According to a report by Punch, a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Dr Olisa Agbakoba (SAN), said on Tuesday that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration is the worst in the history of Nigeria.
Agbakoba, who is one of the leaders of the National Intervention Movement, described the last four years under Buhari as locust years, saying the Coalition of United Political Parties were determined to save the country by bringing Buhari’s reign to an end.
He described Buhari’s re-election mantra of “Next Level,” as a failed document and one lacking in “conceptual overhang”.
Agbakoba, who rated the campaign document of the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, better than Buhari’s, said were the presidential election to hold today, Atiku would win, while Buhari would come “distant second”.
He, however, expressed the fear that Buhari, if defeated, might not be willing to relinquish power, decrying the presence of the service chiefs at the launch of Buhari’s re-election campaign on Sunday.
The lawyer spoke with journalists in his Ikoyi, Lagos office on Tuesday morning.
He said;
“We clearly understand that to win the forthcoming elections, we require a united opposition. So, all the parties are simply presenting their presidential candidates but by January, the CUPP will formalise its consensus candidate.
“It may well be Atiku or it may not but the person who will be chosen must be one who has the heavy-lifting, who can get the job done.
“Personally, I’m pro-Atiku because I think he has the heavy-lifting but I will not preempt anything.
“We are all united in the mantra and the strong song around our campaign; that is: Anybody but Buhari. That’s the campaign – Anybody but Buhari.
“We are making sure that the four locust years from 2015 to 2019 will never repeat themselves in Nigeria. This has been the worst government in Nigeria’s history.
“Unemployment rate at 20 million, youth unemployment is so high, inflation at about 18 per cent, borrowing requirement or interest rate at about 22 per cent; nothing is working. So, we need to do something to reclaim it.
“So, that’s the message; we are working with the united opposition party, which we now have. Obasanjo’s own is called ADC, I am affiliated to the Peoples Trust and all of these come under the umbrella of the third force.”

“The children were questioned by their respective mums and they confessed that the suspect had been having anal sex with them. The matter was thereafter reported for investigation at the Gender Section of the command,” Oti added.

However, a lot of people also came to his defence and pointed out that people grieve differently.
A Romanian gypsy wedding between an eight-year-old girl and a ten-year-old boy has sparked outrage on social media.
A footage that was taken moments before the ceremony began in Dolj County shows the young girl surrounded by older women making final touches to her oversized frock.
The girl, 8, appears confident in the huge sparkly pink gown ahead of her wedding
Donning a pink sparkly gown, the young girl can be seen delicately touching her long ringlets as a local singer gets the crowd going.
The groom can be seen dancing along to the folk music, with his pals by his side, appearing to boost his confidence.
The singer calls on the groom and tells him to: “Leave the toys aside, today you’ve married your bride.”
The young groom appeared in high spirits as the singer told him to ditch his toys
Seconds later, the bride is propelled onto a stool, for all to gaze at her gown which appears to be of an adult size.
Appearing confident, the girl poses as the women continue to pamper her and sew her into the dress.
The footage attracted a number of disapproving comments when posted online.
One user, Don Vochin, insisted it was not a legally binding wedding.
He claimed the official ceremony would take place when the youngsters are older.
According to the UN Office of the High Commissioner on Human Rights, a number of Romanian communities practice “early marriage”.
Women sew the girl into the oversized gown so it doesn’t move during the wedding
Until 2007 the minimum age for marriage was different for men and women; 18-year-old men could marry and 16-year-old women could marry.
And for valid reasons the Local Council could approve a 15-year-old to marry if accepted by an “official physician”.
This gathering was a cultural ceremony celebrating the promise of marriage.
The young pair wouldn’t be expected to have sex and would almost certainly continue living with their families for years to come.
It comes after a similar event took place in Galati, where an eight-year-old and a seven-year-old married back in 2011.
After an investigation, local officials said they would not pursue charges as the marriage was not legally registered at the town hall.
Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday, insisted that there is no fight between him and the current Governor Akinwumi Ambode.
Sanwo-Olu who was obviously referring to recent scathing remarks about him by the governor, said they were getting on well.
He also disclosed that the goal is for him and his possible-predecessor to work for the progress of the state.
“On the ‘Ambode issue,’ let me state it here that there is no ‘Ambode issue.’ He is my governor. We are one party and our goals are the same. A better and greater Lagos is our challenge.
“There is no rancour. We meet. We talk. We are clear about what Lagos needs to excel and that is our collective goal,” Sanwo-Olu tweeted.
Recall The incumbent Governor of Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode, had accepted defeat in his efforts to become APC’s 2019 Lagos governorship candidate.
Ambode made the announcement on Wednesday during a very brief media address broadcast by Lagos television.
Everton youngster, Ademola Lookman, who was born in England to parents from Nigeria, has snubbed his home country to play for the English side.
The young footballer of Nigerian Descent reportedly pledged his future to England after holding face-to-face talks with Under-21 head coach Aidy Boothroyd over stories linking him to Nigeria.
This comes weeks after Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr who is preparing his squad for next summer’s Africa Cup of Nations said he ‘wanted to change his mind so he can play for us as he will add something to our team’.
England Under-21 head coach Aidy Boothroyd confirmed on Tuesday evening the youngster who was part of the Under-20 squad that won the World Cup in 2017 has pledged his future to his birth country.
“Every time I see him I have a little joke with him about it,’ said Boothroyd. ‘I say: “Why would you want to leave us?”
‘But he’s very focused on England – that’s what he tells me. He says he wants to play international football for England.’
Speaking Lookman’s difficult year after moving to Germany to join RB Leipzig on loan before returning back Everton, Aidy said:
‘He’s had a tough time of it, but he’s been better recently,’ said Boothroyd. ‘He got himself into a state over summer when he didn’t know where he would be playing or if he would be moving or not. Now he has just got his head around the fact that wherever it is he is playing, he has to play well.
‘He has told himself “I just have to focus on me” which is right. When you look at Dominic Solanke, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Tammy Abraham, Reiss Nelson, Ryan Sessegnon and Ademola, we have some real attacking talent.’

A seven-year-old boy identified as, Monday Ajeh, is currently writhing in pain in a hospital in Nasarawa state after suspected cultisits abducted him and plucked out his eyeballs in Agaza village in Keana Local Government Area of the state.
According to reports, the suspected cultists invaded the village in the night and abducted the little boy last Thursday, November 15th.
His father, 47 year old Agadi Ajeh, said himself and his family members were sleeping when they heard the little boy screaming for help as he was been whisked away. They all stormed out and began searching for him, hours later, they found him two kilometers away from their home, in the pool of his own blood with his eyes plucked out.

A student of Delta state University, DELSU, Abraka, Julie Kopet Eruotor, took to her Instagram page recently to narrate how God saved her from a snake bite.
According to Julie, the snake, pictured above, crawled into her room while she was sleeping.
She shared her testimony on IG as thus,
I can’t keep this to myself. God saved me today.
At exactly 12noon, This snake entered my room while I was sleeping.
I heard people screaming “SNAKE! SNAKE! SNAKE! Julie dey inside”. I looked to the direcetion of my door and saw this snake entering slowly and i started praying because that was the first thing that came to my mind.
People were shouting “Julie come out” but NO! i sat on my bed praying and watching this snake’s movement so it won’t be difficult to locate when the securities get to the room.
Then I called the security number in my school. They came to kill it, facing one direction I told them I saw it last (a cupboard close to the door). Not knowing the snake has even gotten to the bed I thought was safe. The bed I was squeezing myself on ohhh… Oh lord!
I jumped down and they killed it.
They brought it out from my room dead and people started taking pictures of it.
Let say nobody saw this snake from outside coming into my room and I continued sleeping. In fact! The only thing popping in my mind right now is “Nara” by @timgodfreyworld

Investigators have unmasked a Nigerian romance scammer, Daniel Joseph Okechkwu, after they set him up.
Apparently, the scammer poses as a US soldier online.
Laura Lyons, a private investigator who specializes in tracking down online romance fraudsters, otherwise known as “catfish” unmasked the Nigerian fraudster.
According to BBC, she posed as Kathryn Hunter – a wealthy divorcee looking for love in a bid to unmask the fraudster. According to her;
“It’s not long before the catfish begin to bite. Four men approach me online and they all claim to be US soldiers.
One of the soldiers, who calls himself Paul Richard, comes on strong. The number he rings from has a Nigerian dialing code. After a brief silence, a man with a thick African accent comes on the line.
This is the image of “Paul Richard” used by the fraudster. His real name is Juan Avalos and his picture is being used by romance fraudsters. (BBC)
He doesn’t sound like the American soldier whose picture he is using. But Paul explains away his accent by saying he has a cold. An online reverse image search leads me to the Instagram page of the real owner of the pictures the catfish was using.
For the next few weeks, my producer continues to speak to Richard on the phone as I listen in. Then our catfish makes a mistake. Richard accidentally leaves a name tag – Dan Coolman – on one of his WhatsApp pictures.
We search through all the Dan Coolmans in Nigeria and we find one who runs a barbershop in Ibadan. He’s using the same number that our catfish has been calling us from.
Coolman is another false name, but we discover the phone is registered to Daniel Joseph Okechkwu. We have finally uncovered the real identity of our catfish. We head for Ibadan, but by the time we get there he’s gone.
Daniel Joseph Okechkwu – the man pretending to be Paul Richard.
The doors to the barber shop are locked and locals say it’s been closed for weeks. We decide to call him and tell him who we really are. He confesses and claims it’s the first romance scam he’s ever pulled and that he has been forced to do it because of the closure of his barber shop.
He sounds sincere and he apologises for the way he has treated us. He says he wants to stop being a romance fraudster. But he needs us to give him money, so that he can afford to stop tricking other people out of their cash. It’s a classic catfish twist. They never give up on the scam even when they have been rumbled.“

An Instagram user, The Proff has shared a ‘now viral’ video of a bride who apparently, blatantly refused to hug or kiss her groom during their legal marriage at the Ikoyi Registry in Lagos.
The woman, believed to be a member of Jehovah’s Witness, was adamant as court officials tried to explain the importance of the kiss. Her refusal to kiss her husband delayed the ceremony for close to 20mins as the court registrars also refused to go further with the ceremony.
Here’s what he wrote:
And i forgot to post this since last week Saturday It all happened like a film trick when this drama started and ended for more than 30mins. Everyone was angry and same time surprised. This so called churches need to change their angle of sermon and brain washing .
According to the law and policy of Ikoyi registry. Before signing , there is this sweet mode when they say hug and kiss your wife and you have this butterfly smile on your face (MUMU LOOK) and kiss her like tomorrow no go come (Na my property now )
But reverse is the case here , A wife to be refused to accept a hug or kiss from her husband during registry at ikoyi claiming it is forbidden to do so according to her church .
She insisted for more than 20min , everyone got angry and the husband became dummish .A woman tried convincing her but was abortive .
She claimed to rather stop the ongoing practice than hugging or kissing . In her statement ” This is forbidden in my church ”

Yesterday, former president Goodluck Jonathan, held a public presentation of his book titled ”My Transition Hours” to commemorate his 61st birthday.
In the book, the former president chronicled the activities before and after the 2015 presidential election which he lost to President Buhari.
The former president in one of the chapters in the book, alleged that the recession Nigeria’s economy faced after his exit from office, was self inflicted by the APC government to tarnish his image and that of his government.
Recall that in August 2016 Nigeria’s economy official slide into recession but by September 2017, the economy was announced to have been out of recession.
In his book, Jonathan said that the clueless tag given to his administration by the current government and their sympathisers, was to humiliate him and everyone that served under him.
Jonathan stated that the APC government instead of working for the progress of the country, came up with the blatant lie that they inherited an empty treasury.
Read excerpt from the book below ;
“Recall that the opposition and their sympathisers and campaigners, both local and international, with their malicious propaganda, tore our economy to shreds, threatened our stability and existence as a nation and intimidated our citizens, all in the bid to take over power.
Nevertheless, we conducted ourselves in a manner that allowed a peaceful transfer of power from a ruling party to an opposition party, for the first time since Independence in 1960. Rather than forge a coalition and build on the momentum we had gathered when they eventually took office, they went on a persecution spree and vengeance mission. That the country slipped into recession soon after we left office was a self-inflicted injury caused by misplaced priorities.
The narrative of inheriting empty treasury is a blatant lie.
“Also, the excuse of the collapse of world crude prices does not hold water. This is because the Fourth Republic took off in 1999 with crude oil selling for less than $20 per barrel and a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth at 0.58 per cent, according to National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) figures. Yet, the economy maintained a steady growth from that year, peaking at 15.33 per cent in 2002 when the average crude oil price was about $25.
“It is also instructive that the oil and gas sector constitute about 11 per cent of our GDP. There had to be a wider causative factor than just the fall in world crude prices.
“It also amounts to standing facts on their heads to continuously claim that recession was caused by so-called mindless looting. The truth is that the opposition, in a bid to undo our government, became its own undoing when it got to power, because of the burden of justifying deliberate misrepresentations. There is wisdom in the saying that if you win a prize and get the crown, don’t go around destroying the person who previously held that prize; it will lose its value. Even after winning the election and forming the government at the centre, the blame game continued. When two brothers fight to death, it is the neighbour that inherits their father’s wealth. And we have seen neigbouring nations like the Republic of Benin and Ghana reaping from the capital flight out of Nigeria.
“Despite Nigeria’s attainment of Independence from Britain ahead of most other African countries, we have been increasingly conditioned to seek succour in the blame game. It is time for Nigeria to take responsibility. As Gen. Murtala Mohammed said while addressing the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), now African Union (AU) in 1976 that ‘Africa has come of age’. I add that Nigeria has come of age. We either live up to that or we don’t. I am convinced that we can, and we should. We must as a nation always strive to improve the quality of life of our citizens and make developmental plans that will focus on the younger generation. That way, Nigeria will not be a liability to the rest of the world. Our population will be an albatross to us and our allies if we do not take the necessary step to tum it into a great opportunity.
“The sundry accusations by the new administration would appear to have baited the media. Media trials are entertaining, but have little or no effect in fighting corruption and improving the economy. Since I left office, rather than improve on our TI (Transparency International) corruption perception record, the situation has worsened with the nation going 12 places backward, becoming number 148 according to the latest CPI ranking for 2017, from 136 in 2014 when I was president.
“It was bad enough that Boko Haram insurgents continue killing people and ruining businesses, but what is worse is when politicians downgrade the economy by demarketing the country internationally. You should never try to slander your political opponents by destroying your country’s economy. Capital flight intensified and companies started laying off staff. In all these, I hope a lesson would be learnt. If you embark on digging a hole for your enemy, you better make it shallow, because you might end up in the hole yourself. How do you attract investors you already repelled through your utterances? Investors are an ultra-sensitive lot. Money runs away from unstable societies.
“Most painful have been the attacks on my ministers, aides and associates and even members of my family. There is an attempt to erase our legacy from history. The good thing is that the unending barrage of attacks, deliberate misinformation and programmed media smear campaigns have failed to sway the opinion of those with a clear view of our beliefs, efforts and achievements. There are millions of Nigerians and others around the world who are still impressed with our modest achievements in consolidating democracy and growing the nation’s economy. They will continue to serve as my strength and encouragement. Sometimes, I laugh when certain propagandists attempt to stand logic on its head by maligning my administration as one bereft of ideas and ‘clueless’.
“In assessing my administration, it is best to focus on facts. I cannot assess myself. I leave that to history. But I can assess my cabinet and I make bold to say that never in the history of Nigeria, till date, has the nation had such a star-studded cabinet, full of achievers and people who got to the top of their chosen fields by merit. Just consider that my minister of State for Health, Dr. Muhammed Ali Pate, is now a professor at America’s Duke University, as well as a Senior Adviser to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation based in Washington DC. My minister of Agriculture, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, is now the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB).
My Co-ordinating minister, Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, is the chairperson of the Board of the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) and the African Risk Capacity (ARC). She also sits on the board of Twitter and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, just as she is a Senior Adviser at Lazard and a Director at Standard Chartered Plc in the United Kingdom, amongst others.
My minister of Communication Technology, Dr. Omobola Johnson, is currently Chairperson of Custodian and Allied Insurance Limited as well as the Global Alliance for Affordable Internet. And it is not just members of my cabinet. Others who served with me in different capacities are also soaring on the world stage. A good example is Ms. Arunma Oteh, who I appointed the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commissnon (SEC).Under her steady and skillful direction, Nigeria’s equity market grew in metric proportions, and by the time I left office in 2015, the market had tripled in size to $150 billion in value. Two months after I left office, Ms. Oteh was appointed a Vice President and Treasurer at the World Bank.
“These are reputable individuals who served their country meritoriously and who, on the strength of their performance as ministers in my government, are now waxing stronger and valiantly on the world stage with only the sky as their limit. With such personalities on my cabinet, no one can factually say we were ‘clueless’ or inept. The evidence of performance is simply overwhelming. We gave Nigeria an impressive and steady GDP growth rate at 6.7 per cent per annum.
“We were officially cited as the third fastest growing economy in the world by CNN Money in 2014. We eradicated polio and guinea worm and became the first nation in the world to defeat the Ebola virus, such that the then richest man in the world, Bill Gates celebrated us for our prowess in the health sector. We reduced our food import bill by 36 per cent.
“I did the best that I could to preserve Nigeria’s unity and ensure a brighter future for all Nigerian children. This remains my driving force even now that I am out of office. I can hold my head high in my post-presidential life to say that under my watch, no Nigerian was witch-hunted because of his or her views and not one political assassination occurred under me.
“The momentum we built was a welcome development and a necessary boost which I recommend to other African nations as a means to help the continent expand capacity and reduce youth unemployment. These are some of the positive steps I took to guide Nigeria safely to land during the difficult times she found herself. Looking back, I can say that I have a sense of fulfilment. It is said that a good conscience suffers no accusations.
“I have served Nigeria with all my strength and God alone is the judge of the universe. I certainly hope that all those who cast aspersions at us can say the same about themselves because the end of a matter is better than its beginning. I had no enemies to fight; I have none still. It is obvious that the world is happy with President Paul Kagame of Rwanda. The country came out of genocide. President Kagame made propaganda his enemy and got to work. Although Rwanda experienced the worst genocide in Africa’s recent history, it is today the toast of the world.
“My hope is that African leaders must embrace the concept of democracy that delivers purposeful leadership, improves the lives of the people and envision a secure future for the nation. Africa is critical to global progress and for that reason I urge all African nations to work with fidelity and commitment for the greater good of the continent.
“Looking into the future, I see that our leaders can do a lot to eliminate ethnic sentiments in our societies, enthrone merit and build a system that gives citizens equal opportunities to excel. A country that cannot use its best brains will lag behind in the comity of nations. African leaders should remove key impediments limiting our growth. When we build capacity in the youth, it will unleash the creativity that would catalyse rapid development.
“Since after my handover, and as part of the dedication of the rest of my life to the cause of peace and good governance, God helping me, I have engaged myself in finding ways of advancing the course of democracy and good governance in Nigeria, Africa and the rest of the world, through my Foundation, the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation (GJF). The GJF will partner with all men and organisations of goodwill across the globes who believe in the ideals to which we have committed ourselves. We will seek to prevent conflicts, create conducive environment for businesses to thrive, work to advance the frontiers of education and create employment for the youth as well as encourage them to be self-employed. Millions of our people need help. We need to develop home-grown talents. We must aid educationally-disadvantaged children. Nigeria must become the beacon of hope in Africa. I urge Nigerians and Africans to join me in the effort to create a fresh thinking and enlightenment of the people of this great country and our wonderful continent as we speak out against unrestrained and reckless craving for political office.
