Billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola has offered to foot the medical bills of Christian Chukwu, former Super Eagles’ coach, TheCable reports.
Chukwu, one of Nigeria’s most influential footballers in history who captained the national team to their first Africa Cup of Nations title in 1980, is suffering from prostate cancer which has affected his leg.
Although the surgery on his leg has been done, he reportedly needs an additional $50,000 for the prostate operation.
Norbert Okonkwo, media officer of Enugu Rangers, told TheCable that the Enugu state government donated N1.5 million for the leg surgery.
In the first two days, a GoFundMe appeal raised $4,305 of the $50,000 needed for further treatment.
Speaking to TheCable on phone, Otedola said he would foot the entire cost of the operation as a “token of support to a great Nigerian who served his country to the best of his ability”.
Otedola previously settled the medical bills of the veteran actor, Victor Olaotan, who was at risk of double amputation following a ghastly car accident in 2016.
A patron of Chukwu’s former club, Enugu Rangers FC, Benson Ezeomeogo Ejindu, broke the news of the ailment at the weekend.
Chukwu also captained the Enugu Rangers FC team that won the Africa Cup Winners’ Cup in 1977.
He was nicknamed ‘Chairman’ for his authority on the field as a central defender.

The management of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Imo State, has finally confirmed that three out of the four students, who died at the Sunshine Castle Hostel, Ihiagwa, after allegedly taking tramadol and Indian hemp, were its students.
The Public Relations Officer, FUTO, Uche Nwelue, said after investigation, the university was able to identify three of the victims as students of the university.
She said checks in the school’s student data system confirmed that the three males, who allegedly took part in the sex orgy at the hostel near the institution, were students of FUTO.
The university’s spokesperson said,
“I can now confirm to you that all the three boys, who took part in the alleged sex incident after an alleged drug overdose, were students of the university.
“The only female among them is not our student; she is from the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede. That is the true situation of things as it concerns the studentship of the victims.”
Asked what the university would do now that it had confirmed that three out of the four students were from the institution, Nwelue stated, “The university is actually handicapped as it relates to this matter.
“The incident happened outside of the campus of the university. We do not have control over their lifestyle outside the campus. Moreover, the school has rules and regulations guarding every student here.
“If any of them breaks it, we will punish him/her once he/she comes back to school. But beyond this, parents should watch their children and encourage them to live in hostels on the campus. It will make them to be more serious and dedicated to their studies.”
A Nigerian girl identified as Adeola, shared how she lost her boyfriend, Nkem, of 1 and a half years to the cold hands of codeine abuse.
A twitter user, @wakandascholar – her friend, took her story to social media. She explained that the pain that she felt had caused her to black out when she heard the doctor announce his death.
“Have you ever felt pain so searing that you had no choice but to black out? You had to go blank because the pain was cutting off your breathing. This was me 2 years ago, when I found out that my boyfriend had just died of codeine overdose.”
She remembers kissing him goodbye on the morning of that fateful day as she left for work, not knowing that she would never see him alive again.
“He had one of the popular cough syrups in front of him, there was an empty bottle of vodka under the table and a cup of coloured liquid in his hand. I teased him about his constant drinking of the ‘Purple drink’ and he smiled cheekily and shooed me off. I laughed out of the door. That was the worst decision of my life – to laugh and walk away!”
As she discussed her lament, Nana clarified that her sweetheart was not addicted.
“He wasn’t addicted. He never misbehaved when he drank. We both knew it was just a fad that would pass. He was an ‘experimenter’ of some sorts”.
“I should have taken that cup from him that morning. I would do anything to go back to that morning. Do you want to know what is worse than the searing pain that chokes me? Regret. Regret is horrible when you can do nothing about it.”

Philippine President, Rodrigo Duterte has publicly come out to brag about the size of his penis and sexual prowess.
The 74-year-old politician made his bizarre claims while speaking at a public rally which took place at the Puerto Princesa City Coliseum in Palawan.
According to the SunUK, he started off by boasting how he has a very impressive member which “points all the way up.”
Duterte then added a man’s good looks count for nothing if he doesn’t measure up. That’s why, he explained, he would have been furious if God had given him a smaller penis.
“If God gave me a small penis, I would have cut it in front of the altar,” he said, drawing laughs from the crowd.
“Son of a b*tch, is this all you have given me?”
He then told how when he lived at the YMCA in Manila as a student he would walk around butt naked and drew admiration from other residents staring at his penis size.
“My towel, I won’t (wrap it around me). I will just walk towards them (naked) – they would admire me. (They’d tell me) ‘Son of a b*tch, Duterte, you’re so hard!’”
He added,
“When I was young, (my penis) almost looked up to the sky.”
Duterte then moved his microphone up and pointed it all the way to the ceiling at the Puerto Princesa City Coliseum in Palawan and said that his penis was so upright that the top would almost reach his belly button.
The leader added:
“I’m very thankful to my father. At least he let me out into the world highly-equipped.”
Duterte then recalled visiting a place which he simply described as full of women.
“They ran away. ‘We don’t like him. That skinny guy. He won’t stop (having sex).”
The National Co-Ordinator of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, N-YES, Alhaji Kabiru Muhammad Garkuwa, married two wives last Saturday, April 6 in Jos, Plateau State capital.

Everline Namukhula, who delivered quintuplets in Shisokhe village, Navakholo sub-county Kakamega county Kenya, has been reported dead.
The 28 year old mother lost her life on Sunday, April 7, at the Moi teaching and referral Hospital Eldoret, after complaining of chest pains the previous night.
Late Everline, who had four other children, gave birth to three girls and two boys through a Caesarean Section, last month.
The house wife was married to a deaf husband Emmanuel Wanjala, who is a casual labourer in the village.
“I am so happy and grateful to God for having given me these five children at a go. I am now having a total of nine children because I have four others at home with my first born who is 10 years old in class two,” Ms Namukhula had said after delivery.
Late Everline had vowed to stop further pregnancies saying she is not able to fend for the growing number of children.
Ms Namukhula said she experienced labour pains and went to Navakholo sub-county hospital where she used to attend antenatal clinic. She had expected to give birth to one child–her fifth.
“In one of the clinic sessions, I was told I was carrying three children. I never expected to deliver five children,” she narrated from her hospital bed at the maternity wing.
She was transferred from Navakholo hospital to the County Referral Hospital after it was discovered that she was carrying more than three children.
Dr Githinji Ndung’u, one of the doctors who assisted her deliver the five children said they received a referral from Navakholo on Tuesday at about 5pm with a woman suspected to be carrying three children.
“On examination, we realized they were more than three and were in the wrong way. We were forced to conduct a caesarian birth at 8pm and we realized that she was carrying five children,” said Dr Githinji.
He confirmed that the children plus their mother were in good health condition. The children are under incubation in the new born unit.
The children weighed between 1.2kgs and 1.6kgs, instead of the 3.5kg which is required of a normal baby at birth.
Ms Namukhula had appealed to well-wishers to help her fend for the children saying her husband was deaf with no stable employment to sustain the family.
“We are financially challenged but God has blessed us with this high number of children. I request the government, leaders and well-wishers come to our aid so that we cater for them.”
Kakamega county health executive Rachael Okumu, who visited the mother in the hospital, promised to enroll the family on a one-year full premium of the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF).
“The mother will also be put under the Oparanya Care maternal health programme that sees new mothers take home Sh2,000 after child birth and a similar amount every time they visit the hospital to vaccinate their kids,” said Ms Okumu.
She asked the hospital to attach the mother to the nearest Navakholo sub-county hospital for clinical checks and monitoring of the health of both the mother and the children.

A Nigerian couple, Sozo and Joshua, who tied the knots last weekend, has people sniffing and passing tissues on social media with their really amazing and emotional love story.
The story resonates the fact that true love wins in all circumstances – without saying much, read their story below and be sure to have a tissue by your side if you’re really an emotional person.
Oh! And enjoy their lovely marital photos too as you read…
I met Sozo around September 2015. My cousin had just come visiting from Abuja to Zaria where I was with my mum. Apparently, my cousin Eka had come with Sozo and another friend of hers. I saw Sozo but at first, she wasn’t my kind of girl, looked annoying, had little bow legs and looked too serious. I think I still had my head up in the clouds so I didn’t see her well. Well, I came back to Abuja much later and met her again and we became friends. We built a real friendship from there. I thought it was time I got serious with my relationship so I took out time to pray about my life partner. I had conviction and I simply got a ring.
On the 25th of December same year, I came over to her and simply slipped a ring into it without her consent. Well, we were so real as friends, so she laughed and we flowed like that. We grew to like ourselves too much before we fell in love. We simply were so real and true with ourselves. Around October, we travelled to Jos to see her mum who was battling breast cancer then (we eventually lost her).
While, Sozo and I were with her and I thought it was time to slip the second ring. I went on my knees in the hospital and asked her to marry me in front of her mother after her mother had finished teasing me that I was behaving like an expecting hen when she saw my restlessness before proposing. We needed to be back to Abuja for an exam and catch up on some programs. On our way back, just an hour into Abuja at Kagarko, we had an accident. It was a public vehicle but we three -Sozo, my cousin (the same cousin as above) and I were seated at the back. The driver was a bit unstable and we had warned him. Some minutes after, in the bid of trying to avoid an oncoming truck overtaking another truck against our lane and avoid a collision, the car tumbled several times and that was it.
Sozo sustained multiple hip fractures which kept her on the bed for three months. My cousin had a femur fracture and is now better. But I had a spinal compression on my c5c6. I went through surgery and subsequently sustained a bed sore of 7cm deep and 5cm wide and 7cm long. I was transferred from the National hospital to Zaria teaching hospital. As soon as Sozo dropped her crutches, she came over to be with me and has since been nursing me from January 2017 till date.
Sozo has stood by me till date, she has been my strength, my courage, my push to keep my will going and she has this unwavering belief that I’d walk again. She never doubted not once and I strongly believe I will. I marvel at her strength. I know God is her source of energy. Even after her going through a lot, losing her mum, her jobs, her home, she kept her life at a pause, just to help me back up and it is mind-blowing. If the world celebrates her, I would be fulfilled. She is my light. So I call her “Meira meaning “Light”. I call her “Oluwatumininu” meaning “God has given me a soothing relief for my soul”.
I love her and she deserves the best. Getting married to her was a step of faith and proof of love and God made it a glorious and unforgettable experience. We trust God that things will and are getting better even as we start a new home despite all odds. Truth is, life is not about conditions but the positions that we create for ourselves. We may have as well decided to keep looking at the condition and stay sad and discouraged but knowing that where focus goes, energy flows, we didn’t allow our condition to determine our position.

The public memorial service for the late Slain rapper, Nipsey Hussle will be held at Staples Centre on Thursday.
His family reportedly chose the 21,000 seat venue to accommodate a massive crowd that will be attending.
The Los Angeles rapper, whose real name was Ermias Davidson Asghedom was one of three men shot outside his clothing store in the Hyde Park neighbourhood of LA.
He was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the other two men are in stable condition.
A 29-year-old suspect, Eric Holder, who allegedly carried out the fatally shooting on Hussle has been arrested.
Holder is currently being held in solitary confinement, where he would be all alone and would not be allowed to mingle with the general population because they believed he is a target.
NAN reports that Nipsey was outspoken about his experience with street violence and described growing up in gang culture in his Crenshaw neighbourhood of South Los Angeles as “living in a war zone.”
Those struggles informed his music but also his philanthropy, particularly in Crenshaw where he is revered as a hero and pillar of the community.
In 2018, Nipsey launched his ‘Too Big to Fail” initiative in collaboration with Vector 90, a STEM centre and co-working space for youth in the Crenshaw district that serves as a bridge between the inner cities and Silicon Valley.
He opened the centre a day before the release of his Grammy-nominated 16-song debut album, Victory Lap.
The hip hop star envisioned expanding the Vector 90 project beyond LA to other cities across the U.S., including Baltimore, Washington D.C. and Atlanta, where kids from inner cities could explore alternative paths to success.
