The seven year old girl in the picture above, is worshiped as a goddess in Patan in Nepal – she is only 7 years old who goes by the name, Yunika and she is a Kumari — one in a centuries-old tradition of living, breathing child goddesses.
It’s considered good luck to merely lay eyes on her.
According to her father, Ramesh Bajracharya:
“When my daughter was selected as a Kumari, I felt very happy. It’s because Kumari is hugely regarded and respected living goddess in Nepal.”
Yunika lives with her mother and father, who left their jobs to become her full-time caretakers.
She is not allowed to leave her residence except for holy festivals, and her feet are never supposed to touch the ground. Even inside her home, she is carried everywhere.
As for the meticulous customary makeup, her mother had to learn it through practice.
When asked about her daughter’s unusual childhood, her mother, Sabita Bajracharya, told ABC News said through a translator,
“I feel little sad that other children play outside, but her friends do come to play with her inside. Whatever she demands, dolls or any plaything, we fulfill her demands.”
The word “Kumari” means “unmarried girl” or “virgin.” She is worshipped by Hindus and Buddhists alike. To be chosen as a Kumari, a young girl, typically around 2 to 4 years old, must meet amazing specific standards.
First, her astrological chart must be considered favorable to the King of Nepal’s. Then, the girls are tested for 32 very specific physical attributes, including “eyelashes like a cow,” “thighs like a deer,” and a “voice as clear as a duck.” She is also put through a secret test for signs of fearlessness and serenity.
Once a girl is chosen, she is considered an incarnation of the Hindu goddess Durga. However, the Kumari are not Kumaris for life. Once they hit puberty, the young girls are forced to return to life as a mere mortal.
Rashmila Shakya served as a Kumari from age 4 to 12. Now 32 years old, she said,
“When I was a Kumari, [I was not] allowed to walk outside. So it was a little bit uncomfortable when, after I retired from the Kumari house, a little uncomfortable walking on the road.”
Some activists inside Nepal have criticized the Kumari tradition, calling it child labor. But in 2008, Nepal’s Supreme Court overruled a petition to end the practice, citing its cultural value.
In April 2015, Nepal was struck by a catastrophic 7.8 earthquake and 8,000 people were killed. Entire villages were destroyed and famous historical landmarks were flattened.
As a result, people in Nepal say that the Kumari became more important than ever and there has been an uptick in visitors seeking the luck of her blessings.
At the recent Hindu festival of rain, thousands came out to pay respects to 7-year-old Yunika, including one major VIP: the Prime Minister of Nepal.
Life as a Kumari can seem surreal and strange, but according to those who have lived it, this extraordinary childhood is a privilege.
Ex-Kumaris enjoy prestige their whole lives, as well as a lifelong pension from the Nepali government.

The Federal Road Safety Corp, FRSC, has concluded the retraining of over 2,000 drivers of a leading road transport Peace Mass Transit, PMT, at its Academy, Udi, Enugu State.
The one month exercise witnessed the issuance of re-certification certificates to the drivers ahead of the ember months.
FRSC also warned motorists, especially commercial drivers, that it will enforce the installation of Speed Limiters and quality tyres as a safety measure to reduce road crashes during the festive period.
In the same vein, FRSC Corp Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi, also at the FRSC Academy Udi,Enugu, apologized to the management of leading road transport company, Peace Management, PMT, over a misleading report credited to the Corp which inflated the number of casualties involved in PMT accidents last June.
While addressing over 2,000 drivers of PMT who passed out from the one month re-certification training exercise embarked upon by the management at FRSC Academy, Oyeyemi said,
“as we are entering the ember months where we usually experience increase in traffic, we will be ruthless in enforcements.
“This enforcement is specially on the area of Speed Limiters and quality tyres. We will impound any vehicle especially commercial ones found operating under these conditions.
Studies have shown that sixty-five percent of road crashes are caused by commercial vehicles. There will be zero tolerance on enforcement to reduce the rate of accidents on the nations roads.
“I want to seize this opportunity to apologize to the management of PMT on the misleading report which emanated from us,indicating that 44 passengers died in an auto crash involving PMT vehicles last June. The publication is highly regretted and I have queried the officers involved in the inflation of the figures.
“I equally ordered a rejoinder and as a responsible organisation, we accept our mistake where it has been proven”.
So I just stumbled on this and I thought I should share with you guys – this dude is complaining about his lady who wants to injure him with her sex drive, it’s rather unusual for guys to be complaining about intercourse though but hey… Men ain’t robots!
A man drunk in love has done the unthinkable as he knelt down in public to beg a girl for love. Perhaps he is begging her to take him back?
The shocking incident attracted a large crowd who could not believe an able-bodied man could descend so low for a woman who had no romantic feelings for him.
The man was however given the shock of his life when the girl rebuffed his love by hitting him quite a number of time to the chagrin of the crowd.
The disappointment on everyone’s face was stark and obvious. People around were left totally embarrassed by the act as the man continued to plead but the girl refused to accept his advances.
There are four scenarios to this story/video.
1. The guy is pleading for the girl to love him back?
2. The guy who is an ex might have probably done something to hurt her..now he is begging to take her back.
3. The guy has eaten efo riro (Love charm mixed with Vegetable stew).
4. The guy is insane.

Nigeria’s most controversial gay man, Idris Okuneye Olanrewaju (aka Bobrisky), has granted his very first interview as a bonafide celebrity! In a chat with Celeb Police, the self-acclaimed ‘male barbie doll’ and Snapchat celebrity, has addressed the gay rumours surrounding his cross-dressing lifestyle.
Is he really gay?
When Nigerians talk about the whole 14 years thing, I just sit down and be like why are some Nigerians so stupid, because the law does not say if u look and appear girly you would go to jail. The law said GAY MARRIAGE and I have never come out there and say I am getting married to a guy neither have I said I want to marry a guy.
Why he dresses like a woman
The bleaching expert has admitted that he only dresses like a woman to attract clients for his business.
“The fact that I look and act like a girl does not mean I am gay, I am only doing this to survive, because it is the best I can do” he said candidly. “I only think of how to get clients to patronize me.”
Any plans for marriage? Bobrisky, who recently set social media ‘ablaze’ when he shared snapshots of N7million allegedly given to him by his bae, revealed that he plans to get married to a woman.
He said: “In the next ten years, I want to have a family – my kids, my wife and I. I want to be a crowd puller and that name, Bobrisky to keep flowing for eternity.”
Few days ago, Bovi in an instagram post revealed that his dear colleague and friend, Basketmouth and his family were robbed by gunmen in his Lekki home. The robbers made away with valuables…
Apparently, basketmouth has already moved on from the incident and is making a joke about the it.
He shared the photo above saying; “Yes I was robbed, yes they made away with a lot of valuables…….the great thing is that they didn’t steal my sense of humour. Big thanks to everyone that reached out, may God bless you abundantly.”
Masturbating in public is not a crime, the Italian supreme court has ruled, even if it is done so with the clear aim of being seen by other members of the public.
Italy’s highest court, La Corte di Cassazione, was asked to rule on the case of a 69-year-old man who had been caught masturbating in the southern city of Catania.
Identified only as Pietro L, the man had been convicted after he was seen “taking out his penis” and “practising autoeroticism” in front of students at the University of Catania campus.
According to the local edition of La Repubblica, the local Prefect of Catania and the Court of Appeal had agreed that the man should be sentenced to three months in prison and fined €3,420. But supreme court judges said that a recent government reform meant “the act is not included in the law as a crime”.
In doing so, the court has eliminated the criminal aspects of sentencing for obscene acts in public places.
The case of Pietro L will now go back to the Prefect of Catania to be sentenced again. La Corte di Cassazione ruled the man must be given a fine between €5,000 and €30,000, with the exact figure to be determined by the local court.
In taking their decision, the supreme court judges noted the fact that the Italian parliament passed a law last year decriminalising the offence of lurking in places frequented by girls in order to be seen masturbating.
They said that on that basis, Pietro L’s sentence should be overturned without further deliberation.
A 60-year-old herbalist, Kareemu Okeyode and his client, Oladele Bakare, 51, died yesterday afternoon, allegedly “conducting rigorous rituals and incantations to conjure up money”.
The Nation reports that Okeyode entered his “sacred room” with Bakare in the morning after he had prepared many fetish objects, including an incense powder, for the ritual.
Neighbours were later concerned that no sound of prayer or incantation was coming from the “sacred room”.
When they knocked on the door in the afternoon, they did not receive any response. The development compelled them to force the door open. They were shocked to discover the bodies of Okeyode and Bakare. They alerted the police about the discovery.
Ogun police command spokesman Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident, saying that the two men were pulled out of the room naked.
Oyeyemi said the two men locked themselves up in the “sacred room” during the ritual and that “it was very likely that they died of suffocation in the room suffused with smoke of burning incense”.
Residents of Shodipo Crescent in the Ikeja Government Reserved Area of Lagos State were shocked on Wednesday to find an abandoned baby boy crawling on the road.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the nine-month-old baby, whose name had yet to be ascertained, was seen crawling by residents, who quickly alerted some policemen on patrol in the area.
Punch gathered that the child was picked up by the policemen and brought to the Lagos State Police Command headquarters, Ikeja.
The baby was thereafter taken for a checkup.
It was gathered that the nine-month-old was believed to have crawled out of his parents’ apartment, although no resident in the area had showed up for the baby boy.
A police source told PUNCH Metro that the child would remain in the police custody until his family showed up with concrete proofs of relationship.
She said,
“We found the boy on Shodipo Crescent in the Ikeja GRA. He is about nine months old. He was found crawling on the road. Some residents thereafter alerted some policemen on patrol.
“The police team rescued the baby. So far, nobody has come up to claim the baby. He must have left the custody of his parents or guardian and that is how some children fall into the hands of kidnappers and ritual killers. He is still with us at the command headquarters.”
In a related development, an Indian national was rescued from some gunmen on Wednesday by the police who wanted to abduct him in the Epe area of Lagos State.
Our correspondents gathered that the Indian national, whose name was not disclosed by the police “to protect him”, was working at a construction site near a waterway, when the abductors came in a speedboat and took him away.
A police source told one of the correspondents that there was an exchange of gunfire between some police operatives and the gunmen, who were forced to abandon the Indian on the water, while they fled.
He said, “The Indian was a contractor at a construction site in the Epe area. Some kidnappers had emerged from the waters and abducted the Indian at gunpoint. They were taking him away when some police operatives engaged them in a gun battle.
“Although none of the abductors was arrested, the police were able to rescue the Indian.”
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, confirmed the baby, and the Indian’s rescue, saying investigations were ongoing into the cases.
He said, “We appeal to members of the public to take a good care of their children and wards while trying to make ends meet. So far, nobody has come forward to claim the abandoned baby.
“Also, the rescued Indian has been debriefed by the police, and investigation is ongoing.”
A woman was left terrified after waking in the middle of the night to find a stranger licking her privates while her partner slept next to her.
Vile Joseph Taouk has been caged for two years after he broke into the home of the couple and began sexually assaulting the sleeping woman.
The 35-year-old beast crept into the couple’s bedroom in Sydney, Australia, and spotted his victim sleeping with one leg out of the duvet.
His victim then woke at around 3.30am to find someone licking her private parts and at first thought it was her boyfriend but then realised he was asleep next to her last February.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, she then dug her nails into her boyfriend’s arm and whispered: “Someone is here.” The paper claims her partner then jumped out of bed and shouted at vile Taouk “What the f***. Who are you?”
The fined then apologised, saying: “I thought this was the boarding house. The front door was open.”
He was then thrown out of the home by the boyfriend, who returned to find his partner lying on the bed sobbing. She initially said she did not want to go to police, but after speaking to her stepfather the next day agreed to go to police where she told them what had happened.
Officers managed to get DNA off her pyjamas that linked Taouk to the crime and CCTV caught him in the couple’s street at the time of the vile crime.
He was grabbed by police ‘nervous and sweating’ on the streets and immediately arrested. The beast appeared in court this week where he pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a woman and the aggravated break and enter into her home.
In a letter read out in court, Taouk apologised for his actions and claimed he was mentally ill and ‘just following voices‘.
He wrote: “I am sincerely sorry towards making the victim feel so disgusted and violated and wish none of this had ever happened.
“I am so sorry with all my heart and hope the victim is getting better with her life, no woman deserves that in her life.”
So we all know how the two Nollywood actresses made the best comic duo in the popular movie, that really made a breakthrough for the both of them but it seems that bond between them may have been broken as they have been ignoring each other on certain important dates.
Jenifa herself had her birthday few weeks ago, on August 24 and she was flooded with well-wishes from colleagues and fans, Gbogbo Bigz gurl on the other hand, notably ignored Jenifa on her favourite social media accounts.
It later became apparent that she indeed, deliberately ignored Funke when she came online on the same day to wish one Prince Jeleel Adekoya a happy birthday on both Instagram and Twitter to remove doubts that she was online.
Just yesterday, September 7, Gbogbo bigz gurl had her birthday and just as she refrained from wishing her newly-married colleague a happy birthday publicly, Jenifa too played Deja Vu.
The pair were last spotted publicly together in 2014 and we can’t help but wonder why the relationship between the two erstwhile friends have turned cold.

Lisa Miller, 18, popped the question to Jim Kerr while visiting the Scottish International Airshow in Ayr last Friday.
The teen was a pupil at Woodfarm High, East Refrewshire, where Jim worked as the caretaker. They have been in a relationship since November and live together after Jim reportedly left his wife for the schoolgirl.
Gazing into the 60-year-old’s eyes, Lisa says: “Jim, we’ve been going out for just under a year and I love you so much. I wouldn’t swap you for the world and, marry me?”
Beaming Jim then quickly responds “yes, definitely” before leaning in for a kiss. After the proposal, the teenager is shown wiping away tears before cuddling her fiance.
Their romance has caused a backlash on social media including from Jim’s 32-year-old daughter Allison. She fumed: “It’s my dad and I’m 32 so imagine how me and my family feel seeing that.”
Allison later said: “We have nothing to do with him anymore” but refused to comment any further.

There are 6 lies in fact that are molding the minds of the young and old into thinking there is no hope for a happily ever after.
Lie #1: “My private immorality does not affect my marriage.”
This belief is a lot more common then you may think. Your addiction is impacting the happiness of your marriage.
Lie #2: “The mistake I made is so bad that we need to get a divorce to be happy.”
Building trust again after a s*xual sin was committed, addiction got out of hand or something of that nature can actually make your marriage happier than it ever was before.
Lie #3: “Breaking the covenants we made won’t hurt me or my children.”
Divorce does not fix everything, especially if there are children involved. There is no guarantee that your children will be okay with the separation. Knowing that their parents are not in love with each other anymore may possibly have an impact on how they view love, divorce and especially marriage.
Lie #4: “My wife and I are too different.”
I can’t think of one couple that is perfectly compatible. You have chosen to marry a flawed individual and are now complaining about it? Learning through counseling, trial and error, leaning on your faith, or taking marriage classes is the best way for you to learn how to work together when times are getting tough.
Lie #5: “My happiness is THE most important thing in my marriage.”
You will be happy in your marriage when you realize that you and your husband are on the same team and need to work together to get to the final destination.
Lie #6: “I should get a divorce if I don’t love him anymore.”
If you are religious, then one of the best ways to work through your marriage when the love is gone is to re-establish (or establish if you’re not religious) and understand God’s love. Learning the skills that He exhibits like patience, kindness, and a Christ like love can turn into an even greater love than you had before.
These are myths that we have believed for such a long time. Marriages have ended because of these exact lies and it has very likely affected you personally already. Don’t get warped into believing that marriage isn’t worth anything. It is worth every penny.
The police in Lagos on Thursday paraded an aggrieved fraudster, Henry Ezechie with six others who allegedly specialise in internet fraud.
The suspects were all arrested on Saturday at Ajah, after Ezechie who felt cornered in a $7,090 deal he had with Kenneth Eric alias Biggie, petitioned the police alleging that the others were kidnappers and fraudsters.
The Nation gathered that ,detectives from the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence (SCIID) Panti-Yaba stormed Eric’s Ajah residence and arrested Stephen Onwunama, Jacob Chukwuka and two others.
However, Onwunama and Chukwuka have both denied being criminals insisting that they were just Biggie’s friends and usually visited his home.
Ezechie who admitted reporting to the police said he was angry that Biggie refused to give him his 80 percent share of the loot.
“Biggie is the one owing me. We had a $7,090 deal and he refused to give me my 80 percent share of the money and so, I took the payment slip to the police to report. We do yahoo business (Internet fraud). It was my deal. He is the picker and so, his share is 20 percent.
“Picker is the person who receives the money and sends to Nigeria. He has contacts in America who pick the money and send through money transfer. I have been doing this business for some years now to survive, but this was my major breakthrough and he refused to give me my money. It is dating that we do. We use Match, Facebook and other sites,” he said.
But Eric, who admitted he was into Internet fraud, denied being a kidnapper. He also denied defrauding Ezechie, claiming that the deal did not click.
“Henry alleged me. He gave me a transaction of N300,000 which did not click and he went to the police to claim that I was a kidnapper and a fraudster. He left what we were doing and started talking rubbish. Whoever gave him that receipt he took to the police was just deceiving him. I do Facebook loto. We tell victims that if they pay $800 they will win $100,000. Most of our victims are white people because they are greedy,” he said.
Onwunama who denied being a fraudster said he only came to visit his friend and he was arrested.
He claimed that he was a government worker in Delta State, adding that he laid somewhere in the room when the police came and searched everywhere.
“They found nothing on me. They searched my phones and laptop and they didn’t see anything that has to do with fraud in it. I was just visiting my friend and I have spent two weeks in his place. I was to go back to Asaba on Sunday before I was arrested on Saturday. I don’t know how it is an offence to be a friend to a fraudster,” he claimed.
Chukwuka also denied being a fraudster, insisting that he only went to Kenneth’s place after he heard the police were there.
“I was at my house when I heard that the police were at Kenneth’s place to arrest him that he was a kidnapper and a fraudster. So, I went there with my younger brother to explain that I know him. That he was not a kidnapper. That’s how I was also arrested. I did not do anything wrong. I have never been a criminal in my life,” he said.
Parading the suspects, Police Commissioner, Fatai Owoseni said they will be charged to court at the completion of investigation.
