Pastor Keion Henderson of The Lighthouse Church, Houston, put a smile on the face of his mom as he bought her a brand new SUV for Christmas.
Sharing the photo, the pastor wrote on his IG page:
This woman has saw to it that every broken place in my life was held together by the adhesive of her love. She worked at Taco Bell making $7 an hour for years to put clothes on our backs, a roof over our heads, and food in our stomachs. My mother has never had much. And I made her a promise at 17 years old that one day I would be able to erase every memory of every dry season of her life. Now that I’m older I realize that that’s not totally possible, but I am going to do my part. So today I say to you mother, Merry Christmas. For the 9 months you carried me, never missed a basketball game, every play and every graduation you attended. This is a small token of my appreciation to you for giving me life and most of all for giving me fight. I will love you forever. #MerryChristmas

An Osun State High Court sitting in Ile Ife has sentenced a couple – Fatai Jimoh and Lateefat Jimoh – to death by hanging for armed robbery and the murder of one Mrs. Bukola Taiwo of Ikeketu, Ile Ife.
Taiwo was said to have gone on a business trip to Ile Ife on August 12, 2009, and slept over at the Jimohs’ apartment.
It was learnt that the victim, who was a palm oil dealer, used to come from Ibadan, Oyo State, to buy palm oil at Ile Ife.
Taiwo was said to have bought 70 jerrycans of palm oil and kept them at the apartment of the couple. But the couple reportedly sold 48 jerrycans and promised to pay her back when she discovered the theft.
The couple, however, attacked the woman, who later died in a hospital.
The convicts were arraigned on June 2, 2014, on three counts of murder, conspiracy to murder and armed robbery respectively, which violated Section 316 (1), with punishment under Section 319, Cap 34, Law of Osun State and Section 1 (1) 2 (a) of the Robbery and Fire Arms (Special Provision) Act, Law of the Federation of Nigeria, 2000.
The couple had pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
The prosecutor, during the trial, had called four witnesses and tendered 10 exhibits.
The prosecutor had told the court that Fatai strangulated the victim, while his wife smashed Taiwo’s head with a hammer after which the couple stole the victim’s purse and removed the sum of N48,780.
The Principal State Counsel, Mr. Faremi Moses, presented the hammer which the couple used on the deceased and other exhibits before the court.
The witnesses called by the prosecuting counsel were a police inspector, a pathologist from the University College Hospital, Ibadan, the Baale of Ikeketu and a neighour, who witnessed what happened.
Justice Onibokun, in his judgment, said the wife’s confessional statement to the police was taken as paramount and her confession was true.
The judge found the husband and wife guilty of two out of the three charges preferred against them.
Onibokun said, “The evidence of the prosecutor is cogent, reliable and credible, and the accused are therefore found guilty of murder and armed robbery after careful examination of the facts before the court.
“I hereby sentence them to death by hanging for murder and armed robbery, while they are discharged for conspiracy.”

The National Council of Women’s Society (NCWS) has disclosed that 90 per cent of female prisoners in the country were either pregnant or nursing mothers.
The society’s president, Mrs. Gloria Shoda, made the disclosure yesterday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital at the inauguration of new executives.
She appealed to the Federal Government to formulate policies to protect female prisoners. She also urged the National Human Rights Commission to intervene to stop all forms of discrimination against female prisoners who are awaiting trial.
According to her, assisting women with the relevant skills could help in building a better society. She said: “It is only when women are considered as the center of development that the economy could be better developed.
“We urge government to integrate gender into its developmental agenda by including them in public policy and governance. Women and girls are facing so many unpleasant challenges in the country. Everyday, the newspapers report incidents of violence against them even in the internally displaced persons camps.”
She urged them to embrace the nationwide slogan of “change begins with me,” to support one another.

Now it feels as though the whole thing is metaphoric, just when we sheepishly thought that there was gonna be some social media romance buzzing as the year ends.
The media personality has responded to the City FM OAP’s marriage proposal he made earlier today, showing encomium on the author. After stumbling across the post, the media personality responded as thus:
A man has brutally assaulted his live-in lover after she went out to celebrate the victory of Ghana President-elect, Nana Akufo-Addo.
The woman had gone out around Tafo area of Ghana to celebrate the victory of New Patriotic Party, NPP presidential candidate in the just concluded Ghana election.
The man who supports the ruling party of John Mahama who lost the election, beat her mercilessly, leaving her bruised and in pain.
Popular Nollywood actor, Prince Eke, is currently trending on social media after he took to his Instagram page to call out his famous wife, Muma Gee for abandoning their 3-month-old baby for four weeks and running off to Abuja, adding that she was seen in night clubs with different men.
“This is not a cheap publicity, I am not washing my dirty linens in the public, neither do I want to invoke pity. How nice is it for a woman to abandon her 3 months old bay for 4 weeks and ran off to Abuja with God knows who and is being seen in Abuja at public joints and night clubs with different men. I really cant stomach it any longer and at this point the world should know for posterity sake,” he wrote in post which he later deleted.
As his post went viral online and was trailed with mixed reactions and criticisms, he deleted the post and replaced it another, check on it below;

A 24 year old man, who goes by the name, Bakare Babalola Rotimi Jnr has been apprehended by the Lagos state police command for allegedly stabbing his 59 year old father, Bakare Babalola Rotimi, to death at their home in Magodo, Lagos state on Sunday December 4th.
According to a report by Sahara Reporters, Rotimi’s parents ordered him back to Nigeria from Ireland after it was discovered that he was a drug addict after living in Dublin since when he was seven years old.
He was expected to go to school but he ended up getting himself involved in drugs.
“This boy doesn’t even have an education. He has been living in Dublin as a kid and he refused to go school, instead he got addicted to drugs,”a family source said
The source added that on the day of the attack, the accused was passing the night at his parents home when he accosted his father in the toilet and ordered him to lie flat on the floor. He then brought out a knife he hid behind him and stabbed his father on the back.
His mother, after hearing her husband shouting for help, ran to the toilet only for her to also get stabbed. The father died on the spot while the mother was resuscitated by medical officers at the emergency bay on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
“He thought he had killed both of them. After stabbing them, he pulled out a cloth to cover them, and he went to the bathroom to clean up. He got dressed, took his father’s phones, his ATM cards and went straight to the father’s fuel station at Palm Avenue. He got there and started harassing the station manager, demanding for money.” the source said
The police was invited and the suspect was arrested. He has been transferred to the Homicide Section at the Lagos State CID in Panti for further interrogation.
“Just like his other brother (who is) studying Medicine in the US, he has been begging this boy to go to school and this has always been the cause of the misunderstanding.”the source added
Lol… Asides from the striking resemblance though, who would have known that the singer is the older one if not told?! Hehe… He really looks like his forefather for real!
The singer shared this snap with his younger brother and he himself admits that he looks older than him. They look good though… Some brother goals!
Like seriously, did he really?! The singer claims he invested N25m in MMM that has currently frozen the accounts of it’s participants.
He wrote on his IG page;
“That moment when u waiting for January 2017… God cover me over my enemies and mmm, 25m na waooo! My manager @woleogundarepush me to this smh #sad”
Hopefully, he’s lying… 25M?! Probably, his own is the VIP investment… Hehe… cause ardent sources who are part of the scheme disclosed that the highest you can invest in MMM for a 30 day period is N3.8m..
So where did our oga invest his own 25m ?! MMM VIP OFFICE? Hehe…
In the wake of the recent development about MMM Nigeria and accounts being frozen till January 2017, some participants who had hopes of cashing out this December to have a sumptuous festive season are already regretting joining the scheme.
In a mail sent to Laila Ijeoma, a participant who claimed she put all her life savings in the scheme after much persuasion from friends, is shaken about the turn out of events.
According to her, the money she put in the money doubling scheme is not totally her money and it was a bid to make more before Christmas that made her join the scheme in November 24.
Read the mail below:
“Hello Laila, I am finished. It was only last 2 week that i decided to try this MMM thing since all my friends were making money from it. An Instagram user, Ex.elle shared this eye opening story moments ago, please read!
God has yet proven himself to be my God AGAIN!!! Babes!! Guys!! This is Christmas season.. Shine your eyes!!! I arrived the market (Lagos island) At about 2:30pm this afternoon I got to Lagos Island. I needed to get some stuffs. On getting there.
An old woman kept following me.. She be like “my dear, keep your money very well. This is Lagos, thieves are everywhere ” I was telling her thank you as per good mother.. She also said I should hold part of the money I was with so even if my bag was snatched I have something to fall back to.. That was how I foolishly brought out the money from my bag.. She picked up a nylon.. Trying to help me tie my money.. In the course of doing that.. She swapped the money.. She tied paper with nylon.. Gave me the nylon that had paper and took my money.
I kept saying “ese ma” thank you in Yoruba.. As that was what we were conversing with… In less than two seconds.. I’m not ashamed to say I was alerted by the Holy Spirit.. I turned back and was looking at her.. ( I never knew my money was missing) immediately she opened her pant and brought out my money .. Dumbfounded I was… I ran in shock to my friends shop.. When I got there, I opened the nylon she gave to me at first.. Only to see that it was newspapers.. My brothers n sisters.. Biko help me thank this God… And please y’ll be watchful, anywhere you find yourself.. It’s only God love that is real??
The protesting Super Falcons have returned to their Agura Hotel, Abuja after the Presidency promised to pay the money owed them by the Nigeria Football Federation on Friday.
The female national team members who protested at the National Assembly gates on Wednesday morning with placards over the non-payment of their allowances by the Nigerian Football Federation, had some days ago, won the 10th African Women Cup of Nations, beating hosts Cameroon 1-0 in an explosive final in Yaounde.
It was a record eighth title for the Nigerian ladies who instead of being honoured and celebrated were ridiculed as their allowances were denied them forcing them to protest.
It is believed each player is entitled to about $25,000.
The girls, however, returned to their hotel after the Chief of Staff to President Buhari, Abba Kyari, addressed them and promised to offset their bills in two days.
The lady’s man, who wants a controversial journalist (we all know), wants to be shagged by, is spending some quality time with his lovely second daughter, Sophia, he has with ex-beauty queen, Anna Banner.
The dad and daughter be having some intimate daughter-daddy bonding as they take new snaps. His daughter is such a cutie you see! Continue below:
Access into the National Assembly this morning is an Herculean task as all three entry gates have been shut by security operatives.
The action is preparatory to President Muhammadu Buhari’s anticipated visit to the National Assembly today to present the estimates of the 2017 budget to senators and members of the House of Representatives.
However, Buhari is still in the Gambia and there is an uncertainty that he will meet the scheduled 12pm appointment.
Members of staff have been denied access and all other organisations rendering services within the complex have been shut out.
Long queues of vehicles and crowds of anxious people are noticed along the entry points.

Members of the female football national team, the Super Falcons, have stormed the National Assembly, protesting the non-payment of their allowances by the Nigerian Football Federation.
The team won the 10th edition of the African Women championship just held in Cameroon.
It was the 8th time Nigeria won the competition.
But, the victorious team members have been held up in a hotel in Abuja, many days after they returned to the country with the trophy, owing to non-payment of their entitlements.
They protest daily on the streets of Abuja and have vowed never to leave the hotel until their allowances were paid.
The ladies are hoping that President Muhammadu Buhari, who is due to visit the National Assembly today to present the estimates of the 2017 budget to lawmakers, will see them and show pity on their plight.
Some of their placards read, “We are your children, pity us”; “Let us respect women”; “female football deserves respect.”

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has seized at least 12 properties from a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Bala Mohammed, and his son, Shamsudeen Bala, Punch reports.
It was learnt on Tuesday that the seizures were part of investigations into a controversial land swap deal carried out by the minister to the tune of N1tn between 2010 and 2015.
“So far, we have seized about 12 properties from Bala Mohammed and his son, who he used in buying many properties. However, this is just a tip of the iceberg because we found out that there are still a lot of properties to be recovered’’, a source in the EFCC said on Tuesday.
After investigations, we will arraign Bala (ex-minister) before an FCT High Court while his son will be arraigned before a Federal High Court anytime from now, the source added.”
Mohammed, who has been in EFCC custody for over six weeks, is alleged to have entered into some controversial land deals and allegedly gave some landed properties to his cronies for the construction of malls.
The source said, “We have evidence that the ex-minister diverted funds from Internally Generated Revenue. He also gave land arbitrarily to friends without following due process. Some of the land had even been allocated to other people but seized from them unjustly.”
Already, the commission has grilled a former Chairman of Skye Bank, Tunde Ayeni, who was also the Chairman of ASO Savings & Loans Plc over the purchase of the N7.5bn ASO Grove Estate at the Maitama area of Abuja by the bank through the ex-minister.
A detective in the EFCC, while speaking with Punch correspondent, alleged that the former minister was also a front for Mrs. Patience Jonathan, the wife of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.
Mohammed became very close to the Jonathan family in 2009 when he called for the adoption of the doctrine of necessity when the then President Umaru Yar’Adua was critically ill and unable to perform his functions as President.
It was through this process that Yar’Adua was declared incapacitated and paved the way for the then Vice-President Jonathan to become the acting President and later President.
As FCT minister, Mohammed revoked the 1.84 hectares of land allocated to Yar’Adua’s wife, which was meant for her organisation, Women and Youth Empowerment Foundation.
The ex-minister then allocated the land to Patience for the construction of African First Ladies’ Peace Mission’s secretariat, stating that the move was in the interest of the public.
An FCT High Court, however, described the land grab as illegal and returned it to Mrs. Yar’Adua. A source at the EFCC, however, said there was evidence to show that the ex-minister had given other plots of land to Patience in a similar fashion.
“We have evidence to show that Bala Mohammed was a front for Patience Jonathan. He abused his position and used it to allocate land to her as well. Patience has several business interests in Abuja, including a hotel,” a source stated.
Patience has since written a petition to the House of Representatives, accusing the EFCC of harassing her and her associates.
In an interview with journalists in 2015, the ex-minister denied abusing his office, stating that he was loyal to the Jonathan family and was only helping Patience with her African First Ladies’ Peace Mission’s project by providing her with free land.
He had said,
“People say all sorts of things about my family: that I have stolen so and so billions; I have given plots of land to the first lady. People are always insinuating that the first lady has so much in the FCT and they are all lies.
“Most people talk this way because they want to see a situation to cause friction; an example is what happened with our support of the First Lady Mission.
It is an African Union initiative. It is not personal to the first lady, it is a global initiative, but some highly-placed Nigerians were insinuating that we were taking FCT resources to service the first lady. It is not so.”
