In fact, a popular joke is often shared on the internet about a Nigerian prince looking to dispose of the bulk of wealth he has – a well known line used to capture the attention of victims who end up being defrauded of their hard-earned money.
While security and anti-graft agencies try their hardest to combat the crime by arresting the criminals, internet scams are still very much carried out and sometimes, even glorified by some celebrities.

In a world full of single mothers and unmarried women, it’s probably unfathomable why on earth a woman would shun a marriage proposal.
It is presumably what any woman would jump at but it seems this does not apply to budding Nollywood actress, Olive Utalor, who turned down a marriage proposal from her fiancée of many years. Her reason? The proposal did not come with a car for her.
“On my birthday last year he promised me a car and now he wants me, Olive Utalor to get married to him without a car, it’s not proper. I don’t care if he has supported me through school. I can’t be trekking under the sun when I am somebody ‘s wife. He should go and look for his class,” the actress blurted out in a chat when Potpourri reached her to find out why she rejected a marriage proposal.
It was gathered that the proposal was made by the fiance, who is a civil servant, a primary school teacher to be precise, on his birthday expecting his girlfriend would be pleasantly surprised and accept but her reaction so much disconcerted him that he contemplated taking his own life. In fact, he was said to have stood on a road perplexed, waiting for any car to run into him.
The whole scene had taken place on a busy working day at a shopping mall in Asaba, Delta State before gaping eyes of many passers-by. The heartbroken boyfriend had thought he had everything perfectly planned and the timing just right, so, rejection was the last thing on his mind but his sweetheart of many years had other ideas.
“I can’t pretend that he is right for me. Yes, he saw me through the early stages of my tertiary education but that doesn’t mean we are right for each other. If he cannot get me a car there can be marriage. I’m not being callous, I’m just being true to myself,” she said smugly.

Blessing has revealed that she started having sex at the age of 14 and also got married and divorced while still in university .
According to Okoro Blessing, the man she started having sex with at the age of 14 and eventually dated for 4 years before they got married was `10 years older than her.
The relationship blogger who further claimed that Onye Eze who she had a face-off with over a ‘stolen house’ was arrested, further shared a video to back her claim.
She further added that the man who handcuffed her at Onye Eze’s house, was on his knees begging when he got arrested alongside Onye Eze.
Daddy Freeze shared the video with the caption;
“I started dating at 14….. I got married and divorced while still in the university….. Onyeze was invited by the police for questioning, the man who handcuffed me was on his knees begging.”
Hanan, the lady who brutally stabbed her husband, Saeed Hussein at their home, 7 months after their wedding in Kano State has said she did so in self-defense.
According to her neighbors, Hanan who was found with a swollen face and bruises all over her body, had been tolerating her husband who allegedly tortured her at the slightest opportunity.
Another neighbor stated that Hanan said her husband tried beating her up on the day of the incident despite knowing that she was pregnant.
She said it was while she was protecting herself as her husband tried attacking her with a knife, that it mistakenly pierced into his body.
Hussain was rushed to the hospital after the incident.

A video is currently trending online, and it shows a Nigerian Lady revealing that she prefers to date married men instead of single guys.
The lady whose identity cannot be verified said the reasons for her action owns to the fact that married men give her peace of mind and are much more romantic than the latter guys.
According to the lady, single guys have a whole lot to learn from married men. In the video, the lady is seen brushing her fixed hair and she makes bold her choice of men in a way that shows what she is saying.

A Nigerian man is currently in critical condition at the Aminut Teaching Hospital in Kano State, after his wife allegedly stabbed him with a knife.
The man identified as Saeed Hussain was rushed to the hospital last night Friday June 21st after his wife of seven months, Hanan, allegedly stabbed him with a knife during a heated argument.
Hussain who is graduate of Law from the Bayero University in Kano syaye, got married to Hanan in December last year.
They had a misunderstanding in their home in Kano last night which degenerated into a fight. Hanan during the fight stabbed him in the face. She has since been arrested.
“I was just informed of the unfortunate incidence that happened to our friend and brother Saeed Hussain . He was stabbed with a knife by his wife Hanan last night. Pease include him in your prayers. He is presently receiving medical treatment at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.”
Nigerian football legend and former assistant manager of the Nigeria national football team, Daniel Omokachi is celebrating his twin sons, Nazim and Kalim, who both turned a year older today.

One Prophet Jacob Ade Farinmade, the head of Celestial Church of Christ, Gospec Mission, Mosan, Ipaja, Lagos, has been arrested for allegedly killing a female undergraduate he impregnated.
The 72-year-old suspect allegedly secretly buried Bunmi after she died during childbirth and he didn’t inform her parents. The deceased was said to have been taken by her father to live with her mother, following her rustication in 200 level at Babcock University in 2014.
Bunmi’s mother, Derayo Omisipi, thereafter took her to Farinmade for spiritual deliverance and protection.
According to The Nation, the cleric, who already had more than 10 wives, took advantage of Bunmi’s stay in his church for the purported deliverance, to lure her to bed and impregnated her.
It was learnt that the cleric did not allow the deceased to attend any antenatal clinic throughout the duration of her pregnancy. The cleric onlybroke the news of the girl’s death to her mother after he had buried her in a shallow grave near his church premises.
The father of the deceased became curious after her mother could not offer satisfactory explanation about her whereabouts. He later reported the matter to the police and the cleric was arrested.
An ex-policeman, Ogwu Christian, has been arrested for allegedly killing his fiancée’s mother, Veronica Obiejieogo, over the cancellation of their wedding date.
Christian reportedly shot the 45-year-old woman dead at short range while she was walking along a street in : her village in Delta State. He thereafter fled the scene on a motorcycle.
City Round learnt that his wedding to Obiejieogo’s daughter, Blessing, had been fixed for December 27, 2018.
He had reportedly given Blessing money to buy clothes and some other items they would use on that day.
Few days to the ceremony, it was learnt that 39-year-old Christian noticed that Blessing was evasive as he no longer got updates on the wedding plans from her.
City Round gathered that when it became clear that the wedding would not hold as scheduled, Christian went to Blessing’s village in Otolokpo and killed her mother, whom he accused of cancelling the event.
He relocated to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, afterwards.
It was gathered that operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team went after Christian following a petition to the IGP, Mohammed Adamu, on the incident.
After months of tracking him, the suspect was arrested recently in Port Harcourt, while he allegedly was about to carry out a fraudulent deal.
The police said Christian, who was dismissed from the Force in 2005, had been parading himself as a senior officer to defraud members of the public and policemen seeking promotion.
Super Eagles forward, Samuel Kalu, on Friday suffered a heart attack during their training in Egypt, just a day before the Nigeria’s AFCON opener.
According to reports, the 21-year-old player collapsed while taking a corner during training and has been transported to a local hospital. He has since been confirmed ‘okay’ and ‘stabilised’.
Nigeria Football Federation media chief, Demola Olajire confirmed the situation, but added that the Bordeaux winger has been advised to drink more water.
“I have been told Samuel Kalu has been stabilised. He was taken to hospital for tests and he is certified okay. He was dehydrated, they said. Told him he needs to be taking enough fluids,” Olaajire said.
Samuel Kalu has made just five appearances for the Eagles since making his debut in 2018 and has scored one goal in the process.

Operatives of the special task force of the Uyo Zonal Office of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday June 20, 2019, made a harvest of eleven suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as ‘Yahoo Boys’ in an apartment on Parliamentary Extension, Akai Efa, Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
The all male suspects are: Endurance Ahunwan (28), Nohuwan Frank (26), Dominic Chidiebere (28), Idehe Efosa (17), Patrick Edos (27), Samuel Ukiwe (21) and Michael Edward 25. Others are: Destiny Efe (17), Hope Yusuf (19), Harrison Esi (17) and Igbinigun Osamudia (17).
Seventeen-year-old Esi was found hiding in the roof of the apartment along with some of their tools of operation. According to him, their leader, Ahunwan instructed him to conceal himself and the gadgets in the roof in order to prevent his arrest and confiscation of the tools.
“Our leader ordered me to hide in the ceiling with the gadgets so that I will not be nabbed also,” Esi said.
Upon arrest, Ahunwan the prime suspect, confessed that he recruited the team, saying they were paying back Europeans for stealing from their forefathers. He also alleged that the parents of the arrested accomplices gave their consent and pleaded with him to help their children secure a means of livelihood.
Items recovered from the suspected fraudsters include: 10 laptops, eight internet modems, several sophisticated telephone handsets, including one iphone, technical devices and scam emails. Similarly, seven suspected internet fraudsters were on Friday, June 21, 2019 arrested by officers of the Kaduna Zonal Office of the Commission.
The suspects, whose age ranged between 20 and 33 years were apprehended around 5a.m in an apartment along Ihejirika Close, Becky, Karu, Nasarawa State. They include: Peter Olu Tsetimi, Ogunbiyi Adekunle A, Emuze Omosigho Emmanuel and Isaac Daro Obozokhai.
Others are: Samuel Nana-Kofi Eruese, Edward Yusuf and Peace Manayin (female).
The suspected internet fraudsters held sway around Mararaba, Nyanya and Karu axis of Nasarawa State and Federal Capital Territory, FCT. One of the suspects poses as an engineer with Exxon Mobil, the others also use false identities to defraud unsuspecting people within and outside Nigeria.
Items recovered from them include expensive watches and necklaces, expensive phones, tablets, laptops and several fraudulent documents. All the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
Flight FA411, from Durban to Johannesburg, had to be delayed on Friday morning after a foetus was discovered in the plane’s toilet.
In a statement, FlySafair stated that authorities were immediately alerted and arrived on the scene to investigate.
“Upon final checks of the waste management system, our teams encountered a finding which requires formal investigation from technical teams and police authorities. The issue has unfortunately meant that the aircraft would be unable to operate this flight,” read the statement.
Provincial SAPS spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbele said the foetus was discovered in the early hours of Friday.
“A case of concealment of birth has been opened,” she added.
While FlySafair would not comment on the findings, it said its teams were working with the relevant parties to initiate a backup plan.

It was a sad moment in Hawaii as a light aircraft crashed in the country, killing at least nine people on board, officials say.
The twin-engine aircraft went down close to Dillingham Airfield near Mokuleia in Honolulu County. There were no survivors from the King Air flight, the Hawaii Department of Transportation tweeted.
Photos showed smoke billowing from miles away. It is not yet clear if the plane was taking off or landing. “Right now, the initial report is that there were nine souls on board,” an official told Hawaii News Now. “There’s no survivors.”
The Honolulu Fire Department said that they received reports of a downed plane at around 6:30 pm on Friday. According to its website, Dillingham Airfield is a joint-use site with the US army having first priority for air-land operations and helicopter night-vision training.

A new video shared online shows the sickening moment a man kicked an airline employee to the ground after she refused to pose for a second selfie with him and his friends during a drunken attack at an airport.
Le Thi Giang, who works for budget carrier Vietjet Air, had already been in one photograph with the trio at Tho Xuan Airport in the Thanh Hoa province of northern Vietnam. But when they asked her to pose with them for another selfie in the departure lounge, she politely declined, explaining she was on duty.
The three men – Le Van Nhi, 41, Le Trung Dung, 34, and Pham Huu An, 28 – then launched a savage attack on Ms Giang, slapping and kicking her to the floor.
The footage shows one of the men kicking her on her hip as she faces the other way, sending her falling to the floor, while his friends look on. After her colleagues and security officials approach, a scuffle ensues, during which another man in the trio punches a male member of staff before stumbling to the ground.
The three men, who witnesses said were drunk, were eventually subdued by security guards and taken to a local police station where they were charged with public disorder.
All three have now been jailed at Thanh Hoa Province court. Nhi faces a three-year prison sentence; Dung, two years and 10 months; and An, one year and 10 months.
The Osun state police command have arrested a fake doctor, 30-year-old Rafiu Naheem, pictured below, in Osun state.
A statement from the command’s spokesperson, Adekunle Ajisebutu, discloses that Naheem had been operating an unregistered clinic in a one-bedroom mud apartment in Inisa, Odo Otin Local Government Area of Osun State, treating unsuspecting patients of different ailments until recently when he was apprehended.
Ajisebutu stated that Intelligence at the command’s disposal had it that the suspect had been placing patients on admission, and had been procuring abortions and handling very complex medical conditions he lacked professional expertise on, thereby endangering the lives of residents in the area who patronise him.
“The suspect, a school certificate holder, who could barely speak good English, and without a formal training, had been operating an unregistered clinic in a one-bedroom mud apartment, treating unsuspecting patients of different ailments.
When a search was conducted in his illegal ‘clinic’ located in a filthy environment at Inisa area, Odo Otin Local Government Area of Osun State, the following items were recovered: stethoscope, sphygmomanometer (blood pressure gauge), drips, injection and syringes, circumcision set, HCG Pregnancy Rapid Test (urine) Accurate, scalpel and other theater instruments, thermometer, analgesic and assorted drugs.
While appreciating our strategic partners, who gave the hint that led to the arrest of the suspect, the AIG Zone XI, Adeleye Oyebade, mni, urged members of the public to be wary of quacks masquerading as medical doctors, to save themselves from avoidable death. The AIG has consequently directed that the suspect should be arraigned in court immediately without delay”, the statement read
