A Kogi State Pastor insisted on delivering a mentally challenged man, in the state, but then, he got the beating of his life.

Eyewitnesses present at the scene of the incident claimed that the pastor is also ‘fond of arranging with people to pretend they are mad, and then claiming he healed them after praying for them’, but today was reportedly a bad day for him.

“A mad man and a pastor fighting this afternoon..the pastor insisted on delivering the mad man and it resulted to serious beating from the mad man.. ? pastors and wetin no concern them..according to witnesses.the pastor is fond of arranging with ppl to pretend to be mad and he will now claim healing them.. Today was a wrong day for him..?”

There is bad news in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital as a serving policeman attached to the state’s police command, Mr Donatus Oyibe, yesterday afternoon reportedly committed suicide. The incidence, Daily Sun found, happened at Ukwuakpu axis of Abakaliki capital.

Also, the decomposing body of a 70-year-old woman allegedly abducted and killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Ezi Ajah, Amuro Community in Afikpo North Local Government Area of the state, Mrs Uche Oko, was found in the bush by the residents of the area.

Oyibe, a native of Ndegu Ishieke in Ebonyi Local Government Area of the state was said to have jumped inside a deep well when he went to fetch water.

According to sources close to the deceased, his tragic death might be connected with his recent transfer to Borno State. He was reportedly displeased after his posting letter was released on August 28.

The deceased’s daughter, Ukamaka, narrated that his late father took bucket to fetch water from the well but could not be seen for several hours. His unknown whereabouts created suspicion and tension that led to his search.

She added that when they got to the water well, his bucket was seen and they looked inside the well only to discover that he has died.

“He went to fetch water from our well on Sunday night but could not come back after some time that created suspicion and we started looking for him. I went to the well and saw his bucket. When I looked inside the well, I discovered that he has died” she narrated.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Loveth Ogah, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, said she was not aware of the development. She said that she would get back to our reporter but did not return as at the time of filing this report.

Five children have been orphaned after their dad died from bowel cancer – just weeks after their mum’s death from the same illness.

Omena Ubiaro, 38, had battled Stage 4 bowel cancer for three years before he passed away at a hospice in Wolverhampton in the early hours of today.

His death comes the day before his wife’s funeral after she died from bowel cancer on July 29. Last month, we reported the family’s heartbreaking plight as Omena fought for his life while grieving for his wife Makeda.

Omena had been battling Stage 4 bowel cancer for two years when Makeda was tragically diagnosed with the same disease last August. Makeda, who was also 38, underwent emergency surgery but could not be saved by doctors and died on July 29.

Friends launched a fundraising page after her death to support the family’s five sons, aged from seven to 19, with fears growing over Omena’s deteriorating health More than £20,000 has been raised through donations and the appeal remains open.

Omena and Makeda met when they were teenagers at St Francis Xavier College in Clapham, South London. They married in 2004. In 2014, the couple decided to renew their wedding vows when Omena was diagnosed with Stage 4 colorectal cancer.

Makeda was admitted to hospital for colostomy surgery but her cancer spread and she died on July 29. Her funeral is due to take place tomorrow. To support the family visit Gofundme.

A Nigerian man has shared a photo of a young woman who gave up the ghost during her Hajj trip to Mecca in Saudi Arabia.

Mumuni Iddisah who is currently on pilgrimage in the Holy land called on the family members of the woman to come and identify her.

Mumuni wrote: “This young lady lost her life in mecca during hajj pilgrimage, if you know her kindly inform her family. please try to share this picture so that we can easily locate her family. Thank you.”

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) received with great shock the death of Miss Etuk Brian Michelle, a 100 level student of Civil Engineering at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.

She had an accident on her way going back to Abuja where she based when ASUU declared indefinite strike.

She lost her life few days of medical complications.

On behalf of NANS, We wish to extend our sincere condolence to her family, May God give her parent the zeal to bear the lost.

We hope the Federal Government and the ASUU will settle their dispute and allow our students to resume back to school with immediate effect.

His wife-to-be, apparently, is said to be pregnant with their first child. His friend, Akinrinlade Ayodeji, who took to his Facebook page to mourn him, wrote;

“Omooba Adedeji Matthew Oyegbemi, Hearing the news of your death this morning remains one of the most shocking informations i’ve ever heard in my Life!

You were a wonderful friend during our days in Tasued You just got engaged last week, i even accused you of not inviting me to ur ‘wedding’, which u told me that it wasn’t the main wedding yet, it was an introduction.

Only for me to hear this morning that you are no more. What a world! Life remains nothing i swear!R.I.P Bro!”.

A 25 year old man, Chime Chinedu Afamefuna, has been saved from death after drinking a poisonous concoction suspected to be rat poison in a bid to commit suicide on August 12.

The incident took place in a classroom at Uwani Boys Secondary School Enugu.

New Telegraph reported that he was saved by a member of the Enugu State Command of the Nigerian Legion Corps of Commissionaires, Ekoh-Clement O.I., who along with his men stumbled on Chime and alerted Uwani police division.

Timely intervention of the policemen, who rushed to the scene of the incident, saved the situation as they rushed unconscious Chime to the police hospital Enugu where he was revived.

Speaking with the eyewitness, Ekoh-Clement, who is the Divisional Officer of Enugu South Division of Nigerian Legion Corps of Commissionaires, he said;

“After the field walkout and parade, they retired to one of the classrooms for briefing only to discover a young man whose name was later gathered as Chime Chinedu Afamefuna who left a suicide note, drank a poisonous substance which was believed to be an insecticide, vomited all over the classroom and was sitting in the pool of his vomit.

“The officers quickly perused the suicide note and some men were sent to an address that was left on the note where a supposed relation by name Gloria Aneke can be found while the divisional officer alongside with two other officers rushed to Uwani Police Station.

“The DPO was not in the office so the officers met the DCO (Sp Okeke Chinedu) who responded quickly and sent some of his officers to join the legionaires who came to report the incident. The young man was later taken to the police command clinic where his life was saved,” he said.

Attempt to speak to the Enugu Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police (SP) Ebere Amaraizu, was unsuccessful at press time, but a police source at the police station informed our correspondent that every effort made to extract the real motive for attempted suicide from Afamefuna proved abortive.

When the police invited Aneke, the woman whose name was on a suicide note he wrote, it was discovered that she is Afamefuna’s auntie and also sponsored his secondary school education before he ran away from home and joined street boys.

It was gathered that Afamefuna’s mother died shortly after giving birth to his immediate younger brother. Aneke said since the sad incident, she assumed the responsibility of taking care of him and his younger brother.

The auntie was said to have expressed frustrations at Afamefuna’s delinquent behaviours, a development that had seen him in and out of police cells before he finally eloped from home and started living street life.

She was said to have however expressed willingness to keep her doors open if the young man would turn a new leaf and return home. It was observed that street life possibly exposed Afamefuna to cultism.

And that perhaps he couldn’t meet up with cult demands hence the decision to take his life. Also, the last phrase of his suicide note, “IN THE NAME OF FUTA-JALUN my mother high temple”, may have something to do with either mysticism or cultism.

The CEO of Desicon Engineering Limited, Akanimo Udofia has offered the Super Eagles the sum of $20,000 for every goal scored in Monday’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying clash against Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions in Yaounde.

The young and ebullient businessman from Akwa Ibom state made the promise as he briefly greeted players and officials inside the chartered ARIK Bombadier CRJ 1000 aircraft just before take –off at the Ibom International Airport, Uyo on Sunday.

“I am a very good friend of the NFF President, Mr. Amaju Pinnick, and I am happy that I am here in time to see you guys before take –off for Yaounde.

“I watched the game against the Cameroonians here in Uyo on Friday and I am sure you have the ability to conquer them again in their own territory. I promise to reward you with $20,000 for every goal scored in Yaounde,” Udofia announced to the applause of players and officials.

Three-time champions Nigeria play Cameroon on Monday in Yaounde in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Africa qualifying race.

Leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has claimed in a new statement that the individual presently ruling the country is not President Buhari but a Sudanese national who had undergone plastic surgery in order to look like the President.

The IPOB leader made this claim while speaking to members of his group yesterday September 3rd.

“I can stand and prove who I am but Buhari cannot do the same thing. The man you are looking at on the television is not Buhari. His name is Jubril, he is from Sudan. After extensive plastic surgery, they brought him back. They taught him Buhari’s mannerisms and he came back deceiving all of you. He cannot deceive Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB,” the IPOB leader said.

The secessionist group leader also debunked a report by Sun newspaper that he is currently on the run:

“It wasn’t my wish to speak but the more I keep quiet the more they keep lying. I am under oath to defend IPOB and I will do so. We can never, ever surrender. Don’t mind the lies they are feeding you. People want to sell their newspapers, they fabricate nonsense.” he said

The Police Command in Enugu State on Sunday says it has arrested one Nnadi Daniel, a notorious armed robbery and kidnapping suspect in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of the state.

A statement by the command’s Spokesman, SP Ebere Amaraizu, noted that the arrest was part of ongoing onslaught by police operatives at Adani and Nimbo axis of Uzo-Uwani councils of the state to tackle crime in the state.

Amaraizu stated that the suspect and other suspects were arrested through a well coordinated operation borne out of intelligence information.

He said the suspect was implicated in the alleged kidnap and murder of Enechi Ejiofor and Emmanuel Okeja on Dec. 13, 2016 and Jan. 3, 2017.

The spokesman said the suspect also participated in other kidnappings, robbery, murder, burglary, stealing and other vices that had taken place in the area and its environs in the past.

He added that “in our ongoing onslaught at Adani and Nimbo axis of Uzo-Uwani council, police operatives raided an identified notorious forest known as Malaysia forest through a well co-ordinated operation.

“The command arrested many suspects among whom is a dreaded armed robbery and kidnap kingpin and a gang member of the outlawed vigilance group, as well as staunch member of a notorious cult group called Umu Malaysia that allegedly kidnap, rob and murder people, identified as Ikechukwu Nnadi Daniel a.k.a Dan.”

He said the suspect had been helping the command in its investigations in relations to their alleged criminal and nefarious activities.

Amaraizu assured the public that the command would not rest on its oars in the ongoing onslaught against crime and criminality until the entire area and its environs were made safe and secure.

“The command has vowed to sustain the tempo of the ongoing onslaught against crime and criminality in Adani and Nimbo axis of Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Nsukka Zone of Enugu State,” he said.

He emphasised that there would be no hiding place for criminally-minded persons and hoodlums under any guise. The ongoing onslaught, which commenced on Aug. 27, recorded arrest of 15 hoodlums who had been disturbing the peace of the area.
