Nemesis caught up with five robbery suspects, Sunday, in Lagos, when their get-away car skidded off Eko Bridge by Iddo, while in flight, killing three of the suspects and one innocent bystander, a man who the car fell on.
It was gathered that two of the suspects sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital, while the dead bodies were deposited at a mortuary.
The incident was said to have occurred during the downpour at 2.15 pm.
General Manager of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu, who confirmed the incident, said preliminary investigation revealed that the occupants in the car could be robbers as several dangerous weapons were recovered from the car.
According to Tiamiyu,
“the agency received a distress call regarding a lone accident at Iddo Bridge at 2.15p.m.
“On arrival at the scene of the incident, the Emergency Response Team, ERT, of the agency discovered a grey-coloured Hyundai ix 35 with number plates SMK 485 CM, which skidded off the Eko Bridge by Iddo Terminus and fell on a man, who died immediately.
“Three of the suspected robbers died immediately, one escaped with injuries, while the fifth was taken to the hospital by Lagos State Ambulance Service, LASAMBUS.
“The dead bodies, three suspected armed robbers and one other person identified as a mechanic named Nwamba, were handed over to State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit, SEHMU, and were subsequently taken to the mortuary, while the vehicle was towed to Denton Police Station, Ebute Meta, by the agency.”
According LASEMA boss, items found on the victims include one locally-made double-barrelled pistol with five live cartridges, one laptop, mobile phones and a dollar note.
Tiamiyu, who advised residents to always be security conscious at all times, said the matter had been handed over to Nigeria Police for proper investigation.
Often times, we have witnessed extreme fasting and praying events in Nigerian churches, but this disheartening story of Aradhana Samdariya takes the cake.
According to Tribune, the 13-year-old collapsed and fell into a coma two days after she completed a 68-day fast. She later died of cardiac arrest in their southern Hyderabad city in India.
Newsmen gathered that Aradhana’s family, who practice the religion called Jainism, coerced her into partaking in the religious event called Chaturmas all for their commercial success. Now her death has been ruled as homicide.
“As of now nothing is clear,” the police officer in charge of the case told the press. “The body was cremated and our investigation will rely on the doctor’s report. We will question the family before moving ahead.”
However, the deceased girl’s family claims she ‘pledged’ to observe the Chaturmas which required her drinking only boiled water. After she completed the fast, her community celebrated her, with many taking selfies with her. Upon her death on October 4, she was quickly cremated and celebrated as the ‘child saint’.
Over 600 people attended her funeral.
Following the revelation that a priest had told the family to get the child to go on the fast for prosperity in their business which was recently flopping, her grandfather denied this.
“It was about her faith. No one forced her to fast. She fasted for 34 days in 2015 and eight days in 2014,” Samdariya told AFP. “People came to show sympathy with the family after she died. There was no religion involved. She was quite devoted and we are not superstitious.”
In an exclusive interview with Daily Sun, award-winning Ghanaian actor, Frank Artus, who is born to an Egyptian father and Liberian mother, has spoken out on his secret daughter, why he can act nude in a movie, his most embarrasing moment as a popular celebrity and much more.
Below are excerpts from the chat;
Who is the real Frank Artus?
Frank Artus is a quiet and intelligent person by nature. He is more like an introvert; I’m not a sociable kind of person. I always stay indoor. I go out once in a while. Somebody met me one day and said: ‘Please, Frank, take me to this club’. Then I said: ‘I don’t know’. He was like ‘you live in Ghana and you don’t know?’
We are surprised to hear that you have a daughter. Did you have a secret marriage?
I don’t like to discuss my relationship in the public. I’m cool with that but I do have a daughter.
How do you feel bringing your daughter into entertainment?
I encourage my children to do whatever they desire, provided I’m going to guide them. I tell my children the positive and negative sides of everything. And I will guide them through it.
How do you feel being a father?
I feel awesome. Responsibility is huge (laughs), sometimes it is choking but at the end of the day, you will get to enjoy it, most especially when you see that your children are doing extremely well in school.
What is your greatest achievement in Nollywood?
My greatest achievement is having many fans. When I go to places, people tend to recognise me. I think that is one of the greatest things I have achieved. Before coming to Nollywood, I would go to places and people would not recognise me. But now they recognise me any where I go.
What is the craziest thing a fan has done to you?
Two of my fans in America tattooed my name on the back of their hands. I actually thought it was a fake tattoo, but later I realised it was real. And guess what, it’s not just a small tattoo; it is huge.
What is the craziest thing a female fan has done to you?
Apart from always demanding sex from you as an entertainer, which you don’t have to give them, you have to work with the flow. It is not as if you are going to tell them that what they want is what you are going to give them, but you have to be very flexible with them in their demands, because they are fans and they are the ones who keep you in the market.
Your fans see you as a s*x symbol. Did you set out to be a s*x symbol?
Obviously not, sometimes my friend will say ‘people see you like this but they don’t even know you’. That is how it should be. And that is why I don’t want the youth to look at me as such. And that’s why I said they shouldn’t copy what I do in movies. No, that is not me, it is just a character.
Can you act nude?
It depends on the script. There should be a reason for it.
A woman recently accused you of defrauding her, what do you have to say?
She has already apologised, so there is no need to comment on it.
A lot of fans look up to you. What advice would you give to them?
I will advise them not to copy what I do in movies. What I act in movies is not the real me. There is a difference between what I do on screen and my personal life.
Frank is a crazy guy on screen and everybody knows that, so they should try and follow my personal lifestyle and not what I do in movies.
The actor who is now reportedly fighting for his life at the Lagos General Hospital has called on Nigerians to help him.
Daily Post reports that Alabi who spoke on his sickness, said, “I went to bed at about 8:30 pm that fateful day with the intention of waking up at 1 am. When it was about 9 pm, I had a strange expulsion on my right leg.
“Immediately, the leg started burning and I screamed throughout the night. The following morning I couldn’t move the leg again. It was a spiritual attack. That’s what has kept me under this condition,” he narrated.
Putting to rest the allegations that he has been battling diabetes for years, the actor said that he only discovered his diabetic state after he was hospitalised.
Meanwhile, Alabi said that the hospital management is yet to come to a conclusion pertaining to the amputation of his leg.
Alabi added, “I may be evicted from the hospital any moment from now because I have no money to sustain my stay here. I don’t want to die. I am calling on well-meaning Nigerians to come to my rescue.”
There it was, clear as day, two blue lines staring back at me from the small pregnancy test I had just purchased.
I double checked…
One line = not pregnant.
Two lines = pregnant.
Yup, I was definitely pregnant.
My heart was pounding.
My head was spinning.
My stomach was churning.
I was nervous, excited, scared and ecstatic all at the same time.
This was actually happening! After years of dreaming, preparing for and anticipating this day, it was finally here. I was going to be a mother.
Little did I know that in nine short months, I would begin the most exhausting, life-changing, heart-wrenching, but indescribably rewarding journey of my life.
In nine months, I would learn the price of motherhood firsthand. I would know exactly what it takes to be a mother. I would gain a whole new understanding of and gratitude for the beautiful woman I call Mom.
I would learn about things mothers experience that their children often know very little about.
Here are 10 things your mom never told you.
1. You made her cry… a lot.
She cried when she found out she was pregnant. She cried as she gave birth to you. She cried when she first held you. She cried with happiness. She cried with fear. She cried with worry. She cried because she feels so deeply for you. She felt your pain and your happiness and she shared it with you, whether you realized it or not.
2. She wanted that last piece of pie.
But when she saw you look at it with those big eyes and lick your mouth with that tiny tongue, she couldn’t eat it. She knew it would make her much happier to see your little tummy be filled than hers.
3. It hurt.
When you pulled her hair, it hurt; when you grabbed her with those sharp fingernails that were impossible to cut, it hurt; when you bit her while drinking milk, that hurt, too. You bruised her ribs when you kicked her from her belly; you stretched her stomach out for nine months; you made her body contract in agonizing pain as you entered this world.
Long time actress, Empress Njamah has said people saying she enhanced her buttocks to make them big are learners and as a matter of fact they actually don’t see well.
According to her, she ‘enhanced’ it naturally by losing some body weight which automatically made her butts reduce and it was on purpose.
Speaking with Kemi Lanre Aremu, the actress said;
I did not enhance my buttocks. I have always had big buttocks. Whoever says I tampered with my bottom is a learner.
I actually reduced my buttocks because I used to like to wear a particular design and size. As a result, I had to lose weight to fit into it. My bottom reduced when I lost some weight. I’m not against people enhancing their bodies.
They have their reasons for doing so but I would rather go to the gym than go under the knife because the after-effect of surgery is worse than going to the gym.
If you really want to enhance your body, you can exercise and get the natural enhancement.
In what could best be described as a horrible case of someone jumping from frying pan into fire, 20-year-old Kumi Mallam Jayi, is now awaiting arraignment in court for the alleged gruesome murder of Hassan Adamu, 27, his friend.
Jayi allegedly hacked Adamu to death on September 10, 2016 by beheading him with his cutlass. He also cut off one of Adamu’s legs, in an apparent attempt to dismember him and make his body untraceable.
The incident happened at Jato Mariga under Azara Development Area, Nasarawa State.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr Abubakar Sadiq Bello, who gave the gory details of the alleged murder said the path that led up to the horrendous incident began when Jayi sought the advice of Adamu over his inability to have intercourse with his wife. He was deeply disturbed that three years
after marrying, he had no child to show for it, due largely to his inability to sustain an erection.
Adamu after considering Jayi’s request was said to have offered to help him to overcome the predicament.
At the headquarters of the police command, where he spoke with Sunday Sun reporter, Jayi recounted the background to the horrific incident.
Two burglars got more than they bargained for recently after picking the wrong house to break into. Garfield Morgan, 54, and his 36 year old accomplice friend Kim Gorton are both career burglars, having stolen from hundreds of homes in their lives.
But it’s unlikely they’ll go back to crime after the traumatic episode they experienced in the home of Harry Harrington…
Harry Harrington is 6’7 and weighs over 136kg of pure muscle. He’s a notorious gay se-x predator who has served time in jail for numerous se-xual assaults. An aggressive and predatory offender, he’s not the kind of man you want to annoy. But that’s just what Morgan and Gorton did that fateful night.
Garfield and Kim broke through the backdoor of Harry Harrington’s house in Florida.
The heavily built Harrington caught them in the act and easily overpowered them.
He tied them up and for 5 days used them as his se-x slaves, banging their poor back ends almost to death.
Only a neighbor who heard cries and alerted the police saved them from their painful and horrific experience.
As you can see from their mug shots above, the men were extremely traumatized by their ordeal. What they went through is inexcusable, but many online commentators are saying that they deserved some kind of retribution for their crimes. But…five days of being raped by a man is a bit much, isn’t it?
The men face burglary charges, while Harrington is facing another stretch inside prison for his actions.

A woman has reportedly revealed how she wanted to destroy prophet T.B. Joshua, the General Overseer of The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) during his last crusade in Peru.
According to the lady, a huge force restricted her from destroying the pastor when she got close to him.
Read the press release by the church:
Uncontrollably welling within, her anger reached bursting point. Only one devilish thought flashed incessantly through her mind – to destroy TB Joshua at all cost. Rushing towards him in a violent fit of rage, a supernatural force suddenly hit her, crashing her to the ground. Evil was defeated!
The malicious spirit of anger had plagued Cezia Carassa’s life for almost as long as she could remember. “I used to hit my husband and punch him in the face,” she recalled. “I used to get really mad. It was really strange force inside me.”
Cezia didn’t really want to attend the crusade with Prophet TB Joshua but curiosity eventually triumphed and she decided to join 50,000 other attendees at the historic event.
“When the Mass Prayer started, I went down to the pitch because I wanted to destroy Prophet TB Joshua,” she candidly described. “I felt a huge force inside me. I wanted to attack everyone. I wanted to destroy.”
The demonic spirit of anger had been rudely exposed by the Spirit-filled prayer! “When I got near to the prophet, I felt some strength and force pushing me away from him. And then I fell.”
Since that Divine encounter, an incredible sense of peace and tranquility has filled Cezia’s life. “I felt that the opposite force that was pushing me to destroy things were gone. But other force made me new. I felt brand new! When I looked at the mirror, I was not the same. Before I used to look like an angry women, but right now I feel very new. And I look even younger!” Truly, the evidence of Jesus Christ is lives changed!
Ghana’s U-23 coach, Malik Jabir has blamed excessive sex’ as a major setback for stars performance on the football pitch. Speaking in a recent interview published on VibeGhana, the retired football striker said:
‘A lot of today’s players cannot play 90 minutes because they get tired so easily, And you know why? Because they don’t sleep enough and don’t train enough and they engage in too much sex..’
Malik Jabil who represented the Black Stars at the 1968 and 1972 Olympic Games, is currently a technical advisor for Asante Kotoko S.C. in the Ghana Premier League.
Unarguably one of Nigeria’s most talented thespians, Joke Silva, speaks about her award-winning career, marriage and other related matters.
What do you remember of the time you began acting?
What I remember was that it was incredible fun. It was at the University of Lagos and I was part of the cultural centre. We used to rehearse plays directed by the late Prof. Bode Osanyin, and we performed at places like the Goethe Institute and British Council. We were always performing.
Why did acting appeal to you?
I enjoyed performing for people. I think I had more fun before I went for my training than I did after training. I performed with the University of Lagos, went to Nigerian Television Authority, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria and from there, I went to perform at the National Theatre.
Soon after, I went to train in England. I went to the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Arts, London. When I completed my training, I returned home after a stint at The Royal Court Theatre. I also did a little bit of work with the British Broadcasting Corporation.
How and when did you notice your flair for acting?
My parents were the ones who enjoyed watching me perform. When I was in primary school, we had a stage production called The Merry Peasant or The Stranger.
It was a musical and I played the Merry Peasant. This was something I did in my final year in primary school. Years later, someone saw me and said, “Were you not the Merry Peasant? You were excellent.” I continued performing in secondary school, Holy Child College, Obalende and when I went for my A levels in Bournemouth.
I also sat for the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts examinations. I did that up to gold medal.
How come your parents encouraged you to pursue a career in acting at a time when most parents frowned at such?
I think part of it had to do with the fact that they were both professionals. My late mother was a medical doctor, and my late father was a lawyer but both of them also enjoyed the arts.
My mother played the piano and when my father was at the London School of Economics, he would join his friends who were on film sets in London. My mum did her A levels abroad and studied Medicine in Liverpool.
My mother had a schoolmate who became a very successful actress and she used to watch her on the big screen. For them, it was what I loved doing.
However, they also tried to caution me because they knew it was a hard profession. My father’s cousin was the late Uncle Jab Adu of the Village Headmaster and Adio Family fame. He was very good friends with the Olusolas.
My parents knew it wasn’t really a piece of cake to be an actress in any country and becoming an actress in Nigeria, was doubly difficult. For them, they would have preferred if I had a fallback plan.
My father was interested in me having Law as a fallback plan. I think with me, there was an understanding of my nature very early on in life that if I should had a fallback plan and things got difficult, I would just quit.
I think that was part of the reason I was pretty stubborn with them about not wanting a fallback plan. Also, when I had my gap year, they saw how much I flourished and thrived as an actress. They both felt that since acting was what I had been wired to do, then there was a need for me to get proper training.
Did you read a theatre-related course at the university?
I did not go to university until years later. I had been working for quite a couple of years, I had been married and I was expecting our second child when I went to UNILAG to study English.
How is the industry different from when you started out as an actress?
Then, there wasn’t that much work. I could function on the various platforms of theatre and television. At that time, there were not many films. The films that were being done at that time were few and far between. It was usually with the late Pa Hubert Ogunde, who I really wanted to work with but never got the opportunity to do so. I was really upset about not being able to work with Pa Ogunde, Ade Afolayan and Baba Sala. I did more theatre and quite a lot of television. Now, there is a lot more work. Once you are a good actor and you have been able to network properly, you are rarely going to be out of work.
When did you get your career breakthrough?
It was probably in the early eighties and in three different films; Owuro Lojo, which did exceptionally well and brought me to the notice of the Yoruba audience. There was Violated, which brought me to the notice of the English-speaking audience and then, there was theatre which sealed my professionalism and acumen. That was The King Must Dance Naked by Fred Agbe.
Have there been times you felt like quitting?
I have been acting for about three decades and I always feel like quitting until the next job comes.
What have you done to remain relevant over the decades?
I think a good actor is one that continues to learn about their craft and is always willing to learn. You can’t say because you have been acting for years, then you know everything. A lot of times, you are working with a different director, so they bring something new to the table. Of course, because you have experience, you can think along with the director on some things but I think it also important to be open to the experience, learn , see where the character is taking you. No two characters are the same. Do you have retirement plans?
What for? Acting is one job that you don’t need to retire from because you have people in real life who live to be 100 years old and above.
What does one need to build a successful acting career?
A lot of people say humility gets you a long way but sometimes humility can be a very interesting word to define. I think getting along with people, always being willing to try new experiences as long as they are not harmful help to build a great career. I think longevity in the industry also has to do with being aware that there are changes happening. Some changes are good and some are bad. There are some changes that you must help to nurture.
Are you impressed by the current generation of actors?
Yes, I am. I have worked with some of them on Gidi Up and they are an amazing crop of talents. I work with a lot of them in the theatre as well and they are totally dedicated to their work. Of course, you do find a few who come in because they want the fame. I am not interested in those, I am interested in those who are totally dedicated to their craft and continue to up the ante.
What brought about the Lufodo Academy of Performing of Arts?
I felt that there was a gap in the training of actors. You had either the Theatre Arts degree awarded by the universities or you had training that was informal in which you apprenticed with a company.
We felt that the gap was the academy that you find in other parts of the world. The training is totally practical and it is usually between two and three years. Sometimes it might be less depending on your experience or level of theatre awareness.
The academy is going on to its fourth year, but right now, we are on a break. We are restrategising but we should back again on stream in January.
Do you consider yourself lucky to be married to someone in your industry?
I am very lucky to be married to the man that I am married to. Firstly, because he is my friend more than the fact that he is in my industry. That I would marry someone in my industry was not farfetched because I was always around people in my industry and I was not mixing with too many people outside my industry. He is somebody who has incredible passion for his work, believes in his work and he has so much respect for his work. I think that is my gain from being married to him.
How did you meet?
We met at the National Theatre whilst we were working on the production of Jero’s Metamorphosis.
Did you not entertain fears about getting married to someone in the limelight?
It did not even occur to me that there was likely to be that kind of stress until we started experiencing it. We managed it by God’s grace.
How have you been able to stay married for 30 years?
God is amazing because it is not as if we have a fantastic formula. We have had times when each party was like, “Lord, is this what this marriage is all about?”
Have there been times when your ego as celebrities got in the way of the marriage?
Not really. It is us as human beings finding it difficult to navigate whatever part of the marriage experience we are in at that point in time. Thankfully, God has been extremely faithful and we have been able to weather the storms.
How do you create a work-life balance?
I am not sure that any such thing exists. I think that is in people’s imagination. You just do the best that you can with whatever you are dealing with, irrespective of whether its work or family. If there is a balance, more credit to you.
How do you like to relax?
Watching television but I am more likely to relax watching foreign television than I will watching Nigerian television. Watching the latter is work for me because it is my industry, so I am watching it critically and I can’t get lost in it. For the foreign ones, I can get totally lost in it. Sometimes it is utter rubbish but I couldn’t care less because it has done what it is supposed to do, which is to relax me.
At 55, how you keep fit?
It is God’s grace again because I don’t exercise and that is really bad. It drives my husband nuts because as an actor, you are supposed to be really fit. Apart from moving around every single day, I am always doing something.
Have any of your children taken after you?
We do have a child who has taken after us except that he is not in front of the camera. He is a producer.
All of your years of being married, why have you retained your maiden name?
It was a decision my husband and I made for two reasons. Firstly, I grew up knowing some people who as celebrities were known by a particular name and then the name changed. Subsequently, the marriage did not work and they went back to their maiden name. I did not want that to happen to me, so if I am Joke Silva, I am Joke Silva. If the marriage works, I am still Joke Silva, and if it does not work, I am still Joke Silva.
Did you fear that your marriage would not work?
I was quite young when I got married but it also seemed as if these celebrity marriages were not marriages that worked all the time. Also, all my husband’s professional life before we got married was in England and over there, nobody changed their names when they got married. Sometimes you would not even know that this person was married to that person because they retained their identity. Most times it is a brand. My brand was being built and was doing well around the time that we got married, so why change it? That does not change the fact that I am still Olu Jacob’s wife. How do you like to dress?
My style is elegant and easy. I don’t like to have too much going on. Probably because I don’t have the figure for it, I do not wear things that expose my body. I don’t believe in wearing clothes that are too tight.

Did you know that bipolar disorder, a mental health condition where one shifts between periods of mania and depression, can lead to an excessive desire for sex? Sitawa Wafula, in her article originally published on Love Matters Africa, a portal providing easy-to-access information and news on sexuality and sexual health for young adults around the world. narrates how she managed to control the desires. Read her touching story:
Sex and mental health made me who I am: I am Sitawa Wafula and I live with both epilepsy and bipolar.
At 18, I was raped but was never treated for the trauma I went through. That is where the bipolar disorder came from, a mental health condition where one shifts between periods of mania and depression.
I was told that during mania, I would experience days without sleep, moments of talking too fast and that I could be a spendthrift.
No one told me that this illness would come with an excessive desire for sex.
Every time it happened, I beat myself up. I thought that if I was a man, that would be acceptable, but a woman with an excessive desire for sex?
There was just no place in the world for a woman like that! I questioned myself a lot and asked myself why I had desires that saw no moral barriers.
Desires that ran against the notion that men were the only ones allowed to have lots of sex, desires that slandered girls and labeled them whores.
There was no way to ignore the desires. They demanded fulfillment and often fulfillment from more than one person.
These desires saw men like shoes. I was not satisfied with just one pair. I wanted them all- the stilettoes, the wedges, the flats, the boots. Each shoe has its purpose. There wasn’t just THE SHOE.
Trying to fulfill my desires, I have had lots shoes and I was never attached to any of them. I never saw anything wrong with wearing up to three pairs of shoes in a day, sometimes with no socks.
I never saw it as cheating on the other pairs. Whenever I stabilized from my mania, I would feel devastated.
For the longest time, I thought to myself that to change I would need to choose my battles wisely. Otherwise, I would just be a Christian African woman who had an excessive desire for sex and no way to be normal.
Over the years, as I have understood my illness better, I learnt that my hyper-sexuality was only one symptom of a larger illness. I have also learnt that I am not my illness.
So, I decided to embrace myself as a Christian African woman with an excess desire for sex due to my bipolar diagnosis.
I also made a bold step to master owning just one all-season pair of shoes. This pair understands my depression, my mania, and my in-between state.
It has been two years since I have had this pair of shoes. Coupled with understanding my illness and striving every day not to fall into depression or to be overtaken my mania, it has really helped reduce my hypersexual activities and exposure to the risks it comes with.
Sometimes, maybe one pair of shoes is all you need to help keep you stable and comfortable.

Well known Christian movie actors, Mike and Gloria Bamiloye, who have over the years produced and directed Christian movies to propagate the Gospel of Christ, are celebrating their 28th wedding anniversary today October 8th.
On minister’s Facebook wall, Mike Bamiloye narrated how they got married and lived their lives literally trusting God… He celebrates his wife and children who he says all lived and their lives in faith…
Below:
“A marriage born out of raw faith in the Lord alone. We were two years into full time drama ministry when we married on this day 28 years ago. I had spent all the money I had on ministry matters and I had no more money.
TODAY I REMEMBER THAT IT WAS JUST MAY, THIS YEAR, WE GOT OUR MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE FROM A REGISTRY IN IBADAN.
So we married without a Government marriage Certificate. WHY?
We both went to Ilesha registry to file for the Marriage Certificate when it was two months to our wedding, but we did not have the money to pay for the Registration. We were to pay about N120 or so, but we did not have the money. So we told the registry we would come back and we never went back, because we did not have the money. therefore, it was the Church Certificate only we had until May this year, when it was demanded at an embassy for Visa.
Then, I searched the house and came up the Church Marriage Certificate, and I then remember that the Visa Officer would not accept that. So, I went to a Registry in Ibadan and secure OUR GOVERNMENT MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE after 28 years.
The Marriage was born out of deep faith.
I remember it was my Best Man who bought my Wedding Suit and shirt. May God bless him wherever he is now. It was my Sister-in-Law who bought the shoes i wore on my wedding day. It was a ministry member who gave us money to sew the Wedding Gown, because we had already gone to a place where we could rent the Wedding Gown. It was the money my Sister-in-Law sent to us I used to deposit for the seats in our living room. May the Lord bless Sister Taye, my sister-in-law.
It was my Mama-Sister, (my elder sister) who got the 3-Room-Flat we married into. she paid the first year rent. May the Lord ever blessed MUMMY Felicia Adesiyan. It was my another elder sister who got the Boys Bridgade that played for us as we were driving into the Reception place at Ilesha Grammar School, in a car that belonged to one of my Cousins.
I remember all the monetary gift given to us on the Wedding Day were used to pay some outstanding debts incurred on ministry printings we made before the wedding and some debts on the wedding programs. So three days after the Wedding, we had no money again and the idea of Honey-Moon never even crossed our mind, because there was no money to attempt such luxury.
I REMEMBER, that the following Saturday, our ministry had a drama ministration in Ilesha, at the Advertisers for Jesus Christ, Ishokun, Ilesha. That was a week after our Wedding Day. AND GLORIA OLUSOLA AND I HAD TO STAND BESIDE THE ROAD LOOKING FOR A LIFT THAT COULD CARRY US TO ILESHA.
There was absolutely no money on us, a week after our wedding, to go to our next drama ministration. So, I had to walk to my Elder Sister’s house, to ask her for money to travel. She gave us enough money. God bless Mummy Adesiyan. We travelled to Ilesha and met the brethren waiting for us at the venue of Ministration of our first outreach after wedding. That was then…..28 Years Ago.
OUR MARRIAGE WAS BORN OUT OF DEEP-ROOTED FAITH….
But today….the Lord has been Faithful.
Today…the Lord has been wonderful to us.
The Marriage has been fruitful and Productive.
BUT THE JOURNEY OF FAITH HAS NOT STOPPED SINCE THEN.
THE MARRIAGE THAT WAS BORN OUT OF FAITH…HAS CONTINUED TO GROW BY FAITH….
WE HAD ALL OUR CHILDREN IN FAITH….
THEY GREW UP AND WENT TO SCHOOLS IN FAITH….
THEY GRADUATED FROM UNIVERSITIES IN FAITH…..
AND THEY ARE ON FULL TIME TOGETHER WITH US IN FAITH…..
ALL THE GLORY BELONG TO JESUS THE CHRIST, THE SON OF GOD, OUR REDEEMER.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO US AND CELEBRATE… GLORIA BAMILOYE, A WOMAN WHO
MARRIED A MAN WHO HAD NOTHING BUT FAITH….RAW FAITH….
HEBREWS 11:6
“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
– MIKE BAMILOYE
Once again, Ghana’s king of controversial marriage advice, Rev George Lutterodt has declared that men of God who do not engage in satisfying sexual relations with their wives ma end up in hell.
In an interview on 3FM on Friday morning, the counselor speaking on the topic of rape and assault made some remarks about the importance of sexual satisfaction marriages. He said, “There are a lot of men of God in this country and beyond that will likely find themselves in hell because they are not having proper sexual intercourse with their wives.”
He explained that the act of climaxing in lovemaking in equal to worshipping God in the highest form, adding that if sexual intercourse does not reach that apparent high point, then the other person is being punished. He said that some Men of God were praying for the grace of erecting and were, in fact, punishing their wives.
“The Bible says if you don’t live with them with understanding, your prayers will be hindered and I am telling you that some men of God are not anointed because they have not done well with their wives,” he added.
The story of a young woman who was rejected during labour in Akwa Ibom State has again brought to the fore the high maternal and infant deaths in the country. Rebecca Ejiforma chronicles her experience and how she and her newborn were saved by a good Samaritan.
Kendra Effionk-Donald is one of the few lucky women who has experienced the pain of hospital negligence and still come out alive with her baby hale and hearty. Share luck and determination to stay alive were the only reasons she could live to tell her story.
The 20 years old indigene of Itu in Akwa Ibom State had attended ante-natal at the health centre in Ikot Idaha without issues for months until about 8am on April 28th,the day she was billed to deliver. “Ante-natal was very easy for me; I had no issues at the health centre prior to when labour started. My problem began when I started having discharge. I called my mum and told her, because I was still living with my parents while my husband was working in Lagos,” Kendra said, while narrating her gory experience with THISDAY.
On hearing it was about time for Kendra to deliver, her mother, Mrs. Fabian-Bassey, rushed her to the midwife close to their home, who specialises in delivering babies. “It was a Saturday and the health centre doesn’t open except week days, that was why my mother took me there,” she said.
There, the midwife confirmed it was almost time, hence she instructed Kendra to do some exercise. “After which she prepared me for delivery. That was when she discovered my baby was coming out with legs, instead of head. My mum and everyone became concerned. And the midwife ordered that I be taken to the hospital, since the situation was beyond her expertise,” Kendra explained.
Unfortunately, several actions and inactions of the nurses of the private hospital, Abasi Ekene Health Centre – left the entire family devastated. “Together with the midwife, my parents and my aunt followed me to the hospital. I was in pain because the baby was really torturing me. But the nurses were acting slowly. They said my parents must register me first, buy blood and hand gloves before they could attend to me.”
Speaking with THISDAY at her residence in FESTAC, Kendra said that as traumatising and excruciating as it was under labour, the nurses said they would not touch her if her parents didn’t pay for the listed items. “So, my father paid N500 for card, N500 for the gloves and N1000 for blood.”
Sadly, Kendra’s parents were amazed at the attitude of the nurses, who refused to look at the state of their young pregnant daughter. ‘Why are you taking so long to spell her name?’ her father questioned angrily. “They couldn’t spell my name. When my father insisted on spelling it, they declined. So, he screamed again if they wanted me to die. They still didn’t mind him.
“At this time, they wrapped up the registration, then rushed me to the theatre. The nurse checked me and confirmed that my baby was coming with legs. That was when she told us the doctor was not on seat.”
Kendra said the doctor-in-charge, who was the founder of Abasi Ekene Health Centre, also works for a public health facility in Ikot. “The nurse explained the doctor’s whereabouts and quickly called him on phone. He then instructed her to check if I could have normal delivery. She did but told him my baby was coming with legs. So, the doctor said he was sorry but he was attending a meeting in the public facility.”
Because there were only nurses present in the hospital, Kendra said the doctor instructed the nurse to transfer her to the teaching hospital, where doctors were present. “She took me out of the theatre and told my family to take me to the teaching hospital.
“My mum couldn’t hold back her tears anymore. While I was crying and perspiring heavily, she was crying too. But I told them I would not go to any other hospital but to my church because my pastor takes care of pregnant women too.”
It was all getting too much for the 20 years old first-time mother, who got married to Mr. Effionk-Donald from same state last February. Hence, she told her father to take her to church as she couldn’t cope anymore with the pain. “My dad refused. Quickly, they pet me into his car and we drove off. Immediately we left the health centre, I felt something coming out strongly from me. I screamed and told my mum that my intestine was coming out. That made my dad stop driving and parked on the road. It was 6p.m. already. And I was weak and in great pain.”
Narrating further, Kendra said her mum jumped down from the car and began to scream for help. “Passers-by and residents of the streets rushed to our aid; even the nurses from the hospital dashed out but stood afar to watch. That was when a good Samaritan, who happened to also be a nurse, was passing by. My mum called out for her and pleaded she save my life and that of the baby.”
Kendra, who wondered why some nurses no longer follow the hippocratic oath they took, explained that when the good Samaritan tried to come to her aid, the nurses from Abasi Ekene Health Centre rushed to her warning that their doctor had already referred her (Kendra) to the teaching hospital.
At this time, Kendra was sapped of strength. She explained that the “good nurse, Esther didn’t heed to her colleagues. Rather she got angry and rushed to help me,” she noted.
Fortune smiled on Kendra and her family as nurse Esther made successful efforts at delivering the baby. “She asked for a bowl of water, clothes and others things. She then urged me to push. Within few seconds, my baby’s legs came out but stopped around the chest region.”
Kendra said at this point, she lost strength and couldn’t push any further. “I lost strength, but I could still hear everyone around me talking. “Consequently, the nurse began to search for my baby’s hands. She had to pull the baby out because she was already crying inside me. My mum was panicking. That was when I became worried. The nurse asked my mum to give her a blade but she refused. She didn’t want anyone to tear my body.”
Sadly, after some minutes, Kendra’s baby girl stopped crying from the inside. Hence, it became necessary to pull her out forcefully to save her life and that of the baby. “My baby girl was brought out still. She neither moved nor cried. I started crying really bad. My mum’s tears knew no bounds. The nurse screamed and ordered everyone to pray. She said her covenant with God was that no baby will die in her hands in this profession.
“Minutes have passed and the baby was not waking up. The nurse beat my baby on the back very hard. But nothing. She poured the baby a bowl of water and beat her, yet nothing. I was crying and begging God to help me. More passers-by came to us. The nurse asked for a pumper, which a woman swiftly brought one from God knows where. She inserted it into the baby’s nostril and pumped. When the baby was not responding, she gave her cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). And we all watched for some seconds. And there, the baby sneezed. Everyone screamed so loud.
There was shouting and jumping. And my baby began to cry. The nurse said it was after over 20 minutes that my baby sneezed.”
Now living in Lagos with her husband, Kendra expressed boundless gratitude to the people of Ikot and passers-by for their love and humanity towards her. “That nurse was just a good Samaritan. I still don’t know how to thank her. But when I visit my home in December, I shall show my appreciation to her. And God bless all the people who helped me: my mum, dad, aunt, the midwife and people of Ikot,” Kendra explained.
Indeed, not every woman has been as fortunate as Kendra in such rare situation. At least about 145 women die daily in Nigeria due to childbearing. The total rate of maternal and newborn mortality is a contribution of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Upon graduation from medical and nursing school, hippocratic oats are sworn and they are expected to be followed to the letter for the purpose of saving lives. The oat nurses swore to reads: “I solemnly pledge myself before God and in the presence of this assembly, to pass my life in purity and to practice my profession faithfully.
I will abstain from whatever is deleterious and mischievous, and will not take or knowingly administer any harmful drug. I will do all in my power to maintain and elevate the standard of my profession, and will hold in confidence all personal matters committed to my keeping and all family affairs coming to my knowledge in the practice of my calling. With loyalty will I endeavour to aid the physician in his work, and devote myself to the welfare of those committed to my care.”
Indeed, these powerful words mean a lot and can do great wonders for humanity if followed effectively. While several professionals and associations have accused attitudes of health workers as one of the reasons, others have claimed prayer houses and religious beliefs have contributed to the high maternal mortality the country presently has.
Today, however, there is urgent need to remind nurses, doctors and other health of their ath and consequences of breaking it. And if the state government looked into the issue of its maternal mortality now, it could save the lives of more women both in Akwa Ibom and Nigeria in general.
Just recently, the former Director General, Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR), Professor Innocent Ujah, told THISDAY that Akwa Ibom and Cross River states have very high maternal mortality rate in the country, fingering roles played by religious houses, attitude of health workers as major causal factors for the high mortality rate.
He noted that childbearing was supposed to be a thing of joy and no woman should die when bringing forth a life.
While the country, collectively, is trying to reduce this appalling figure of women being buried, there is need for proper monitoring of doctors and other health workers in achieving the target.
President Muhammadu Buhari was a reluctant student in his early years, John Paden, his authorised biographer, has revealed.
According to Paden, a professor of international studies, in his book, ‘Muhammadu Buhari: The Challenges of Leadership in Nigeria’, Buhari often skipped school, which earned beatings by the schoolmaster.
He wrote that Buhari decided to take his studies seriously with the encouragement of Waziri al-Hassan and Mamman Daura.
“In part because of love for the outdoors, Buhari was a reluctant student in his early years. He would often skip school altogether, although this always resulted in beatings with a cane by the schoolmaster. Only with the encouragement of Waziri al-Hasan and Mamman Daura did he eventually settle down and take his studies seriously,” Paden wrote in chapter one under the subtitle: ‘Schooling and Leadership Values.’
However, he narrated how Buhari eventually became good at his studies and sports – and emerged the head boy of his secondary school.
“The early years of schooling were conducted in Hausa; thereafter, English was used. Buhari began to do very well in English, mathematics, and Arabic, as well general studies. Buhari also became involved in cross-country running, in which persistence and endurance were key,” Paden wrote.
“Buhari would spend nine years at boarding school, and fortunately he had good teachers.”
The president’s biographer also wrote that he exuded leadership qualities at a young age.
“The loss of his father at an early age was compensated for by British teachers who treated each student as if he was their own child. Buhari has often said that in the early days of his schooling, the British sent their best teachers out to northern Nigeria, not their worst. An American Peace Corps teacher in the school also impressed Buhari and the other boys with his love for biology,” he wrote.
“Most important, the simple student dress code meant that students looked much the same, except for an occasional student with a wristwatch. The British teachers made a point of disregarding the status of the fathers of the boys. Every boy had to make it on his own.
“The point became clearer when he was eighteen years old and entered a merit-based competiton, sponsored by the Elder Dempster shipping line, for selected secondary students to spend a summer holiday in Britain. At that time, many of the northern elite were sending their sons to the prestigious Barewa College, and it was not clear that Buhari had a chance against such competition.
“Buhari had been class monitor in second form. He was house prefect in fifth form. In sixth form, he was house captain and head boy of the school. His performance in his studies was excellent. But his leadership potential was outstanding. He was chosen for the summer scholarship to visit Britain.”
Ace comedian, AY, in a recent chat with Saturday Beats has admitted that he had heard that so many people believe that he is into ‘juju’.
This comes after the comedian’s huge breakthrough with his movie, 30 Days In Atlanta which broke a Guinness World record earlier this year – his massive achievement has caused some to wonder how he came about it, as some suggest he’s into “Juju”.
Reacting to the claims the comedian says,
“I am just a product of God’s grace. When I shot ‘30 days in Atlanta,’ I just set out to go there and have fun but a lot of people are attributing it to something else. They are saying
maybe I did juju. I’ve heard all sorts and I’m beginning to suspect myself in the sense that anything I do always comes out well. My stand-up comedy show is one of the biggest in the country. Same with my TV show. I’m just a product of grace.
That is what I tell people. Not because I am the best, not because I know how to do it better. I just have this shining light and I keep praying that the grace remains. For now, let me enjoy my grace.”
He added that it was his wife’s idea to begin shooting movies since he studied Directing in the university. The comedian said that while growing up, he always went to the library to read the Guinness Book of World Records but he never dreamt that his name would be in one of its editions.
“Before the Guinness World Record came, we were done with ‘A Trip to Jamaica.’ Let me take you back to ‘30 days in Atlanta.’ This was me just setting out to go and have fun. I’m known as a stand-up comedian with my programme, AY Live. One day, I had a discussion with my wife about diversification and doing something different. Since I do a lot of skits that made my YouTube channel the most viewed in the country for three years consecutively, she suggested I put them together to make a full movie. That was what gave birth to ‘30 Days in Atlanta.’
And because I was new in the business, the idea was just to put some budget together and go and shoot a film. I didn’t know it was going to make a difference. And right now, I am basking in that euphoria. I enjoy and appreciate the fact that ‘30 Days in Atlanta’ made it to the Guinness Book of Records. I feel very happy.
I didn’t see it coming, not even for a second. I mean, I always tell people, I used to go to the library back in the days to just grab that book and read. I had this impression that the people they featured probably had four heads. I never knew a day would come when I would see myself in the book. Maybe, somebody is reading it now and thinks AY has four heads too,” he said.
In light of the maiden edition of the IbomFest Heritage Festival which is set to hold for December 15 through 17 in Uyo, Awka Ibom State capital, Nollywood Actress and Special Assistant to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State for Tourism and Development, Ini Edo, has assured that the state is ready to welcome visitors from across the world.

Lovely Nollywood actress, Crystabel Goddy who was earlier in this year involved in a bite attack scandal with fellow actress, Princess Chineke, has just revealed that she insured her legs.
In a new interview with Punch, the actress revealed her legs are insured for an undisclosed amount. She told Saturday Beats:
Why do you like wearing short dresses?
Why not, after all, it is said that if you have it, you flaunt it. I have lovely and beautiful legs, so I flaunt them. I wear short dresses to show off my gorgeous insured legs and it is worth it. Besides, everyone has something peculiar to them. Short dresses complement my full and long curly black hair. Besides, our country, Nigeria, is hot, so why bother with too many clothes?
There’s a place and time fit for how I appear. I don’t like to be defined by what I wear.
Are your legs really insured?
Do you really want to know?
Yes.
Actually, it was a thoughtful acquaintance of mine who thought they were too gorgeous not to be insured, so I went ahead to do so.

A trader, Margaret Agwu has told an Igando Customary Court, Lagos, that her husband, Onu, deceived her and her parents and paid just N600 as her bride price when she was still 12 years old.
She also said that sometimes he strips her naked and beats her to pulp. Margret, who made this known when she testified in a divorce proceedings against Onu, told the court that her husband had turned her into a punching bag.
“He once punched me in my stomach and I lost my first pregnancy after a fight. I have lived every minute of my life in fear but I cannot go back to my parents because of the bride price,” she said.
Margaret, 45, had urged the court to annul her 33-year-old marriage citing husband’s duplicity.
“When I was 12 years old, my husband came to my village to ask for my hand in “He also lied to my parents that he is a businessman that he owned a provision store and that he lived in a flat.
“My parents told him that they cannot release me for marriage because I was too young and besides I was still schooling.
“Onu told my parents that he will send me to school after the marriage, my parent agreed and he paid the bride price,” she said.
Margaret regretted that on getting to the city, she discovered that her husband was not what he made her and her parents believe he was.
“When I got to his house, I discovered that he was staying in one-room apartment, selling popcorn at the roadside. “He also refused to fulfill his promise of sending me to school,” she said.
The petitioner said that she would not have reminded herself of the husband’s deceit but because he had turned out to be a brute, who beats her at the slightest provocation.
Margret also accused her husband of absconding with all their five children 16 years ago.
“When I called him after he packed out, he just told me that he was no longer interested in the marriage and since then he refused to pick my calls.
“His relations told me he relocated with the children to Port-Harcourt. It is 16 years now that I have not seen nor heard from them.
“I heard that my husband gave our first daughter’s hand in marriage without my knowledge and that she had given birth to a son,” she said.
Margaret urged the court to help her to return the N600 bride price paid by her husband and dissolve the marriage, saying “I am no longer in love and I want to move on with my life.”
When an official of the court called Onu on telephone, he said that the petitioner was no longer his wife.
In his judgment, the President of the court, Mr Adegboyega Omilola, said that it was obvious that the marriage had hit the rocks.
“Throughout the duration of this case, the respondent refused to honour court summons, therefore, the court has no other choice than to dissolve the union.
“The marriage between Margaret Agwu and Onu Agwu is hereby dissolved from today, both parties are no longer husband and wife.
“Both are free to go their separate ways without any hindrances and molestation,” he said.
