The South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau (SANEB) have apprehended a Nigerian drug kingpin who has been on the run since December 2016.
The Nigerian man whose identity is yet to revealed had been initially asked to hand himself over after he was linked to a clandestine laboratory, which was used to manufacture Crystal Meth in Pomona.
In a recent police raid, they arrested him and also seized drugs, chemicals and drug manufacturing equipment estimated to be around R3 million from his hideout.
The 45-year-old who made a brief appearance at the Benoni Magistrates Court on Friday, February 3, 2017, was charged with Drugs and Drug Trafficking of Act 140 of 1992.
Speaking after his arrest, the head of Hawks in Gauteng, Major-General Prince Mokotedi, vowed to continue bursting more drug lords in the country.
‘We shall continue to tear the strongholds of drug lords as we remain unambiguous in our fight against drugs from communities which is included in our mandate,’ he said.

UN secretary-general, António Guterres has showed his concern for the over 201 million people that will be jobless in 2017, with an additional 2.7 million people in 2018.
In his message to the commission for social development, Guttere said the world was currently going through a challenging period.
“This year, the number of jobless people is expected to exceed 201 million and another 2.7 million could be added to the unemployment rolls by 2018. Anxiety is mounting as societies cope with urbanisation, climate change, population growth and other mega trends. A two-month-old baby, Kudus Adebowale, was abducted by a customer at a market in the Badagry Roundabout area of Lagos State.
Kudu’s mother, Mrs. Alimat Adebowale, sells biscuits in the market, while the suspected abductor was identified simply as T-girl.
According to Punch, T-girl was well known to most of the traders in the market and had lived in the community for over four years until a few months ago when she travelled.
T-girl was said to have returned to the neighbourhood last week and went to the market, where she was treated to a warm reception around 9am on Thursday.
It was gathered that she approached Alimat, who was breastfeeding the baby, Kudus, and took the child under the guise of playing with him.
She reportedly strapped Kudus to her back afterwards and sat on a chair behind his mother, who was busy attending to customers.
“Nobody knew when she (T-girl) disappeared from the market with the baby. The mother had looked back to check on Kudus, when she discovered that she had left the market with her child. We called her number, but she didn’t pick our calls. That was when it occurred to us that she had stolen the baby.
“I don’t really blame Iya Kudus. She thought the child was in a safe hand because almost everybody here knows T-girl. She would come to buy things here and play with us. She is from Ibadan (Oyo State) and had lived here for more than four years before she travelled some months ago. She came back last week,” a woman, Kemi Agboola, who sells bread and drinks in the market, said.
A resident, Kayode Paul, told PUNCH Metro that the incident was reported at the Badagry Police Station.
He said the police arrested T-girl in Ibadan after some passengers with whom she boarded a bus en route to the Oyo State capital raised the alarm.
He said,
“It was said the bus had a minor accident on the way to Ibadan and the driver had to wait for some moments. As they were waiting, Kudus started crying and the passengers urged her to breastfeed him. She refused.
“As the baby’s cries increased, they compelled her to breastfeed him and she reluctantly agreed. But the baby did not suck her breasts, which made the passengers to be suspicious. After threatening to beat her up, she said she was taking the baby to her mother in Ibadan.”
The passengers took her to the Yemetu Police Station in Ibadan, and she eventually confessed to have stolen the baby in Badagry.
“The police in Ibadan contacted the Badagry division and the mother and her husband travelled there to recover their child. He is two months old,” Paul added.
Alimat, who spoke with Punch on the telephone on Saturday, said she had been reunited with her baby. She stated that she had initially declined to give Kudus to T-girl.
She said,
“People were playing with my baby that day when she said I should also allow her to take him, but I refused. She asked if she had offended me and pleaded that I should let her carry him. I suddenly discovered that I didn’t see her again and people joined me to search for her to no avail.
“My child was two months old that day. The woman used to come here to buy drinks and play with us. I am now with my baby. We will return to Lagos on Monday (today).”
The police in Ibadan said the suspect gave her real name as Yetunde Awosanya, and identified herself as Alimat’s friend.
“She said she travelled with the baby with the consent of his mother. But after interrogation, it turned out that she was lying. The case will be transferred to Lagos,” the police source said.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, SP Dolapo Badmos, who confirmed the recovery of the child, said the suspect would be transferred to the command for further investigations.
“Investigation is still on and the Commissioner of Police has directed that the case be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation,” she added.
Following the music mogul’s announcement on Saturday that the planned nationwide protest has been cancelled, his foundation has issued a press release apologising to Nigerians who felt let down and once again explained why Tuface did what he had to do.

Ajibola Alao, 29, a member of a one-chance gang has been arrested by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command. The culprit has disclosed that his failure to heed his late mother’s advice not to steal other peoples’ sweat caused his arrest.
Alao was chased and arrested on Thursday afternoon during one of his routine operations in Oshodi after dispossessing their lone passenger of his two phones and the sum of N60,000:00.
The suspect, in company of the driver and conductor of their operational bus, a Volkswagen Transporter, with registration number, APP 820 XE, had picked up their passenger, Asotie Benedict, at Ladipo with agreed plan to drop him at Oshodi Under Bridge.
But instead, Alao and his accomplices, armed with an alternative plan did not stop at Oshodi Under Bridge for him to alight.
Citing the presence of LASTMA at that Bus Stop, they pretended they ascending the bridge towards Oshodi Oke, it was at this point they dispossessed Asotie of his two mobile phones (Blackberry Passport and Samsung) and his wallet containing N60,000:00 before forcing him to alight while the vehicle was in motion.
According to Asotie, 24,
“After throwing me out in motion, they threw N100:00 fare beside me on the road, perhaps, for me to find my way back home. But, I didn’t give up, I chased the danfo bus…. Fortunately, I sighted RRS vehicle, Response 091 and I quickly alerted them and they chased the vehicle to a halt. They arrested Alao, who took all I had on me but the driver and the conductor abandoned their vehicle and escaped.”
He added,
“All they took from me were found on him and some additional phones, which he disclosed to the police they took from previous victims of their one-chance operations.”
Alao, in his confessional statement, admitted been be part of a three man one-chance gang and that the two additional phones in his possession belonged to two previous victims of their operation in Oshodi.
He stated
“I have been in the business of one-chance since 2015. At a point, I stopped and began pickpocketing, joining buses to Sango, Agege, Oshodi, Apapa and disembarking whenever I had fleeced commuters of their phones and money…. At a time, I was arrested in Mushin Olosa Police station.
My mum, who was very ill and on admission in an hospital at that time was brought to see me in a chattered car in detention…. She pleaded with the officers and secured my bail. She warned me repeatedly never to take other peoples’ sweat.”
“She told me that if I have been using other peoples’ sweat to foot her hospital bills, I should stop it forthwith. She insisted that if I want to live long, I should stop stealing from people. She added that the consequences would be too severe for me if I go back again. Few weeks after the incident, she died,” he disclosed.
He continued:
I did it then because I needed N140, 000 to pay my house rent. At this time, I got more than that from a week’s operation but I didn’t stop then. Now, I went back into it to help raise funds for my siblings so that they won’t follow the same path…. I am the first child and the breadwinner of the family. Since the death of my mother, I have been taking care of my brothers. That was my promise to my mum before her death…. Most of my colleagues in the business were arrested by RRS last year. Few ones who were not arrested relocated to other states.”
Confirming the development, the State’s Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Police, SP. Dolapo Badmos, said that the Command will not rest on its oars in nipping in the bud criminal activities in the state.
The suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, for further investigation.

A heartless mother recently did the unthinkable after she pledged and gave her 13 year old daughter to a self proclaimed prophet as payment for spiritual services.
Munakandafa Shoko (pseudonym) faced the horror of her life when her mother (name withheld to protect the victim) pledged her to Madzibaba Jefias Nyika of Mlauzi village, Zimbabwe as payment for spiritual services provided to the family.
It is alleged that Munakandafa’s family was being tormented by a tokoloshi spirit and Madzibaba Jeremiah demanded a virgin daughter as payment to exorcise the spirit.
The court was told that, on the 13th of January this year the first accused person (Munakandafa’s mother) and Madzibaba Jefias had an agreement of pledging Munakandafa, the two agreed that Munakandafa’s mother would bring her 13 year old daughter to Madzibaba Jefias who would have sexual intercourse with the complainant and take her in as his wife.
The complainant under duress had unprotected sexual intercourse twice with Madzibaba Jefias. During the heinous act, the complainant’s mother waited outside as backup for Madzibaba. She waited outside so that if her 13 year old child screams, she would act as an alibi and also convince the complainant to keep quiet.
As fate would have it, a heroic act by the complainant’s grandmother to report the crime at Tongogara police Station led to the arrest of the two criminals.
ZimNews reports that the two accomplices in crime appeared before Shurugwi Magistrate facing charges of pledging a female person as defined in Section 94 (1) of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act Chapter 9:23 and having sexual intercourse with a young person as defined in Section 70 of the aforementioned Act.
The two accused persons are due for sentencing on a later date.
This criminal case comes when the government and nongovernmental organisations are working tirelessly to end early Child marriages as they are destroying the lives of many children in Zimbabwe.

The police in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania Saturday, arrested Tanzanian actress and Diamond Platinumz’s ex girlfriend, Wema Sepetu for allegedly being involved in drug trafficking.
Wema Sepetu was arrested alongside 10 other suspects including Tanzanian celebrities singer TID, Dogo Hamidu, and Babuu wa Kitaa, a radio presenter at a popular Tanzanian FM station-Cloud FM.
According to EDaily, the Dar es Salaam police boss Simon Sirro, said the operation to arrest the suspected drug-traffickers began Friday. Five people were apprehended, and the additional 12 arrested Saturday brings total number of suspected drug-traffickers currently in police custody to 17.
Sepetu and the other suspects will be allowed to record statements, before subsequent investigations get underway.
Meanwhile, according to Kenyan news media Tuko, Tanzanian police has also summoned Diamond Platinumz to appear come Monday, February 6, to answer to matters related to drug trafficking.
Diamond was summoned alongside other celebrities like former BBA winner Idris Sultan, singer Nay wa Mitego and MP Azan Zungu.
Diamond is currently married to Zari Hassan, a celebrity from Uganda who divorced her husband with whom they sired three boys. Zari has two children, a girl and a boy who are both less than two years old with Diamond.

A 21-year-old married man from Zimbabwe reportedly committed suicide by drinking poison after an altercation with a commercial sex worker who refused to give him her hand in marriage.
Donald Trust allegedly used Acaricide, a chemical used in dip tanks to kill himself.
Trust’s aunt, Beauty Hove said that the deceased who is survived by a wife and a child was having an affair with Modester Zhou, a sex worker.
On Sunday, Trust and Zhou had a fight at Langeni business centre after Zhou had refused to become Trust’s second wife.
“Trust allegedly stabbed Zhou with a knife once on the upper shoulder and fled the scene as some good Samaritans rushed Zhou to hospital.
“Police officers were sent to arrest Trust but the deceased who feared that the victim had died from the attack drank poison and ran away to Gwengwena Dam where he wanted to drown himself,” said Hove.
Trust was found by boys who were herding cattle but died soon after arriving at Mnene hospital because his lungs and kidneys were already damaged by the poison.
Zhou confirmed the story in an interview with The Mirror and said she was in an affair with Trust.
“Trust was my client and he was now insisting on making me his second wife but I refused,” said Zhou.
Police confirmed that Trust was on the police wanted list at the time he committed suicide.
Acting Mberengwa District Medical Doctor Gabriel Nyagurwa said it was already too late when Trust was brought to hospital for treatment.

Filmmaker, Seun Egbegbe was apprehended in Gbagada two days ago for fraud – in light of the reports, his manager has denied the arrest saying ‘Nothing of such’ happened.
The filmmaker was mobbed and arrested in November 2016 when he tried stealing nine iPhones at a Computer Village store in Ikeja. He’s expected to appear before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court over the theft case on Wednesday, February 8.
Only for him to get arrested again at the general hospital in Gbagada, Lagos after trying to dupe bureau de change operators of millions of naira while pretending to be a medical doctor.
The press statement released by the state’s Police PRO read:
‘One Seun Karim, a.k.a. Egbegbe, and one Ayo Oyekan, disguised as the MD of Gbagada General Hospital and the other as a patient.
‘They lured one Alhaji Isa Adamu and Abdullahi Haruna, both Bureau de Change members, from different locations, that they needed US9,000 dollars (2,742,750 by official rate) and £3,000 pounds (N1,142,995 by official rate).
They are now under detention at Area H in Ogudu, Lagos.
Despite all the facts, The Netng reports Seun Egbegbe’s manager denied the reports saying ‘Nothing of such’ happened.
Seun’s team is yet to release an official statement regarding the shameful incident.
Nollywood actress Empress Njamah, in a new interview with The Nation, has said there’s no expiry date for getting married.
This happened when she was asked when she plans to settle down. Empress replied:
There is never an expiry date for getting married. I don’t know why people keep asking this question.
When asked if her status as a celebrity could be one of the reasons for her delay in getting married:
It has nothing to do with it. It could happen to anyone; they are some people who won’t get married and there are some who want to get married and it is not forthcoming. And there are some who are taking their time not to jump in.

Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has warned that she’s not going to hesitate to take legal actions if controversial social media personality, Kemi Olunloyo defames her again.
Angela who is currently filming in the US declared her readiness to go after Olunloyo with the full force of law if she continues to accuse her unjustly.
Angela who spoke to Saturday Beats, said:
“Next time she opens her mouth wide again and the sewage spews out, my lawyers will go fast and hard after her. The law, the court, is the only way to put a mad dog on a leash,” she stated.
Olunloyo had reportedly alleged that Angela was having an amorous affair with the ousted President of The Gambia, Yahya Jammeh and that she received $1.5m from the $11m the former president allegedly took from the coffers of his country.
An allegation that infuriated Angela and she has dismissed, saying that it was false, baseless and the ranting of a “lunatic”. She described the US-trained journalist as “an attention seeker who preys on celebrities.”
“I have heard a bit about her. I decided to do a full background check and behold, I saw a whole lot of garbage. I discovered she makes a sport of badmouthing prominent people,” she said.
Okorie further spoke on her controversial visit to The Gambia in 2016, revealing that she wasn’t the only actress that stormed the West Africa country.
“The Gambian trip was not a solo trip. It was an industry outing that involved about ten showbiz personalities, including Emmanuel Ehumadu, Walter Anger, Klint de Drunk, I Go Save, Sharon Francis, Prince Eke, Sandra Onyeka, Moyo Lawal and Mr. Patrick,” Angela said.

Classic Nollywood actress, 40 year old Rita Dominic, has reiterated that she would soon have a child. She had last year, during a Facebook live chat, spoke on her plans for motherhood.
She told her fans that she loved children and she was working on getting one.
In a new interview with Saturday Beats, Rita fondly called Riri, reiterated that saying:
“You know I don’t normally answer questions about my private life but my child is coming soon,”
The movie producer, however, refused to answer questions about her relationship.
Known to have featured in about four movies with fellow actor, Femi Jacobs, some Nigerians have speculated that an amorous relationship may be brewing between both thespians but the actress described their relationship as platonic, stating that Jacobs was just her “buddy” and nothing else.
“Acting in those movies with Femi was not really planned except his feature in ‘The Meeting’ which was his first major film. We held an audition and he impressed us most for the role. Maybe after other producers watched the movie, they liked us together and began to cast us alongside each other. Femi and I are friends and when you are close to someone, it helps with the on-screen chemistry. We are buddies,” she said.
