There was a time not too long ago when Israel Adesanya looked untouchable. That time feels very far away right now.

The Nigerian-born UFC star suffered his fourth consecutive defeat on Saturday night, March 28, when Joe Pyfer stopped him in round two of their middleweight bout at UFC Seattle in Washington. Referee Herb Dean waved off the contest with 42 seconds still remaining in the second round, and just like that, one of the most decorated careers in UFC history took another painful step in the wrong direction.

What followed has been a three-year unravelling. First came a unanimous decision loss to Sean Strickland at UFC 293, a fight where Adesanya was dropped and never looked like the dominant force the division had come to fear. Then in August 2024, Dricus du Plessis submitted him to retain the belt he had taken from Strickland, leaving Adesanya without a title and without a clear path back to one. In February 2025, Nassourdine Imavov knocked him out inside a single round at UFC Saudi Arabia, a result that put his future in the sport under serious question.

Saturday’s loss to Pyfer, a contender he was widely expected to beat, only deepens that uncertainty.

Actor Muyiwa Ademola sent a cash gift of N200,000 to the baby, which Toyosi confirmed was the first deposit made into her daughter’s account. She described him as someone who had been supportive from the very beginning.

During a separate visit by actress Fausat Balogun, Toyosi revealed that there was no money in the house on the day her daughter was born, and expressed deep gratitude to Fausat for her prayers and unwavering support throughout the journey.

In it, she disclosed that her journey to motherhood began in 2008, and included a laparoscopy, a dye test, and multiple failed IVF attempts. She recalled selling all her gold jewellery and pulling funds from her boutique to finance one of the IVF cycles, which also did not work out.

In a video she shared following the birth of her daughter, Toyosi thanked her husband for standing firmly by her side through everything, adding that their children born prior to the new baby would be well taken care of.

Before their friendly match against Peru at the Stade de France on Saturday, March 28, the Senegal national team made a statement that needed no translation. Captain Kalidou Coulibaly led his teammates on a lap of honour around the pitch, AFCON trophy in hand, in full view of thousands of roaring supporters who had packed the stadium to show their support. This was the same trophy that the Confederation of African Football has ordered Senegal to hand back. They paraded it anyway.

Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy and Coulibaly eventually carried the trophy to the presidential box, placing it in front of officials including the president of the Senegalese Football Federation, before the match got underway. A pre-match performance by legendary musician Youssou Ndour set the emotional tone for what felt less like a warmup game and more like a national moment of reckoning.

How It All Unravelled
To understand why this friendly carried so much weight, you have to go back to the AFCON final in Rabat, where Senegal and Morocco faced off in what became one of the most controversial finishes in the tournament’s history.

Late in the match, a penalty decision against Senegal caused the players to briefly walk off the pitch in protest. Captain Sadio Mane eventually brought them back, and the moment seemed to have passed when Morocco missed the spot kick. Senegal then went on to win the match through Pape Gueye’s extra-time goal, or so they thought.

CAF later ruled that the temporary walkoff was a breach of tournament regulations, and in a decision that sent shockwaves through African football, overturned the result entirely. Morocco were awarded a 3-0 victory and handed the AFCON title. Senegal were effectively stripped of a trophy they had already celebrated.

The Lions of Teranga have since taken their appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport and are continuing to fight the ruling through official channels. But on Saturday, they made clear they are also fighting it in the court of public opinion.

Paris Stands With Senegal
The scenes outside the stadium before kickoff told their own story. Thousands of supporters, many from the large Senegalese diaspora community in France, marched through the streets of Saint-Denis with drums, flags and chants, turning the area into a carnival of defiance before the gates even opened.

Saint-Denis mayor Bally Bagayoko captured the mood of the evening when he addressed the crowd, telling the players they were the pride of working-class neighbourhoods everywhere and that all of Africa stood united behind them.

It was a remarkable atmosphere for what is technically just a friendly. But nothing about this felt friendly in the casual sense of the word. For Senegal, this was a show of strength, a reminder to CAF and to the rest of the continent that they have not accepted this outcome quietly and do not plan to.

The match also marks Senegal’s first outing since the AFCON final, as they begin turning their attention toward World Cup preparations. Whatever happens with the appeal, the Lions of Teranga are not standing still and judging by what played out in Paris on Saturday night, neither are their fans.

Nigeria’s commercial capital has added another feather to its cap. Lagos State has been ranked the best subnational entity in the country for ease of doing business, according to a fresh national assessment that scrutinised business conditions across all 36 states and the FCT.

The report was unveiled on Friday, March 28, in Abuja at The Reform and Diplomatic Roundtable 2026, an event put together by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council alongside UK International Development and the Nigeria Economic Stability and Transformation Programme. The timing is significant given how loudly Nigeria’s business community has been crying out for structural improvements at both federal and state levels.

Lagos came out on top, trailed by Kaduna, Oyo, the FCT, Ogun, Enugu, Plateau, Ekiti, Kano, and Nasarawa in that order.

Why Lagos Won

The report credits Lagos with running one of the country’s most advanced sub-national business environments. Relatively dependable electricity supply, a functioning land administration system, efficient commercial courts, strong market access, a skilled workforce, and solid infrastructure including airports and rail networks all worked in its favour.
That said, the report was not entirely flattering toward the state. It flagged the persistent problem of touts and unauthorised individuals loitering around key business and logistics hubs, warning that the situation creates security concerns and disrupts the smooth flow of commercial activity. Weak investor aftercare systems and patchy digital connectivity outside urban centres were also identified as areas needing urgent attention.

The Bigger Picture

At the heart of the report is a straightforward argument: federal reforms alone cannot move the needle on Nigeria’s business environment. Real change has to happen at the state level, where the daily friction of running a business is actually felt.
The report put it plainly, noting that with over 39 million Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises spread across the country, how each state performs on business-enabling conditions has never carried more weight than it does right now.
The assessment framework covered 16 indicators broken down into 36 sub-indicators, touching on everything from electricity access and digital connectivity to land administration, taxation, trade logistics, justice delivery, and workforce development. Rather than relying on perception surveys, the report leaned on secondary data tied to actual service delivery outcomes, giving it a more grounded feel than a typical policy scorecard.

A Country Divided

One of the more telling findings is the regional imbalance in the top 10. The South-West dominated with four states making the cut, while the North-Central contributed three and the North-West two. The South-East had just one representative in Enugu, which ranked sixth on the back of solid scores in digital connectivity, electricity access, and workforce development, though it still struggles with investor aftercare and credit access.
Perhaps most striking is what is missing from the list entirely. Not a single state from the North-East or South-South made the top 10. In a country where regional development gaps are already a sensitive topic, that absence is hard to ignore.

What Needs to Change

The report closes with a ten-point reform agenda aimed at lifting business conditions nationwide. The recommendations cover a wide range of areas including digitising land administration, expanding access to credit through development finance institutions, setting up more commercial and small claims courts, removing barriers to interstate trade, building out investor aftercare units, improving logistics infrastructure, and rolling out one-stop investment centres across states.
Company registration also came under scrutiny. The report noted that slow and opaque registration processes continue to keep millions of MSMEs in the informal sector, a problem that has been raised repeatedly over the years with limited progress to show for it.

The rankings are expected to serve as a live tracking tool going forward, giving policymakers, investors, and business owners a clearer picture of where reforms are taking hold and where the gaps remain stubbornly wide.

A young Nigerian woman identified as Hafsat visited a business center recently, only to find herself in an uncomfortable and frankly alarming situation when a strange man in the same space began making advances at her and insisted on physically touching her. She did the right thing and recorded the encounter.

In the footage, the man’s reasoning is as brazen as it is disturbing. He told Hafsat that because she looked good, he felt the need to touch her body as a way of appreciating her beauty. When she calmly pointed out that he could admire her looks without putting his hands on her, he pushed back. He said he wanted to feel her skin.

At that point, most people would expect the man to catch himself and back down. Instead, he doubled down and reached for an argument that has since become the most talked-about part of the video.
“That is low mentality. In outside country, you have right to touch anybody to appreciate the beauty you see,” he told her, apparently suggesting that physically handling a stranger without consent is standard practice abroad and that Hafsat’s objection was a sign of ignorance.

A video that has been making waves across social media captures the fiery moment a group of women physically blocked officials from the Power Holding Company of Nigeria from disconnecting their electricity supply, despite the fact that they had barely seen any power in months.

In the clip, the women, who expressed themselves in Yoruba, made their frustration known in no uncertain terms. “We have not had light yet you still want to disconnect our wire? There is a quiet crisis unfolding in Nigeria’s capital city, and not enough people are talking about it.

Popular media personality and Twitter influencer Chude (@Chude_ND1) brought it to the spotlight this week when he took to X (formerly Twitter) to share something that many Nigerians are living through but few are saying out loud, the brutal reality of skyrocketing rents that are forcing people to trade bigger homes for smaller ones, not by choice, but by financial necessity.

“People are not talking about how, in this economy, people are forced to move from bigger apartments to smaller ones due to ridiculous rent increases,” Chude wrote, and the post quickly resonated with thousands who clearly knew exactly what he was talking about.

He didn’t just speak in general terms either. He came with receipts.

A woman in his circle, he revealed, is preparing to vacate her three-bedroom apartment in Wuse 2, one of Abuja’s most sought-after neighbourhoods — after her annual rent jumped from ₦5 million to a staggering ₦12 million. Her solution? Downsize to a self-contained unit at around ₦2 million, just to stay within the Wuse area. Chude’s reaction said it all: “I wonder what she will do with all her furniture.”

That story alone would have been enough to make people stop scrolling. But Chude had more.

Another friend of his made a similar move, from a two-bedroom flat in upscale Guzape down to a one-bedroom in Lugbe, after his rent ballooned from ₦3 million to ₦8 million within just three years. Three years. The numbers are not gradual. They are aggressive.

And Chude himself? He says he’s already started selling off some of his belongings and is making the move from a two-bedroom to a one-bedroom. He was refreshingly blunt about where his own limit lies: paying more than ₦3 million in rent as a single man is simply off the table. “Not at this stage of my life,” he said. His backup plan, delivered with the kind of dry humour only someone truly frustrated could pull off, either relocate to one of Abuja’s outskirt villages, or use the rent money to build a modest home in Lungu instead.

What makes Chude’s thread hit differently is how ordinary the people in his stories are. These are not people living beyond their means or making poor financial decisions. They are simply people trying to hold on to the lives they built, in a city that keeps pricing them out of it.

The conversation around Nigeria’s housing crisis often gets drowned out by bigger economic headlines — the naira, fuel prices, food costs. But rent? Rent is personal. It’s the address on your ID card, the school run your kids are used to, the commute you’ve structured your whole life around. When that gets yanked away by a landlord slapping a 140% increase on your renewal notice, something deeper shifts.

Half of the people Chude knows in Abuja are currently searching for a new apartment. Half. In a city. Among one person’s social circle. That number alone should make policymakers uncomfortable.

For now though, Nigerians are doing what they’ve always done; adapting, downsizing, and finding dark humour in situations that really aren’t funny at all.

A true story of how a lady leaped for joy when her Pastor-partner’s genotype fluctuated, after insistent prayers.

The story was shared on X by a lady named @BlessingCh73232.

According to her, a lady found out that she and her boyfriend who was a pastor were both AS.

Being naïve, he convinced her into persistent prayer and fasting.

In the midst of this fervent devotion, they decided to run a series of genotype test, but went back on their knees as the results were negative.

And then, a result came out indicating that the man was AA.

“When he showed me, I leaped for joy. I was really excited. Finally God had done it, heaven has finally smiled on us”, She said.

But the camels back got broken after they tried a different hospital; yes! the result went back to AS.

They ran more tests, but those only proved that the fluctuation was a probable error.

Close friends encouraged them to go ahead with their marriage plans, as there is nothing impossible for God to do.

We didn’t know this until we were far gone into the relationship and it was a struggle to just bail out.

I was still very young and naive at the time. So, I prayed, fasted for weeks, rolled on his church’s altar.

We decided to try a different hospital. This time, the result went back to normal, AS. I was confused. We tried another place, the same result. That was when it dawned on us that the previous (AA) was most likely an error..

We sort counsel from close friends. Most of them encouraged us to go ahead with our marriage plans, that God will do it.

That there’s nothing impossible with God.

Pastor encouraged me to stay. He said God has used him before to change genotypes from SS to AA.

He told me that God was just testing our faith in Him.

Weeks later, I left. I chose me.
I chose peace. I thought of my unborn kids and how the wrong decision can leave them in pains for life or even cut short their lives, their dreams and ambitions.

I suddenly realized that I’ll be a w*cked mum to go on with such risky decision.

He wasn’t happy. He tried to convince me. But my mind was already made up.

Today, I’m in a better place. Married to one of the best men on earth with an AA genotype of course.

My kids are all doing well. Alive, energetic and healthy.

According to the story shared on X by @AjeboWriter, if the baby starts crying at home, and guests are present, he sends her inside, at the hospital, he politely tells anyone present to excuse her, at the restaurant , he will tell her to go feed the baby in the restroom or the car, when in church.
