Ayaba Aishat Folashade Adeyemi, one of the wives to 81-year-old Alaafin of Oyo, has poured encomium on the traditional ruler, describing him as very romantic.
The mother-of -three who met the foremost traditional ruler during an excursion to the palace at 25, revealed why he is far different from most men.
“He is wise and intelligent. Most times when he is not in the office or attending to visitors, he is in the library reading. He reads a lot and encourages us to read too. At times he would tell you to look for the meaning of a word; you will be surprised that he would tell you the meaning of that word as it is written in the dictionary or on Google.
He is such a wonderful man. His depth of knowledge is unrivaled. He is also a unique Yoruba monarch. He is popular and brilliant, and there is no place he cannot go as a Yoruba oba. Alaafin is the first among the Yoruba obas. The way he does his things are different.
Kabiyesi is very romantic. If you are not close to him, you won’t know that he is loving and kind. At times when I’m in the kitchen, he would come and offer to assist. While at the college, he would dish food for me and instruct the driver to bring it to school.
The difference in our age gap has not stopped him from showing affection. He shows affection more than some of these young men you see outside there. What a young man can do out there, Kabiyesi does better.”
Nollywood actor, Don Charles Mmaduka, also known as Pitakwa, has said he will marry his mom’s age mate without a second thought if she possesses the qualities he wants in a woman.
Speaking with Daily Post, Pitakwa said:
“Attraction is paramount to me in a relationship and for me, it is completely not age-dependent.
I can marry a woman in the same age bracket as my mother, I kid you not! It’s all in the attraction and I must add that I’m more mentally attracted to ladies than I am physically attracted to them; and by mental attraction, I mean a lady’s intellectual capacity,” he said.
Attraction is an emotion beyond human control. It does not matter the age and so, age shouldn’t be seen as a barrier to a beautiful relationship that could blossom into a model and happy home.
Age is just really a number to me and has nothing to do with compatibility and satisfaction for me.
A woman twice my age who fits into the descriptions in my bucket list for a life partner, I will marry without a second thought.”

I’ve went back and forth about sharing this news for months. Honestly, I’ve been worried that no one will invest in me or that my current investors would be mad and that I would lose something I’ve worked so hard for. It’s sad that I’ve even had that worry but it’s my reality.
But I’ve decided life is too short to hide your joy in the fear of what others may think. While some may pass me by. The truth is I’m going to work so much harder, smarter and do much more because I have a child coming into this world and I’m going to give them the world
It’s indeed been a crazy year, but I’ve remained committed and worked to build an incredible company against all the odds. I’m proud of myself. So I guess in all the chaos and craziness we’ve experienced something good came out of 2020 after all – Joy.

Kate Cunningham, 38, said it was one of the best decisions she has ever made when she married the tree at Rimrose Valley Country Park in Sefton, Merseyside in September last year.
She celebrated her first year of marriage with two friends and some elderflower champers.
She said: “Trees will always come first. They do keep us alive.”
“Despite causing a little bit of embarrassment for my 15-year-old, he sees the bigger picture now and understands what it’s for.
“It’s something which has made me feel a bit more confident about myself. I don’t care about what anyone else says. “Marrying the tree has given me a new purpose.
“I’ve changed my name to Elder. So even that gives me a whole new feeling. It fits in with married life as well, I feel like a changed person.”
The ceremony was attended by dozens and the local musician and poet Davy Edge performed.
It was inspired by female activists in Mexico who held similar ceremonies as a form of protest to raise awareness of illegal logging and land clearing.
Likewise, she hoped the whacky tactic would attract attention to the campaign to save Rimrose Valley Country Park from being transformed into a bypass by Highways England.
She has called for an annual ‘Marry A Tree Day’ and encouraged more Brits to wed their local shrub.
“Not once have I thought that I shouldn’t have done it. It’s something that I feel like happened at the right time.
She said: “One day I was looking around tree hunting. I was like ‘oh yeah nice, nice, nice’ as I looked at the oaks, but as soon as I saw the elder, I thought ‘that’s the one’. “It doesn’t look like anything else around.
“This one stood alone amongst the tree. “Often I like to talk to the tree, I say hello and thank you for your good energy. I just feel like trees are people.
“You know if you feel attracted to someone or smile at them as you walk past, there’s just a natural attraction.
“Trees and flowers are the same. I like the story behind the elder tree.”

A birthday party ended in tragedy when a teenage guest stabbed the celebrant, Omeika Josiah at Amini Awo village in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun state.

As the party progressed, Philip got into a fight with a guest after a misunderstanding. The celebrant walk in on both men fighting and took sides with the guest identified as Jonah, and this got Philip angry. The suspect ran into a nearby house and returned with a knife which he used to stab Philip.
“One of the guests named Jonah sent a boy to move the sound system away from the scene when he noticed that food and drinks were pouring on the floor. But Sunday (Philip), an apprentice mechanic, prevented the boy sent by Jonah from taking the jukebox away and seized the sound gadget. Jonah tried to take the sound system from Sunday and a fight broke out between them,” the source explained.
“When Sunday realised that he could not overpower Jonah, he rushed to a nearby house and brought out a knife to attack Jonah. Unfortunately, on his way back to Jonah, he met the celebrator, Josiah, who warned him not to disrupt his party. “He however came to the party when he got wind that it was Josiah’s birthday celebration. Only God knows what came over him when he launched into a fight with another guest and close friend of the celebrator. If not for the timely intervention of the community leaders and other residents, he would have been mobbed to death when he was nabbed after he tried to escape from the scene where he stabbed Josiah to death.”

The was mild drama in Lafia, Nasarawa State, after a mechanic, John Simon drove a customer’s car to a brothel in the New Nyanya and it got stolen.
It was gathered that Simon was in the middle of an overnight (Till daybreak) romp with a sex worker known as Stella Emeerga, when the Toyota Camry 2014 model, was stolen by three men in connivance with Emeerga.
Simon, a father of two, stopped by at the brothel while transporting the car to Abuja to be delivered to his customer who is a car dealer.
Amid his drunken state in the brothel, one of the accomplices reportedly sneaked in to the room and picked the car key on the floor.
When he woke up at dawn and did not find the car where it was parked, Simon reported the incident at the New Nyanya Police Station and he and Emeerga were arrested.
After months of investigation at the station without headway, the owner of the car was said to have petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, and the case was transferred to IG’s Intelligence Response Team.
One of the suspects, Monday Francis, recently arrested by police officers, confessed to the crime during an interview with The Punch within the week.
Francis, 30, said the theft was carried out in connivance with Emeerga, noting that the car was with a member of the gang who is still at large.
He stated; “We were four including Stella (Emeerga) that planned to steal the car when the driver (Simon) arrived at the brothel. We planned to make it look as if Stella was innocent. I pretended that I wanted water from her and she came out of her room while one of us quietly opened the door and took the car key.
“Stella told us that the man was drunk and that we could try. Dodo and Ezekiel took the car away. They gave it to one buyer who is on the run. Boys hang around the brothel to steal from anyone who is careless. Most of them will sleep off. We will enter their rooms and steal their valuables.”
But 25-year-old Emeerga, who said Simon had been her customer for over a year, denied conniving with the gang to steal the vehicle.
The woman claimed not realize the Toyota Corolla had been stolen until in the morning when she discovered that a piece of cloth she used to block a big hole on her door had been removed.
She stated, “That day, Simon saw me hanging outside the brothel waiting for a customer. He took me and his friend, Junior, to an ATM point in Maraba to withdraw money. We came back and stayed outside till around 12am. I told him that I want to go and sleep as I was feeling cold. He told me that he wanted to sleep with me that night. I resisted but since there was no customer, I obliged him.
“Around 1am, I heard someone knock at my door. I ignored it but the person knocked again. It turned out to be Francis. I opened the door and explained to him that I have a guest. He then asked me if I had water and I said no.
“He pleaded with me to help him collect water from the bar. I followed him and locked my door because I know bad boys might enter my room. Simon was awake but lying down. I came back and we slept. In the morning, our landlady knocked at my door that I should bring my N1,500 levy. We normally contribute N1,500 every month to settle security men.
“I discovered that a hole on my door was opened. I normally used cloth to block it. I never knew that something had happened. It was when Simon finished bathing and could not find the key that I realised that someone could have accessed my room through that hole. We went outside and discovered that the car was no longer where it was parked. We went to New Nyaya Police Station and reported the matter. They took our statement and detained us.”
Narrating how she went into prostitution, Emeerga revealed she was married with two children but things took a drastic turn in 2015 when her husband became mentally ill.
Emeerga said; “He was in the university to do a degree programme when he became mad. He killed one of my children and I returned to my parents’ house. I was not doing anything, so one of my friends in Nasarawa asked me to come over last November. I knew that she is a prostitute and I started hustling too.
“I have lost count of the number of men I have slept with but in a day if the market is booming, I get up to eight persons. The amount we charge depends on the bargaining power. If there is no customer especially during this coronavirus period that men ran away, we collect N500 per customer.”
Giving his account of the incident, Simon said he saw Emeerga leaving the room but he did not suspect any criminal intent.
“I am a mechanic and a driver. My customer called me to drive his car to Abuja and I decided to relax a bit with Stella (Emeerga). I have known her for about a year. We stopped at a bar and drank.
“I didn’t know anyone entered her room. I saw her when she left, but I didn’t bother to stand up. She came back and we made love after which I slept off. It was when I woke up that I discovered that the key was missing.”

Claire had in a previous post narrated how she lived with her husband when she was still married, read the post after this story.
Read her story below;
The day i left my ex husband, i allowed him to make love to me, served him his best meal and kissed him goodbye as he left to go watch a football match at Ajah.
We lived at Magodo, I calculated the time i had, max 4 hours.
I started packing hurriedly, I packed everything I considered important, because I knew I’d never get anything I leave behind again.
I got a taxi to tow my car out of the house, which by the way, my ex disabled intentionally so I wouldn’t be able to go anywhere, my Friend, Eby, was kind enough to let me park it in her house.
I left.
He came back and found out I’d left, he began calling me, he called me over a 100 times.
He sent me messages of love, some he’d be pleading for me to come back.
48 hours after, he changed.
I started getting threats from him.
I’ll kill you. I’ll cripple you. I’ll burn your father’s house down. If i can’t have you, no one will. Watch your back. You’re mine for life.
Called my friend Chioma Linda Okoro.
Called my Father.
Called my Favourite Uncle.
Called my godmother.
He didn’t sound apologetic in all of this.
He was arrogant and threatening.
He’d wait till 1am, 2am, call me and just be breathing.
Sometimes he’d call me and threaten me, bodyshame me, tell me he loves me, then threaten me again.
Everytime I changed my number, he’d get the new one and call me.
In all of these, I recognised the clear and present danger i was in and I never took it for granted.
I stayed out of sight.
Once I’m done at my place of business, straight to my house.
No partying, No socialising. No hangouts. Nothing.
My godmother was mad, she said she’d get him arrested, do this, do that.
I remember looking her in the eyes and telling her, all it takes, is one bullet. Just one, and I’m history.
The more I stay out of sight, the more he forgets me.
I’m not going to go at it with someone whose reality had become obfuscate.
I wanted to stay alive, and my best bet of achieving this, was to stay out of his sight.
I’m writing this today, because I read about the Ghanaian pastor in America who shot his wife to death.
He threatened to kill her before her brother and all they did was, call the cops.
Call the cops because you’re assuming you’re dealing with someone who is mentally stable and is Still under the the rule of law.
Their first and only mistake.
That man was no longer mentally stable and the only rule of law he knew at that time was the dictates of his unstable mind.
She should have relocated. She should have left her job. She should have gone off grid for a while. She should have taken the threats seriously.
Imagine how angry and utterly insane you have to be, to shoot someone, then walk over, stand over her body and fire more shots into her head point-blank.
He is ready to die and so has no regards for another person’s life.
I wish she and her family had understood this.
I did, that’s why I’m alive today.
Here’s my advice to Women who have left an abusive spouse:
TAKE EVERY THREAT SERIOUSLY.
TAKE EVERY SINGLE THREAT SERIOUSLY.
TAKE STEPS TO PROTECT YOURSELF.
TAKE EVERY THREAT SERIOUSLY.
YOUR LIFE MATTERS.
My deepest condolences to her grieving family.
And in this journey of life, may we never find love in the arms of our executioner.

HERE IS THE STORY OF HOW SHE LIVED WITH HER HUSBAND:
I got married as a teenager. I remember my dad being unhappy about it. He didn’t want me to.
My husband was older by almost 18years. Very handsome, Intelligent, comfortable, appeared to be a gentleman.
I remember when he was courting me anytime we quarrelled, I’d leave him and go home.
He’d call me, I wouldn’t pick his call, Next thing, he’d come to the house and beg me, didn’t matter if I was right or wrong.
I remember he’d be there to pick me from work, no matter how late I closed, open car doors, kisses on my forehead, the works.
I thought he was the man of my dreams.
We got married.
Barely 3 days in, I got a shocker.
I went with my friend to the saloon to retouch my hair, I was washing my hair when he called, I couldn’t take his call so I asked my friend to please answer,
the minute he realised he was speaking with my friend, he lost it, he began to scream at her, my Friend was trying to explain to him but he wasn’t having it,
so at some point she told him, abeg I’m not your wife don’t speak to me like that and hung up.
He started calling back, he called about 3 times, i had to pick the call, I tried to explain why I couldn’t pick earlier, I had Barely said baby I… when he let rip a torrent of curse words, you fucking bitch, ashawo, prostitute, you were fucking right?
I was speechless, I stammered in shock, he screamed again, where the fuck are you? I told him, within 10 minutes he came and we left for home, abandoning my friend at the saloon.
All the way home he was seething, I was seething too, I thought it was the man that courted me I was with, so I was equally angry too, I didn’t know his real self was about to show.
The minute we stepped into the house, i got a thunderous punch to the side of my head.
I staggered, was trying to gain my composure to talk when he came at me with torrents of slaps and punches, kicks too.
He finally stopped after I lay inert, and said to me, don’t you ever try to cheat on me again!!
From that point onwards, the physical abuse was a regular thing.
I gave birth to my first surviving child with my left eye swollen shut. This was the beginning of Enmity between himself and my Ma.
During the pregnancy I had to be on bedrest for about 6 weeks, because of a beating that nearly resulted in me losing the pregnancy.
I begged my gynaecologist to please insist I be admitted during the duration of those 6 weeks. Those were the happiest 6 weeks of my life in that marriage.
I remember when I travelled for my elder sister’s marriage Oby Nnadi, we were at the saloon in Owerri when he called me and I missed his call,
he then called my sis and I spoke to him through her phone and explained i didn’t hear the phone ring. He didn’t say much before he hung up.
When I got back to lagos, the beating I got resulted in one of my eardrums getting busted.
I lost several phones because I was constantly holding my phone in my hands so I wouldn’t miss his calls, and he would call repeatedly till I picked, sometimes I’d see 50 missed calls, I’d know I’m dead already.
Because of this, till date, I HATE being called repeatedly, especially by my partner, I get panic attacks, my breathing ceases literally.
I begin to sweat, my heart starts to beat erratically, till Tomorrow. I can’t stand repeated calls.
My family members were not allowed to visit or call. He isolated me completely.
Only my elder sister wouldn’t leave me alone. She fought him to a standstill, till he had no choice but to bow to her coming over.
At some point, they developed a respectful but distant relationship. Sis, I love you, Thank you.I know you did that for me.
He was changing my sim card every other month.
He was answering my calls, my male cousins all loved me, i was their paddy, most of them lived abroad,
he chased everyone of them away, insulting them, calling them my boyfriends.
?
He got a pump action, was given rubber bullets, he used me as target practice, Every shot he aimed at me pushed me to the ground, he’d mock me and say i wasn’t even strong
?.
He broke my leg, my head, tore a part of my body with an iron hanger. God!!
He was always womanising, clubbing and coming home in the mornings.
The first time I ran away, my godmother got Project Alert involved.
They invited him and interviewed him, they asked him what I usually did that used to annoy him to the point where he’d brutalised me like this,
was I rude? Insulting? Had he caught me cheating?
He told them I was nothing but a good wife. That I love him, but its just that he has a bad temper, and usually just transfers his aggression to me.
Mrs Josephine Effah, was angry that day and asked me what I wanted to do, I remember him begging me not to leave him, so yes, I went back.
Thank you Project Alert and Mrs Josephine Effah for the good you do.
❤
I finally left after he strangled me one day and left the house, but for some reason I remember i heard my son crying over my body and somehow I came to.
That was the day I began to plan my escape.
My escape is a story for another day.
I wrote about my friend who doesn’t want to leave and me blocking her because she won’t leave, because I’m mad at her.
I was a rich man’s wife, driving expensive cars and living what people were thinking was a great life, yet I left. She’s the one feeding the house in her case and paying the bills still she stays.
I was a student in my final year without a penny to my name when I left, I knew the transition to a meagre lifestyle would be hard, but my life was more important, i left.
My friend is in a time where our society is somewhat supporting and standing up for abused women, the time i left, the support wasn’t there like it is now.
My family were most supportive of my decision and for that, I thank them.
I’m in a Healthier and Happier place in my life.
I want any woman in an abusive marriage to realise this:

A viral video currently trending on social media shows moment an exit secondary school student sitting for the West African Examination Council, WAEC exam, proposed to his girlfriend.
The students had reportedly finished writing their exams and were leaving the school premises when the lover boy decided to pop the four-words question.
In the video, they could be seen walking on what looks like the school’s football field, the girl who was proposed to, was at the front with her friends while her boyfriend trailed behind.
He quickly rushed toward her, knelt down and brought out a ring, then put it on her finger as she screamed in excitement and said yes.
Big Brother Africa star and media personality, Uti Nwachukwu is of the opinion that Nigerian parents have failed in teaching their children how to accept or handle rejection honorably.
According the media personality, Nigerians attempt to destroy a thing whenever they cannot get it or have been rejected.
His post reads ;
Majority of Nigerian parents have failed their children by not teaching them how to handle/accept rejection honorably
It’s always ”If i don’t get this, i’d rather destroy it or block way for another person.
The sense of entitlement in Nigeria is disturbing, people are walking around with undiagnosed mental/emotional disorders because of this.
