Emir of Kano’s daughter, Fulani Siddika Sanusi and Malam Abubakar Umar Kurfi will be getting married this Friday, December 23rd at the Emir’s Palace, Kano.
New photos from her Kamu traditional ceremony which held two days ago, December 18th, have emerged online.
About this moment captured above, the photographer Maigaskiya said:
During the discussion, the Princess turned towards the Queen and asked ‘ what’s your kamu event like?’. With a smile on the Queen’s face she replied ‘it was simple and we had fun. Everything was traditional; the music, attire, decoration and all. It’s was memorable’. Hence, it was agreed that everything should be done in accordance with old traditions. Everyone who witnessed the Kamu last night would agreed it was pure traditional kamu in style?

It was all over Nigerian web, this penultimate week when former footballer and younger brother to Nigerian football icon, Kanu Nwankwo, Ogbonna Kanu, asked Linda Ikeji’s younger sister, Laura Ikeji to marry him.
We couldn’t get enough from the screaming and shouting when he went down on a knee to “give her the ring” and of course, we can’t forget the critics who felt the whole thing was forced or presumably “staged”.
The new groom doesn’t look like he’s bothered about any of that as he took to his IG page to share the lovely photo you see above with the caption:
Days ago, Gwamnishu Harrison, wrote about the plight of some inmates of a prison in Delta State and it caught the attention of the appropriate authorities, who stepped in.

South Africa’s Minister of Health, Aaron Motsoaledi, has said ‘doggy’ style during sex is the major cause of cancer and stroke.
He said after three years of arduous research, he found out that the high pumping of blood during sex, when one is standing or kneeling overloads the veins in the legs which ultimately causes stroke.
He told The Insider, “On cancer – one of the main causes of cancer is stress, fatigue and tiredness.
“The most energy consuming and stressful sexual position for men is doggy; hence the connection is more than clear.
“Look, I am only giving you guys a snippet, but we will be posting the results of the full research on the Ministry website.”
He added that he is in talks with Home Affairs Minister, Malusi Gigaba to craft a legislation that will seek to outlaw this style.
According to him, occasional doggy style like only on Christmas day and Valentine is harmless but be sure that each night is suicidal.
“This is the reason why South African married men die and leave their wives a lot these days,” the 58-year-old man added.

Russia’s ambassador to Turkey, Andrei Karlov was shot dead in front of a crowd at a posh art gallery in the capital Ankara as the angry gunman who was a policeman screamed “Allahu Akbar, don’t forget Aleppo”.
The assassination was apparently in protest at Russia’s involvement in Aleppo.
The killer has been identified as Mevlut Mert Aydintas, 22, a member of the Ankara riot police. It was not clear if he had links to any group.
The incident happened a day after protests in Turkey over Russian support for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Police later killed the assailant on Monday night, Turkish station NTV reported.
The Gunman
Andrey Karlov, 62, was several minutes into a speech at an embassy-sponsored photo exhibition when a man who stood directly behind him in a dark suit shot the diplomat in the back from close range multiple times.
The assailant was a 22-year-old off-duty police officer who worked in Turkey’s capital, said Ankara’s Mayor Melih Gokcek.
After the initial shot, the attacker approached Karlov as he lay on the ground and shot him at least one more time at close range, according to an AP photographer at the scene.
Turkey’s president said the attack was aimed at hurting ties with Russia.

The Minister of State for Aviation, Sen Hadi Sirika, has confirmed that the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja, will be closed for six weeks in February and March 2017.
Sirika told newsmen in Abuja on Monday that the closure was to allow Julius Berger carry out total re-construction on the badly damaged airport runway.
He said that while the runway would still be put to use under the six months of rehabilitation, the six weeks would allow the mid section of the runway to be reconstructed.
According to him, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reconstruction through the emergency procurement procedure for work to commence.
This, according to him, is because of the centrality, economy and the importance of Abuja to the general administration of the country.
He said government could not afford to close down Abuja airport for a long time as palliative repairs had been ongoing at the runway in the last three months. “From start to finish of the runway, it will take six months.
However, we will be using the runway almost throughout the period except for about six weeks when the runway will be closed.
“That is when we are going to do the mid-section of the runway. “The government has accepted the design done by the contractor. The runway will last for than 10 years on completion early next year’’, he said.
Sirika said Abuja bound passengers from any part of the world will use Kaduna airport as alternative during the six weeks closure to passengers.
He said arrangement had been finalised with Kaduna State, adding that while the federal government will provide buses to convey the passengers to Abuja, the state government will provide security.
According to him, it will cost government substantial amount of money “but we think that palliative approach is wrong because three years down we will come back to do the same repairs.
“Therefore, we decided to go for the bigger option which is to do structural repairs if the runway which will take about six months to complete’’, he said.
On the Bilateral Air Agreement with other countries, Sirika said government had signed BASA with 18 countries that Nigerians frequently visites and do business with. The MOUs, he said, would give Nigeria the opportunity to operate air services with 18 countries.
“With this, we have the freedom to fly and land safely in other air space and this will assist in opening our market.’’

A source described the incident as double tragedy, pleading that the toddler be released.

The Ooni of ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi has been commended for displaying fatherly concern on Saturday when he suddenly ordered his convoy to stop and look for one of the journalists that followed him to an event after he was said to be missing.
The Ooni and his entourage were all returning from the final of the Ooni invitational tennis tourney held at the Civil Service Club in Osogbo when the monarch was told that a photographer, who was part of his entourage to the game, Kunle Bowade, was left behind.
It was gathered that the Ooni insisted that the journalist must be found before the vehicles could leave the spot where they were parked.
Despite pleas from his entourage to proceed with the trip, saying the missing journalist would join them later at Ile-ife, the monarch refused and sent some people to go after the missing journalist.
He insisted that, they came together and they must go back to Ife together adding that, there was no way he could leave anybody behind.
The stoppage of the convoy was said to have caused a traffic snarl on the ever-busy road and the vehicles in the convoy were not allowed to move until the journalist was fetched and brought to join the monarch and his entourage.
Some of those, who were said to be in the convoy were a former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun and other dignitaries.
The Director of Public Affairs, Ooni’s Palace, Moses Olafare, confirmed the incident. He said that was not the first time the monarch would insist that everybody who left the palace with his team must return as a unit.
Olafare said,
“That is Kabiyesi’s style. He cares about everybody regardless of their status. He treats both the highly and lowly placed people equally. He loves and accepts everyone.”
First lady of Rivers state, Barr. Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike took to her Facebook page to share how she met her governor husband when they were both law students of Rivers State University of Science and Technology in Port Harcourt.
She also dished out some marriage cum relationship advice. Read below:
“It’s funny how life sometimes takes us where we never plan or expect to go. For three years, we sat in the same lecture rooms and halls but never passed a word between each other. It was only after I chanced upon his law note books in the possession of a mutual classmate that everything changed.
At that time, the law books in our library were expired and in most cases not available and we had to find other means to report our Nigerian case law. Most of us resorted to copying from others who had lawyer friends they visited in chambers and while there, used their law reports/books.
Thankfully, the situation is different today as not only has our Governor completed the long, abandoned building of the Facaulty of Law, Rivers State University of Science and Technology, but he has also furnished it and equipped the law library with modern books, law reports and even e-resources. The current students there are lucky to benefit from this upgrade as theirs is now a standard Facaulty of Law.
It surprised me then, to realize that he was indeed a serious minded student and not as I had earlier perceived. His notes were up to date as he took time to report more cases than were cited by our lecturers, which neccesarily meant better grades if you can put them all down in your answer sheets during tests and examinations.
I immediately coveted that notebook and pleaded with my classmate to loan me the book after she had finished, promising to return it in two days. She refused. Another request with the promise to return it in one day as I was prepared to sit up all night copying those cases, was declined . My last plea to photocopy the notebook and return it immediately fell on deaf ears. She told me to seek the permission of the owner, with the belief that I wouldnt dare
And of course, she was right to think that as she knew that we had never once spoken to each other. At that point, I inquired from her, his name. She replied simply: “Wike”. I wondered how odd that name sounded as I’d never heard it before. I also wondered how to approach him as I believed that he disliked me as much as I did him.
But the desire to have that fully loaded note book was too strong. I could not give up without at least, making an attempt. As he passed by us, I called his name as I had just learnt: “excuse me, Wike”. He froze and I noticed his shock and disbelief. I started putting my words together, expecting him to scowl at me, thinking in his head – “Oh! So you have decided to talk to me now that you need my notebook eh?’
He didn’t let me complete my request. He caught the drifrt so fast and he spoke to our mutual classmate, telling her to give me his note book after she had finished with it and he walked off. It was now my turn to be in shock! After I recovered, I started putting the heat on our classmate to give me the book asap.
One borrowed book led to another and yet another borrwed book and soon after, we became friends. I got to see the hardworking, focused, studios and serious minded person he was and still is. Before Iong, there was a marriage proposal. I declined as I didn’t see myself as the marrying kind but he wouldn’t give up.
He said to me that the moment he first set his eyes on me when he joined us in our second year out of the more than five years I was in that institution, he knew already that I was going to be his wife. ? That got me even more confused. Having noted all the qualities I had noticed in him, I knew that he was a man with very great prospects or potentials for success, as I’d told him then.
I therefore decided to accept his proposal and took a chance, believing that he would make me a happy woman. Today, the 19th of December, marks the 17th year we have been together as a married couple. He is a man that has exhibited excellent taste …. no wonder he chose and continues to choose me . ?
You promised to give me the world at that time but you have given me much more than I could have ever asked for. Our three adorable children are a testimony to that fact and I can’t tell you enough, how fulfilled I feel.
Please permit me to use this medium to share some of the life lessons I have learnt in these past 17 years of marriage, especially in reaching out to encourage our youths who have skewed perceptions about marriage.
You have to make the right decision about your marriage. I made a decision to become a happy wife 17 years ago, by contributing to build a happy marriage. I learnt that marriage in itself doesn’t make you happy. You have to make your marriage a happy one. Marriage is not what you get. Marriage is what you bring, what you give and what you do.
There is no perfect marriage or perfect couples. Rather, when two imperfect friends honour and celebrate each other, they are empowered to build up a great blossoming marriage with flourishing children.
Marriage, it has been said, is likened to an empty box that couples should labour to fill up with all the good things they want in their marriage – friendship, understanding, respect, love, etc. Love does not come packaged with any marriage. Love is in people and people put love in marriage. People infuse romance in marriage. Same thing with all the other values.
A couple must practice the art and form the habit of giving, loving, serving, forgiving, rewarding, praising, and just keeping the marriage box full always. If you take more and put less, the box empties out.
Let us challenge ourselves to work harder at achieving happier marriages. It will lead to more harmonious homes and communities and eventually a more prosperous and peaceful Rivers State. That is how powerful and endowed married couples are.
I recall, after we became engaged, attending a conference at Christ Church in December, 1996 where Selwyn Hughes, the initiator of the daily devotional called “every day with Jesus” featured and spoke to the young ones (at that time ?) about marriage. I bought his book then titled: Marriage as God intended.
Rev. Mossy Madugba authographed the book on his behalf and on my request as it wasn’t possible for me to meet the author after the occasion. He wrote these words on the first page – “Blossom where you are planted”. Indeed, I can say without any fear of any contradiction, that by the grace of God, I have blossomed and will keep blossoming where the Lord, God has planted me.
Today, on this occasion of our 17th marriage anniversary, I celebrate my hardworking classmate, friend, lover and husband… Nyesom Ezenwo Nyesom Wike CON. We have been through thick, thin and thinner but just like old wine, it keeps getting better with time.
Happy 17th Marriage Anniversary to you, my love. May we forever stay young in each others eyes.”
