May we have children that bring us to public awareness for the right reasons – Alibaba celebrates a bright student of Queens’ College

Alibaba celebrates

Veteran Nigerian comedian, Alibaba, has taken to social media to pray for children who will bring us to public awareness for good reasons.

A secondary school is a higher place of learning above the primary school where teenage students are taught core subjects as well as ways of life.

In many high schools, there are different kinds of students, the ones who are known for doing controversial things and getting in trouble or the star pupils who continually make parents and the institution proud.

Just recently, veteran Nigerian comedian, Alibaba took to his social media page via Instagram to celebrate a bright and award-winning student of Queens’ College.

The comedian also used the opportunity to pray for people to have kids who will bring them public awareness for positive reasons.

This came after he posted the photo of the Queens’ College student who appeared to have won some money in an academic competition.

In his caption, Alibaba wrote:

“There are many more reasons to celebrate our young teenage girls and boys across the country. Those who do not have a reason to be in school, or have a different reason for being there, shouldn’t bring bad image to the others who are there. May we have children that bring us to public awareness for the right reasons.”

“Tacha did not get an endorsement deal with Ciroc”- Kemi Olunloyo reveals

Kemi Olunloyo reveals

Controversial investigative journalist, Kemi Olunloyo has debunked reports that Tacha signed an endorsement deal with Ciroc.

According to Kemi, it is only a PR stunt by Tacha and her management to gather more fans and create awareness.

Justifying her stand, Kemi said Ciroc would definitely allow anyone customize their bottles, and Tacha’s customized Ciroc bottles are mere gifts from the company, not an endorsement.

In her words;

“My second degree is Public Relations Management. We have something called PR Stunts. It’s used to create awareness for our clients. Tacha did not FaceTime Jack Dorsey nor sign a deal with Ciroc. It’s a customized gift set. No contract was signed”.

“Una dey mad o!” Mofe Duncan warns Nigerians against being rude to entertainers because there’s a “higher grace” attached to them

Mofe Duncan warns

Actor Mofe Duncan has warned Nigerians against being rude to entertainers. He went on to state that there is a “higher grace attached to” entertainers.

He called out people who derive joy in being rude to celebrities, adding that they have no idea what it’s like to walk in their shoes.

He wrote:

All you disrespectful lil shits that have no home training that feel that you can be rude to celebrities because you have the privilege of being on Instagram, una dey mad o! There is a higher grace attached to people who bring joy and happiness in one way or another to others, (especially via music and movies) and some people just decide they can repay such godly acts with rudeness and disrespect, una dey mad o! • Some of you have no idea what it is to walk in our shoes, we are not perfect, we are human, many love us and as thus many pray for us, but there are some of you that curse us, una dey mad o! • We bleed like regular humans, we have bad days like regular humans, we sweat like regular humans, we worked hard to get to where we are and some people just derive joy from pulling us down, una dey mad o! • Agreed, some celebrities misbehave and some deserve to be reminded that they are human, but ffs (for f*ck sake)… he who is without sin, cast the first stone! …no? …noone? …UNA DEY MAD O!

Babcock Video: Why The University Reserves The Right To Expel Student

Babcock Video

Babcock video has been a trending topic/search since yesterday.. thanks to two students who engaged in coitus and recorded the act.

Though the University in a statement released yesterday, said that the two students were expelled previously, and the video, an old one, was not recorded in the school’s premises. (See Here).

An interesting article by a Nairaland user explains why the university reserves the right to expel the students in the viral video;

Read below;

I have watched everyone react to the leaked video tape of an (EX) Babcock student. One thing I noticed is the recurring word- HYPOCRISY. Some also feel the sex was CONSENSUAL, not within the school premises or during session. So, Babcock has no right to EXPEL the student.

It might displease you to know that Babcock as an entity (a going concern), has that right to disassociate themselves from anyone or anything that brings them to DISREPUTE.

Right now it doesn’t matter to Babcock the location it took place, if it was consensual- got LEAKED or not. What matters to them is that they are currently being linked to it. That is bad publicity for the school.

I will like to introduce us all to a kind of risk in business – REPUTATIONAL RISK.

Reputation(al) risk is a threat or danger to the good name or standing of a business or entity.

It can occur in the following ways
-Directly, as the result of the actions of the organization itself.
-Indirectly, due to the actions of an employee or employees. In this case, staff and students.
-Tangentially, through other peripheral parties, such as joint venture partners or suppliers.

This risk can quickly spiral into liquidity risk but we won’t go into that today. Just know that organizations take it VERY SERIOUSLY.

You say it is not Babcock’s business, but this whole matter has been going on and not once has the name of the student been mentioned. Is it Babcock that had sex? The code word has been BABCOCK.

BABCOCK STUDENT CAUGHT ON VIDEO BLABLABLA…

Babcock has been trending on porn sites and social media pages for all the wrong reasons.

We sympathize with the girl for whatever trauma she is going through, but we should also understand Babcock had to do what is best for its reputation and BUSINESS.

-Lets also take a minute to think of what the school is going through. What of the girls in the school? Would they face possible stereotypes as swallowers?

To be sure I am not talking nonsense. I tried to get my admission letter, I couldn’t (probably tucked away somewhere), but I saw my employment letter. The attached image is an excerpt from it;

We know it is your personal life, but Igbos have an adage “mad man no get shame, na im people dey shame on im behalf” (paraphrased in English). So, while going about your personal life, think about the people you are associated with – family, friends, work, religious bodies…etc. Your actions goes a long way in affecting them- positively or negatively.

Please, as long as you can be IDENTIFIED and have it directly linked to you, think twice.

”Stop calling Tacha your daughter, she’s your client” – Kemi Olunloyo tells Teebillz

Controversial Journalist, Kemi Olunloyo has advised talent manager, Teebillz to keep his relationship with Tacha professional and as such, should stop calling her his daughter.

Kemi passed this message through her Instagram page and she stressed that in real life, Tacha is old enough to be his sister and not a daughter.

Her post reads ;

PR TIP FOR TACHA AKIDE

My second degree is a FIRST CLASS in Public Relations Management. USA’s renowned @gouchercollege school of Public Relations.
In PR, you must maintain professional relationships to properly portray your client to the media. PR is NOT promotion. Some Publicists take up management roles and vice versa but looking at @teebillz323 who many in the industry has professed that his relationship with Tacha Akide will “end in tears” according to Joy, should keep it strictly professional. Tunji this is a $500 advise I’m giving you FREE. This is the same problem I have with Nigerians at home. Calling me Aunty, Mummy etc. No more familiarity and disrespecting my children who mummy is reserved for. Tacha is your CLIENT, Stop calling her “my daughter” in a management scenario. In real life she’s old enough to be your sister not close to your daughter. But take this girl International and stop calling her “my daughter”. Her fanbase ONLINE are really trying to bring her down but none of you see that yet. Good Luck

Babcock University finally reacts to trending video

Babcock University finally reacts

The management of Babcock University has come out to speak on the leaked video where two of its former students were seen having sex.

The ex-students of the missionary school were caught on camera having sex in what appears to be a clinic.

While the incident seemed to have taken place some months back, the video was leaked on social media on Tuesday and it instantly went viral.

In a statement issued on Wednesday evening, Joshua Suleiman, the varsity’s director, communication and marketing, said the persons involved in the sex tape are no longer students of the institution.

According to him, “the boy was expelled from the school in February this year”, while his girlfriend was asked to leave the school shortly after the video broke out some months ago.

“The video above referred is, unfortunately, a sad commentary on the moral decadence that has assailed our society at large, a manner of behaviour that is alien and antithetical to the value of our university. It is not worth a tinge of fascination, but a ground of great concern for all,” the statement read.

“The boy in the video was expelled from Babcock University in February this year after investigation and the due process proved that he was into certain grievous misconducts, the acts for which the university has zero-tolerance.

“His girlfriend in the same video, until the video broke out, a third-year student of accounting of this university. After due process, she was expelled from the university for violation of university rules and regulations.

“The place where the immoral act took place, according to her written statement, was at Saint Bridget Hospital, Abeokuta, Ogun State, where the boy has been undergoing rehabilitation for different destructive addictions. According to the girl, the incident took place in April this year during school vacation when she visited the boy at the hospital. The act did not take place at Babcock University.

“Babcock University remains committed to the highest moral standards and would remain a standard-bearer for quality education in standard character, learning and in service to humanity. We are happy to be saddled with this challenge as an institution because it propels us to contribute to the greatness of this nation and the security of a bright future for our children.”

AKA, South Africans reacts after organizers cancel Burna Boy’s concert

Just days before Burna Boy was set to perform in South Africa, organizers have announced that he has been withdrawn and the concerts in Cape Town and Tshwane cancelled.

In a media statement issued today, organisers said that after extensive engagement with Burna Boy’s management team, they had decided to withdraw the Nigerian artist from the concert and cancel the shows.

They said the decision to cancel the shows came after warnings of a shutdown from a group of artists and event organisers under the umbrella of Tshwane Entertainment Collective.

“The decision to cancel the Africans Unite Concert comes after the call from the Tshwane Entertainment Collective to boycott the Africans Unite concert in Tshwane.

With the increasing threats of violence from other unfortunate segments of the public and without any government intervention, Phambili Media and Play Network Africa were prompted to take the threats and warnings seriously, as the safety of all artists and attendees could not be guaranteed.

We then decided to cancel the concert. The safety of all attendees, artists and crew comes first.”

Burna Boy’s inclusion on the line-up was widely criticised after rapper, AKA took to social media to lead a campaign against him.

Babcock University expels student

The Babcock Female student (identity withheld) in the viral sex tape that has gone viral on social media, has reportedly been expelled by the school authority.

The video, which was reportedly released without the consent of the lady and appears to show her and a man in sexual liaison, was said to have been filmed at a rehabilitation center, in which the male participant in the sexual activity had been sent to by the school for alleged drug addiction.

The faith-based institution was founded by the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Nigeria and is reputably stringent with issues of morality, and explicitly forbids male and female relations.

Here’s another version of the story.

“It’s been a long 7 years. A lot has transpired in my life since my debut album ‘Genesis’, and I, David Adeleke (aka Davido) have gone through a process of immense changes and growth. In sad times I lost close family and friends (RIP) and in my happiest times I’ve created lives (Imade, Hailey & David Jr). I fell in love and got engaged to my PHENOMENAL fiancé, Chioma. I’ve fought battles of all kinds and on all fronts: spiritual, physical, mental, emotional even political. With less than 48 hours left of the 7 year wait for the album of the century; A Good Time reflects on the ability to trust the timing of your life, enjoying the best moments & persevering through the worst ones. There’s no time like the present and it’s A Good Time to be alive, to be a PROUD AFRICAN and to fight for the freedom of one another – in unity. This is my album cover art and it reflects the culmination of my 7 year journey in audio/visual form, I present to you, “A Good Time”. OUT Nov 22!!!”

See her post below:

Good Luck

If Christians can whip out their bible anytime, why can’t I wear my juju – Media personality, Somizi

Somizi

South African media personality, Somizi who took to Instagram to show off his traditional charm ‘Sphandla’ questioned the rationale behind hiding it.

Somizi said his eyes has been opened while still on earth and he has never been happier. He questioned why Christians can easily bring out their Bible while he is expected to hide his traditional charm which aids in his worship.

He wrote “So one day many moons ago……someone who’s not African woke up and said I’m gonna convince all Africans that this is evil…..this dark……this is a myth………coz they realized how stronger how powerful how wise how free how happy and how rich we wud be if we practiced our own culture…..and convinced us that if we do it we must hide it……..

“I’m so glad my eyes got opened whilst I’m still on this earth……I’ve never been happier…..I’ve never been this free…..this pic right here is who I proudly am…..oh I am.so proud….I’m not ashamed anymore….I dont hide anymore……I live by imphepho and everything u see in that pic…….if Indians can proudly and boldly light up incense anywhere anytime why can’t I…..if Christians can unashamedly whip out their bible anytime anywhere why can’t I wear my sphandla with no shame….all I’m saying is do u boo as long as u dont look down or disrespect my culture and tradition just as much as I shud do the same unto yoz…..thokoza….

As a result, both legs of the concert which were set to take place on the November 23 at Hillcrest Quarry, Cape Town and November 24 at Sun Arena, Pretoria have now been cancelled.

According to a statement from Phambili Media, the decision to cancel the Africans Unite Concert comes after the call from the Tshwane Entertainment Collective to boycott the “Africans Unite”concert in Tshwane.

The statement reads ;

“With the increasing threats of violence from other unfortunate segments of the public and without any government intervention, Phambili Media and Play Network Africa were prompted to take the threats and warnings seriously, as the safety of all artists and attendees could not be guaranteed. We then decided to cancel the concert. The safety of all attendees, artists and crew comes first”.

“We do, however, stand behind our decision for the initial inclusion of Burna Boy in the Africans Unite Concert line-up. As one of artists at the centre stage of the xenophobic attacks uproar, we saw fit to engage him to be a part of the Africans Unite campaign that aims to ultimately change the current negative narrative to that of solidarity and unity. It seems we have failed in this regard”.
