The Nigerian Film Industry was not spared from the turbulence that rocked the ship of 2016. The industry witnessed several deaths of top rated artistes, that graced local and international scenes. Some of which are:
1. Bukky Ajayi (82)
Veteran Nollywood actress Bukky Ajayi died on July 6, 2016 after an unsuccessful battle with heart-related issues. Her big break into Nollywood was her role in the Village Headmaster in the 70s. In March 2016, the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) awarded her with the 2016 ‘Industry Merit Award’.
A child traffic suspect identified as Roland Egbe, who was paraded by the Commissioner of Police in Abia State, Mr. Adeleye Oyebade, at the police officers mess in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, has confessed that he bought fried yam to attract the two kids he allegedly stole from their parents.
The suspect added that he handed the children over to his friend identified only as Uche, who in turn sold them to one Chioma Ohajimadu and Mrs. Comfort Ogbonnaya who reside at No. 69, Ososu road, Aba.
Egbe, who claimed to be a ticket seller at Oyigbo in Rivers State, said Uche introduced him to child trafficking business and persuaded him to get a child urgently as a buyer was already waiting to pay for the child.
He said,
“One evening, about two weeks ago, I went to eat at Oyigbo roundabout, Uche started calling me repeatedly to get the child he told me to bring. But I told him that I know the parents of the child I wanted to bring to him and I don’t want to hurt them. However, he insisted that I should bring the child.
“After speaking with him, I asked him to come around and wait for me. Then I went to where the children normally gather to play around the area because the little boy, Marvellous Heart, normally comes to me each time I am around his mother’s shop.
“When he saw me that evening, he ran to me and l bought sweets for him; from there, I carried him and met Uche, who was waiting for me at a distance. That was how we took the boy to Aba. He gave me N50,000 only and promised to pay me the balance later.
“But after some days, the woman that bought the boy started calling me to complain that she doesn’t want the boy again, that we should bring another child for her. That was how Uche forced me to go and steal another child for the woman.
“The second time, I saw some children around a spot where they sell fried yam around Imo River and bought some fried yam for them. When I was leaving, I left with one of them.”
Narrating his ordeal, the father of the boy, Mr. Shedrach Heart, said he reported the incident to the police at Obehie when his child got missing and went to his church for prayers, where he was assured that his child would come back alive.
Heart said,
“Roland has been our family friend, any time he comes around to play Loto around my wife’s shop, my child normally runs to him and the two of them will stay together until he leaves. On that fateful day, my boy ran to him and he carried him to buy something for him. From there, he took him away.”
The illegal adopter of the stolen children, Chioma Ohajimadu, also confessed to the crime, adding that she could not afford to adopt a child through the normal process because it was exorbitant for her.
She explained that she later resorted to use a man who promised to help her to adopt one at a cheaper rate. She said,
“I’m a widow with a son of about 17-years-old. But I needed another baby in my family. The Uche in question was my primary school student.
“When we met at Aba, he told me he works with the motherless baby’s home and I informed him that I needed to adopt a baby and I have gone round, but the price they were giving me was exorbitant.
“He promised to help me out since he works with them. So, about two weeks ago, on the 18th of November, he called to inform me that he has got the baby for me. He brought the boy to my house with Roland.
“I spent one night with the baby and found out that he was too rough for my liking. So, I called him to come and take the baby and get another one that will be calm for me. But he said he can’t take back the boy again, that he finished the registration of his adoption at the motherless baby’s home.
“That was why I called a woman that works at another motherless baby’s home and asked her if she knows of any woman that needs a child and she said yes and asked her to bring the woman to take the boy they brought for me because I don’t want him again.
“She asked me to bring the child and she then invited Comfort Ogbonnaya to take the boy, it was in the process of adopting the second baby that I was arrested by the police.”
Speaking while parading the suspects, Oyebade said Egbe was earlier arrested and paraded for child trafficking on December 7, 2016, before the operatives attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad at Obehie rescued the four-year-old Heart stolen about two weeks ago.
The Commissioner of Police warned parents to monitor their children closely and warn them to stop accepting gifts from strangers and people around them this Christmas period.

Kiss Daniel may not have clinched top awards this year, but the singer’s genius continues to speak for him.
Yesterday, the singer revealed the update he got from Google Trends – that his smash hit single Mama has emerged the Most Searched Nigerian song on Google for the year 2016, while his other song Jomo came in 3rd.
In May, the G-worldwide Star’s debut album New Era which dropped on the 14th of May, made the list of top-selling world music albums on the Billboard World Album Chart.
“#NewEra by @iamkissdaniel debuts at Number 8 on the @billboard World Album Chart billboard.com..GBAM!!! Loud it !I thank GOD, worldwide movement,” he said back then.
Now, he acknowledges fans who stood by him when he lost out at the 2015 Headies Awards. “All thanks to the fans around the world,” he says.
Harrysong was signed to KCEE’s brother, E-Money’s Five Star Music label where he released his biggest song till date, Reggae Blues. Also known as a writer and singer, Mr Songs left the label unceremoniously and threw shot, that most people believe was directed at his former label mate, KCee.
“Doing all these for everyone – both Five Star and outside the platform – is not a problem for me. Sometimes it bothers me that we are beating farther than it is. What bothers me is not the work. What bothers me is the appreciation. You are helping someone but the person feels he’s helping you.
“You write a song for someone and the person is telling you that if I don’t sing your song, you won’t blow. It’s childishness. I don’t know,” he said in an interview with Planet TV.
This lack of appreciation is believed to be the main reason for quitting the label and starting his own record label. He also revealed that he has been responsible for writing most of the songs produced in Five Star Music.
These accusations has made many blame Five Star Music for not treating Harrysong right, however recent findings has revealed the other side of the story, which blames Harrysong’s greed for the split.
According to Broadway Africa who spoke to one of the members of Five Star Music who wanted to remain anonymous, Harrysong breached his contract agreement and was making money on the side without the knowledge of the label.
According to the source, Five Star Music, had organised an European tour for Harrysong which he honoured but he organised and arranged other performances for himself outside the knowledge of Five Star Music.
The label got to know about what they view as an ‘act of betrayal’ but kept mute until it was time for Harrysong to shoot the video for his single, Bakana.
The label simply asked him to pay for it himself since he made money off shows that weren’t recurred back to the company.
This angered Harrysong and he decided to part ways with them.
Harrysong has since launched his own record label called Alter Plate and has insisted that he has no beef with his former record label.
Muma Gee has finally shut down her husband, Prince Eke’s claims that she abandoned him and their children.
Recall that the drama started this week, after Prince Eke brought his family’s business to social media. According to the Nollywood actor, his wife left him and their children and eloped with some unknown men in Abuja.
“This is not cheap publicity, I am not washing my dirty linen in the public, neither do I want to invoke pity,” he said. “How nice is it for a woman to abandon her 3 months old baby for 4 weeks and ran off to Abuja with God knows who and is being seen in Abuja at public joints and night clubs with different men?”
But the singer says she is only at the capital for business.
“Are you saying I shouldn’t do my work again because I am married? I am in Abuja and I came to work. I have a show here. In fact, I am in a meeting right now. I don’t have any problem with whatever he says,” the visibly upset mum of three tells Punch.
On claims that she abandoned their children, Muma Gee said, “I have no comment. I have a new album, let him help me and market it. It is this kind of controversy that we are looking for right now.”

President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari will turns 74 today. Find below an Article/Press release, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina wrote.
What a helluva week for a man who turns 74 today. In one day, in his birthday week, he flew from Abuja to Monrovia, from there to Freetown, and then to Banjul, in The Gambia. He held meetings lasting many hours, then flew to Freetown, again to Monrovia, and then returned to Abuja by 3.20 a.m.
In the afternoon of that same day, when most of those who travelled with him would have given anything to be in slumberland, he presented the 2017 budget proposals to the National Assembly. If I am lucky to live to that age, I don’t wish to run such punishing schedule.
But for that reason was Muhammadu Buhari born on December 17, 1942, in Daura, present day Katsina State. For that reason he came to the world. To serve humanity, serve his country, and make a huge difference. He was sent here to show that it is possible to be squeaky clean, play according to the rules, and live for others, not for primitive accumulation.
The word came out on Monday, a public holiday. We were headed for Gambia the next morning, and we must set forth at dawn. For we were returning to Abuja the same day. By 6 a.m, we were on the way to the airport. A few minutes past 7 a.m, the great bird lifted into the sky. The peace shuttle had begun.
What took President Buhari out at short notice was the developing situation in The Gambia. President, Professor, Dr, Alhaji Yahya Jammeh, who had taken power from Sir Dauda Jawara 22 years earlier in a military coup, and who had transmuted to a civilian ruler along the way, had suddenly recanted on an election he lost, and over which he had congratulated the winner. Jammeh said the scales had fallen from his eyes, he had seen the light, and the defeat he had conceded was no longer so. The election was flawed, and there must be a new exercise under a “God-fearing electoral commission.”
This was deja vu. Another Gbagbo scenario, as we had seen in Cote D’Ivoire? A playback of 1998 Sierra Leone, in which ECOMOG troops, led by Nigeria under Sani Abacha, had flushed out the military junta led by Johnny Paul Koroma, which had ousted President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah from power? Will the President, Professor, Dr, and Alhaji be given the Gbagbo and Koroma treatment? It seemed inevitable.
But blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God. Buhari of Nigeria, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf of Liberia, Ernest Bai Koroma of Sierra Leone, and John Mahama of Ghana, decided to wave the olive branch. It was time to try and talk some sense into Jammeh’s head. The presence of Mahama in the team was significant, as he had also conceded defeat in the presidential election held in Ghana only a few days earlier.
After a flight of two hours and forty minutes, we landed in Monrovia. We took aboard Johnson-Sirleaf, and some of her aides. A few days earlier, in her capacity as chair of ECOWAS, she had headed for The Gambia. Jammeh did not give her plane permission to land. She had to return home.
Liberia. Land of blood, caused by greed for power. Samuel Doe. Yormie Johnson. Charles Taylor. Many others. They wanted power, and did not mind turning their country to a killing field. Very sad.
After 47 minutes, we landed in Freetown. Some years back, the town had not been free. The same lust for power. Foday Sankoh led what he called the Revolutionary United Front (RUF), and his type of revolution was to chop off the hands of innocent people. If he cut it at the wrist, he called it long sleeve. If he butchered at the elbow, he called it short sleeve. Sierra Leone was filled with thousands and thousands of amputees. Sheer madness!
But the day of reckoning came, as it always does. Sankoh was arrested, and put on trial. He fell ill, was wheelchair bound, and eventually died. He escaped the justice of man, but not of God. I was editor of Daily Sun when he died. I remember my headline: ‘Foday Sankoh goes to hell.’ The Mirror of London went the same way. NEXT STOP:HELL. That was the paper’s headline. You can accuse us of being judgmental, playing God. But as far as human beings knew, Foday Sankoh had no other destination. Only hell, to keep a date with his master, Satan.
But I digress too much. We are talking of a peace shuttle in a birthday week.
Yes, we took on board President Bai Koroma and his aides, and we were on the way. An hour later, we were overflying Banjul. Would we be permitted to land, or given the Johnson-Sirleaf treatment? Happily, the big bird swooped down, and we landed. I was back in Banjul, 12 years after my last visit. Everything seemed the way I had left it. Only Jammeh had changed. From conceding defeat, to calling for another election.
The three presidents joined John Mahama of Ghana at the Coco Ocean Hotel, a lovely resort by the sea. Would the waters be turned crimson red soon? God forbid. That was why the peacemakers were around. For the next seven hours, they met with Adama Barrow, the victor in the election, the leadership of the electoral commission, a delegation of the coalition that gave Barrow victory, security chiefs, and many others. Twice, they met with Jammeh at the State House. Before proceedings began, and after. What were they asking for? Simple. Respect the Constitution of your country. Honour your word, and uphold the results of the election. Vacate power next January, as decency requires.
There was no positive commitment from Jammeh, and the parley continues, as ECOWAS meets in Abuja today. On his 74th birthday, President Buhari, instead of wining and dining, would be hosting leaders of the West African sub-region. For that reason was he born. For that purpose was he sent to Nigeria. To serve the country, serve humanity, and show that things could be done differently.
By 10 p.m Nigerian time (9 p.m Gambian time) we boarded the presidential jet. I remembered a primary school song:”Oh Nigeria, oh my native land, Never again may I roam. I’ve been to Ghana, I’ve been to Sierra Leone, I’ve been to Gambia, I’m going back to my native land, never again may I roam.”
It was a day of roaming, but for a good cause. We dropped off the Sierra Leonean contingent first. Freetown, the land of my father. In 1955, my father had sailed from Nigeria to Sierra Leone, in search of the Golden Fleece. He had gone to study at Fourah Bay College, from where he took a degree in Economics, and returned home in 1959. He took to teaching, and retired as a school principal in 1971. He had good stories to tell us about Sierra Leone. That was before the country lost its innocence, erupting in an orgy of killings.
We dropped off the Liberian contingent, and headed for Abuja. If we had gone straight, we needed only two hours and forty minutes. We spent five hours and five minutes. Double that, and we had spent more than 10 hours in the air, all in West Africa. Blessed are the peacemakers…
Yesterday, President Buhari gave out one of his daughters, Zahra, in marriage. Today, he would be with ECOWAS leaders for most of the day. How do you remind him it’s his birthday? On Wednesday morning, we had got back to Aso Villa at 4 a.m. By 2 p.m, the President was presenting Budget 2017 to a joint session of the National Assembly. On Thursday, he was in Lagos to commission a ship at the Naval Dockyard. What a helluva birthday week! I repeat. If I am lucky to live till 74, I don’t want to run such punishing schedule.
Some people say they used to give them some injections in the military that make them go on and on. True? False? I don’t know. We saw the same of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, also a retired General, who worked endless hours. Could the injection theory be true? Somebody, please confirm.
The man the people call Mai Gaskiya (honest man) turns 74 today. I wish him longer life, in good health. The sailing may be rough and tempestuous on the economy front now, and some people are shouting; carest thou not that we perish? We are hungry and dying. But Nigeria will get to halcyon shores. This land will prosper again. Our captain is at the helm. He is tested and trusted. We can then sleep through the storm.

How Seun Egbegbe Committed $3,000 Fraud in My Shop – MultiChoice Dealer Reveals
The dealer, Semiu and Egbegbe had met briefly on December 9, 2015, at a MultiChoice outlet opened by the latter two days earlier at Uncle Joe Bus Stop at Mokola area, Ibadan. About 9 am on that day; the dealer told SaharaReporters, a man he had never met walked into the outlet requesting to buy two GOtv decoders.
The prospective customer, added the dealer, said he was expecting a friend of his to bring money with which he would pay for the decoders.
Shortly after his arrival, another man arrived wearing jellabiya, the long robe favored by Muslim men, and gave the prospective customer some money.
The dealer, who was working when the jellabiya-wearing man handed over the cash, said he did not know the exact sum given to the first man. After handing over the cash, the man in jellabiya left. Curiously, too, the prospective customer, who would later turn out to be Egbegbe, the dealer explained, stepped out of the shop and waited outside, where he was shielded from view by a glass door.
Wondering what was happening to the envisaged transaction, the dealer stepped out to check on Egbegbe.
He found him standing outside and sought to know what was going on. Egbegbe, who kept impersonating a prospective customer, then pointed to a man waiting for downstairs, signaling that he was the one that would provide information required for the activation of the decoders. Though he was speaking, said the dealer, his voice was drowned out by music from the loud speakers hired to create awareness for the outlet.
That was the beginning of trouble. When the jellabiya-wearing man got upstairs to meet the dealer, he announced to him that Egbegbe had taken $3,000 from him.
He could not make any connection between what he heard and the transaction he was supposed to carry out.
“I considered it a joke initially, but later realized that the second guy was a Hausa man, who had innocently transacted business with the pretended customer on the assumption that he owned the MultiChoice outlet,” the dealer said.
The Hausa man, recalled the dealer, told him that the pretended customer had phoned him from a Fidelity Bank branch opposite the MultiChoice outlet, claiming to own that place and requesting to change naira to dollars.
Apparently, Egbegbe had failed to give the forex trader the naira equivalent of the money he took from him, with currency trader lured into a false sense of security that Egbegbe owned the dealership and could always find him there.
When the currency trader realized that the man he transacted business with was not the owner, he raised the alarm.
“Before I knew what was happening, I was surrounded by over 20 Hausa men and dragged to Sabo, the hub of forex trading in Ibadan,” the dealer told SaharaReporters.
From there, things would get nastier. At Sabo, the currency traders convinced that the dealer knew the man who took $3,000, descended on him.
“I was beaten for about 45 minutes and was about to be killed before a policeman from State Investigation Bureau (SIB), named Samson, intervened and ordered us to move to Oyo State Police Command Headquarters at Eleyele,” he recalled.
While relieved to have escaped jungle justice, there was to be no further let-up to his ordeal.
At the SIB, the dealer and other currency traders were told to wait in a room, while the man from whom the $3,000 was taken, Samson and the SIB head went for a private discussion. After their discussion, and without any interrogation, he claimed, they were transferred to AKS for another round of beating.
At AKS, he added, they kept asking him to refund the $3,000.
“I kept telling them that I knew nothing about the money and that they should not kill me because of $3,000 (N750,000). After about 30 minutes of beating, I was handcuffed and taken to my office and to my house. My wife and four-year-old daughter saw me in handcuffs. They searched my house and found nothing,” he said.
Before going to the dealer’s house, they had arrested the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the Fidelity Bank branch opposite his office, where the perpetrator of the fraud claimed to have phoned the currency trader from. The CSO was arrested because the police found evidence that he had phoned.
Samson, the police officer, explained the dealer, had told them at SIB that CSO called him to find out if the operation was successful and that the CSO said it was.
From his house, they moved to that of his staff identified as Alfa. This is in the Agbowo area of Ibadan. They equally found nothing incriminating in the house.
The dealer said he would also later discover that Samson, the policeman, told the SIB that the found firearms in his house. He was the detained for five days.
While in detention, he kept requesting that he be charged to court because he suspected that there was a plot to make him face criminal charges and have him remanded in prison. On account of the suspected plot, many people, including one of his lawyers, advised the dealer to offer to pay N500,000 of the N750,000. The man from whom the money was taken agreed when it was suggested to him. He was told to put it in writing.
“I knew nothing about the money and there was also no way I could raise the amount suggested, having just started business. I was given till 15 January 2016 to pay part of the money,” he narrated.
While waiting outside the Anti-Robbery Squad premises on the deadline day of January 15, 2016 the dealer said he saw actress Toyin Aimakhu with a man that was being wildly cheered by policemen.
He took a closer look and discovered that the man being cheered by the policemen was the person that came to his office requesting to buy GOtv decoders and eventually took $3,000 from the currency trader.
On the said day the victim saw him at Anti-robbery Squad where Seun Egbegbe and Toyin Aimaku came to release Aimakhu’s Range Rover that he Seun gave her which d police impounded from her driver earlier that day and fortunately Semiu saw and recognized Seun Egbegbe as someone who collected $3000 from the BDC vendor. lawyers.
“I was confused. I then told one of the Anti-Robbery Squad officers that the man in front of them was the one who collected the $3,000.
The officer asked if I knew the person I was pointing at. I said I was sure he was the one. The officer said he is Seun Egbegbe, a socialite,” said the dealer.
Stung, the dealer I ran to the Investigative Police Officer (IPO) handling his matter to tell him of his discovery. The IPO, the dealer said, asked him repeatedly if he was sure of the man’s identity.
“I told him I was sure he was the one who came to my shop,” stated the dealer.
Drama then ensued when the IPO wanted to arrest Egbegbe. He was arrested after initial hesitation by police and confessed that he was the one that did it.
But his actress girlfriend, Toyin Aimakhu told the police that she was ready to offer them (the police) any amount to bury the case because she doesn’t want a scandal, the victim wanted to press charges against Seun Egbegbe but the police colluded with Aimakhu and threatened Semiu and his co-victim with harm.
Some officers were opposed to his arrest, but the IPO insisted on arresting him, and he was arrested.
He confessed to the crime and promised to refund the Hausa, currency trader. The actress, added the dealer, slumped in shock.
“I was invited back to AKS on January 18, 2016, for apology and compensation, but nothing not was done. The CSO and another staff of the Fidelity Bank branch lost their job. I incurred huge financial losses and almost lost my sight,” the dealer recalled.

An industry source informed encomium.ng that the Ogun born music and movie financier left for Malaysia a couple of days back to take a rest after all the controversies trailing the incident.
“Seun Egbegbe is not in town now. I learnt he has gone to Malaysia where he will sojourn till February 18, 2016 when his case will be heard at Ikeja Magistrate Court, Lagos,” the insider told encomium.ng.

Ou Qian from China was self-conscious about looking fat in her wedding gown, so to show his love and support, her fiancée, Wu Shuai, wore her dress to their ceremony.
The unconventional wedding was held at a hotel in the Shunqing district of Nanchong city on December 10.
At the ceremony the bride, walked on stage handsomely dressed in a black tuxedo and sunglasses. Her father had died and she didn’t want anyone else to walk her down the aisle.

“We will post clarification with more details about the frozen mavro on everyone’s Personal Office (PO). Some mavros will be released before the 30 days release date probably in batches.
“Next week, we will implement change of guider button on every participants PO. New section in our PO will be installed this week. PH and GH order dispatching has been stopped for a while, meaning they aren’t matching anyone for the meantime. We will use this period to tackle other issues we have with support.”

For Nigerians to defeat non communicable diseases and live long, they must avoid excessive or continuous intake of smoked fish, roasted corn, roasted plantain and other enticing, but unhealthy foods, the Managing Director, Integrated Medical Centre, Dr. Damilola Familoni has said.
She notes that though these were hard to resist delicacies for Nigerians, they were ladened with cancer causing effects and other disease risk factors which manifests much later in life, stressing that one of the surest prevention methods against cancer, diabetes, hypertension and obesity was adopting a healthy lifestyle which includes healthy living.
Speaking at the celebration of AVON Health Management Organisation at Three, and the launch of its online service in Lagos, she said Nigerians must be educated on what types of foods to be avoided or eaten, as education was key to tackling the rising health indices in the country. “For instance, anyone with Blood type O has no reason eating plantain at all,” she adds.
According to her, “disease burden was becoming prominent in Nigeria, hence it was best to adopt healthcare provision that would make them spend less while getting adequate and appropriate diagnosis, treatment and management of their various health issues.
“All these can’t be addressed by out-of-pocket health provision as majority of Nigerians are living below the poverty line and are unable to afford healthcare. But with health insurance, it is easier to maximally take advantage of healthcare provision. Organisations, governments and individuals should adopt this model if we must reduce incidence of health issues in the country,” Familoni added.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer, AVON HMO, Mrs. Adesimbo Ukiri said with the launch of the online service, Nigerians can now buy and enroll to health plans from the organisation’s website via their mobile phones, laptops and tablets.
She said: “When we started three years ago, our belief was that Nigerians from all walks of life should be able to access good quality healthcare services when they need it, without financial constraint leading to unnecessary complications and fatalities .
“With our health plans starting as low as N15,000 per year, we have indeed brought quality healthcare services to the average Nigerian. Subscription to an Avon HMO plan means that whenever a covered ill health or accident occurs, the state of one’s finances won’t matter as Avon HMO oversees the healthcare service delivery and foots the bill. By giving people the ability to buy and subscribe online via mobile phones and other devices, we are bringing convenient and affordable healthcare services to everyone.”
She sad with the innovation, the current three to four per cent of Nigerians using health insurance will increase.

These sex positions are a little less mainstream, but absolutely result in fun to be had.
1. Missionary Done Right
According to many sex experts, women get the most pleasure out of basic missionary sex. There’s nothing fancy about it, but many women said they love the closeness and the intimacy of having their partner’s weight on them, the ability to kiss, talk, nibble, plus a lot of clit stimulation.
“In order for missionary position to be most effective, guys, make sure you’re entering her at the correct angle. This is an important position to master; by going in diagonally — rather than straight in and out — there’s more friction for clitorial stimulation, which is best, since that’s how most women achieve orgasm,” says Coleen Singer from Sssh.com.
