“Who is she?”- John Boyega reacts to Toke Makinwa’s accusation of Bodyguard assault

British-Nigerian Hollywood Actor, John Boyega has finally reacted to claims by media personality, Toke Makinwa.

Toke Makinwa had claimed his bodyguard assaulted her during his last visit to Nigeria.

Some weeks back, Toke Makinwa had taken to her IG page to recount how Boyega’s guard humiliated her at a bar.

She stated he even tried getting her to leave the bar.

However, according to Boyega, none of this happened.

Watch his interview with Cool FM below:

Meanwhile, he revealed while on a show on CNBC Africa that he plans to shoot a low budget Nigerian movie with about $20-$25million (N9billion).

Boyega spoke to Power Lunch West Africa host, Onyi Sunday during the promotion of his new movie “Pacific Rim.”

“We’re developing a few Nigerian stories and choosing one which makes sense budget-wise. We’re probably looking at an indie budget of $20-$25 million dollars.”

With the highest Nigerian movie having a budget less than $500,000, the “Star Wars” actor might be starting a revolution that will create a marriage between the Nigerian movie industry and the American movie industry.

From the pictures he painted, John Boyega might have given the hint of working with one of Nollywood’s finest actresses, Genevieve Nnaji.

“I’m very interested in original Nigerian stories. I grew up on Nollywood.

“The first Nollywood film I ever watched was Blood Sisters with Genevieve Nnaji,” the 26-year-old actor told Power Lunch West Africa host, Onyi Sunday during his interview at CNBC Africa.

Bobrisky blasts women who confronted him over his dressing in a bank (Video)

Nigerian cross-dresser, Bobrisky has been captured in a video having a heated argument with some women in a commercial bank somewhere in Lagos.

The effeminate was in the bank to make some transactions when a non-fan spotted him dressed in a lady’s clothing.

It’s reported that the woman confronted him and berated him for dressing in a way she deemed abnormal.

A customer at the bank made the video and it seemed as though it’s the first time the transvestite would be confronted in public for his choice of dressing.

As soon as the lady attacked him, some other women joined in the argument and also condemned the self-acclaimed SnapChat Queen for dressing like a woman in public.

Bobrisky is said to have returned the lashes and at a point, even threatened to beat up the woman and asked her if she does not have any kind of home training that she would openly involve herself in other people’s matters.

According to eyewitnesses, Bobrisky stated that he would tear her wig and wait for the police to come take them in handcuffs.

The men at the bank could be seen clearly in the video and not unnerved about the ongoing argument.

Though it was gathered that the cross-dresser got support from other women in the bank, who believed that the attacker should have minded her business and leave the guy alone.

Watch below:

Bobrisky could be seen raining more insults on the woman even as she left the bank.

“It was quite surprising that Bobrisky appeared in public fully dressed in a female attire. And just as it always is, Nigerians would surely react to the abnormal dressing. He should have expected that anyway. But at least the woman should face her own business too” a commentator said

Kemi Olunloyo who is known to be controversial has reacted to Payporte calling out Big Brother Naija housemate, Cee-C for disrespecting the dress sent to her for their cultural party, last saturday.

According to Kemi Olunloyo, the dress is ugly and Payporte should have kept mute on the matter.

In her words;

“THE CEE-C DRESS @ceec_official

#BBNaija In America where I first watched #BigBrother 2001, sponsors do not talk. Viewers still don’t pay phone charges to vote till today.

Of course we have no landlines left in Nigeria since our leaders looted NITEL, Nigeria’s original phone company where we could have been making toll free calls to vote now.

@Payporte should NOT have uttered a word online

This is NOT about your brand alone! It is also about the young lady’s brand.

This is a REALITY SHOW!
This is a REAL UGLY DRESS!

“The Ordeal and Triumph of a female colleague on Campus”

Olatayo Samuel writes:

THE ORDEAL AND TRIUMPH OF A FEMALE COLLEAGUE ON CAMPUS

She did everything she had seen every successful student did to get excellent results. She read for long hours, attended every tutorial, yet, she always got average scores. She wanted distinction, or upper credit, at the very least, but she always wallowed in the deep of lower credit. She wanted 80s, 70s as scores, but 40s and 50s would not stop welcoming her whenever she visited the score board.

She is beautiful. Aye! She is naturally endowed! She does not need make up because she is naturally made up. She was cynosure of every lecturer’s eyes. They wanted her: they wanted her body to satisfy their lustful desires.

Everyone knew she was not the kind of student who messed around or wanted any dirty affair with the lecturers even though she’s sociable and respectful to everyone.

But these corrupt men would stop at nothing to get what they wanted. They knew she craved good grades and she was doing all that she could to get it. But, just like every other average student like her, the biggest of her effort could not get her more than average results.

So, they felt they could toss her some baits, using her strong desire for good grades.

“We would help her get the good grades she wants. We would tell other lecturers to accord her good grades, too. However, she should be ready to be in our good books. She should be ready to do our bids, just like some of her colleagues do”.

“That is a bait too big to miss the hit,” they assured themselves. “It is what almost every female student who struggles with academics like her wants,” they said, with evil grin.

She resisted their advances and ingenuine help altogether. Even though she badly wanted good grades, and that her hardest effort could not get her more than average scores, she was strongly determined not to mess herself up on any lecturer’s bed.

They discovered she would not budge an inch, no matter how hard, or what trick, they tried. Then, they resorted to threat. They shouted at her at every opportunity. They orally harassed her. They made her look stupid and dumb in the eyes of other students. They knew she was emotional and could barely form words whenever her emotion ran high. She always stuttered, although mildly, whenever she was worked up or put under stress. Even when she had ostensibly done nothing wrong, they would call her in public and begin to lambaste her.

They were the predators that ruled the jungle. And she was only a little vulnerable mouse, struggling for life in the midst of cruel devourers.

“You cannot be this beautiful and go like that without any of us having a taste of you,” they always said, albeit covertly.

All this they did to a point that she started crying out. She had been battling this herself but she seemed not to have the strength to do it alone again. She needed whom she could pour her heart to so the weight would be light on her.

It is not even that she had not been crying before this day. She had but had always fought the tears from escaping her eyes lest people begin to inquire into the tale she was not ready to tell. I am also sure that she had, at one time or two, left herself to shed all the tears her body could produce when she was alone in her room.

I can never forget those words she muttered to us while tears cascaded down her beautiful face one fateful afternoon.

Heavily sobbing, she said, “This my womanhood en! It belongs to my husband and only him will see and touch it! No lecturer will! God will not make their evil wish come to pass on me!”

“Most of my colleagues are doing it but I never will. I will never do it. I never, ever will,” she resolved.

Months and years have passed after we graduated. Today, she has a handsome, financially-okay, caring husband who respects and cares very much for her. God has also blessed her with beautiful child and her family has always known good days. Things are okay and peaceful with her today.

You wonder why God is making things sweet for her today? It is because she did not mess up her yesterday! Things are working pretty good for her today because she was not reckless about her yesterday.

She did not disobey her conscience while on campus. She did not mess herself up on the bed of a lecturer. She was determined but wasn’t desperate to do any silly thing for grades. She respected her hubby yet unknown and made sure she kept herself clean and sealed for him.

So what can be said about you? Are you allowing your desires to make you desperate? If that is the case with you, please change today. Do not lose your dignity on the altar of desperation.

Always respect and protect your tomorrow!

“Nothing to eat and you buy data?” – Yomi Casual’s defying response to follower who begged him for financial aid

As is the usual way of some Nigerians online, a fellow took to the page of Fashion designer, Yomi Casual, to beg him for financial aid during the Easter period; the response this follower got is what has us in talks.

Yomi Casual had taken to his page to celebrate actress, Mimi Orjiekwe’s daughter, who turned a year old recently, saying his boys will locate in few years et all. He wrote…

Happy birthday pumpkin @mimiorjiekweng my boys must locate her in 15yrs……please can my Kahley grow already????????

… a follower of his then used the opportunity to ask him for aid, stating specifically that he and his sibling are starving this Easter season and the designer’s aid will go a long way for him…

Yomi Casual – wondering what the odds are – then replied him, asking how could he be starving and still be able to get data to tell him that he’s starving… he says the follower doesn’t know what he wants.

What do you think? Should have been kinder with his response? Or it’s okay as it is?

#BBNaija: Tobi left out as Lolu and Anto resolve their differences

Big Brother housemate, Tobi Bakre may have been left out in the cold after Lolu and Anto resolved their differences.

Tobi, whose former love interest was Cee-C, got cozy with Anto after she returned to the Big Brother Naija house.

During her time outside the house, Anto discovered that Lolu had a relationship outside the house which led to a disagreement with Lolu upon her return.

The pair made up on Tuesday and Alex, a fellow BBNaija housemate, could not help but say: “Ode! I told you, you don’t have sense” to Tobi.

Not one to be deterred easily, Tobi made a move when Anto was in bed. Responding to the former’s question on if she was awake, Anto said: “Yes, with Lolu.”

Later on, when she was looking for a potato peeler in the kitchen, Tobi tried his luck again by offering her a sensual massage.

Not stopping there, he said he would like to paint her buttocks and stick them on the wall. Lolu, who witnessed it all, responded that he would not be comfortable with that.

The love pair, Teddy A and Bam Bam, were ended their journey on the show at the last eviction.

Lolu, Cee-C, Alex, Nina, Miracle and Rico Swarvey are currently up for eviction.

Thank you for bringing such a wonderful and sweet girl into my life and into all the lives that she has already touched with her smiling face and beautiful spirit.

It is easy for me to think that I am the person who brought her into this world and that she is mine, but please help me to remember that she is Yours, and you have given me the privilege and challenge of being her earthly mother.

Though she may look like her father and I, you knit her together in my womb and know everything about her, and the plan YOU have for her life is the one I pray you help me to lead her toward.

It has been an amazing first year with my daughter, and I thank you for being by my side every step of the way to help give me wisdom and strength to be a mother.

Continue to shower me with love, patience and wisdom for the years to come.

I ask that you be with sweet Jazzy all the days of her life. Show her your presence and keep her heart pure so that she can see YOU.

Help her to remain healthy and strong in her body and mind to ready her for all the amazing things you have in mind for her to accomplish one day.

Give her a thirst and a longing for a relationship with you and a love for others that transforms her.

Give her strength to deal with life’s hardships and help her to grow from them without a bitter spirit.

Protect her from Satan and the traps he likes to set for those of us on this earth. Lord, I thank you again for my Baby and all the joy she brings to my life.

Inspiring story of a 94 year old Nigerian sickle cell survivor and how she survived against all odds

A beautiful 94-year-old Nigerian woman has shared her motivational story of how against all odds, she survived being a sickle cell for all these years.

Ninety-four years and still alive and kicking, Alhaja Ashiata Abike Onikoyi nee Laguda’s story is one that defies logic. Born with the dreaded though relatively unknown Sickle Cell anaemia at the time, no-one expected her to survive childhood.

But Laguda, who could well qualify as the oldest Sickle Cell survivor in Nigeria, not only survived, she weathered the perennial illness days and became as strong as a fiddle. She regaled Medinat Kanabe with her story.

There is a notion in Nigeria that anybody living with the sickle cell anaemia, more popularly referred to as SS, hardly lives beyond 40 years. As a matter of fact, when you come across anyone living with the condition, the next thing that comes to the mind is death, premature death. As a result, there is a subtle discrimination against them; they are treated differently from other people; not given jobs and worst of all, no one wants to marry them.

It is for this reasons that the story of Alhaja Ashiata Abike Onikoyi nee Laguda, who will be 94 years old this October stands out like a lone star on a rainy night. Born to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Onikoyi of Lagos in1924, Alhaja Laguda’s parents had first lost a child, most probably, to Sickle Cell Anaemia; but because the disease was then unknown, no one paid attention. In any case, infant mortality rate at the time was still very high and hardly seen as unusual.

As fate would have it, her father died before her mum could have other children, so she became an only child until her mother remarried.

Amazing alertness

Looking nearly two decades younger, Alhaja Laguda welcomed this reporter with the cheer and alertness of a youth. Her smiles and amazingly strong voice immediately dissipated the fear this reporter had about coping with interviewing a nonagenarian, who may be nursing health issues.

Without any prodding, she showed this reporter her photos, several of them taken during her visits to the Muslim holy land, Mecca. She has been to Mecca 13 times, she announced with visible contentment.

After making sure her reporter visitor was comfortable, Alhaja Laguda continued: “My dad died too early, so my mother remarried another person and had other children for him.”

She recalled that being sickly was a terrible thing at the time she was growing up because nobody knew about sickle cell anemia. She was always sick to the point that in a whole year, she may attend school only about three months of the entire annual school calendar. “I would spend the other months sick and at home.”

In a bid to find cure by all means for her condition, which the people had ascribed to the rascally supernatural reincarnation of spirit children or “Abiku”, she was given all sorts of concoction.

“I was taken to the hospital; then they still brought all sorts of concoction from the Igbo tribe, from Yoruba people and from Hausa part of the country, because it was a very serious sickness. I just took everything that they gave me. They would cut me on every part of my body but I gave myself to them because I wanted to live.”

When the illness attacked her hands, she recalled that she would not be able to use them for anything – not even to eat. When it attacked her legs, she would not be able to walk, and whenever she was at home, she must be by the fire-side, to keep her warm.

“They called me abiku and several other names, but thank God things have changed today. Also, the government is doing everything within its power to enlighten the people about the disease.”

Left to her father, Alhaja Laguda recalled that she would not have had any education, as he pampered her, much like a jewel he was going to lose at anytime, and kept her at home rather than let her go to school.

“If he didn’t die, I probably wouldn’t have been educated because he said I should be left at home, so that they can watch over me every time.

“He insisted that because of my nature, no teacher should beat me. He would say I should be left at home even when I was not having any attacks; but when he died I had no choice because my mum insisted I went to school. That, in a nutshell, was how it became possible for me to go to school.”

Growing up, she said she never felt bad even though she knew she was different, maybe because nobody taunted or bullied her. Instead, she said she was protected and given a lot of care and attention.

“If I went to school and it was going to rain, they would bring a car to pick me, because the rain must not touch me. I must not go out in the cold, I must not step on wet ground; I couldn’t even stay where there was a fan, let alone in a cold weather. But all that is gone now. Since I clocked forty, I have not had any attacks,” she said joyfully.

When she wanted to go to England for Secretariat Studies in one of the colleges of secretariat studies, her mother was advised against the idea because of the cold weather but she insisted and went.

“I told my mum that the God that lives in Nigeria also lives in England, and although I had attacks, I visited the hospital and got better because they knew about the genotype and gave me good care. However, I am not saying going to England is the one factor that has kept me because I had had four of my children before traveling.”

Asked if there were times when she thought she would die, she answered in the affirmative, relieving her experience during the delivery of her last child.

“I remember when I had my last child, I told the doctor that I would die that day but he said no, that I would not die. He and other doctors on duty were on ground, telling me that they were weighing the blood I was losing and they gave me the best treatment. In fact, at lunch time I was up and doing; I even had lunch with the doctors.”

Unlike what many people would think, childbearing was not difficult for her at all. According to her, anytime she was pregnant, she didn’t feel any pains or get any attacks. “See how wonderful God is? I also had good care.

As she grew older, she channeled her strength to work and praying to God to heal her or make it easier for her. She worked with the now defunct national post and telecommunication company, P&T for many years. She recalled that she and some others were the first set of people to be trained in tele-printing by the company.

“What gave me the strength is God because I am a prayer warrior. I prayed, I fasted regularly and I have visited the holy land (Mecca) thirteen times, to serve my God and ask him for what I want.”

On what her don’ts are, Alhaja Laguda said she doesn’t have any. “I eat everything that people eat. This morning I had bread and egg. I don’t have any don’ts at all. I eat sugar also.

“Doctors see me and wonder what a miracle I am. I stopped having attacks since I turned 40 but they say my blood genotype still reads sickly.

“I eat dates a lot also because they are from Mecca and they are very good fruits.”

Until she stopped going out by herself four years ago after she had a fall, Alhaja Laguda used to go to hospitals to talk to people living with the genotype, lecture and encourage them.

She washed her cloths herself until she turned 90, as she never felt satisfied with anyone washing them for her. “It’s either they’re not washing it clean or they’re not rinsing it clean; so I washed them myself.”

Narrating the story of her fall, she said: “The day I fell and broke my leg, I caused the accident. That day, I told my grandson, Bolaji that I wanted to wash but he told me not to, that he would do it himself when he gets back. When he left for work, I washed the cloths and left home to visit a friend. On returning from her place, I decided to take the cloths from the line but missed a step and fell. Since then I have been here. I don’t go anywhere except I want to go downstairs and I must use my walking stick.”

Consequently, she said she is fed up with sitting in the house. “I want to go but God has not killed me, so I have no choice but live.”

Not being able to walk around, whether long distance or short and exercise her limbs is perhaps the major reason she is fed up with life.

Said the nonagenarian, “Before I fell, I used to walk from my house here in Ilasamaja, Lagos to Mushin and Oshodi market as a form of exercise because I believe walking is the best exercise one can engage in. I walked like that until I was 90 when I fell and had to stop.”

Because she didn’t know her illness was a genotype issue, she said she never blamed her parents. Even when she grew up and realised the cause of her perennial illness, she still did not blame them. “I didn’t blame them because they were not civilised. Besides, in their time there was nothing like checking genotype before marriage.”

Asked how she met her husband, she laughed and said, “I had many husbands o!” Her first husband, whom she called Dr. Alakija, was her doctor, who took interest in her and married – even though he was already married at the time.

“I know he loved me. He knew my situation but still went ahead and married me. I remember while attending Queens College, I was told that I would take swimming compulsorily; he stood his grounds and insisted that I be left alone.

“Swimming in those days was a compulsory subject but I couldn’t swim because of my genotype, so he saved the situation for me.

“I married another husband when he died. I had two children for him.”

All the men she married knew she was sickly but they didn’t care because in those days, not everyone knew about sickle cell anaemia. “They loved me so, and married me so.”

Alhaja Laguda called on parents with children who have SS to take care of the children very well, feed them well and show them lots of love. “This will make it easier for them to live with the disease. When it is cold, keep them warm; don’t keep them at home because they are always sick; let them go to school, it is very important.”

Would she accept an offer to go live in an old people’s home, where she would be well taken care of and have her age-mates as playmates?

She said she has been told on several occasion that she should be taken to one but refused.

“I don’t have anything against old people’s homes because I visit them when I was able to walk but I can take care of myself. I pay for every service I need by myself; I am not a burden to any child. This house belongs to me and the tenants pay to me; I have a two-storey building on this street and on the other street; so I can take care of myself. I also have some shops in front of the buildings. I think these assets are enough to take care of me.”

Asked how she made enough money to build the houses and shops, she said, being sickly didn’t make her lazy. When I was working, I was trading too, so I had money to build the house. But this one we are in now was built by my late husband.

Proud Lagosian

“I am a Lagosian from the Onikoyi Chieftaincy family. We are the owner of Ikoyi but my family house is in Idumota, very close to the Tower clock.

“My mother hailed from Ibadan, Oluokun side, Kudeti, Oluyole. My father is the one from the Onikoyi family; we were a chieftaincy family before but now we have been upgraded to a kingship family. So we now have Oba OniIkoyi. So now our chief has moved from Idumota to Eko Hotel side with some other family members. My dad died in 1936 while my mum died at the age of 70. I am a replica of my mum.”

Tchidi Chikere’s ex-wife, Sophia Williams shows off her legs after she fell inside a gutter

Nollywood actress, Sophia Williams sustained injuries during the Easter celebration after she fell into a gutter.

The thespian who’s fond of rocking high heels, blames witches after she fell into gutter filled with stagnant water near her church in Lagos.

She, who’s the estranged wife of producer Tchidi Chikere and skin care expert, was through with church service on Sunday and was heading home in her high heel pumps when she suddenly plunged into a gutter as she was about to enter her car.

According to her, the injury is a spiritual attack as she has been having a series of nightmares prior to the incident.

The actress was quickly rushed to the hospital where she was treated and discharged.

She wrote:

“Pls Join me in thanking God for saving me yesterday. As I spent my Easter Sunday at the hospital. Was coming out from the church after service n in high spirit to go home n enjoy my food n chilled wine, before this incident I have been having this terrible nightmare consistently so I kept praying with my pastor. I came out of the church n was walking to the car park, Bam I fell into this gutter that is so deep and I shouted jesusssss! How I didn’t see that gutter, uptill now I can’t say as God would have it, I didn’t fall entirely as one leg was inside n the other one outside, infact I don’t know how God did it for me cos it took 2 men to carry me up from there n put me in my car as I couldn’t walk or stand.. n my blood was everywhere, I was crying tears of joy n thanking God cos if I had entered completely inside that very deep gutter filled up with dirty stagnant water, it would have been another story! To cut the long story short I was rushed to the hospital n got treated n am perfectly fine just going through pains.. I can’t thank God enough for saving my life n to me is a testimony n I won’t hesitate to share! I decree that no weapon fashioned against me shall prosper! No enchantment n incantation from the evil one shall prevail over my life. I will not be intimidated by demonic nightmare cos my destiny is attached to God, I uproot n render all the evil plans over my life impotent.. thank you lord Jesus! Thank you Holy Spirit!
