A rough estimate of 30 female ex-members of the National Youth Service Corps, were arrested yesterday night while celebrating their passing out at a popular joint in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
A team of Special Anti-Robbery squad (SARS) operatives stormed the popular Maitama in Ewet Housing, arresting all the women present in a raid aimed at eradicating the area of prostitutes. They were ex-corpers but arrested as prostitutes.
According to Akwa Ibom Trending, quoting The Mail,
The women were accused of engaging in prostitution. The women were chauffeured on police vans enroute the court. Efforts by family members of the former corp s members to bail their daughters met brick walls as the police said they have “orders from above” to charge them to court.
A female corps member told us on condition of anonymity said she was lucky to have been in the rest room at one of the joints when the police stormed the place. She said the arrest of her colleagues who were just celebrating their passing out is an infringement on their fundamental human rights, stating that the action by the police has painted Akwa Ibom in very bad light.
In barely three days after a family celebrated the birth of a boy, identified as Kabir, his step-mother (name withheld) has been accused of feeding the infant with acid.
The step-mother was said to have fed the baby with the poison when she requested to bath the newly born child.
According to The Point, the mother of the baby willingly gave the baby to her husband’s first wife, with the hope that the woman was going to bath the child.
The step-mum was said to have taken the child to a corner, and allegedly fed him with acid. After the act, the cry of the baby alerted the mother who immediately requested for her baby, but the step-mum was reluctant in releasing the baby to her.
The mother of the child was said to have quickly rushed the baby to the Ilorin general hospital where the doctor confirmed that the child was fed with acid. Meanwhile, the step-mother who allegedly poisoned Kabir, said she fed the infant with a methylated spirit, adding that she committed the crime under the influence of a spell.
Although the life of Kabir was saved due to prompt medical attention, the step-mother has refused to produce the ‘methylated spirit’ she fed the child with, despite threats and intimidation from her husband who is married to three wives.
In a related development, the operatives of the Kano state police command apprehended three housewives in connection with the attempted murder of a girl in Gayawa village. The suspects were recently arrested in the village after the father of the girl complained to the police.
Marriage is for the wise, marriage is for those who are insightful. There is no point constituting menace to the society simply because you and your spouse are not compatible.
We are tired of hearing cases of domestic violence and abusive relationships. As beautiful as marriage is, it is not a do or die affair.
It is important for you to choose your partner carefully in order to have the best out of the union. You cannot feign ignorance if you end up in an abusive marriage. It is either you failed to see the signs or you decided to ignore the signs you saw.
The beauty of a relationship goes beyond being joined in holy matrimony; it is the life you life after being joined that matters most to people.
Since the society has made women a focal point of attention when marriage is to be discussed, we are going to let you know the major types of women every man wants to marry.
Even though people around makes women feel eerie about being single when they are in their late twenties, we will tell you the things you need to work on while you wait on your man.
If you are older than 25 and still single, it will be good for you to calm down and do the right thing. It will be painful for you to have to wait that long before getting married and still end up having a bad marriage.
Men have a mind of their own; irrespective of the shape you may have as a woman, there are certain things they look for when marriage is in view. Check out the types of women that will be every man’s dream woman any time any day:
1. The submissive woman
No one wants to know about your qualifications and the positions you occupy. If you are not submissive to your man, you are of no use. Men want to be in charge, knowing they have a spouse or a partner who makes them a priority thrills them. Being rich and industrious is a plus if you are submissive. Being submissive does not make you a fool, you should never interpret this virtue as slavery.
So it seems like there’s no love lost between the pair, as the plus-sized actress recently named her colleague as her ‘Woman Crush Wednesday (WCW)’.
The once upon a time frequent movie duo were rumoured to be at loggerheads, and an apparent lack of acknowledgement from one to the other on both their birthdays further fueled the rumours.
In celebration of her newly-married friend however, gbogbo bigz gurl wrote,
‘My #wcw goes to my dear friend, sister and colleague, whose impact in the movie industry is worth celebrating, I also celebrate her dedication, perseverance and acting prowess, keep making indelible marks in Nollywood…….I call her LAFUNKY.’
Two ladies were on Thursday set ablaze by angry mob at the ‘Owner’s Occupier area’ in Makurdi, Benue State for allegedly involving themselves in acts of lesbianism.
According to the report making the round on social media, the victims were caught in the act and were stripped naked, beaten and set ablaze on the street by residents of the area.
However, the Benue State Police Command has denied knowledge of the report, saying that several efforts to get the details of the report had proved abortive.
Speaking with DAILY POST on Thursday evening, the Benue State Police PRO, Moses Yamu said, “We have seen the story on social media but report has not been made.
“I still doubt if this happened in Benue. How can such event happen in Makurdi and the police is not informed? Anyway, we shall let the public know once we are done with our investigations.”

We have gotten to the stage where we need to ask ourselves questions as we critically reflect on the things we do in the name of tradition.
As it is, we are the architect of our own destiny; tradition will always be what we want it to be. It is sad to know that many people have been led to believe doing something in a particular way is the norm.
Religious and cultural sentiments do not help either as they seem to put people in tight corners where they are stuck. They involve divinity in the things they do as they find a way of making people do them at all cost.
People celebrate in different ways; this is because the way we respond to things differ. The variation in ethnicity makes it difficult for people to pass judgement since what is acceptable in one tribe may be seen as a taboo in another.
A certain young man was decorated with powder because his wife gave birth to a baby boy. It is understandable that people’s reactions to good news vary but seeing a full grown man in powder from head to toe is absurd.
In some universities students do different things to people who are matriculating or graduating. Seeing a full grown man washed in powder is certainly thought provoking. Is this some sort of initiation into fatherhood?
Find below some pictures that show what was done to man whose wife gave birth:
This has gotta be the most miraculous story you’ll hear all October! It’s mind blowing and touching at the same time! The story was shared by Ena Ofugara…
No need to give any spoilers… Just read and be moved!
‘In God’s Hand’
I have never begged a female as I begged my daughter Mirabor to stay with me. No. Not even the worst “congee” has made me beg a girl so much. If indeed she heard the promises and pleas of “biko ne nu me dja” (please stay with me) then HA! I have to do an APC on her cos the promises were much.
Now why would I not say anything to make her stay? July 8th 2016, I was at work when my 6 months pregnant wife called me that her water broke. I was like “HA! Shebi the child is supposed to be born in October?” And so I rushed out of work, not even informing my supervisor or anyone in the night shift. I rushed my wife Kimberly Wise to the hospital where her mom met us. Indeed, I had rushed to clean fluids from the floor wherein she had walked. She was moved from that hospital to a better one that could handle the birth of a 26 weeks old foetus (yes that is what she was, not yet a baby really).
Really that was how I saw my wife with all sorts of wires on her and began watching monitors tht was measuring my child’s heartbeat and it was upwards of 240. And then the injections and steroids started. Her lungs were said to not have been fully formed. And…and… after two days, with both the baby’s life and my wife’s on a balance, the doctr was called back from his way home and that with the amniotic sac burst, my baby was infected. OMO!!!
And that was where the promises and begging began. I am sure I even told her that I will even give her boyfriend money to take her out to the movies once she is 18….. just promises like that, all rendered mostly in Uvwie. I even told her she will is my heir, girl or not. That she came before any male child. That she should stay. I also told her about Nigeria. That she is a citizen of two countries and owner of two passports, including the US passport That if she stays, she will understand what daddy has done for her through mom in making her a natural born citizen of the US. OMO!!! I promised this girl the world.
And so at the theater, three doctors around Kim and three waiting for the baby. Me? Ha! I have never felt so useless. I was telling myself “but no be only my wife the THING sweet naaa. why is she the only one bearing this pain. Why is it only her life that is in danger? Why is she the only one on the bed facing the sharp knives? How come the man gets to OWN the baby and give her his name when he is just really an onlooker at the critical moment of giving life? All these questions ran through my head as she was cut open and my baby born at 9: 38 or so. And a tiny little baby was brought from her belly, 26 weeks and two days. There was no smile on the doctors faces as a set was sewing up my wife and the other set putting some kind of liquid into my baby as if it was FUEL being put in a car that stopped at third mainland bridge….quick and hurried. OMO!!!! I could not even pray well. I was just like “Osolobrughwe BIKO” God abegggg. “Biko. Have mercy on me. Biko”. And she was rolled away in a glass box. Only her eyes moved. The doctors will not even look at me. Of course I was smiling and telling my wife how healthy the baby was. She was born at less than one pound. OMO!!!
You see eh, I really praise atheists oh. I praise them. To not believe in a God, not have faith that there is a greater being looking out for us when we are helpless, to go through life without that BLESSED ASSURANCE… I really praise them. As for me, I had inboxed family and friends to just pray. Yes pray. Oh you think it is just the superior medical personel? (YES YES THAT TOO. WONDERFUL WONDERFUL DOCTORS AND NURSES AND SOCIETY AND GOVERNMENT ANd….) But my father, Chief Fred Ofugara JP had long punctured my faith in medicine. When I was trying to convince him that he should come for an operation here in the US, Chief said to me “Ena my son.
Namejewan, that your US, do not people die?” And I thought of Michael Jackson and Luther Vandross and all the big moneyed stars who die in their youth and prime and of course, I had no argument for Chiefs logic. So despite my baby having more wires fixed to her than wires in Ogorode power stations, some in her head, nose, belly, thigh feet etc, despite the transfusions and procedures, I knew it was GOD as much as the AMAZING DOCTORS. And yes, even the dctor will say “There is an 80 percent chance she will survive. There is a 60 percent chance this this that. We will try so and so and HOPEFULLY…” Yes the doctors do not know for sure either. Thy never give you assurances. They gve you percentages. And the thing about percentages is that even if it is ONE IN ONE MILLION, someone is that ONE.
Now if anything in this piece has conveyed that this is about me, I deeply regret it. Her mother Kimberly Wise her grandma Mardrell Wise and her aunt Keniesha Trimble were like pillars holding the sky in place. As Mira stayed in the NICU, grandma was buying books authored specially for her with her name and just sitting by her for hours. Her mother, with the pain of going home from hospital without her baby, as every mother should, kept on going to the hospital, kept on buying and buying stuff with the belief Mira was coming home, despite all the possible complications…from hole in heart to blood in brain, to serious infections etc etc. Okay! The pressure sometimes told, but I am sure I caused most. But by and large, she stayed strong and was buying premie clothes and stuff and I tell her “hope you know she will not be 2 pounds for long.”
Today, without a procedure, the blood in her head has resolved, the hole in her heart has closed enough to be unmeasurable, her hernia operation successful, and more importantly, the oxygen that we were to part of what we leave the hospital with, MIRA’s lungs and heart have found a way to use oxygen like the rest of us….NO OXYGEN TANK. God’s atmosphere suffices.
Many young women have been pushed into doing things they do not want to do simply because they gave in to pressure. Most men will not back down until consummation occurs.
Some of these young ladies have been made to believe they have to sleep with their partners in order to show them how much they love them. This is a big misconception as most of these ladies end up being shattered after they break up.
It is quite possible for you to share beautiful moments with a man without getting down; there are many couples who waited till their wedding nights. This did not change the feelings they have for each other as they learned to treat each other with respect before consummating their love.
Most men do not know how to tell love apart from lust; everything is in one direction for men like that. They believe everything they do with a woman has to boil down to bodies grinding and staying entwined for hours.
There are a number of factors that could be responsible for that. This piece is going to reveal the reasons men confuse love with sex; this will help you a great deal as you will be able to do things the right way from this moment.
Find below some of the reasons men do not know the difference between love and sex:
1. Insecurity
It has been observed that one of the reasons men cannot tell the difference between love and sex is insecurity. They settle for sex and tell themselves they are in charge; they also coerce the women they come in contact with to do their will in order to prove they love them.
This is because some of these men convert their need for intimacy, love, care, comfort and affection into sexual desires. Once they are able to get this from their partners, it is translated to love. Men who have low self-esteem tend to mix up these two things.
Everyone else thought when 22-year-old Mr. Samuel Sunday walked into the Living Faith Church, AKA ‘Winners Chapel,’ located at Sango-Otta, Ogun State, last week Sunday, he came to worship God – little did they know he came into the worship centre to steal a car.
So while the rest of the congregation were singing and praising God, Sunday was frantically searching for the perfect vehicle to steal. The perfect vehicle would be one, whose owner forgot the gate pass inside the car. Whenever church members were driving into the church premises, security guards at the gate would give them a gate pass.
Nobody is allowed to drive in or out of the church premises without the gate pass. Sunday was almost giving up hope of ever finding the perfect car, when he chanced on a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV).
The owner, apparently in a hurry, left the gate pass in the car. The hunter crowed joyfully. He had successfully broken into the car and was struggling to undo the security device of the car, in order to turn on the ignition, when a woman sighted and watched him.
When he noticed the woman, he smiled sheepishly, grimaced at himself and said: “I have lost my car key.” He didn’t know the woman was the owner of the car.
Needless to say, Sunday was whisked away by policemen from Obasanjo Police Station, Ogun State. After his arrest, Sunday blamed everything on his action, including his father’s early demise and devil. The police said:
“Sunday broke one of the rear glasses of the SUV and forced himself into the driver’s seat. He was battling with the security device in the vehicle, when he was discovered.”
The owner of the car, who refused to give her name, said:
“It happened last week Sunday. We had just finished the fourth service and decided to eat at the restaurant. We were still at the restaurant, when one of our neighbours called that we should wait for him. He said he wanted to drive home with us. I told one of my daughters to go and wait for our neighbour at the point we parked our car. When she got there, she saw the young man and rushed back to tell us.”
The woman continued:
“Initially, the suspect didn’t know that the vehicle was ours. He told us that he owned the vehicle and that he had lost his key.”
Sunday, who claimed to be 19-year-old and later 22, described himself as a gospel singer. He also described himself as an undergraduate and a driver. He said:
“I don t know what came over me. I wanted to take the vehicle home. It has been long I left home. I’m behaving this way because my father died when I was very young.
I have not gone to my mother’s house in Lamgbasa, Ajah for some time. I have been staying with my nephew. I wanted to go back home with the vehicle.”
A police source at Obasanjo Police Station, said:
“The suspect is a car thief! We recovered wraps of Indian hemp from him. He went to the church just for the purpose of stealing a car from the park.
We found out that he had moved round the parking lot before he finally saw the SUV. The owner left the gate pass inside the vehicle. He wouldn’t have been allowed to drive the vehicle out of the premises without the gate pass.

Ghanaian actress Roselyn Ngissah has confirmed she “really kisses” whenever she is on a movie set.
The actress who as part of a tour to promote new movie ‘Happily Never After’ made the statement on Viasat1’s flagship show This Morning, while responding to a question from co-host, Patrice Amegashie.
The Nigerian groomed actress said, “As for me I kiss, I don’t know for the others but for me, I kiss.”
“For me, I act kissing. It all depends on what my character says. If my character says I am the best kisser, then I should deliver it,” she added.
The actress, who was rumored to be engaged and pregnant earlier this month, began her movie career in 2004. She became a household name after features in Housekeepers, Last President of Ghana, Strange Marriage, Married Strangers, Adams Apple, Hidden Romance, Sex lover, My love My wife and Accra Hustlers just to mention a few.
Directed by Kobi Rana, ‘Happily Never After’ narrates the story of two love birds who are hit by tragedy just seven days before their wedding. Prince David Osei loses his legs and Jackie Appiah loses her sight, but irrespective of their disability, the two get married and live HAPPILY NEVER AFTER.
The movie features an exclusive cast including Jackie Appiah, Nana Ama McBrown, Roselyn Ngissah, Nancy Adom, Chris Lein Brown, Prince David Osei, Toosweet Annan and Benedicta Gaffah, and it is set for premiere on 8th October at the Silverbird Cinemas. A U.S-based Nigerian victim of domestic violence has lost custody of her children after her own daughter reported her to the police for hitting her.
The woman shared her story via Humans of New York. Read below…
“I was pregnant the first time he hit me. I found another woman in his house. And when I asked who she was, he got violent. He told me: ‘You are not my mother. You have no right to ask me about this.’ Then he hit me. And there was nothing I could do. That sort of behavior is accepted in Nigeria. Nobody is going to call it ‘domestic violence.’ If you tell the police, they will tell you to listen to your husband. But things are different in America. So I left my husband six months after we arrived. I entered a domestic violence shelter. I became a single mother. And I was doing fine. I was working as a security guard and my children were not suffering. But then one day my daughter called the police and told them that I hit her. But that is my right. A mother has the right to discipline her children. They were disobeying me. But the government took my children away and now they won’t give them back. They are oppressing me with their power.”

Ahead of a leadership conference that he is going to host come November, Pastor of the Daystar Christian Centre, Sam Adeyemi, speaks on the growth of his brand.
As a child, life wasn’t a bed of roses for the man of God, unlike other children of the affluent. But he certainly experienced modest comfort at a point in time.
When his father was a civil servant, he had the kind of fun that children of the middle class have. Later when the old man became a contractor, things turned better for the family and life turned rosier for the young Adeyemi.
Unfortunately, life showed the family another card. Old Adeyemi’s business encountered trouble and finally collapsed. Without invitation, poverty stepped in. That is how the proverbial mouth that used to eat beef began to run after bones.
“I tasted poverty and real hardship. I used to brush my teeth without toothpaste,” Adeyemi says.
According to the pastor, motivational speaker and financial teacher, that singular experience eventually shaped everything he has become in life.
“The experience gave me the capacity for compassion. I cannot forget where I am coming from,” he adds.
He notes that after he accepted Jesus Christ — when he was still an engineering student in a polytechnic — he got a kind of vision in which God situated him in a context where he was teaching a group of people.
This happened in the course of a prayer. He found the idea funny initially, as he did not believe he was cut out for teaching. But his decision to heed the signals has transformed his life and the church that he eventually founded — although he found it tough in the first three years of its existence.
Noting that he is sometimes amazed at the progress Daystar has made, he says what hinders the progress of many people and organisations is what he calls the culture of ‘big-mannism’.
This is bossing around when one is supposed to be a leader — a leader whose armours ought to be compassion, humility and the urge to develop the potentialities of other people.
