An unconfirmed number of civilians have been killed in a latest bomb blast at Muna garage in Maiduguri, Borno state capital earlier today, Wednesday.
Members of the civilian JTF said evacuation is currently ongoing.
According to a JTF member,
“The suspected Boko Haram members were three in number and died in the suicide attack. For quite sometime now, the terrorists have been making frantic effort to attack Maiduguri, but we were always stopping them.
“Just about five days ago another was killed who came through Jiddari polo side, coming from Alidawari village and now the attack today at Muna,” Kabiru Shuibu said.
According to him, Soldiers and Police bomb squad have been detailed to the site of the blast. However, a text have been sent to Major Ibrahim Mustapha of the 7 division Nigerian Army for confirmation but there was no reply as at this time of filing this report.
But hospital sources in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital told Daily Post that 18 people were killed in the attack while 26 others were injured.

Detectives of the Department of State Services (DSS), yesterday found a Rolls Royce in the fleet of about 15 cars of one of the seven judges under investigation.
The judge was said to have hired a notable construction firm to build his palatial home and imported furniture from Brazil, Argentina and Spain. The judge, said a source close to the investigation, once conducted his “poor colleagues” around his mansion.
Another judge told the DSS that he did not know how N18million was paid into his account and he did not get alert to enable him complain to his bankers.
One of the judges also said the money found in his account was his accumulated medical allowances. Another judge was found to have submitted three assets declaration forms to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).
The asset forms of the seven judges, who were arrested last weekend in a controversial sting operation, were being analyzed by the DSS yesterday.
The Federal Government has foreclosed the return of all the seven judges to the bench. The government believes the judges cannot be in the dock and be adjudicating at the same time.
Those arrested are: Justices Sylvester Ngwuta and Inyang Okoro – the suspended Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, Ilorin Division, Justice Mohammed Ladan Tsamiya, who was picked up in Sokoto; Justice Adeniyi Ademola (Federal High Court); the Chief Judge of Enugu State, Justice I. A. Umezulike; Justice Kabiru Auta of Kano State High Court; and Justice Muazu Pindiga (Gombe State High Court).
Of the seven Justices, Tsamiya, Umezulike and Auta have been recommended for sanctions by the National Judicial Council (NJC).
Detectives have uncovered more corrupt practices traced to some of the judges undergoing probe, the source said, pleading not to be named because he is not permitted to talk to the media.
The source said:
“Operatives have discovered that one of the judges owns a mansion which was contracted to a construction firm at a huge cost. In fact, the judge imported furniture from Brazil, Argentina and Spain.
“At a stage, he conducted his ‘poor colleagues’ round the mansion in an open display of affluence. The judge has about 15 cars, including a Rolls Royce. This Rolls Royce was imported.
”During interrogation, another judge told DSS team that he did not know how and when N18million was lodged in his account because he was not getting alert from his bank. But we have evidence of withdrawals from the account.”
Responding to a question, the source added:
“We have retrieved the assets declaration forms of these judges. It was shocking that one of them has three asset declaration forms with different dates of birth.”
He said instead, the government had asked the NJC to suspend them, pending the conclusion of their trial. Those who may not be allowed back to the bench are Justice Ngwuta, Justice Okoro, Justice Ademola and Justice Pindiga.
The source said the judges could be retired.
He said however that the judges will still go through trial to enable Nigerians know that “they were actually caught in the act”.
“The position of the government is that none of these judges will be allowed back to the bench in the interest of the nation’s Judiciary. They cannot be arraigned in the dock and at the same time be adjudicating or attending to cases.
“It is left to the NJC to allow the affected judges to keep off the bench until their fate is determined. But certainly, they will face trial and the outcome will determine whether or not they will be retired or dismissed.
“We are expecting the NJC to do the needful by suspending the judges.”
It was gathered that President Muhammadu Buhari and Chief Justice Mahmud Mohammed had actually met on the arrest of seven judges.
A source said:
“The CJN sought for audience and met with the President on Saturday on the arrest of the judges. I think they compared notes but no one can give you the details.
“I think the President must have briefed the CJN on the security reports at his disposal.”
One Nigerian man named Andrew, has cried out after he was dismissed from his job yesterday over claims that he is gay – Andrew who has been working for over two years as a cook in a Nigerian hotel based in Port Harcourt, said that the whole thing came as a shocking surprise to him when he was summoned to a panel by the hotel management who inquisitively pressed to know if he is a gay and suspended him over the issue.
Speaking to NoStrings, he said;
“I was called into the managers officers, were they started asking me about if I have a girlfriend and how come they have never seen her visit me at work, but yet I have been
seen to have romantic conversations on the phone, I was shocked and surprised that what they were asking me about my own private life, something that had nothing to do with work.
Andrew said that he became very irritated and couldn’t stomach the embarrassment and therefore unconsciously raised his voice in anger to defend himself, but this further provoked the management who said that they were suspending him for further investigations.
He said;
“They have given me three weeks suspension, and I am just ashamed and embarrassed. I can’t believe that an organization that I have been loyal to for two years, will do this to me. They have even reduced my salary, and things are very difficult for me right now.
So far the hotel has placed a notice outside its front, seeking for a cook, whether or not they are replacing Andrew, no one knows yet. But Andrew said that one of the managers has called him to come for further questioning. He said;
“One of my managers, who at the meeting promised to investigate the issue, called me on the phone and asked that I come to see her for talks. But since the event, I have been very ill, and could not go, I just hope that I get a new job because I can’t imagine how I would be treated if just in case my position is retained at that hotel. But right now, I do not know if i am still suspended or sacked” He said with tears.

Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo has stated that even the president Buhari’s friends and associates are not excluded from the anti-corruption war.
Speaking during a special interview session with journalists at the presidential villa on Tuesday, the Vice President is quoted as saying:

The Niger State Government said it would discontinue the payment of the West African Senior School Examination Certificate Examination and National Examination Council fees for its students in secondary schools in the state.
The state governor, Sani Bello, disclosed this on Tuesday when he visited the Justice Legbo Kutigi Secondary School to inspect the ongoing renovation of the school in Lavun Local Government Area of the state.
Bello said government could not continue to pay N800m every year for students only for just five per cent of them to pass the examinations.
He said government would rather invest such money in infrastructure development and provision of instructional materials for qualitative education.
“We must review the issue of the payment of NECO and WASSCE fees because at the moment, we owe the National Examination Council and the West African Examination Council about N800m.
“Government spends such huge amount of money on students that cannot even have four credits. Only about five per cent of students will have four credits and above.
“Basically, it is like we are throwing away money. We will rather stop and invest the money in the facilities so that with time we will get good results.
“We have made efforts to pay part of the money and the results will be released.
“The Commissioner for Finance has met with NECO and WAEC officials and there is an understanding that the debt issue will be addressed,” he said.
He said the payment of examination fees would henceforth be based on criteria where only best performing students would be selected as beneficiaries.
But parents and guardians in the state have appealed to Bello to reverse government’s decision to stop the payment of WASSCE and NECO fees.
They argued that it would not only be a serious burden on them but that it would also affect the educational standard and future of their wards.
A Punch correspondent, who went round Minna, learnt that as a result of this decision, some parents might not be able to pay for these fees again, and this could truncate their children’s educational ambition.
A social critic, who is also a parent, Suleiman Dangana, said there was no wisdom in stopping the payment of WASSCE fees in the state.
Dangana said, “It is a sad development because the decision is targeted at poor parents, who cannot afford to pay the school fees of their children and since they cannot afford it their wards would have to withdraw from school and this will paint the state government in a bad light.”
Another parent, Mohammed Paiko, who spoke to our correspondent, appealed to the state government to look at the economic background of the students and urgently reverse the decision so that they would be able to compete with their counterparts from other states.
Paiko said, “If the state government goes ahead to implement this very sad and unfortunate decision, apart from increasing the number of children that will drop out of school, the future of our children will be hanging.”

A sixty-year-old man, identified as Okporo Arigo, has reportedly committed suicide in a bush at Uwheru in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State because of “severe hunger”.
The late Arigo was said to have left a suicide note, which said he was abandoned by his brother while he had nothing to feed on.
A source, who spoke in confidence, told The Nation that the late Arigo left behind a sick wife and an unspecific number of children.
He said the late Arigo had a younger brother, who is a councillor, but had not been paid in the last 10 months by the state government.
The source added:
“I don’t think the man would have died if the state government had been paying the councillors their salaries. I believe the payment was part of what that led to the death of the councillor’s brother.”
Efforts to reach the councillor and the community leaders to confirm the incident were unsuccessful last night, The Nation reports.
But a community youth leader confirmed the incident, saying Arigo’s death was painful.

Twenty five SIM cards, two Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards, different bank tellers and a working mobile telephone were yesterday recovered from a supposedly mad woman, pictured above, at Oshodi bus stop, Lagos State, New Telegraph reports.
The woman, it was learnt, has been living at the spot in the last two years. The items were discovered when the officials of the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC), who wanted to use the place, tried to evacuate her.
An NRC official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to the publication, said the discovery of the SIM cards, ATM cards and bank tellers came to them as a surprise. He said:
“The woman has being living at the spot for some time now. Recently, a canteen was built close to the spot where she is sitting, but some people who patronise the canteen always complain about the presence of the woman. To our surprise, when we were about to evacuate her from the spot, about 25 SIM cards, two ATM cards, different bank tellers and a phone were recovered from her. We don’t want another incident similar to that of Clifford Orji where human parts were recovered.
We suspect the woman has someone she is working for. We are going to hand her over to the task force because we don’t want to take chances. The woman was behaving normally when we moved close to her, but suddenly she started putting up a strange behaviour and pretending to be a lunatic. We don’t see her to be what she is claiming.”
A trader, who identified herself simply as Rebecca, told New Telegraph that she did not believe the woman was a lunatic.
“She used to come to my shop to buy detergent to wash her clothes and to bathe. I was surprised when she started behaving strangely now.
Whenever she comes to buy from me, she always comes with crisp N500 notes. “There was a day I closed late, I saw someone who parked beside the road and was discussing with the woman. But I did not hear what they were saying.
Out of curiosity, I went to her the following day to ask her who the person was. She said those who come to visit her were her family members. Government should clear lunatics from Oshodi and its environs,” she said.
Another trader, who did not want her name in print, said the woman never begged for alms from passers-by. She said:
“We also want the police to beam their searchlight on that angle, because she was not soliciting alms from people. They should ask her where she is getting the money she is spending from, because we don’t want to lose our children in the market.”
Lagos State Police Command has uncovered a factory inside the Police College in Ikeja, where police uniforms and other accessories, are illegally produced and sold.
Police arrested four persons, all women, among them two nursing mothers. Several police uniforms with different ranks, badges, belts, boots cardigans, caps and force numbers were recovered from the suspects.
According to Vanguard, investigation was still on to ascertain whether the force numbers were authentic. The arrest came on the heels of petitions to the Inspector-General of Police, IG, Idris Ibrahim, following which he instituted a panel of inquiry headed by a retired IG.
Part of the panel’s recommendations include request that the Lagos State Police Command investigate the matter. Consequently, the X-Squad of the command, headed by Mr. Bode Fakeye, was directed by the state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, to clamp down on suspected perpetrators of the illegal act.
The suspects, during interrogation, admitted to the claim but refused to mention names of their buyers. Spokesperson for the command, Dolapo Badmus, who confirmed the arrest, said:
“The CP ordered the officer-in-charge of X-Squad to investigate, after the case was referred to us from the Police High Command, Abuja. When he finally investigated and found out that it was true, the CP ordered the arrest of the suspects and seizure of the materials.”
She added that the suspects would be arraigned in court today on a “two-count charge of conspiracy and unlawful possession and sales of police kits contrary to Section 328, Sub-sections A, B, C and D of Lagos State, 2011.”
