpo town, Orogun in Ughelli North local government Area of Delta state while Melissa was buried in Otu-Jeremi in Ughelli South LGA, and their course-mates have since taken to social media to mourn their demise.

The Police spokesperson Onome Onovwakpoyeya, who confirmed the incident, stated that the female students died on the spot, while a male victim who was unconscious, died on Sunday, November 15th.

Popular Kid comedienne, Emmanuella has revealed how she achieved her dream to build a house for her mother.

Recall that she made headlines few days ago after she built a beautiful bungalow for her mother.

Speaking in an interview with BBC pidgin while giving a tour of the house, the 10-year-old disclosed that she divided her income into four parts and used a quarter to build the house.

According to her, she initially planned to buy a car for her father, but Mark Angel reminded her of her promise to build a house for her mother.

She said the building project began late last year and it took a year for the house to be completed. She however noted that she still plans to buy a new car for her father soon.

The vibrant champ said her mother deserves an estate for her prayers and sacrifice but she isn’t as rich as Dangote to get her one.

Emmanuella further shared how she intends to use her earnings. She noted that she contacted her manager and split her income into four parts; one for the house, another for her family, and the remaining parts for the orphanage and her savings.

The VP stated that the judicial panel will investigate cases of police brutality against citizens, and where necessary compensate victims.

Yemi Osinbajo, The Vice President of Nigeria has disclosed that the government will ensure that all officers responsible for brutality against citizens are brought to justice.

Speaking at the launch of the Rebuild Lagos Trust Fund, on Monday, November 16, the VP commiserated with the government and people of Lagos State for the loss of lives and properties during the recent #EndSARS saga.

According to him, “these deaths should never have happened. It is now our responsibility to honour their memory and ensure that justice is comprehensively served.

Our State, like our Nation, is in need of healing. We recognize that the balm for a wounded society is truth and justice. This is why judicial panels of inquiry have been established all across the country. Their mandate is to investigate cases of police brutality against citizens, and where necessary compensate victims.

Specifically, in Lagos, the mandate of the inquiry has been expanded to include a full investigation of the Lekki toll gate incidents. This process has begun and all Federal Agencies and the armed services are participating actively as Mr. President said, and I quote, ”We will also ensure that all those responsible for misconduct or wrongful acts are brought to justice.”

The pursuit of restorative justice, recompense for injury to innocents and a reckoning for perpetrators of abuse are essential components of the moral and ethical reconstruction of our homestead. I urge all of us to give this process a chance to work and to commit to the advocacy and participation that it will take to enable this process succeed.”

“Don’t expect suspension of strike soon” – ASUU tells students and parents

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Tuesday November 17, told students and parents to not expect suspension of its ongoing strike anytime soon.

The union’s Abuja Zonal Coordinator, Prof. Theophilus Lagi gave the announcement during a press briefing in Abuja and also told lecturers to seek alternative means of survival.

Lagi, who accused the federal government of not showing commitment in resolving the issues that necessitated the ongoing industrial action, also stated that they will continue with the strike until the government bows to the union’s demands.

They also accused the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige of turning the wheel of progress backwards by setting ASUU on a collision course with other pressure groups in the university.

He said;

“Today, we wish to let Nigerians, especially our students and parents know that there is no hope in sight to ending or suspending the ASUU strike that has lingered for several months as government is yet to show serious commitment towards addressing our core demands.

“Our members have been advised to seek other legitimate means of survival as the government has not released salaries withheld since February, 2020.

“One needs not be a psychologist to understand the behaviour and recent utterances of the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige. The Minister has clearly shown his disdain for Nigerian academics and has failed to play the role of an unbiased umpire in moderating the imbroglio.

“He has now become the spokespreson to the Accountant General of the Federation and the Ministry of Finance, instead of finding solution for lecturers to get back to work,he is turning the wheel of progress backwards by setting ASUU on a collision course with other presure groups in the university. Clearly Dr Ngige is on a war part with ASUU.

“As men of letters, we would have elected to ignore Senator Chris Ngige’s deliberate misinformation and deceit. So, this response is more to straighten the record than it is to massage the minister’s ego.

‘’In one of his comedies of error, Ngige told the nation that the striking lecturers had been paid salaries up to date when he knew university lecturers were being owed salaries for between nine and six months for no just cause.

‘’In another fit of treachery, the Minister during a recent budget defense at the National Assembly, while upholding the existence of University Autonomy Law, attempted in vain to redefine its provisions.

“In the past few weeks, for instance, Ngige has said one thing when he met with the union and a different thing on the same subject in interviews with the media. This double character of a Minister and a purported negotiator in the face-off should be a source of worry to not only the body of Nigerian students but also parents who patronize public universities as the minister’s untoward attitude is undermining the reopening of these schools.

“In furtherance of his intimidation of the lecturers and misinformation of the public, Ngige argued that autonomy could not hold in the prevailing circumstance. On this, we would like to educate the Minister that public universities in Nigeria are creatures of law as each university is established by an Act enacted by the National Assembly.”

Nigerian Super Eagles striker, Kelechi Ihenacho appears to be troubled after the team threw away a four-goal lead to draw 4-4 with Sierra Leone in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying first leg match last Friday at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Edo State.

The Super Eagles ended the first half with a 4 – 1 lead with two goals from Alex Iwobi and one each from Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen before Sierra Leone’s Kwame Quee scored one just before the break.

“Ogun fire you ma” – Alex Ekubo slams woman who advised Nigerian-American actress, Yvonne Orji against working with him

Nollywood actor, Alex Ekubo has slammed a woman who advised Nigerian-American actress, Yvonne Orji against working with him.

Alex had posted a photo he took with Yvonne on Instagram and wrote,

“First it was bitter, then it was sweet, then it was bitter sweet, then it was sweeeeeeeeet all the way to the end, then @yvonneorji gently rubbed my chest, looked me in the eye & said I love you Alexx, & I gently removed her hand & replied thanks Sis, I appreciate you.”

The moralist apparently felt the caption was rather inappropriate and commented, warning the Hollywood actress against working with him.

According to her, Yvonne should disregard her Nigerian descent and remain in Hollywood.

She commented, “Despite your origin, your going to realize they are not the best to do business with. Stay in Hollywood. Trust me on that. Look at the BS he wrote. No tact at all.”

Alex Ekubo fired back and respectfully laid hefty curses on her.
