She had bitten his fingers while trying to defend herself, police said.

Here’s a story of how I once made the grave mistake of trying to enjoy the pleasures of a Yoruba wedding party all by myself.
I’d gotten a personal invite to the ceremony held in June 2017, alright, but I should have known better than trying to go all by myself.
I really should have known better than pressuring myself to attend, especially after my two friends, with whom I’d been planning to mash up the place, slied me just a week to the big day.
Mind you, we had been planning this gig for two months.
But hey, I wasn’t going to let that deter me. What was a little disappointment to someone determined to get something done?
Plan B
So what did I do? I called up one babe I had just begun being friendly with. I mean, there’s meant to be a silver lining after every dark cloud, right?
I chose to see my friend’s pulling-out of the plan as an opportunity to chill with the light-skin, curvy igbo babe.
She actually loved the idea. She was eager to go and I was really excited that everything had finally gelled and I’d spend time with her, gist, eat good food and maybe even take her back to my place afterwards.
Dreams do come true, don’t they?
Well, apparently not.
On the morning of the wedding, my phone rang and it was her.
You know those hand-falling moments when your phone rings and you’re hoping it’s an alert you’ve been expecting, only for it to turn out to be your network provider letting the devil use them to bring more agony to your raggedy soul?
That was it.
Brothers and sisters, imagine my despair when she apologetically called to say she was cancelling. She said she’d tried to make it happen, but there was no way she could force it.
Damned menstrual cramps!
When there’s a will…
But then, because my village people had planned and were so hell-bent on getting me that day, instead of seeing everything that already went wrong as a sign to just relax myself and sit home, my mind still wouldn’t let go of this wedding.
Maybe because I had just made this nice native attire – one well-tailored beauty like that – and the wedding was just the perfect opportunity to show it off. My body was legit doing me gish gish to just wear the clothe. I wasn’t going to let my guys and menstrual cramps rain on my party.
So off I went.
By the time I had my seat at 2:30pm or thereabouts, the bride and the groom were just dancing into the hall.
I mean, this was a reception that should have begun at 1pm but hey, I thought to myself, “they’re less than two hours late. I like these guys.”
That’s one lesson I’d learnt after being at enough Yoruba weddings. If the couple were not four hours late, you better be grateful.
And I was. In fact, I gave them a mental pass mark. On one hand for their early arrival and on the other because, just as the couple and its squads entered with all the fanfare, jollof rice and its divine smell followed.
Let the party begin as the Lord intended, I thought to myself as I fiddled with my phone, trying to be as cool as possible.
You know how you have to be composed while food is being served at these things so you won’t look like you are actually interested in their food. Smh.
20 minutes after and the smell of jollof had well and truly filled the whole room but none was coming my way. So I stylishly looked around me.
People of God, food was flowing everywhere around me o. Jollof was being murdered en-masse, beer and juice and other drinks were being used to flush the crushed grains further down but I was getting none of the action.
Another look around and I realized what the problem was – I had somehow managed to sit myself in the uncool side of the setting.
Oh my Jesus.
Uncool kids
You know all those cool kids in American high school movies always getting their way and getting away with literally anything? Exactly!
My table was the opposite of that. We were three. An elderly man and one woman who looked like she gatecrashed completed the miserable trio.
We were three at a table meant for eight. Quiet, looking morose and – it actually still breaks my heart to admit this part – very, very hungry.
Yet there was no food coming from anywhere. And it was increasingly looking like none would.
For some reason, it was only the tables where groups of people were gisting that had food. Banter was alive and gist was just flowing. So did food and drinks there.
The loudmouthed and really pretty babes who all wore matching outfits to our right had it all. I hungrily eyed a petite one and somehow our eyes met and held for the briefest moment.
Wait, lemme eat first, I thought and filed the thought of getting her number to a part of my worried mind.
The yuppy mummies directly in front of us had loads of food as well – as in, everything.
Those ones bullied the servers to get most of the food anyway; literally dragging the servers by the clothes whenever they passed till everyone at their table was served everything they wanted.
Then I realized that’s the thing about these Yoruba weddings and maybe about servers – you have to call their attention most times and it is the force with which you call them that they respond to.
It is often the case that they attend to a number of people calling at once rather than just one person or two. The larger the group and the loudness of their approach, the better for the group.
You know, there’s this thing about misbehaving in groups that takes attention away from individuals. Now I had the option to continue being posh and expect them to do normal, or go solo at harassing them to bring the party to my side.
I couldn’t.
“Please give me food na”
So I just sat there humbly, pressing my phone and trying my damnedest best to show a nonchalance I wasn’t feeling at all.
“Haa God, I never chop since morning oooooo!”
Gosh, can this people just serve us without having to call out to them, please? I was screaming internally at this stage.
Hello. Hello? Is anyone out there? Can you hear me?
Ok, you can leave the moimoi out. Just gimme rice, salad and chicken.
No? Oh my Jesus.
I suddenly realized how alone I was in this world.
Lesson: If you ever hope to eat at a Yoruba wedding, be ready to call out, maybe even drag the servers by their clothes.
Dishes were being cleared and mounds of rice and chicken were being brought down to broken bones. I was getting none of the action. My soul was paining me, my stomach was aching. It had been filled all day with nothing but the aroma of jollof.
One whole hour after, I reached a conclusion in my mind that if they didn’t bring anything in the next 30 minutes, I’d be out of there.
Then it happened. Finally!
A ray of hope
One of the servers had one last juice in his little basket and saw us at our table looking depressed.
He must have seen the misery in our eyes when he scanned the table and found nothing but table water. Mine was untouched.
“Ahahn, bros, they never serve una anything for here?”
“No o,” I replied, and the two other people joined in with their voice for good measure.
My voice actually came out a little too strongly than I hoped.
Wow. Where did that flash of anger come from?
Baba, the things wey hunger dey cause for this life ehn…
The serving guy quickly offered us juice and promised to come back with a serving lady – and a tray of all the goodies, of course.
I let the two other people have the juice. More was coming. No lele.
False dawns & unhappy endings
You people, that’s why I’m actually writing this article oooo.
See, that promise was made in 2017. It’s 2018 already and I’m still screaming internally, waiting for the serving guy that served me drink and told me to wait on him for food.
Please if you know that guy that served me drink at Abule Egba and told me to chillax for him, please tell him to come and serve me my food o, I use God to beg him.
I’m in Lekki as I write this.
Can you guys actually believe, there was still small chops served to people; and I think there must have been asun too, because as at the time I and my sunken, shattered, bleeding heart, dry mouth and empty stomach were leaving that wedding, I saw them preparing something that looked like the end product would be asun.
And I had nothing to eat in the midst of all that.
Zilch. Zero. Nada. Not even a grain of rice or morsel of semo.
Fam, the painment!
I have attended three more weddings since then and cancelled two more because there was no one to go with.
It’s crazy that I had to go so far and wait so long to learn a lesson everyone apparently knows in this Lagos – never go to a Yoruba wedding alone.
Even if you are lucky and you get food, enjoy and do all sorts that are done there, the experience is never the same.
I attended a Yoruba wedding alone and it was one of the worst mistakes of my life for that year.
Kylie Jenner has finally revealed her daughter’s name, and she’s named her stormi, contrary to speculations that she’d be named “Butterfly”.
The cosmetics mogul and reality star who is currently in a relationship with rapper, Travis Scott revealed her baby’s name on social media, the same place where days ago she said she’d given birth on Feb. 1.
Jenner, 20, kept her pregnancy under wraps throughout, refraining from acknowledging it publicly or posting about it on social media, a unique move for a member of one of the Internet’s most social-friendly families.
Sources close to the family in September confirmed to CNN that she was expecting.
“My pregnancy was one I chose not to do in front of the world,” Jenner said on Sunday. “I knew for myself I needed to prepare for this role of a lifetime in the most positive, stress free, and healthy way I knew how.”
A LOVE triangle ended tragically when an 18-year-old woman from Harare committed suicide by downing poison after her sister discovered that she was bedding her husband under her nose.
The tragic incident occurred last week when the teenager, Farai Chirara from Ushewekunze area in the outskirts of Harare, ran away from home before committing suicide by drinking poison after receiving death threats from her sister, Memory Mojoko, accusing her of bedding her husband Obvious Mudemba.
The deceased teen, had been staying with the couple, who are both teachers, while waiting for her A’ Level results when her sister started suspecting an affair between the former and her husband resulting in her running away from home.
A relative who spoke on condition of anonymity said when Farai ran away from home Mujoko started sending her messages insulting her with vulgarities and threatening her with unspecified action accusing her of wrecking her marriage.
The relative said Farai went on to drink poison and was rushed to Parirenyatwa hospital by other relatives where she died just after admission.
“It is sad that Memory pushed her sister to committing suicide after sending her messages insulting and threatening her.
Farai went to stay with the couple while waiting for her A’ Level results. During the long holiday, it is suspected that she started bedding Mudemba who is her sister’s husband.
“When Mujoko got wind of the illicit affair she started insulting and threatening Farai with unspecified action. Farai fled home and found sanctuary at a relative’s place where she later committed suicide by drinking poison.
“She died on Friday (last week) morning at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals,” said the relative.
The relative added that Farai’s relatives are baying for Mudemba’s blood accusing her of causing their daughter’s death.
“When Mudemba went to Parirenyatwa to check on Farai, he was threatened by the girl’s relatives and they chased him away.
What is worrying is that the couple should have resolved the matter amicably because Mudemba might have taken advantage of the girl considering that she was an adolescent,” said the relative.
Contacted for comment, Mudemba confirmed the incident but could not give further details.
“Did you talk to Farai’s parents and hear what they have to say about the issue.
Please talk to them first and I will give you my side of the story. Besides it is not me involved but my wife so talk to her also,” he said.
Mujoko refused to entertain the media.
“Who is this? Please you are talking to the wrong person,” she said before hanging up and subsequently switching off her mobile phone.
A popular Kenyan musician identified as Sheldi Gorgeouz, has stunned his fans on social media after he took to his Facebook page on February 6, 2018, to reveal that he had bleached (whitened) his skin.
The controversial musician who launched his career back in 2011, stated that he had dug deep into his pockets to fund the procedure, adding that his bleaching should not be likened to that of popular socialite, Vera Sidika as he had to consult three top notch physicians.
He posted his new photos and wrote; “I had to hire three physicians, one from China, the other one from London, and my main physician from New York City. They manufactured a special body cream just for me, and it’s my copyright. No one else uses the cream, unless with my permission and authority.”
He stated that contrary to rumours, what he had done was not bleaching, it was brightening and that the cream he used was made exclusively for him.
“Yes, I did skin brightening. I spent 165 Million Kshs (Kenyan Shillings) it’s a lot of money but I achieved what I wanted. My skin brightening process took place in the United States, but I thank God it was successful,” the musician wrote.

Talk about names, and members of the Kardashian clan will sure make it to your list with their unique way of naming their kids. Kylie Jenner, who just welcomed a baby girl with her boyfriend Travis Scott, has finally named her baby.
Recall that Kylie Jenner explained her decision to keep her pregnancy a secret, while simultaneously announcing the baby’s birth on Instagram.
“I’m sorry for keeping you in the dark through all the assumptions,” she wrote. “I understand you’re used to me bringing you along on all my journeys. My pregnancy was one I chose not to do in front of the world. I knew for myself I needed to prepare for this role of a lifetime in the most positive, stress free, and healthy way I knew how. There was no gotcha moment, no big paid reveal I had planned. I knew my baby would feel every stress and every emotion so I chose to do it this way for my little life and our happiness.”
However after the baby’s arrival announcement her millions of fans and followers, what was running through everyone’s mind was the baby’s name.
Taking to Twitter in their droves, many people think she has been named Butterfly, after she dropped series of big hints.
Not only are there butterflies in the baby’s nursery, but Kylie Jenner, 20, and Travis, 25, have had matching butterfly tattoos done. He also has a song called Butterfly Effect and a few of the winged creatures were on her baby shower cake.
She posted a butterfly emoji on Twitter back in May as she left her fans guessing. Kylie also stepped out wearing a necklace which was embellished with the little critters, which she clutched tenderly with her hand.
Thanks to “clues” in her 11-minute video chronicling her pregnancy and social media posts by mom Kris Jenner, quite a few Twitter followers think they’ve figured it out. The name they’ve landed on: Mariposa, Spanish for “butterfly.”
E! reports that if Butterfly is a little too out there for the couple, Twitter already has some other names covered, too.
Kylie Jenner could have named her daughter Monarch, which also fits in the whole butterfly realm.
But perhaps the most notable piece of evidence regarding the baby’s name came from none other than her grandmother, Kris Jenner
Even more interesting is the fact that the lip kit is called “Posie K.”
Kris wrote, “So cute! One of my favorite @kyliecosmetics shades!! Posie K is launching as a limited edition trio set to celebrate the second anniversary! Feb 5 on KylieCosmetics.com.”

Drinking hot tea can increase the risk of esophageal cancer, especially if you are a heavy drinker or smoker, a new study has found.
But even those who don’t touch alcohol or cigarettes appear to have a higher risk, researchers warned, but they stressed more tests are needed to assess how damaging it could be.
The new study done by scientists in China found drinking tea heated to over 65C (149F) was associated with a five-fold increased risk for esophageal cancer when combined with excessive drinking or heavy smoking.
The Chinese scientists said the link was ‘biologically plausible’ as thermal injury caused by the hot tea to the gullet lining impairing its ability to act as a barrier to harmful toxins from alcohol and smoking.

Recall there would be no eviction this Sunday, as this is all a trick by Biggie to tension the housemate.
The student, who was said to be a new student, had been declared missing on January 25, 2017, after leaving her hostel to celebrate her birthday with some male friends at a popular bar in Ozoro, the administrative headquarters of the Isoko North Local Government Area.
Our correspondent gathered that the victim had left her apartment that Thursday with her mobile phone and had promised to return after the birthday party.
She never returned alive.
PUNCH Metro learnt that her remains were discovered in an open space close to a secondary school along Owhelogbo Road in Ozoro, with one of her breasts, eyes, heart and private parts removed by her killers.
A friend of the deceased’s roommate, who did not want to be identified, told our correspondent on Monday that the Science and Laboratory Technology National Diploma I student was dating one of the Yahoo boys.
The source said, “When her roommate didn’t see her around 7pm on the day she went for the party, she called to know her whereabouts and she (Happiness) said she was in Oleh and would soon return home.
“Her roommate called repeatedly around 9pm, but her number didn’t connect. The same thing happened the following day. It was at that point that the roommate raised the alarm that she was missing.
“Family members and friends had been searching for her until last Friday when her mutilated body was found along Owhelogbo Road.”
A hostel mate, who also confirmed the incident, said the deceased’s roommate had been arrested by men of the Delta State Police Command for interrogation.
The Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr. Boniface Ogarayan, could not been reached for comment, as his two telephone lines indicated that they were not available.
Also, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Andrew Aniamaka, said he had not been briefed on the killing as of the time of filing this report.
Talk about achievement.. A young man has shared his achievement on Social media, and all we cansay is.. We’re less proud.
He shared on Facebook a post that reads thus; “I’ve F**ked beyond 88.8% of The Girls I’ve Met Online. Girls Are Just USELESS. We Guys Should Change Them As Often As Everyday Just Like We Change Our Boxers and Pants. Guys Are You With Me??”
Of course the replies he got were beyond Savage, and they were mostly from the ladies..

Again Tokunbo Idowu, popularly know as TBoss has shown she’s one outspoken person, and she’s ready to give it back to her critics fire for fire.
Recall in a previous rant, TBoss aired her opinion about the uncleanliness attitude of the new Big Brother Naija Double wahala housemates.
In her rants on Instagram, she called out housemate, Princess for her unsanitary behaviour. She wrote;
”Big brother please stop that one that is putting ice cream on everyone’s lips and nipples with the same spoon.
OMG now she is sitting on the bare floor with her butt half exposed, yuck, talk about unsanitary.
Now she is putting Tobi’s sweat on another’s lip and had someone else lick it up, am I the only one seeing this?
My Gawwd, this one is talking bloody non stop, how can someone talk so much?”
Folks on social media called her out, and asked her if she was any better than the new housemates. Shes’ now fired back via her instalive video.
In the video, she said she made a “bloody obvious observation”< and reiterated that she never insulted anyone.
She said she only stated her opinion and never insulted or judged anyone.
She also didn’t forget to come for those she described as people, who’ll see her, and can’t walk up to her, but yet use their f***ng 100 naira data to insult her on social media.
One of Africa’s Bestt singer, Wizkid, a father of 3 boys, has shared shirtless pictures of himself.. from a music video scene.

Meanwhile, ‘Majek Fashek’ has advised young Nigerian musicians on the quality and sound of their songs.
Majek said he makes good sound but the likes of Davido, Wizkid, Olamide and others don’t make good sound, they just jam.
In a recent interview with HIPTV, Majek claimed there is a cut clear difference between the quality of sound and music he makes and that of young artistes.
“I make sound while all these young musicians make jam, I make good sound but they are always jamming, they don’t make good sound, they just jam. My song ‘Send down the rain’ was made over thirty years ago, but if you listen to it today, you will realize that the sound will appeal to both the old and equally the young ones because the sound is good and still relevant today, that is something the young musicians don’t have.”
Majek also said his was a simple advice and wasn’t meant to underrate or slight young artistes, but a fatherly encouragement to improve on their craft by doing good sounds that will remain evergreen.
“I didn’t mean to insult, underrate, slight or demean any young Nigerian artiste; what I did was to state the obvious. The truth is Wizkid, Olamide, Davido, and many other young Nigerian artistes are doing good music but they just need to improve on their sound for the better; I meant no form of insult”, he said.
Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, has appealed to Nigerians to re-elected President Buhari in 2019. In a statement released by his director General on Media and Publicity, Kingsley Fanwo, Governor Bello said the re-election of President Buhari in 2019 is in “the best interest of Nigerians”.
According to the governor, it is taking a lot of efforts to “rescue the country from the deep pit of economic mess” which previous administrations put it.
The statement reads: “We were here during the previous administration, and we saw what our country went through. Revelations in courts and from anti-graft agencies have shown us how bad the country was exposed to economic woes. President Muhammadu Buhari came and has continued to do his best to sanitise the country and relaunch it on the map of international reckoning. It takes more time to rebuild than to destroy. For our President to have achieved this much is magical and laudable. In the interest of Nigeria and Nigerians, President Buhari should continue to lead our country beyond 2019”.
The governor added that with the visible progress Nigeria has made in recent times, President Buhari will easily win in the 2019 election.
“Nigerians have continued to show their solidarity with the President. He will easily win again in 2019”.
Governor Bello said those opposed to President Buhari’s re-election were only exercising their fundamental right to freedom of expression and are not necessarily speaking the minds of millions of Nigerians who were at the receiving end of bad governance, corruption and terrorism before the rescue mission of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Recall that Governor Bello and six other APC governors, visited President Buhari on January 12th at the state house to urge him to seek a second term.
A new report claims that Imo state indigenes use the mot condoms than any other state in the whole of Nigeria.
Maureen Zubie-Okolo, a monitoring and evaluation specialist with United Nation Children’s Fund (UNICEF), stated that Imo state tops the chart in use of condoms in South-western states.
She disclosed this when she unveiled the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey to newsmen in Enugu, last Friday.
According to her, among the South East states, Imo has the highest figure which is 75.9%.
She said Imo is closely followed by Anambra who has 66.0% and 57.6% for Enugu while Abia and Ebonyi states are the states with the least amount of condom usage, with Abia having 53.5% and Ebonyi having 27.5%.
The official further explained that Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey was carried out in 2016/2017 by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in collaboration with UNICEF and it is used to assist the government in policy formulation.
A seven-year-old boy, Wisdom Adefemi yesterday said his father, Olusegun Adefemi sexually abused his three-year-old sister, Favour, five times.
Wisdom also accused his father of attempt to penetrate him and his five-year-old brother, Godspower, through the anus.
He gave graphic details of the alleged incident during a chat with The Nation at the police headquarters, Ikeja, alleging that their father physically assaulted him for refusing to give in.
Wisdom said: “My daddy slept with Favour from here (pointing at the private part of his sister.) He put her on the ground and then he did it. It was not once, it was five times.
“He wanted to do my own from the back but I refused. He wanted to do Godspower too. When we refused, he started beating us.”
Parading the suspect, Police Commissioner Edgal Imohimi said he was arrested on February 2, at 6, Ipakan Street, Ijede, after an official of Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC), Adekoya Sesan reported the incident.
But the suspect, denied the allegation, insisting that he was innocent.
According to him, the allegations against him were shocking, wondering what could have prompted it.
Adefemi said: “I am shocked at the allegations. I am innocent. I have never done it and I will never do it. I heard that my children accused me.of raping their sister. They never said it before me.
“I thought that they would bring them before me and ask them so that I can hear it from them directly but the police did not.
“You should know they are children and can be lured with biscuit or sweet to say anything. I do not know where that came from. I know I usually beat my kids when they do wrong. I do not think that is an offence because I would want my children to grow up badly.
“Their mother left over a year ago and since then, I have been with them. I do bricklaying job sometimes, other times, I work as a conductor to provide our daily bread.”
The police boss said Adefemi separated from his wife over alleged spousal abuse.
Imohimi said: “He inflicted grievous injury in the private part of the child as a result.of forceful penetration. Two older siblings of the survivor were not luckier as Olusegun Adefemi regularly abused by beating them with cane each time they resisted him from penetrating them.theoufh their anus.
“The girl has been taken to Mirabel Medical Centre for examination and treatment while her siblings have been placed in temporary home. The suspect would be charged to court at the end of investigation.”
President Buhari today signed an Executive Order 5 that will improve local content in public procurement with science, engineering and technology components.
The Executive Order is expected to promote the application of science, technology and innovation towards achieving the nation’s development goals across all sectors of the economy.
The president, pursuant to the authority vested in him by the constitution, ordered that all ‘‘procuring authorities shall give preference to Nigerian companies and firms in the award of contracts, in line with the Public Procurement Act 2007.’’
The Executive Order also prohibits the Ministry of Interior from giving visas to foreign workers whose skills are readily available in Nigeria.
It, however, notes that where expertise is lacking, procuring entities will give preference to foreign companies and firms with a demonstrable and verifiable plan for indigenous development, prior to the award of such contracts.
In the proclamation entitled ‘‘Presidential executive order 5 for planning and execution of projects, promotion of Nigerian content in contracts and science, engineering and technology,’’ the president also directed Ministries, Departments and Agencies to engage indigenous professionals in the planning, design and execution of national security projects.
It adds that ‘‘consideration shall only be given to a foreign professional, where it is certified by the appropriate authority that such expertise is not available in Nigeria.’

On a throwback photo, Annie’s follower gave Tuface the ‘cheat’ tag, which made Annie Idibia ask if he cheats with her.
The lady who reacted to the question, however said she had sex with Tuface in 2014 in Detroit, United States. Here’s a screenshot of the exchange below;
Recall Tuface who celebrated his 4th wedding anniversary with Annie Idibia last year, described his wife, Annie Idibia as a jealous type.
“She loves me. So she must be jealous. If I am laughing with a particular girl too much or I am going the way that I am not supposed to go, or if one girl is following me too much, she will be there to caution me. She definitely has to be protective of her man. At that point, she can tell such a girl, ‘hold your side!’ And if it is I that is doing it, she could tell me, ‘cool down, I dey here o.’
He said this while granting an interview to the Nation’s newspaper, where he bared his mind on life as a married man, the alleged scandals that have trailed his career for years and his relationship with his babies’ mothers.
Addressing a recent rumor where he allegedly impregnated a banker, he said;
“Of course it is not true. Initially, nobody said whether it was true or not. So what I did was to correct whatever impression from my twitter page. But the story still went on.
It is a serious matter because now I am married. So it is unfair for anyone to put out such story about me, perhaps because they want to sell their medium or sell their blog. It is really totally unfair to me, especially now that I am married. If I wasn’t married, we would have laughed over the matter. But now, I am. So I do not expect that people will play over such issues of emotion at this time of my life.”
